What is ScienceLogic SL1?

The ScienceLogic SL1 platform aims to enable companies to digitally transform themselves by removing the difficulty of managing complex, distributed IT services. SL1 uses patented discovery techniques to find everything in a network, so users get visibility across all technologies and vendors running anywhere in data centers or clouds. The vendor states the advantage of SL1 is that it collects and analyzes millions of data points across an IT universe (made up of infrastructure, network, applications, and business services), to help users make sense of it all, share data, and automate IT processes.

With SL1, the user can:

  • See everything across cloud and distributed architectures. Discover all IT components—–across physical, virtual, and cloud. Collect, merge, and store a variety of data in a clean, normalized data lake.
  • Contextualize data through relationship mapping and machine learning (ML) for actionable insights. Use this context to understand the impact of infrastructure and applications on business service health and risk, accelerate root cause analysis, and execute recommended actions.
  • Act on data that is shared across technologies and IT ecosystem in real time. Apply multi-directional integrations to automate workflows at cloud scale.

SL1 is our recommended strategic tool for monitoring. It must be used for all new customers. Its aim is to monitor servers, hardware and to be integrated in a global solution, that is event management, ticketing tools by example. Different strategy could be used to deploy the solution: On-premise, on SL1 cloud or on our cloud.

SL1 is used by the whole organization. It's used to monitor both internal devices like core network devices, servers, and customer devices such as virtual firewalls. Performance and availability are measured regularly and reduce outages due to the alerts that are being created before any outage.

SL1 is being used for a Fortune 500 client as a means for network and server monitoring. It is being used by a particular BU at the client and is not rolled out throughout the whole organization. SL1 addresses our needs for network monitoring and alerting to the NOC for resolution.

We are using SL1 for health and availability device monitoring. I must say it's a powerful tool and quite intelligent. We have multiple deployments of SL1 in NTT for monitoring 1000s of internal and client managed devices.

ScienceLogic SL1 is being used across the entire organization. Throughout our implementation we were able to work with both Professional Services as well as support to work through some minor issues. I have always felt that working with our vendors as a partner is more beneficial for all parties. We are able to get access to more enginering resources which in turn help to move the product into a more beneficial direction for both us as a customer as well as a product for ScienceLogic.

We use SL1 to monitor customer environments. We have customers all over the globe that rely on us to help them maintain their services and alert them when things are not optimal. Problems detected by SL1 are ticketed to ServiceNow to be addressed by our ECC engineers.

ScienceLogic SL1 is being used company-wide to manage, monitor, and maintain all of our business-critical systems across the United States. It is at the core of what we do, sell, and use for all of our service offerings to ensure success and growth for our business. The major problems it addresses are around visibility to a wide range of technologies, while providing an event and runbook engine to alert and automate any issues that may arise.

The ScienceLogic SL1 platform is used throughout our entire organization, from simple predictive hardware failure, such as a failed drive, leveraging the built-in the manufacturer's drive monitoring capabilities, to providing more complex, topology views of our virtualization platform and status of their components. It is also the driver of our real-time alerting of issues and is integrated with our ticket creation process.

ScienceLogic SL1 is being used as the enterprise monitoring, reporting, and alerting tool for several of our customers. It is integrated with Service Now for incident and CMDB synchronization to quickly automate scheduled outages, full systems life cycle including commissioning and decommissioning automation, and helpdesk integration. It is also used to monitor Cloud resources, and tie back into the billing system via its API capabilities.

ScienceLogic SL1 is used as primary monitoring software within our company and with all our customers.

We use it to monitor physical/virtual devices. Alerts generated are passed through via e-mail or SMS to corresponding specialist(s).

We also use ScienceLogic SL1 in reporting of different ways: usage reports, licensing reports, SLA reports, etc.

ScienceLogic SL1 is being used to monitor nearly all network-connected devices across the organization, however, it's really only used by the IT department. It alerts us when a device is down or unreachable and can also be an early indicator of network degradation.

We are using ScienceLogic to tie events to our ticketing system. ScienceLogic allows us to set the priority of a specific issue that we then route to our ticketing system. If the priority is set high enough, we page the appropriate party to engage and work towards a resolution. If the issue resolves itself, the ticket will automatically close, but we still have a record of a potential issue that came up.
