We use SmartRecruiters for all of our recruitment (Early Careers to Senior Hiring) in the UK and Australia. It supports all the way from attraction to onboarding where we move over to our HRIS. We have our website and LinkedIn integrated from an attraction perspective, DocuSign for contract generation and we're currently moving to a background screening provider who are part of the SR ecosystem.
  • Simple backend set up and admin training
  • Intuitive workflows
  • Could be easier to organise back to back interviews
  • Reporting is mostly very good but can end up with some duplicate data
SmartRecruiters is the best ATS I have used in almost 15 years of recruiting. It's simple to use, has all the functionality you need and hiring managers also use the system very well. I've implemented it twice now and have found the process straightforward compared to other systems. I'd recommend for any organisation needing a solid recruitment platform - works very well globally too.

SmartRecruiters is an incredible tool to keep all parts of the recruitment process in a single place. From posting jobs, managing candidates, keeping track of their status in the process, adding comments and important information about them in an organized way, collaborating with the hiring team, etc.
  • Sending interview and self-schedule interview invitations directly from the platform and integrated to Outlook.
  • All sorts of possibilities to ask questions or add important information about the candidate (screening questions, forms, specific and customized fields such as notice period, salary range or expectations, etc.)
  • The recruiter interface is really good, with lots of details to allow the team to be more organized and efficient
  • Too many filters that are not the most important ones. Sometimes it's hard to find what we are looking for
  • I'd like the possibility to customize the fields and filters more (especially on the candidates tab)
  • Because SmartRecruiters is SO complete, it can be complex to do some setups or to use all its functionalities sometimes
SmartRecruiters is less appropriate when recruiting for a role that can be based in multiple locations (not a remote role, but candidates from different parts of the world are accepted). To save time, we should be able just to duplicate the job and only change the location, but instead we need to rewrite everything. This is one example of an inconvenience.

We use SmartRecruiters as our main Applicant Tracking System. We post all of our jobs through SmartRecruiters, Track Candidates through the entire process from identification to onboarding, schedule the interviews in the system and use it for candidate reach out. It is our primary platform for recruiting and talent management. It is super helpful because we can create templates for common messages like interview scheduling and even integrate SmartRecruiters with our Outlook Calendars so easier scheduling with multiple people and even invite candidates to do self scheduling. This platform is a one stop shop for everything recruiting related that we need.

It is a very user friendly interface that can list all of our open jobs (or filter down to just the ones I want to see) and I am able to find candidates quickly based on where they are in process. The forms are easy to fill out and it is very collaborative to tag people for updates. The interview scheduling capability is easy and shows me my team's calendars (based on their outlook calendar) so I can push out invites with all necessary information. Some of the downside are when reviewing a candidate the resume does not always display properly, however I can download a copy. It also could use a better search function for the candidate database to identify proper talent. Also, when we move candidates between jobs, not all of their information flows through requiring additional manual intervention.

We use SmartRecruiters as a full applicant tracking system, integrated with PhenomPeople on our front-end careers page. We use it to obtain job hire approvals and post job ads to our careers page and other integrated job boards such as TradeMe, LinkedIn and Seek. We also track external and internal applications, process applications through the hiring process (reviewing screening questions and CVs, phone screening, interviewing, submitting applicant comments and ratings, declining applications, and submitting job offers). Our SmartRecruiters is also integrated with DocuSign, allowing us to generate offer details inside SmartRecruiters, which can then flow through to DocuSign to generate contract paperwork. We utilise back-end reporting as well to track our hire and turnover statistics.

  • Settings page can be difficult to navigate & find what you're looking for
  • Job approval chains would be better with additional qualifying fields so that we can segregate different areas of the business better
  • The ability to edit an existing offer template in-system would improve the experience, rather than having to edit offline and upload a whole new version.
Well suited overall for job creations and postings, applicant tracking, and offer creations. Useful for dealing with small and bulk applications, and when you need to post the same types of roles multiple times/regularly. It is more useful when integrated with other systems, e.g. a front-end careers site and a document signing system, to maximise the end-to-end usage.

SmartRecruiters is currently used as a job posting, job application, and job hiring status tool, among other uses. It makes [it] easy for employees to search and review our company's job postings, easy to apply online, and to track the status of [an] application if [the] applicant is moved forward [or if the] application [is] denied and ended. It's also a great way to refer others to jobs within our organization.

