Other platforms allow you to share information but without the security and confirmation guarantees that ShareFile offers. Although they provide fewer features, they are often less intuitive and less easy to work with. To date we do not consider trying other options, as we do not see alternatives that can meet our needs as ShareFile.

We have one consulting engineer that uses MS SharePoint. We find it comparable to ShareFile, but see no particular advantage to it over ShareFile. We don't really know a lot about it, or what it costs to use.

For an organization that requires reliable security when sending sensitive data, ShareFile is the application to use. ShareFile has multiple features to ensure that the right information is being sent with the file so the end receiver has the pertinent information when the file is being received. Our external partners have never had an issue with receiving the files through ShareFile either.

ShareFile is better and easier to use than other products (i.e. SmartVault). I love ShareFile's ability to set up new clients easily. Their customer service is excellent as well. For any accounting firm, this is a great tool to have. Do not hesitate, you will not regret it. I would not be able to run my firm without it.

Citrix RightSignature meets the needs of our business better than DocuSign. It also has an awesome interface that lets me keep track of pending documents and integrate with our webform on our website. Along with the e-signature features it offers best encryption. Also, customer support is better compared to DocuSign.

Dropbox for Business coming further along and could surely offer the FTP like functionality we are looking for as well as the centralized admin piece but there were two main things Dropbox could not help us with. They did not offer the Outlook plugin capability nor did they have the enterprise file access capability where we can share on-premise files to our users just like they were in the cloud.

ShareFile is easier and does what you need. I have moved a few organizations from SharePoint to ShareFile. Just easier. You can setup different areas for different departments, setup their permissions and it is easy enough for them to do what they want in their zones. The mobile app works great as well. So you can all the features you really use from SP, but just easier to setup and use.

First and foremost we are both a Citrix and Microsoft partner so we will always recommend their products. 3 years ago we found ShareFile's biggest selling point was the ease of setup, administration, and ease of use while still being an enterprise-grade product. We also enjoyed the local storage zones, which benefited a Citrix environment. At the time Dropbox was only a consumer product, Box was still basic, Google Drive required a Google account, and Sharepoint was too complex to set up and administer. Over the last 3 years, all these players have drastically improved their products and are all great, offering more enterprise-level features and making it simpler to use. ShareFile hasn't really improved on the product that much over the last 3 years and we are now finding it difficult to justify, as most of our clients are also Microsoft users and enjoy OneDrive / Sharepoint with seamless co-authoring and native integration with Teams, etc.

One of the main issues we had with other file storage software in the past has been the ability for users to accidentally delete data from the entire company account and not just their specific user access or profile. There were not enough safeguards and warning messages in place to prevent a whole lot of scrambling and hassle when forced to try to recover entire folders worth of data that should never have been able to be deleted in the first place.

  • Dropbox--I don't believe it has the robust encryption capabilities as does ShareFile package that we use; I think it has electronic signing, but I don't know to what extent that feature is legally authenticated for HIPAA standards.
  • Apricot--purpose can be similar, but Apricot is more efforts-to-outcomes SaaS, therefore, would be overkill to use it only for such pinpointed record keeping as we need for this company.
  • ETO by Social Solutions, similar to Apricot, even more expansive efforts-to-outcomes SaaS. Too much software for the need.

Cost, ease of use, and reliability make this the far superior product. Dropbox performs well but has had quirks like constant disconnects, file syncs not showing up in a timely manner, etc. OneDrive is just overall invasive and frustrating until properly set-up.

Dropbox Business makes it really difficult to share individual folders collaboratively with a PASSWORD with outside users. I didn't realize this until I was locked in for a year, so I was mad. Citrix allows for storage that is useful to me and secure for the clients.

Our main determination of moving to Citrix ShareFile is the recognized security features. ShareFile was created with this in mind and went out of their way in the sales process to help us understand their features. We also work with many large healthcare organizations so this was a major priority for us.

Cost is the main reason that we went with Citrix ShareFile. Both have the functionality that we need. Dropbox is more robust (though Citrix ShareFile is catching up), but we have no need for the more robust features. We were essentially able to have 1 additional user for free at Citrix ShareFile compared to Dropbox.
