As a coordinator, I get questions daily from Hiring Managers abouIt how to do something in SmartRecruiters. I do believe in large part this is due to insufficient training, but also can tell that it is not self explanatory enough for them to figure it out without asking questions.

Only a few hiring managers use SmartRecruiter. I give a tutorial to each hiring manager when I start a new requisition, whenever possible. Most ignore it. It's not intuitive. I get complaints on the scheduling application. I can't copy a hiring manager on an email to a candidate, I can only blind copy the hiring manager on email communications. There's a long list of how communicating with hiring managers could be improved including reporting.

As discussed in my list of cons, for my company's purpose, I would not give 10 out of 10 because there are still some things that are not quite perfect (ie: the unclickable links on web browser or on the SR App).

Some hiring managers have completely embraced it, including our CEO when we were hiring a new CFO. They love being able to see who has applied, what sources they came from, what the interview notes and ratings are, and understanding what stage in the process the hiring team is up to. They also use the messaging tools to discuss candidates.

Others take a more hands-off approach and allow the hiring team to handle things in their own time, however driving them to use the tool to a basic level, like sharing the job with their professional and social networks, is relatively easy to do.

With a little bit of training it is relatively easy to use for managers, however it would be good to send them some training or a how to guide for new users as part of an email template. Or a really basis step by step how to guide for first time users.

Once a hiring manager is connected to a req they can have accessibility to view candidates and details about the req. They also get alerts that let them know they there's a note in the system regarding them.

It's user friendly and provides hiring managers with info from the team to make decisions in real time. They are able to use it on smart phones and other devices without a problem. Don’t need to wait around to make decisions that affect our time and cost money. No big meetings for a decision on candidates this is done virtual with all dept. or opinions in the app. Very Good!

It is very easy for hiring managers to use - I like that they can access information on the go via mobile devices as they are often very busy and are able to multitask. There still needs to be further work done on making the initial log on and set up easier but I believe that is being worked on.

Overall the tool is easy and intuitive for hiring managers to use and see what other members of the team have observed with evaluating individual candidates. The only challenge is in the resurrection of past applicants that have been archived and getting them folded into the latest opportunity offered by our company. For example, a candidate that applied 2 years ago and was narrowly beaten out by another candidate; we would like to approach them about future positions and integrate them into the current job opportunity. This can be difficult.

Again, I think when you have been given a tutorial (our recruiting director does this with all of our franchise owners) it's great to use. However, if you have never used it and try to use it on your own, there is a steep learning curve. Perhaps some short videos that show how to best use the site would be beneficial.

It takes some time to show them the ins and outs. This hinders the process and those hiring managers who do not have the bandwidth to learn how just don't use it. It could be simplified for those hiring managers who do not want or have time for a training session.
