What is Shopify?

Shopify is a commerce platform that allows anyone to easily sell online, at a retail location, and everywhere in between. Shopify offers a professional online storefront, a payment solution to accept credit cards, and the Shopify POS application to power retail sales. Shopify is used by over 90,000 retailers in 100 different countries.

As a SaaS, Shopify's stability and always-on availability are touted. The eCommerce site presents the customary inventory and presentation controls typical of eCommerce solutions. Content management features (e.g. a blog) are present for tailoring the look and interactivity of the site.

For selling online, the $14 Starter pack includes a basic eCommerce site with 1GB of storage, chat & email support, and support for 25 listings. The $29 Basic pack includes POS and unlimited products, as well as fraud analysis tools. The $79 Professional Pack bumps storage space from 1GB to 5GB and adds gift cards, professional reports, and abandoned cart recovery. Finally, Unlimited, at $179 per month, makes space unlimited, and provides advanced reporting and real-time carrier shipping.

I use Shopify at a small business boutique store that I work at. We use Shopify for our online sales platform. This means we are able to list all of our items on the website and also make sales online. This works great because we are able to boost our sales traffic and attract new customers from not only in the United States, but also from around the entire world.
  • One of the best strengths is being able to upload your entire store to Shopify. I am able to control what items go online, how much they are and even set specific shipping parameters.
  • The vast ability to change your website is an excellent plus. If I feel we need a full makeover of the website, I can simply go into the tools section and choose a different face for the front of the website. I can then customize it with different colors and fonts whatever way I want.
  • The support staff associated with Shopify is amazing. I have been in several group chats where individuals have helped with any questions we have had from shipping prices to set up a new page.
  • One con would be that there is so much in Shopify that it can be confusing to someone. It takes a lot of practice and can lead to frustration if you do not understand what you are doing.
I believe Shopify is well suited because an individual is able to attract buyers from all over the world. You can charge different prices for your products' shipping based on the buyer's location. In addition, one can learn about where the consumers are located by data collection through Shopify. Another item that is great with Shopify is if you stock-out of an item and cannot remove it from the website in time before someone purchases it, the refund process is very easy and you do not even have to capture the payment automatically to help prevent stock-outs.

How Shopify helps me make 10,000 extra every month As a small business owner, I am so grateful to have found Shopify. It has made running our online store such a breeze and has truly transformed the way we do business. One of the things I love most about Shopify is how user-friendly it is. Setting up and managing our online store is a breeze, and the platform is incredibly intuitive. Even for someone like me who isn't particularly tech-savvy, I was able to get our store up and running in no time. The integration apps available on Shopify have also been a game-changer for us. We've been able to connect our store with various marketing and sales tools, which has helped us to increase our leads and sales significantly. It's amazing to see the impact these apps have had on our business. Another huge plus for us is how easily Shopify does marketing. With its built-in tools and integrations, we're able to reach more customers and drive more sales than ever before. In fact, we make way more sales on Shopify now than we ever did in our physical store. Overall, I couldn't be happier with our decision to use Shopify. It has opened up so many new opportunities for our business and has allowed us to achieve success we never thought possible. I highly recommend it to any small business owner looking to take their sales online.
  • Managing products and Sales using a very user friendly platform.
  • Apps that make marketing really easy and effective.
  • Directly linking platforms like Instagram and Titkok and managing content that is posted on the sites.
  • Fast customer service.
  • Customer Analytics, allows me to see what type of products should I sell more.
  • If you remove an installed app from your store, somehow its code is not completely deleted, resulting in a decrease in the speed of the store.,
  • Improving the mobile experience for store owners by making the Shopify platform more mobile-friendly to manage.
  • Giving users more flexibility in terms of customizing the design of theme.
Shopify is a great platform for small to medium-sized businesses looking to set up an online store. It's easy to use, offers a wide range of features and integrations, and is perfect for businesses in the retail and food industry. However, large enterprise businesses with complex and custom needs may find Shopify less suitable.

