Snagit is a critical tool that we use here in Information Systems to help with our technical support and training. It is an invaluable tool for showing exactly where an issue is and how to find different elements of an application. We even use it with the screen recording videos to show exactly how to utilize different functions.
  • Marking up screenshots in clear ways.
  • selecting and allowing manipulation within screenshots (cropping, etc.).
  • Blurring selectively without distracting.
  • Unable to record video within an RDP session.
  • Uses significant memory.
  • Learning curve takes a little while but once you know the tool it works well.
I suggest Snagit to everyone I talk to that works in any technology space, as I feel that every single employee in any technology space can benefit from the tool. This allows everyone from Accounts Payable to Human Resources to the IT Helpdesk can use Snagit and have huge productivity gains.

Snagit is being used by multiple departments across the organization. It addresses problems of communication and brings clarity of purpose especially when it comes to showing others how something is done in any software. You can grab multiple screenshots and compose them in any number of ways to show what your screen looks like, which helps communication by bringing the communicators all onto the same page.
  • Snagit helps annotate screenshots.
  • Snagit has tools such as arrows, text, callouts, stamps, blur, crop, cutout, and magnify, etc.
  • Snagit has effects such as borders, edges, page curl, shadows, filters, color replacement, and watermark, etc.
  • It would be helpful if Snagit had the ability to "un-flatten" a composition after it has been flattened.
  • It would be helpful if Snagit had the ability to add hyperlinks to portions of an image.
I love how Snagit can make image backgrounds transparent. I also love the "Step" feature for showing sequential processes, which helps illuminate the steps one needs to take to accomplish a task.

Snagit can be used anytime you need to do screen grabs. I make powerpoint slides with it, grab things for email, documentation, or technical training. It is so much more powerful than the built in windows tool. It's especially useful when you want to clip something from a page that scrolls or you have to move side to side. Even best of all is the editor that comes with it. I have been able to make tons of step by step guides with it.
  • Easy to use
  • Reasonable priced
  • Full featured screen grab and video capture
  • Can't think of any
Snagit is amazing. I couldn't do a lot of my job without it. I just used it to help make documentation on our security procedures. Everyone that sees me use it asks what that is and how do they get it.

Our entire organization uses this software in order to easily share screenshots and quickly edit images for easy sharing. It is used a lot in our training and IT departments to easily explain issues since a user can screenshot exactly what they are seeing on their screen and share it to others for a quick understanding.
  • Screen Capturing
  • Image Editing
  • Converting image files
  • Better Shortcuts
  • More editing capabilities
  • Keyboard shortcuts
SnagIt is really suited for creating tutorials, trainings, and Powerpoints for an organization. It provides an easy way to capture an image on a screen and quickly save it or paste it for sharing purposes. For example, if an IT professional is trying to show someone where to click on a screen, they can screenshot their own screen, add an arrow or highlight on the exact area to click, and then save the image and email that to a user. It's probably less appropriate for users who mostly prefer screen sharing instead of needing to add images to training or emails.

Snagit is a fantastic screen capturing software with unlimited use cases. Being in training myself, I used it daily to capture and record walkthroughs of processes and highlight specific icons when showing how to follow said processes. It was also useful for recording voice over those walkthroughs so I could provide commentary on what is happening, why it is important, and what to do next.
  • Screen capture
  • Recording
  • Image editing
  • Document management
  • Layout of the app
  • Capturing scrolling images
  • Advanced image editing
If you work in any type of training or admin role where you need to show someone how to access files, sign documents, complete forms, or interact in any way with another system - then Snagit is great for being able to show this process by recording your screen while you voice over what to do. If you are making job aids it is also great to include screenshots.