  • Application online - Can easily apply for the job directly and see who the hiring manager and hiring recruiter is
  • Log in - sometimes difficult to log in if [the] password was forgotten

I highly recommend SmartRecruiters for all organizations to make job searches and applications smoother and easier. This application is currently well suited for this. I find it easy to search and review the job posting, job description, and criteria. It even shows the direct hiring manager and hiring recruiter. This allows me to send a separate email to either one if I had questions that were not answered directly on the posting.

We use SmartRecruiters company-wide. It is used by our recruitment team and hiring managers. We recently transitioned from another ATS with the hopes of better streamlining our hiring process. This includes posting jobs, booking interviews, candidate communication, etc.
  • Easy to navigate, clean interface.
  • Good communication with recruitment and hiring managers.
  • Candidate rating system.
  • Easy to book interviews with candidates and hiring managers
  • Connection to Microsoft Teams
  • Adding a functionality where it is possible to parse a resume via Outlook.
  • When a candidate applies to more than one role and is hired to one role the rest of the applications should be eliminated so he/she doesn't remain available.
  • Address input in the profile section.
  • Sending job postings to other social media/job aggregators for free.
It has the potential to be a good ATS but it needs some tweaking in order to handle large volume recruitment and make the process much smoother instead of adding more steps.
What works well with smartrecruiters is that they are always listening to their clients' needs and updating their app to suit our needs.

We use SmartRecruiters company wide for internal and external hires. It allows all communication and documentation to be tracked in a single place, which makes reporting and processing simpler. Having a single platform with workflows and templates also assures consistency and quality control, not to mention enforcement of legal and compliance matters.
  • Organization - SmartRecruiters is not so busy that I cannot easily tell what I am looking at. Everything is easy to navigate and follow intuitively.
  • Workflow - SmartRecruiters allows me to set up logical connections to automate subsequent fields in job creation. This aids in accuracy of job creation to match our payroll system, plus makes the process of creating a new requisition/ad faster.
  • Approvals - Approvals of job requisitions and offers could not be simpler.
  • Customization - There is very little that cannot be customized and/or branded to fit my organization's needs, including connecting to my other business platforms.
  • Reporting - There are several fields that are not easily reported on in SmartRecruiters. They have made some significant improvements, but there are still inaccessible fields in the reporting tool that would help me avoid using another service to build my reports.
  • Posting Partners - SmartRecruiters has made recent changes in their contracts with high visibility platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed which may not fit with what I am trying to do or what I have done in the past.
  • Offer Templates - Creating a good looking offer template that goes to the recipient exactly the way it looks when I built it is nearly impossible. The import mechanism only accepts .doc (but really wants a .doc created in LibreOffice if you want spacing and paragraphing to work perfectly). In short, there is a lot of guessing to getting offer letters just right, unless you want a plain text offer letter (and who does?).
I think any business can benefit from SmartRecruiters, but especially businesses of 300 or more employees. Smaller independent businesses might find SmartRecruiters a little too feature rich, especially if there is only one recruiter or only one or two hiring locations. I believe SmartRecruiters works very well for enterprise level companies with 5000+ employees. This is a good system and it does what it is supposed to do. Reliability is high. Service and response is reasonably fast.

We use SmartRecruiters to manage the entire hiring pipeline, from advertising open positions, to screening candidates and conducting resume intake, to scheduling phone screens and interviews, collecting feedback from hiring panels, communications with candidates, and final job offer details. The collaborative aspects and single-pane-of-glass workflows keeps everyone on the same page and keeps the process very smooth!

  • Integrated email management keeps all communications together
  • Feedback form makes it easy for hiring panels to discuss observations
  • UI is not very snappy and sometimes is slow to move from candidate to candidate
  • More canned responses in form emails
  • More focus on keeping initial screening questions in one place
Great for all teams, large and small, to stay organized while conducting a search for an ideal candidate. Makes it easy for remote teams to come together and discuss their impressions of a candidate even if interviews are conducted remotely. We use SmartRecruiters as a way to digitally accept and store all resumes that come into our company. We also communicate with the applicants directly through the SmartRecruiters program. It helped us solve the amount of time we were investing in keeping up with paper files.
  • Ease of use when entering candidate's information, uploading documents, using templates for emails, etc.
  • Visually, it is easy to read through the information and navigate from one job to another.
  • Analytics are accurate and easy to find.
  • Glitches from time to time and have to refresh or re-start
  • The ability to add more templates to send out different types of correspondence through the platform
I can't think of any company that wouldn't benefit from using SmartRecruiters. However, our company is on the small side and we don't have a lot of open positions, so it is manageable.