We use Shopify for the sale of one of our product offerings. We needed a platform for people to easily purchase our product from instead of them having to go through their CSM to arrange and set up their order. We have saved lots of time by creating a Shopify account and can now focus on larger scale business goals as a result.
  • Easily navigate through a purchase
  • Easy set-up
  • Great customer experience
  • Better metrics dashboard to track real-time sales
Shopify is well suited for both large companies and personal business. If you are looking for a platform to easily sell your product, Shopify is a great tool. Our customers can easily navigate through our Shopify account and we are able to target the folks we need to target by sharing our storefront link across channels.

We use Shopify in our organization to sell our products directly to our consumers all across the country. We launched our e-commerce store [a year and a half ago] and ever since we have not faced any problems with the platform. It has helped our organization to grow drastically in terms of market share and revenue and has helped us to know our customers better through its analytics feature that provides a detailed report on our customers wants and needs. The overall experience has been positive and anyone from our organization, if asked, would recommend Shopify as an easy, fast and convenient e-commerce solution.
  • Customizable themes
  • in-built marketing
  • In-built SEO
  • Multiple plugins to cater to your needs
  • Pricing should be a little more flexible
  • Need to add paid plugins for basic features like credit card payment feature
  • Not all features are available in every country
Shopify is a great platform for SMEs who want to launch an e-commerce store without wanting to spend a lot of money. It's pretty easy to set up and launch a website and does not require any hardcore coding [over-riding the need for] hiring a developer. Moreover, integrating with social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram is also pretty easy and straight forward which makes it even better. However, if an organization is looking forward to customizing it completely according to their needs, they would have to get Shopify's Advance subscription which is $79 per month which could be a bit high for a small and medium enterprise.

Shopify gives us everything we need to create and maintain an online store, including software that’s already built, hosting, plug-ins and apps (like SEO plug-ins) to help our sites grow. One of the things that makes Shopify so competitive is its compatibility with various options for making money. They give you everything you need to advertise your products and make sales online.
  • ready to use right out of the box
  • fast load times
  • compatibility with facebook and google ads
  • optimized checkout
  • professional looking website that's easy to use and maintain.
  • e-commerce store 24/7
  • almost unlimited features, themes, and apps.
  • You won't need to hire someone to build your store.
  • hard to customize by code
  • hard to track checkout events with google tag manager
  • pricing is high compared to other e-commerce platforms
Shopify is a tool that can be used without any setup. You just need to add products, prices, and shipping methods. Connecting to advertising platforms is as easy as adding a line of text and setting up analytics tracking is the same. Shopify has some monthly costs that are not so high, but they can hurt your profits in the end. You must also take into account the commissions of payment gateways.

Overall, Shopify is the best solution for me to create and build an e-commerce store without having any difficulty in planning and executing ideas. Shopify has all the features that I needed to create a store on my own. It is helping me in the organization to create stores for my clients by saving time much more. Intuitive in nature, fast processes, and built-in apps to clear the needs easily. I would definitely recommend these other platforms have this in their business to create stores easily.
  • It is easy to set up, the dashboard is easy to handle, designed with modern techniques so that we cannot have any problem while using this platform.
  • Integration with other software is amazing.
  • There are a lot of themes available for store creation which helps a lot in designing a store easily according to the needs.
  • It allows us to have several payment gateways on the store for receiving the payment which makes it greater.
  • The main drawback that Shopify has is that it lacks good apps to manage the software for free.
  • Shopify has different apps which are best to run the store on max strength but they are very costly like inventory management, generating multiple discount codes, and more robust customizable editing.
I am giving it this rating because I am a very satisfied user of Shopify. I have been using this platform for a very long time in my organization for creating a store for my clients and for the organization itself too. A perfect platform to have in the ecosystem to easily develop an idea, create a store according to the idea, set up easily, and manage the store across various channels.