Snagit is mainly used within my department, and some others across the organization that have to use screen capturing frequently. In my department, a lot of information used to do our job is obtained through screenshotting during live screensharing, in order to get real-time information. Snagit is also used in my department for the creating of whitepapers/workpapers, and had made the process much easier.
  • Snagit has many various "snagging" options that will capture your desired region, window, or full screen, and with out the frustration of clicking and dragging to get your desired snapshot. The automated recognition of borders/regions is so helpful.
  • The Snagit output options are so useful too. When I'm taking screenshot after screenshot in a meeting, all of the screenshots get put straight into a document for me to access as needed. The reliability is great.
  • The key shortcut feature of Snagit is something I probably couldn't live without. When I have to be speedy and efficient with taking screens, the quick keys are awesome.
  • Overall, they have so many different settings and outputs that you can completely customize to your most effective screenshotting habits.
  • The All-In-One vs. Image choice can be a bit confusing. I've just learned to stick to what I know.
  • There aren't any settings to adjust how long the "Image Captured" confirmation hangs around; when I have to be quick and frequent with screenshotting, sometimes it gets in the way.
Snagit is great for situations where you have to take frequent, quick, well-optimized image screenshots. Snagit's settings also allow for instant editing if necessary, and the output settings will place your screenshots in whichever application you choose (Word, email, Excel, Paint, its own image file, etc.). If your screen capturing is sporadic, or doesn't need to have clean/exact lines, then the investment probably isn't necessary.

We use Snagit very frequently. A principal use is to extract graphics from presentations and/or photos and utilize them in corporate presentations. It is used by many of our employees across various functional groups.
It provides a simple means of enhancing presentations without having to attempt to redraw figures, charts, and other graphics It is also very convenient to use in cutting/pasting text from files, emails, and webpages
  • Cut out graphics and replace into other programs
  • Library functions allow one to build up an archive of frequently used images
  • System is very easy to use without extensive training and helpfuls are indeed helpful
  • Ability to scale an extracted image can sometimes result in image being incorrectly resized
It is super at extracting charts and images from all sorts of media - powerpoint, webpages, various files and spreadsheets, etc. These are then easily stored in the library and adjusted if needed. From there it can be inserted into new documents, presentations and the like

[Snagit] is used by select individuals to grab screen data, provide comments to screen captures, and for training content.
  • Screen capture
  • How to scenarios with on screen markups
  • Use for creating training materials
  • Background limitation to square. Would like to capture and use just an image I could snap to
  • Speedier loading on my surface (although quite fast but does have a pause in Loring at times)
  • Editing of item markups sometimes difficult as a click adds new items and avoids selecting an item to edit
Love screen capture with on screen menus engaged. Very easy to add comments to images and cut and paste into emails for visual instructions “how to”.

When we are creating new training manuals for our computer classes we use Snagit to capture snapshots of portions of the software that we are explaining in the manual. We also use it to take snapshots of end-users screens via remote sessions when there is a technical issue so that we can diagnose it better.
  • Capture full screens
  • Capture portions of screens
  • Capture objects on screen
  • Easier object capture
  • Better way to set defaults
  • Options to combine images into one file directly from Snagit
Program makes is very easy to capture a whole screen or just a part of it. It even allows you to capture a predefined section of a program like a Ribbon Tab in or a section of a program. If you are in Outlook for example you can select just the Favorites pane or the current email list pane and it will select only that. You can also set it to allow you to drag and select a subset of a screen. It can even select individual icons on the Ribbon in a program like Word or Excel. This makes it really handy for us when we are writing new manuals and need snapshots of what we are discussing on that particular page of the manual.

