ShipperHQ is a shipping experience management platform from WebShopApps, the leading provider of shipping extensions for Magento. It gives eCommerce merchants the ability to set their own delivery options and shipping rates. ShipperHQ is designed to optimize the customer experience from checkout through the post-purchase phase. Shipping-based pricing, promotions, and flexible delivery options make ShipperHQ a popular choice for eCommerce businesses. ShipperHQ is currently supported by seven well-known eCommerce platforms. Their mission is to develop shipping management tools that make things easier for eCommerce merchants. Tens of thousands of merchants worldwide currently use the ShipperHQ platform to deliver the best shipping options for their customers. ShipperHQ partners with a few post-purchase shipping solutions, such as ShipStation, Ship Easy, and Order Cup.

We use ShipperHQ to provide live shipping rates on our BigCommerce retail platform. This allows us to provide expedited shipping options to customers who opt not to use our flat rate ground method. It also allows us to set up different shipping options for our Canadian customers, which is a huge help.
Pros
  • ShipperHQ makes providing live shipping rates fairly easy.
  • It also integrates pretty seamlessly into our BigCommerce platform.
  • It requires little to no maintenance. There are other third-party apps that we've used that require constant supervision, but ShippHQ is a set it and forget type app.
Cons
  • The user interface is a little tricky. It is not as easy to navigate as other shipping apps.
  • I wish that ShipperHQ had the functionality to print shipping labels and manage shipments. We currently have to use a different third-party app for shipment management.
  • I would also like to see the option for adding shipping rules if shipping management was integrated.
Likelihood to Recommend
We like ShipperHQ for what it is which is-- more or less a live shipping rate calculator. It works well in our BigCommerce platform. But unfortunately, it lacks the shipping management ability to print labels and manage shipments and orders. This makes us have to use a third-party shipping app. This isn't the end of the world, but it would be much easier if we could just do it all from one place.
Return on Investment
  • ShipperHQ is reliable and requires little to no maintenance, which for a small crew like ours is invaluable.
  • ShipperHQ also offers the option to display either retail shipping rates or our discounted rates to our customers. This is handy because we can display those discounted rates, which results in higher conversion and fewer abandoned carts due to high shipping costs.
  • One negative, however, is that since ShipperHQ lacks the ability to manage shipments, we have had to use another third party app which increases overhead.
Alternatives Considered
Honestly, we have not had to use any alternative software to provide live shipping rates, so I do not have any experience with other products to compare it to. ShipperHQ was included with our BigCommerce Enterprise package, and we have been using them ever since without issue. As stated before, the only thing ShipperHQ really lacks is a good shipping platform to actually manage shipments.

Since our products are large but not very heavy, it's nice to be able to set up custom carrier rules to make sure our customers are getting the best rate, while also keeping our shipping profitable. They also have a fantastic team to help set up the application itself and help the customer understand how to set up all the custom box sizes, etc.
Pros
  • Accurate real-time shipping rates through a number of different carriers.
  • Custom dimensional rules for one-off, and odd product packaging sizes.
  • Shipping groups to help streamline the shipping of similar sized boxes or use of free shipping, etc.
Cons
  • Some of the features are a little hard to understand how to set up properly - like dimensional rules.
  • Would be nice if they provided the ability to print labels directly from within the app.
Likelihood to Recommend
ShipperHQ is almost too heavy-handed for our use case. We are only a single-origin shipper so we don't need the advanced functionality of multi-origin or drop-shipping. It is suited much better for organizations that have multiple origins or that use drop-ship facilities, or even a company managing multiple different eCommerce websites. We opted to go with it because of its great reviews, combined with less than stellar reviews of the competition.

  • We've managed to successfully provide accurate real-time shipping rates through FedEx while remaining profitable.
Alternatives Considered
We only used BigCommerce's native real-time quote generator before this and it was only for international rates. ShipperHQ was able to help us get quickly set up with real-time rates for all FedEx services. I haven't looked into any alternatives.

Exceptional Examples of ShipperHQ Support
When I first installed the app I wasn't able to understand how to apply the dimensional rules to custom box sizes. After a short 15-minute call with their support team, I was quickly able to see in BigCommerce where the shipping logs were and see what boxes each product was shipped in.