Our organization uses Shopify for our online e-commerce websites where we are able to sell different items across several different websites. It easily allows us to sell and keep track of inventory as well as easily make changes to product pages.
  • You easily make changes and create product pages without a lot of effort.
  • The website as a whole is very easy to set up initially.
  • It is a low-code environment and you can make a lot of custom changes.
  • Some better tutorials and guides for going through Shopify's own liquid language.
  • The need for a new separate language is probably needed, but it does require a developer for major changes.
Shopify is one of the best platforms out there for any ecommerce needs. Typically the only thing that people have an issue with is price. If it was not for this, there would be no need for any other platform.

We use Shopify as our eCommerce tool across the whole organization. We're a small company, so we needed something we could set up and support ourselves which Shopify made simple. As the business is a start-up, it made sense to use Shopify as they take a small percentage of sales, rather than an upfront fee.
  • Easy setup
  • Inventory, shipping, return options
  • Ability to adjust price as per margins
  • There's always an add on you need that increases the cost
  • Lacking plugins/integrations
  • SEO needs improving
Shopify is well suited for a small and at a push, medium-sized company. I'd recommend anything bigger should look elsewhere as it will most likely be more cost-effective to have a custom-made eCommerce [solution].
It's good for small companies who want to handle orders, shipping, returns, etc through one platform.

Shopify is an excellent tool! Our whole team uses it to manage our ecommerce websites. It helps us to be able to sell online easily and manage an ecommerce store without a whole lot of effort and time.
  • It is definitely easy to set up and get going. This does not take a lot of work or effort on the user end, especially if using templates.
  • Low code platform. You can. make customizations without code.
  • The integrations are diverse and increase functionality.
  • The templates could definitely be improved.
  • If you do need to make significant changes it requires learning the Shopify language.
I would definitely recommend [Shopify] for anyone selling online. Though, the price may be a stretch if you are just starting out and need a lot of integrations.

Shopify is an excellent tool that our team uses to be able to sell. Setting up a store is super easy and allows you to sell online.
  • Shopify does customer service extremely well. Their team is always available and super helpful and knowledgable.
  • They have every integration imaginable so if Shopify itself does not offer what you like, I am sure you can still find an integration to do so.
  • The time it takes to set up a new store is extremely minimal which is a huge plus.
  • The interface makes sense and is easy to use.
  • Further sales analytics such as projections based on traffic, etc. would be helpful.
  • The included templates could be better for sure.
  • Price can add up if you are including all necessary plugins, etc.
I would definitely recommend Shopify as an ecommerce solution. Unless you have a logical reason to choose another software, you would definitely want to go with Shopify.

Shopify is one of the leading multichannel e-commerce platforms created and designed for small and medium businesses. It is by far the best and well-designed e-commerce platform that I have used to create my stores and my business to grow. Complete eCommerce platform on which we can create, design, set up, and run our stores across different channels which includes different websites, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • I have been using this Shopify for the last 2 years. I have been working on Shopify a lot and creating different e-commerce stores for my organization.
  • Automation is effective and integration with extensions creates easiness.
  • Easy to setup everything, everything is on the go without any hustle or hurdles.
  • Support staff is doing extremely well.
  • The main drawback that I am facing in Shopify for a long time is that their sales analytics system is not up to mark. As I am using Shopify to run different stores for my organization it does not get updated after-sales and does not provide the right analytics about the product strength and number of sales.
  • Secondly, Shopify has different apps which are best to run the store on max strength but they are very much costly like inventory management, generating multiple discount codes, and more robust customizable editing.
For me, Shopify is the best solution available in the market to create, design, customize and run your own store to grow your businesses relevantly at a small cost. I would recommend Shopify to the organization which is struggling in making the store more profitable, Shopify is your new destination to do wonders in the e-commerce field.