It is used across the organization but only by those who specifically ask for it. It is oftentimes used by project managers, or those in Learning and Development to create visuals. The business problem Snagit addresses is that the snipping tool provided by Microsoft is not sufficient to allow for the markups on visuals that lead to better presentations.
  • Capture all or part of a screen or capture a screen recording. I use Snagit to quickly show someone how to do something via screen video capture, or to mark up a screen capture with steps (1, 2, 3)
  • Snagit houses all of your snips without having to save them. You can go back in time and find screen snips you took years ago where as with the snipping tool you need to save your snips.
  • I love the call out feature, the highlighter, and the step features. It makes markup quick and easy.
  • I wish Snagit had a record feature for webcam. I know I can use Camtasia, but I am always in Snagit and it would be helpful to have it there.
  • The stamps are limited and you have to buy more if you want to add additional ones. I feel they should be included in the license cost.
  • I wish there was a tool like photoshop where you can clone part of the picture. If I want to hide something, I have to create a shape the same color and insert it over where I cut it out.
I use Snagit on a daily basis at least a number of times per day. I use it to capture screenshots mostly. In a meeting and they did not share the deck? Snagit. Someone shared something important in the chat and you don't want to lose it? Snagit! Want to annotate screenshots? Snagit. Want to create step-by-step instructions? Snagit.

Probably not appropriate if you want to create super custom-looking things as if you want to bring in other stamps etc, you need to purchase them. You could however get creative and save images you find online, and bring them in as part of your snag it, but that is a bunch of extra steps.

Snagit is used by multiple individuals across our organization and it helps tremendously when explaining scenarios or situations to employees who need the visual aide when we show them their time card or reports that have confidentiality associated with them. We also use the video function and the scroll and panoramic view which is an upgrade from the Snipping Tool that is standard among most laptops.
  • The delay function.
  • Video recording.
  • Snapshots.
  • Sometimes the panoramic view sticks.
  • Too many update requests.
  • Sometimes the capturing of the scroll is off when multiple exist on a screen.
Snagit is a useful tool which I personally enjoy using. For example, when an employee or manager has a question about their time-card, it helps us send them a snap shot of it with visuals for areas of focus and annotation if necessary. This makes it a perfect tool for assisting. Explaining to employees and creating instructional documents it is very helpful. It may have some update issues, but other than that it was very helpful.

Snagit is being used by all staff members within our organization. I, being part of the IT department, use it to create step-by-step guides for staff, training materials, screenshots for reports and PowerPoint presentations. A majority of the staff use it when communicating with their customers to illustrate issues and/or changes needed on forms that the customers have filled out. They do also use if for grabbing screenshots for PowerPoint presentations as well as for their own reference.

Initially this was purchased because our only option had been doing a print screen, which would turn the selection into a bitmap file, which is not really editable. This product, SnagIt, gave staff a better and easier way to capture images (regions, scrolling pages, panoramic shots, and even videos) and the ability to add text to them, call-outs, image effects, black out/highlight areas, and blur--all of which was not doable with a basic screen capture.
  • Variety of screen capture types: region, window, scrolling, panoramic
  • Ability to edit the captured image
  • Ease of use for staff
  • Saves captured image into a wide variety of file types
  • With certain websites, sometimes the scrolling function does not to work the way it is intended and when that happens, I simply have to switch to panoramic instead.
  • Hitting the print screen key opens the screen capture utility but I would like to see it open up to the capture selection type instead.
Snagit is perfect for those who create guides, instructions, PowerPoints, and any other presentation or document type that needs to have images included. Snagit is even able to do video capture, even though they have a separate product (Camtasia) that allows for more in-depth video capture and editing abilities. This package is simple enough to use and doesn't require a powerhouse system nor computer-savvy people to use it.

