Integration with Outlook: Several users have found the integration of OpenHire with Outlook to be a useful feature, allowing them to save time. This has been mentioned by multiple reviewers who appreciated the convenience and efficiency it brings to their hiring process.

Seamless website integration: Many users praised the product for seamlessly integrating with their websites, providing a smooth and professional application experience for candidates. This feature has been highly valued by users as it allows candidates to apply for jobs without realizing that they have left the site.

Comprehensive applicant tracking: Users have consistently highlighted the product's comprehensive applicant tracking functionalities. They appreciate its ability to track positions applied for, update applicant status, and make comments or approve/decline interviews. This feature has helped users effectively manage and organize candidates throughout the recruitment process.

Complicated Hiring Process: Many users have found the hiring process in OpenHire to be complicated and hard to understand. They have mentioned unclear and redundant steps in job postings, causing confusion and inefficiency. Some users also expressed frustration with the lack of customization options for roles and security.

Limitations on Document Uploads: Several users have encountered issues when uploading documents for candidate offers due to limitations on the number, size, and type of attachments. The inability to designate requisitions as confidential has created problems and led to inaccurate data in reporting. Additionally, manually typing each email address for requisition approvers has increased the potential for errors and delays.

Inconvenience with Offer Letters: Users have found it inconvenient that there is no standard offer letter in OpenHire that can be customized without saving it as a separate entity. Furthermore, system-generated emails triggered spam filters, resulting in communication issues with candidates. Some users also experienced frustration with the inconsistent and sometimes non-existent candidate search functionality.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We use OpenHire to post National Office employment positions which include internships, part time and full time positions. We are able to include hiring managers into making decisions through the system and can easily contact and document correspondence with applicants. We previously did not have a good way to track applicants and everything was attached to our emails which could cause difficulty when training interns who had to use employee accounts/email addresses.
  • Tracks Applicant positions that they applied for and any updates
  • Allows Hiring Managers the ability to view selective applicants and make comments or approve/decline interviews
  • Allows HR to create reports and track how long jobs are open, where applicants come from and any other pertinent information
  • The browser compatibility issues are frustrating especially since applicant support has stopped
  • Applicants have issues when applying for more than one job but the system thinks they are applying for the same job
  • Applicants accidentally withdraw very easily thinking they can update their resume this way, I think there should be an additional pop up confirming that they want to withdraw their application
It is difficult for higher level positions that we include a third party search firm that assists with interviews because we have to save and send each applicant individually.

OpenHire Worked for Me

We selected OpenHire when looking for an Applicant Tracking System. We wanted to take our manual paper application process and streamline it to an online process. We are a community college with campuses in three different counties. This product allowed us to stop mailing paper applications and resumes to hiring managers that are located in different geographic areas and gain more control and security of our applicant's information.
  • OpenHire is extremely open to feedback from their users. I have given numerous suggestions for additional features that were eventually implemented and are now included in the product.
  • I liked the integration with job posting sites which saved me a lot of time. I was so excited when that was implemented!
  • The job requisition approval process is great. The approval requests are sent by email so it does not require anyone to log into a system to approve it.
  • It has been a while since I used this product as a recruiter so it hard for me to comment on this. Some of the items I had wished for may actually be in the system now.
I think when selecting an Applicant Tracking System you should document your business process first. I think you will have better buy in from your business community if your applicant system streamlines your process without forcing you to make major changes to your process. When I was looking for a system, I sent my documented business process to the sales representative. She said, "Let us take you through your process using our system." I think everyone has different needs and they should find the system that best meets their needs. This means that you need to do your homework before the selection process. You need to really look at your current business process, identify needs that you want to see met by your system and then look at each system you are considering objectively.

OpenHire was used as our Recruitment tool interfacing with our web site to direct potential employees to apply to our job openings.
  • Provides a seamless entry into OpenHire so that a potential employee doesn't know that they left our web site.
  • Terrific database in storing all of the information we needed to capture for applicants.
  • Great system to keep track of our jobs, what is opened, what is filled, etc.
  • Good system to view applicants for future openings.
  • The reporting capabilitles were difficult at best, needs to be more user friendly.
  • Too many bells and whistles, tries to everything for every company.
  • Need to have more customizable options.
This product is well suited for a large company. It is too much for a smaller company (less than 1,000 employees). I would ask about customization. I would also ask for a demonstration of what reports can be pulled from the system.

We used OpenHire's applicant tracking and contact resource management tool to find, track, hire and begin the credentialing process for physicians. The implementation of the system helped us reduce the time to hire providers from 69 days to 48 days within the first 6 months.
  • The best thing about OH is the intuitive nature of the program. With very little training we were able to use the tools within the system with very little effort.
  • Very customizable system that fit in our one off process quirks that we just couldn't give up. It also offered many alternatives to help streamline process heavy departments.
  • System administration was a breeze. Easy to add and remove customer locations as well as users.
  • There is nothing not to like about OH from a functional point. It was easy to use and had great reports.
  • Cost is a little higher than some of the competition but for what they have to offer I think the value is there.
  • I would make sure that you have a strong project manager to work with the support team during implementation. Its difficult doing it on your own unless you have done one in the past.
  • Don't allow IT to dictate what can and con't be done. I made that mistake and it cost me some functionality in using the product to its fullest capability.
No system is perfect all of them have flaws. What I liked about OpenHire is the ease of use, strong interfaces and smooth processes. Reporting in OpenHire is very robust and it has a number of canned reports and you still have the ability to customize a report that fits the company needs.

I also enjoyed a great relationship with the project manager that OpenHire provided and the training team.

OpenHire is used by the entire company. We use OpenHire in order to track and compare applicants and reduce paper waste.
  • User-friendly: The GUI of OpenHire is great. Mostly self-explanatory.
  • Multiple ways to get where you want to go.
  • Error-proof. You can go back and fix just about anything.
  • So much stuff is hard-coded. It would be nice if it were more customizable.
  • The job applicant process is confusing sometimes. A lot of people call support because they can't access their account.
  • OH is a little slow, even on a fast network.
It's great for medium sized businesses. We are a huge corporation, and there are a few things I'd like to see different (more roles for our district managers, for instance).