We define the products incredibly well; Shopify reinforces every interaction with a natural process in business to the point of making us feel secure. The sales department found a natural ally to increase revenue with Shopify, benefiting when innovating and meeting expectations of all our potential customers.
  • I use Shopify to create a great marketing strategy.
  • Right out of the box it has a very attractive and fluid interface.
  • It is fast and secure for doing business.
  • It adapted quickly to my business needs because it is simple to set up.
  • I would like to know the offers in more detail and with more appreciation at the first instance without the need to make so many clicks.
I recommend Shopify; it is excellent for doing business online with the necessary discretion. It helps us to understand the world of online business. If you intend to make a marketing strategy, you should include this software. It is accurate and beneficial.

Shopify is used by our organization in order to sell products online on some of our websites and to be able to easily create an ecommerce store without much effort. It helps us solve the issues of web development and selling products.
  • It is very easy to use and the interface is easy to browse through and figure out.
  • Training our team does not take much time as there is not a huge learning curve.
  • Putting products up doesn't take a lot of time and is easy to do.
  • Managing inventory is easy.
  • The price is a bit high compared to other platforms out there.
  • Making customizations could be a bit easier.
  • Learning Shopify language sometimes required.
If you sell products online or have an ecommerce store you can use Shopify. IF you do not, and just want a regular website, then you may not have a need for Shopify.

Shopify is used at our company to move our literary and digital products out to consumers. It is mainly used by the divisions that support our outside sales but the entire organization contributes to these divisions, so directly, only some areas use Shopify, but indirectly, we all do. Shopify helps us save time in getting a faster ROI since we don't have to spend the resources in building a sales platform and maintaining one.
  • The pricing model for Shopify is competitive and makes sense for a growing business as the plans are scalable.
  • Great prebuilt themes! There aren't too many to overwhelm you and waste your time in choosing but enough to fit most business needs.
  • Shopify is really straightforward to use, it has a clean, intuitive and HCI focused interface.
  • There are some interface issues with product images like with drag and drop that could be improved.
  • Transaction fees. Shopify encourages the use of Shopify Payments and if you aren't using them, there are fees assessed that are in addition to the payment processor fee, this is an issue sometimes as Shopify Payments isn't available everywhere.
  • Multi Language support isn't included in the basic packaging. You can integrates apps and more difficult to use templates to resolve this matter, but in our case, most were expensive and clunky solutions.
Shopify really is the gold standard for ecommerce solutions. It makes it easy and cost effective to get your products into consumers hands when setting up an e-store isn't your top priority, but the sales are. It is a good fit for businesses that want to get selling online quickly, have most of the heavy lifting done for them and have a few dollars to spend on the plan and associated fees. Shopify wouldn't really be an ideal solution for a business that has the knowledge and resources to create their own sales platform. There is limited customization with Shopify and some businesses require this. There are many tools and OS products available for marketplace software if a business has the resources/time to build and maintain their own.

We use Shopify as our main e-commerce platform. It is used across the whole organization by the sales team, the marketing team, the operations team, and also the management team to check on reports and overall business data. As a small business, Shopify truly offers to us an end-to-end solution for our digital channel. We don't use anything else since all we need to do (in order to attract customers > receive orders > send orders to production > invoice > receive payment > ship the product to the customer > manage post-sales processes) can be done within the platform and its app marketplace.
  • Easy to implement.
  • The app marketplace.
  • The whole end-to-end solution.
  • lack of good payment gateways for Latin America.
  • no recurrent payments option in the core functionality
  • POS doesn't work in Latin America.
Shopify is an absolute time-saver. In my case, we are a small and new shop that wanted to start selling online, and it worked perfectly. But the more I learn about the platform, the more I see it actually works for any type of company. Even for big corporations, Shopify has a tier system that unlocks more of the system's capacity when you need to scale up.
Besides time, Shopify is a very cost-effective tool since they take care of all the technology and security. You just need to learn how to sell your products online.

  • The templated themes are awesome and look very clean and professional.
  • The support team is super helpful and can assist in almost any effort.
  • Shopify could be a little less code intensive for customizations.
  • The pricing is a bit high just compared to other platforms out there, but it definitely is better.