It is not mandated to use Snagit across the organization. It is much more of a choice by a user. I do know it is used as the predominant screen capture tool, however. As for what business problem is addresses; I would say the ability to do the following:
  • Quickly capture a screenshot of information to save and or forward as needed
  • Capture misinformation
  • Document an error
  • Capture the workflow; how to reproduce a workflow error (video capture)
  • One click screen capture. Simply either select from the on-screen activation icon or select "Print Screen" from your keyboard to perform a screen capture
  • The accuracy of the selection. You are able to get down to the pixel level to line up your capture.
  • The ability to quickly switch between settings (capture size, static or video, etc.)
  • Scrolling capture. It certainly could be user error, but I have not been able to perform a scrolling capture. This has been somewhat of an issue when the item I need to capture extends greater than a single browser window.
  • Video capture stoppage: If you run more than a single monitor it can be tricky to keep track of the controls of a video capture
  • Captions - While the system provides various bubble caption options they are pretty rudimentary. Not as clean and/or professional as you might want or say to the art objects in PowerPoint.
In my position I lead a product team. I perform quite a bit of workflow analysis and user experience design. As such I am constantly having to create and take snapshots of user interfaces, workflow errors (video capture of step by step process to recreate an error), general screengrabs to create help one-sheets, and or creating quick 1-2 minute tutorial videos. Snagit performs all of these functions easily and consistently. Pairing the video capture with Camtasia the video editing software I am able to quickly create very helpful videos as needed.

Now it is not made for creating highly animated and or polished videos. It is focused on quickly, accurately, and successfully capturing what is in front of you on the screen.

Snagit is an approved tool within the company and is used frequently by our department. We work a lot with various technologies and have used Snagit to create demo and instructional videos for our [immediate] team members as well as internal stakeholders. We also use it while testing new technologies, products or software to capture errors or functionality issues that help our IT team troubleshoot and resolve glitches.
  • Offers various options in terms of capturing device sound and/or microphone sound.
  • Really easy to edit/trim down videos
  • I like being able to pause the recording in order to complete forms while doing demo videos so that the audience doesn't have to sit through me typing, I just pause - fill out the form - and then start recording again to proceed with the demo.
  • Having more options of where/what to capture on the screen would be helpful (being able to resize the capture area)
  • Not sure if this is already an option, but being able to overlay text on the final video would be helpful while doing demos -- i.e. adding an arrow or the ability to highlight something without using your cursor.
Snagit is perfectly suited to screen capture as our team walks through new technologies and/or processes so that we can share demo/instructional videos. It has been a very valuable educational tool for us and has help alleviate a lot of questions we used to get from individuals who need to see how something works in order to understand it.

As we have been evaluating new virtual technologies for our team and going through UAT testing internally, Snagit has been used to capture instances where something isn't working correctly or as we think it should and we've been able to share those videos with programmers so they more easily understand what the issue is for troubleshooting purposes.

Snagit is being used across the whole consulting department. It helps to document issues, train users, and create documentation. With Snagit, we don't have to make the images of design changes from scratch. Also, we use the videos to train customers. On emails is also a helpful tool that helps to communicate by using captured images.
  • Capture images that can be used to build documentation and communicate with others
  • Create quick videos that can be used for training
  • Edit pictures
  • Add effects to pictures
  • More functionality to store pictures in different folders
  • Edit videos

I use Snagit in the creation of training materials and supporting materials. When we need detailed, picture-based instructions, Snagit is PERFECT. When you need to send quick instructions that are made on the fly to an employee via email, Snagit provides just-in-time instruction that provides not only excellent instruction but also looks professional.
  • Picture-based instruction
  • Quickly made, professional instructions for “just-in-time” training and guidance.
  • It would be great to have the ability to import designs to use as permanent, selectable effects for other pictures.
  • More keyboard shortcuts for specific effects
Snagit is the ideal tool to create instructions for the software. It is easy to design pleasing, professional instruction that is easy to view and make sense. If you need to edit a picture and remove color, etc. quickly, Snagit is also excellent. While it does not have the horsepower of something like Adobe Photoshop, it works to get the job done. And, it’s so easy to use, you can quickly throw to gather some instructions to email team members who need assistance.