Bigger companies may need more bells and whistles, but this has worked out great for our needs. We have 1-2 jobs open per month, so it suits our needs.

  • Clear and easy to navigate interface.
  • Advanced search function.
  • Tracking communications between HR, hiring managers, and candidates.
  • Management of attachments, especially in cases where an applicant has applied previously to other positions within the company.
  • General bugs in terms of performance (slow loading time, broken links, error messages).
Well-suited: I can autonomously screen candidates who have applied to my job and use the ratings and notes features to ask my recruiter to contact potential fits for a first screen.
Less appropriate: To do post-mortems on a candidate interview (detailed breakdown of pros and cons) - we still do this by email.

  • It could allow for more jobs posts. Without an upgrade, currently, you can post up to 10.
  • It could allow similar jobs posts. If you have a nurse needed in many areas, you have to recreate the ad and find new ways to describe a nurse opening. It's very time-consuming.

We employ SmartRecruiters to distribute open requisitions to job aggregates for sourcing and to post to our website. We also use the applicant tracking features to screen candidates, to schedule interviews, rate and review candidates and to notify candidates of hiring decisions. The message templates are customizable and easy to use and a real time saver! We also use the hiring analytics tools to analyze past hiring trends and costs and to shape our future hiring decisions, which ultimately affect the direction and nature of future business growth - after all a business is its people! Best thing about SmartRecruiters is the support team!
  • The Support Team is super responsive and quick to resolve issues accurately the first time! They are also super friendly, which goes a long way!
  • SmartRecruiters allows users to customize the workflow based on their particular needs.
  • The platform in general is very user friendly and compared to other ATS it is very intuitive and easy to train others on.
  • The mobile app is great!
  • As an agency, we would love to see SmartRecruiters roll out nationwide job listings that can push to aggregates in multiple locations!
  • We would also like to see the platform tie into local and state college jobs boards including an integration with HandShake!
SmartRecruiters is suited toward filling single job openings, but is less user friendly when you would like to fill multiple positions in varying locations with one job posting.

SmartRecruiters is being used to find Waterpark Staff. It was a program that was in place upon my arrival. SmartRecruiters is a useful tool in connecting me to applicants that I might not otherwise locate and have the chance to interview.

  • SmartRecruiters is another tool to use in my recruitment of new staff.
  • Smartrecruiters allows me to prescreen applicants without going through the interview process. I receive an email anytime there is a potential candidate to review.
  • SmartRecruiters allows me a place to keep job descriptions posted indefinitely.
  • Have SmartRecruiters screen applicants. For examples: try to gauge the level of interest an applicant has in finding a job...casual, semi-serious, serious; are they looking for full-time, part-time, on call; what hour are they looking for days, mids, nights, weekends.
  • A link indicator of the applicant posting a resume. Some of the applicants are in their profile, some are attached, and it is not always easy to determine which is which.
  • Have the applicant select an expiration date on their interest. For example, I was on vacation shortly before a recruit posted an interest. By time I got back to her, she was no longer interested. However, I spent 3 days trying to pursue her before discovering her lack of interest.
SmartRecruiters allows me to access applicants in areas that I would not normally think to search. It gives me an additional tool to recruit potential staff besides professional networking, word of mouth, and recruitment of friends of current staff. It also allows me the opportunity to keep an ongoing hiring process by keeping my job descriptions out on the web.

SmartRecruiters is our go-to hiring platform at Sculpt. We're a small shop, so lots of people have their hands in HR. I need administrative control of our software, but want others to collaborate. SR made that easy. We also needed a product that would streamline the chaotic process of recruiting, vetting and evaluating potential candidates, and nothing has come close to SmartRecruiters. We don't hire frequently, but when we do, it has to be smart.
  • Creating and seamlessly syndicating job postings across the right places on the web
  • Managing a database of job candidates in an easy-to-navigate interface
  • Collaborating with our team throughout the entire selection process
  • Communicating with candidates through the hiring process
  • Sorting candidates by various attributes and ratings
  • We never nail a job description the first time. A more clear and seamless edit function would ensure we can make changes on the fly without walking through the entire publishing process again
  • Making blind hiring easier would be helpful
  • Candidates often miss our request to upload additional documents because the only place to add it is buried in the main description
  • Would be nice to upload or embed better media from more sources
  • Integration with other job networks means the formatting looks a little funky when uploaded
Some recruiters may require additional form fields, SR leaves things pretty open. I was perfectly happy with that. SR's SmartStart product is perfect for a small company hiring a few people a year.