Used by small business client doing online retail. Used by owner and possibly employee. Shopping is being used to bring the client's products to a worldwide market. The platform was selected because it specializes in online retail sites, and purportedly can handle large amounts of products. Detailed filtering and searching of products on the website page by the customers was a very important feature.
  • Built for online retail. Products are quick to load in if you have a spreadsheet and not too many products.
  • Quick setup of a website.
  • Low cost to try out, at least at first.
  • Shopify uses a plug in for every little function you want to add. It doesn't do even some very basic things you would expect out of the box. Almost everything needs a plugin.
  • Plugins can be costly and of inconsistent quality. The price seems low when you start building but then adds up quickly when you really start to try to bring a fully functional website to completion.
  • It is not easy to customize plug-ins to your needs and it takes a long time to review all the plugin options to figure out which one might actually serve your needs adequately.
  • Shopify was not very friendly for managing lots of products. If you get up over 400-500 it doesn't support them very well, at least not without hiring programmers and putting a lot more money into it.
Shopify is good for small stores with small budgets where you don't care much about customized branding. You can do much more with it, as evidenced by the large e-commerce websites out there that are built on Shopify, but costs will climb quickly for customizations so you need to be ready to make a true business investment. On the other hand, if you are able and willing to learn their programming language you can perhaps do some customizations yourself cheaper. That gets quite involved though.

Shopify is used by the company I work for to implement e-commerce features on our website. It assure site hosting as well which is very useful, getting all the facilities integrated in one place. The platform and its features are user friendly, you just require a plug-in readily available to add products on the e-shop, and it can be easily used by non-IT users.
  • Designs are excellent and mobile-friendly
  • Flexible core system and templates
  • 24/7 customer support
  • URL structure is not ideal for SEO
  • Multi language is not a standard feature
  • Processing fees are high
Shopify is the platform that assures its users to set up an online store without any experience in coding. Every step of the process, from themes to store launch is very simple. The integrated apps of Shopify allow managing the day-to-day store activities. Additionally, teamwork is allowed by tasks sharing.

This is the number one go-to application when it comes to creating an online e-commerce store. There are a number of benefits and flexibility in setting up things and working on them. Code is quite simple and preset functions are there to take care of things that are complicated to set up for users.
  • Ease of setup.
  • Vast community of developers.
  • Great customer service.
  • Costly extensions and plugins.
  • Need third party apps to avail features.
  • Not focused on the back-end systems.
The API is quite advanced which also makes advanced scenarios. Super easy to set up and get it running. You don’t necessarily need to be a developer to set up your online store. There are graphs for analysis and reports for the sales made which make work easy. Take the best advantage of the trial.

Shopify is an e-commerce platform we routinely recommend to some of our small to mid-sized food + beverage brand clients for integrating with their own websites to set up online sales for the first time.
  • Easy setup for the un-tech-savvy.
  • Allows for contact info capture to build customer lists for later communications.
  • Allows for easy setup of promo code discounts.
  • Shopify charges a transaction fee if not using Shopify Payments
  • Additional features mean additional costs.
  • Other e-commerce options may provide greater inventory management features.
Shopify is especially well-suited to the first-timer getting started with an e-commerce store. Setup & integration with your own website is easy even for the internet un-savvy.

