The most effective piece for candidate experience is the templates. Tasks such as requesting an interview or rejecting a candidate can be done simply and quickly. Communication with the candidate is uniform and helps to create an environment of fairness.

There isn't a day that goes that I don't get candidates emailing me twice because they don't have confidence that I'm getting their communications via the smartrecruiters email system. Other applicant systems show the email address of the recruiter, but SmartRecruiters responds with a very long reply email address "50+ numbers, symbols and letters"@mail.smartrecruiters.com

This doesn't give candidates comfort that they are responding to a human, but to a system.

In scheduling candidates, the email template doesn't allow you to have inserted a more professional display of the interview date and time: here's the sample: Fri, 20-Jan-17 11:45 AM PST. While this isn't bad, it's not how you would normally write it in the US. for example, I'd like to see this displayed as: Friday, Jan 20, 2017, at 11:45 am PST. It looks automated.

Candidate experience is great. They can create SR profiles simply by linking it to their LinkedIn account or uploading their resume. This significantly increases the appeal for candidates to apply as they would not need to create an entirely new account from scratch. Most job sites have long and convoluted process to create an account to apply for a job posting, and as most people have short attention span, having to fill out lengthy online application form could be extremely discouraging. Candidates can also check in their SR account for the progress of their application, of course assuming that the hiring manager updates their statuses correctly.

However, for my company's purpose, we have separate screening questions for every job posting. We have a standard set of questions that everyone has to fill out, but a few extra questions for each department that are different. If a candidate applies for more than one job, they have to fill out every set of screening questions which is quite painful repetitive and painful for them.

The candidate experience is very contemporary. Applying is easy and fast. Following the progress of your application is transparent, and communicating with the hiring team is easy. The application itself is mobile-enabled, and visually appealing.

It's very user friendly for candidates! However not sure of how good it is for a candidate tracking the hiring process. It has a very basic application form that could be filled out without any problems. It also make it easy for us to add any questions on the application.

Being able to apply with LinkedIn is fast and simple. However, with MPC being in the VFX industry candidates need to submit a portfolio in the form of a website and it isn't always easy. Most candidates have content in their portfolio that cannot be shown to the general public which is protected in the form of a password. There is no area to enter this password besides putting in a screening question, which is on a completely separate page of the applicant's application.

The candidate is able to apply quickly and with minimal effort - from there, the candidate is able to see where they are in the process at all times. This level of transparency eliminates the sense of 'ATS black hole' that most candidates experience when applying online.

I believe it makes the application process easier for candidates by allowing them to apply via a number of job sites. It is much easier to just apply via LinkedIn instead of having to attach a cover letter and cv. We can email the candidates directly from SmartRecruiters and they can email us.

I only say nine as there are some things that can not be controlled by the tool. I still have to do the work of communicating with the candidate. However, this tool provides the best possible vehicle for facilitating communications between our company and the candidate. Also - the candidate gets input from our corporate office and contributes to the feeling that the candidate is joining an organization bigger than just one location.

I think most candidates enjoy the experience and process. However some get lost in the process. I am not sure if things can be made more clear, either on a label or user interface level or if the process can be streamlined, but I have heard some people struggle with it. I think the people who love it, love it, But if you are new, there is a learning curve.

The pool that we reached out to had a hit ratio of 1:385. I had done some specific hiring for the Africa Market, but the reach out pool was very poor and hence my rating of 4 for candidate quality. You will need to build a direct candidate access in the marketplace.

I do think that it is easy for candidates to apply for multiple jobs and check the status of their application. However, after that point I'm not sure that it improves the candidate experience much.

Sometimes candidates do not receive the email responses or the email is sent to their junk mail. It would be great if SmartRecruiters could force these emails into their inboxes. That would improve the candidate process.