We are a franchise organization, so the need to coordinate across multiple shops in a given market is important. We get input from our home office but maintain complete hiring authority at each location. The ability to save a job, collaborate with others and then integrate with various job boards for promotion has been helpful. I have been pleased with SmartRecruiters.

  • Organization: SmartRecruiters is an easy way to keep organized pushing candidates through each stage, with indications, as we go.
  • Tags: The tag function allows you to pinpoint specifics of certain candidates and search those specifics, when needed.
  • App: The SmartRecruiters App allows on the go access for hiring managers to review candidates.
  • Recently Viewed: It would be great if SmartRecruiters had a recently viewed section on the side so that you can easily return to recent profiles.
  • Pulling Data: SmartRecruiters is limited in pulling specific information and has much room to improve.
Well suited as there is no limit to logging email correspondence with candidates as the years go by. Easy pipeline as you work a candidate from application to hire stage.

Less appropriate for pulling data required for upper Management reviews.

SmartRecruiters is being implemented across the organization. All managers, recruiters, business partners and directors will use the system on a day to day basis. The employee population will also have access to the employee site/referral portal. The system allow us to work smarter not longer. It allows us to save money on job board distribution and integrates well with LinkedIn.

  • The ability to change things your self is amazing.
  • There is no ability to post only internally, every job gets posted internally and externally
  • The levels of security and functionality needs to be rethought. Managers should be able to view but not edit.

SmartRecruiters is primarily used by the management team in our 20-employee company. We advertise all open positions on this platform.
  • It keeps all of our applicants organized by position and has become indispensable to our operation.
  • We were able to incorporate our printed employment application online, which streamlined the process and made it paperless.
  • By posting each job to many sites, it saves us a lot of time and gives us good visibility. Also, the analytics that go with that make it valuable.
  • SmartRecruiters has great customer support!
  • The Lead functionality is not that clear and could use a different solution.
When recruiting for niche positions, we also go out on individual, industry-specific job boards.

SmartRecruiters is our only ATS system so we use it for job postings, applicant tracking, reporting, and data collection. It's housed in HR but used by all hiring managers/teams. It has helped to streamline our process and keep our process consistent.
  • The system is very intuitive. It's easy to navigate and there is more than one way to get to a particular place in the system.
  • They launch new system updates almost monthly, so it demonstrates they are listening to their customers and always working to improve the system.
  • I wish you were able to edit things once submitted.
  • The offer letter templates don't pull the fields like I wish they would. I often have to type in each candidate's address because it doesn't pull it from the resume (this is likely because people put their address in different places on their resume).
It's a very easy system to learn. When we first bought the system 3 years ago, there was a lot of functionality missing, but it has drastically improved over the years.

SmartRecruiters has changed the entire recruiting process for us and has helped us become more efficient as a team. We are able to do so much more with less time and this allows us to be strategic as we go through the recruiting process. We have also had a better success rate in filling roles with less downtime as well as view metrics to see what is working and what isn't in our search and make adjustments.
  • Recruiting Metrics. I love the dashboard for each role and easily being able to see important recruiting data at the click of a mouse. This is helpful as we look for trends in our process as well as when we show hiring managers and senior leaders the type of candidates we have in our pipeline.
  • Team Plan. On the team plan, you are able to make comments to other members of your team about a candidate as well as send hiring managers messages regarding where we are in the process of filling an open position. This communication is huge and helps everyone involved feel at ease and part of the process.
  • The app! Being able to review new candidates and move them along in the process all from my phone or tablet has changed the way I work! I am able to look at resumes in real time and schedule out next steps quickly with ease.
  • I do not have any suggestions for improvements at this time! I have really enjoyed learning SR and have been impressed with how easy they make it to use.
I believe that SmartRecruiters is well-suited no matter the size of the company. We have around 200 employees company wide and it has been extremely helpful in making our process more automated as well as keeping those involved in a particular hiring up to speed. I wish we would have had this when we were smaller and would image that we will use this as we continue to see growth.

SmartRecruiters is used to manage the application process for new potential hires in all departments. It is organized into different pipelines and assigned to that designated hiring manager to manage the pipeline and contact the candidates that apply for that position. We use it for hiring new employees across the entire organization.

  • Occasionally certain links take a long time to load or send a message multiple times.