The need to have an affordable online e-commerce solution became even more of an issue since many businesses could not carry out their regular brick-and-mortar operations during the past 15 months. As a company that provides web services to small and medium businesses, Shopify presented a fairly straightforward solution for us to offer websites that could be launched very quickly and be easily maintained by either the customers themselves or our technical staff. The Shopify Partners program is a great option that allowed us to facilitate setup and management of Shopify accounts on behalf of customers who could not mange it themselves.
  • The Shopify platform has built-in templates which are offered either for free or for a price so that the look of a site can be customized. Even after choosing a template, the platform allows for a great deal of customization in terms of colors and the order of certain features on the page.
  • Even though Shopify is a subscription service, it has some very flexible options for stopping the service for specific lengths of time with varying permissions. For example, if a small business owner needs to step away from the business and not have the store "open', they can do so for up to 3 months at no cost as long as certain conditions have been met. These options are worth checking out especially for seasonal businesses.
  • The availability of the Shopify Partners program is also a great help for customers who might not have the knowledge or time to build the site themselves. For businesses that offer developer services, it is also a good way to help potential customers.
  • Shopify is affordable if you just need the basics for your store. However, once you start to customize it or try to add more features you can quickly find yourself paying additional monthly charges. While this good for the developers who invest time and effort to build apps for Shopify, it can leave businesses spending more than they intended or going without certain features.
  • While Shopify offers backup and restore options for sites if you need to leave the platform completely and return later, leaving the platform to move your data to another platform isn't very easy. This means that businesses need to think carefully about what they will need in the long term before committing their resources to Shopify.
  • On the ability to customize, Shopify has made great improvements in the selection of available themes and apps but the selection is nowhere near as diverse as other popular e-commerce platforms. So again as a business person, you need to carefully consider what your e-commerce roadmap looks like in terms of features and functionality. Shopify may be ideal to get most businesses started, but may not scale well as the business grows.
Shopify is best suited to small businesses that have a fairly simple product offering and a straightforward order process and are not too particular about every little detail of the site design. The platform to work for businesses whether they offer delivery services or pick-up services. If the off-line model of the business has a fairly complicated order process system, is highly technical, or requires lots of option-setting or even conditional logic during the order process, then Shopify may not be the best platform. If the business has advanced custom designs in mind for the site then Shopify may not be the best fit.

Many of our clients use Shopify as an avenue for their retail space, and we have familiarized ourselves with the software and especially how to integrate it with the Amazon and Walmart side of 3P selling.
  • Shopify has a great platform for integrating with Amazon and Shopify.
  • Shopify is an easy way to pass over the listings from there to Walmart.
  • Their integration tool with Walmart has some issues that need resolving.
  • The ability to have multi-pack fulfillment via Amazon for Shopify orders is way too complicated.
As far as integration with Amazon and Walmart 3P, this is the best ecommerce platform we have worked with. It integrates very easily and has so much support that any issue that comes up can be easily resolved!

I am a co-founder at my company and we use Shopify basic as a resource to have a website and to allow for the purchase of drop shipped product from Printful. As a small business, Shopify has helped us reach a larger audience for our product and service offerings. Thank you!
  • Seamless UI
  • Auto dropship
  • Template website design
  • Cancelled orders
  • Fee breakdown across
Shopify basic is perfect for small businesses looking to create a new website without the need for a professional designer. Additionally, there are many third-party offerings that you can hook up with your Shopify basic backend to help facilitate sales further. We use Printful Connections and Facebook integration.

Shopify is our ecommerce solution for selling our products. We center our entire company around Shopify for our frond end web presence to fulfillment to inventory management. We also use it for interfacing with advertising mediums such as social media and email marketing. We would not have a business without it.
  • Shopify is excellent with easy of setup for basic sites
  • It interfaces with virtually every other tool
  • They offer some really great startup capabilities like purchasing a URL, setting up email etc.
  • The customizations to the front end of the cart are somewhat limiting. I found myself wishing for more flexibility.
  • Their support is pretty good but it would be nice to have the options to call someone at startup on the lesser plans.
  • I dont like that they charge you a fee for every transaction. I have used other carts that do not charge a transaction fee.
Shopify is fantastic for the very small business who is getting started with ecommerce. They have great tools for getting a site off the ground and a product available for sale. They have a lot of great tools for those who are starting from scratch and someone with very little knowledge can get up and running in a day. For large companies it would require a lot more manual customization to fit. Also their per transaction fee can be prohibitive for some scenarios.
