Facetime is only useful if everyone has Apple products. For those of us with Android phones, Skype is the obvious option for video chat, easy VOIP phone calls, and recording software. Zoom was used during the pandemic of 2020 but the problem with that is that if you have a reoccurring meeting but lose the Zoom link, you have to ask for it again. With Skype, you can simply go to your recent calls and repeat the call again.

I think there are better platforms out there that surpass Skype's capabilities. It's a long-standing tool that has been around forever but it lags in some of the features and clean user experience. I would recommend Skype for a large international organization, particularly with the ability to make calls from phones etc, but again there are other platforms (e.g. Zoom) that also offer this and more. Skype feels a little behind many other platforms.

Skype is well suited for international connections. It is well known in other countries and free to use with just an email. If you are looking to call a phone number, you can easily purchase credits so you can call from your computer to a landline or cell phone in a foreign country.

Skype is well suited for quick calls back and forth, in both video and audio, among team members who have it already installed and who know how to use it. It is less well-suited when trying to do a presentation for somebody who does NOT have it installed or who lacks internet speed.

It's great for more casual workplace communications. A quick question for someone where you don't want to pick up the phone, or a virtual chat. If you're having a bigger group meeting or something more formal, a program like Zoom may be better suited.

Really well suited for when you need to make international calls, or chat with someone quickly. Less suited for situations with large team meetings where there are multiple users on at one time. Skype does not work the best for multiple user video conferences, at least in my experience with the program.

Skype is good for personal or small group chatting. It is well distributed and well accepted. Skype is probably the easiest of this type of app to install and get working. Skype would seem to be more popular in Europe where most app users will use Skype. The scenario of a user in .London offering local calling in Denmark, Germany and France is easily accomplished. Skype is quite cost efficient to use.

It is nearly perfect for the type of international calling that I use it for when I find myself out of the country. It is also good for domestic calls when I'm at home. I also use it when clients suggest it as their preferred means of communication since I try and meet their preferences whenever reasonably possible.

Skype is well suited for organizations looking for a lightweight, easy to install, and cost effective communication management system to connect their teams and organize those communications in a way that is focused.

Skype is less appropriate for companies dealing with sensitive information- financial, health care institutions and the like.

A user needed to have an meeting with a panel of people, and we needed to set it up and test it. Before we made the test call. I felt like I was able to configure everything correctly with the ease of use among the settings and testing. The test call worked perfect, and was nice for something to just work!

Skype is great for chatting with colleagues, which comes in handy while we are all working remotely. We use it for one-on-one chats and we also create groups with numerous colleagues included to discuss projects, share links to server documents and online links. We only use it internally though as it seems that most of our clients are accustomed to using Zoom and Microsoft Teams for video calls.

Skype is appropriate for smaller to medium-sized organizations. I'm not sure of the price of the tool or the subscription, but it strikes me as a tool that is on the cheaper end of the range versus Adobe Connect, Zoom, RingCentral, Microsoft Teams, etc. It does what you need it to do and nothing more, so there aren't a lot of frills or bells and whistles that you get with it. You get basically, what you need out of it. Larger organizations that require customizations or integrations, this tool probably wouldn't be the best fit for it.

Well suited scenarios:
  • Foreign calls from everywhere at affordable prices.
  • Get a local phone number for customers.
  • One on one calls between Skype users.
Less appropriate scenarios:
  • Multiple user calls (when you just want to share a link).
  • Calls with users that do not have an account.
  • Screen sharing might be tricky.
  • Get an email notification for voice mail.

Skype is a good solution to replace regular telephony, especially if the participants in the call are located in different countries. Skype is an old and very famous service that has received international recognition. If we want to provide technical support for clients, then we need VoIP service. Probably, the fact that you need to use something well-known and popular, so that the client does not have to suffer with the search and installation of the appropriate application, sounds quite reasonable. Therefore, we can say that in these cases, Skype is the ideal solution.

I would recommend Skype to many companies who are of a smaller size as I believe their platform with benefit more from Skpye than some of the other tools as Skype is generally or in my belief a better use for smaller firms who have a limited number of employees and should mainly be used in a local setting rather than international.

Skype is very suitable for use in video calls. We rarely have any kind of problem when using Skype to make video calls or chats. The messages arrive quickly and we are very effective in communicating when using the program. We always recommend using it to facilitate the internal communication of the company and also between the company and the customer.

Skype is best suited for chatting with colleagues as the user interface is quite easy and simple to use. Also, suitable for audio/video calls or screen sharing, however, it is best suited when the call is conducted within the same geography e.g. same country, as else has observed a lot of lag between the systems.

I think Skype is best for very basic things that it does well like the chat feature and basic calling. It's good for what I do, which is one-on-one or small groups for coaching. I’ve used it a lot over the years and have seen a lot of improvements to the platform that have made this technology very easy and very accessible for anyone to use at any time. Because it’s so simple, there is nothing that leaves major bottlenecks in the process or stops you from using it. I’ve used it with my coaching clients, my family, and friends all over the world with very few complaints. It’s not great for people who are not good at the computer or have low skills using technology, so probably not great for children either.

Great for working with clients in different countries, projects that require real-time connection without in person meetings and work that requires small to medium sized bandwidth to be completed. I don’t think streaming a company wide meeting would be appropriate because of occasional inconsistencies with the bandwidth on the platform.

Skype is an excellent technology for connecting with people in areas where technology is not as developed. It has an easy to use app and is easy for the families who work with our nonprofit to download and connect with the staff in the orphan communities we serve. The quality of the connection is vital because of the language barrier, and Skype really shines in this area.

Skype was my go to prior to Zoom becoming so universally used. I prefer Skype when interacting with our clients overseas - especially in Mainland China and SE Asia. Skype seems to be their preferred method of contact as well.

In general, Skype provides a great free service that provides quality video and voice calls. They Skype Number you can receive is pretty great as well if you don't have an office number!

Skype is great for more relaxed meetings with a customer or coworker. For example, if I need to meet with one of our superintendents that's currently out of town on a job, I feel comfortable speaking through Skype so I can get a visual representation of the problem at hand. However, if I'm meeting with a client and need a professional space, I'm honestly more likely to use Zoom.