Snagit has been my 'go-to' capture software for over 21 years. Simple to use, it does the job of capturing selections or scrolling open windows. I can confirm or tweak capture size as needed. Snagit lets me edit the contents later, add notes, join (paste) other capture(s), grab text (editable, copyable), and save as a .snag(it) file or other formats including PDF.
  • Dynamic selection(s) capture
  • Grab text (most useful)
  • Draw a temporary line, rotate image to that vertical or horizontal line orientation (straighten)
Snagit works extremely well for doing screen-captures of selections, windows, and auto-scrolling. Easy to save in .snag(it) editable format or other popular image formats. Snagit keeps years of snagged (recallable) images in its history library. Capturing purchase images and descriptions (like from Amazon). Very useful every day.

Snagit is currently being used by our Learning Management System department and allows us to capture screenshots within our LMS. It gives us the ability to create job aids for our users.
  • The layout is very simple and not clustered.
  • Saves screenshots in one space to use access easily.
  • The ability to share content to our SME’s for review.
  • More options to share images.
  • More visual options.
Snagit is well suited for creating visual presentations either by using the image capture option or video recording option. The ease of use and layout within the program is very beneficial as an admin. We create visual job aids within a PDF or through video.

Snagit is used primarily for screen capture to be included in HTML-formatted emails, documentation in pdf or doc format, and our HelpDesk ticket system. The IT department mainly uses this for developers and DevOps as well as the marketing department in creating tickets.
  • Snagit provides easy screen capture when tied to the PrnScrn Windows keyboard key (or other assigned key).
  • Once a region is captured, it is easily edited to reduce the image size and resolution as well as annotate with the highlighter, pointer, shape, and other "tools."
  • Captures can then either be copied to the clipboard for pasting in emails or saved as files in various formats.
  • I find the Snagit editor handy for editing existing images by cropping, resizing, annotating, etc. as an alternative to other image editors.
  • Snagit can capture images that are larger than displayed by automatically scrolling the image. Sometimes, this does not work well; either the resulting image is not complete or not scrolled at all (version 13).
  • Snagit has many functions and can get confusing. Basic functionality is easy, but some advanced features require a learning curve and viewing of tutorials.
  • I find some settings are not remembered. For example, drawing a rectangle around something to highlight may hide what's inside the rectangle. I then have to undo that shape, enable a transparent fill (instead of white fill), and try again (version 13).
I like Snagit and use it daily. I recommend the utility to everyone, including my wife and kids.

It is used for editing images and for creating short videos and demos. What I enjoy about Snagit is how easy it is to take something from an image, a website, even something like youtube and copy it and paste it for your own usage. Once you do that Snagit it gives you all kinds of options in order to be able to change and manipulate the image, more importantly, though it is very simple to use and anyone can learn it.
  • Ease of use, you can literally pick this up and start using it immediately without much training.
  • It has a lot of options once you cut and clip your image, do you want to turn it into a picture? Edit it? All easy to use.
  • Can change your media from an image to a graphic.
  • There isn't anything that I don't think it doesn't do well.
Snagit I think is best suited if you are an instructional designer and have to pull images from the internet because you don't have an internal marketing team or aren't a graphic designer yourself. Snagit as a stand-alone tool can help you create thousands of images/videos if you are talented enough to understand how to manipulate an image/video for your needs. It really is a very encompassing tool.

It's used by the sales department. Allows capture of data for developing presentation information, reports, documents.
  • Very good range capture
  • Allows basic editing to captured image
  • Allows you to save an image effectively
  • The scrolling web page capture can be a little hard to use.
  • Sometimes active drop down disappears and you have to go into app to restart it.
Very effective for capturing screen images and letting you do basic editing. Great for pointing out areas to focus on in an image with arrows etc.

We use Snagit to principally capture screenshots. Screenshots are important in our day to day Software Validation work since it is used as evidence that software works (or not) as expected. Snagit offers a lot of editing options, which are fantastic.
  • Snagit offers a lot of editing functionality.
  • Snagit allows capturing videos.
  • 200% better that the sniping tool.
  • Honestly, I cannot figure out how Snagit could be better than that.
We use Snagit to capture evidence during software verification and software validation. The classification of screenshots, as well as the editing options, allow us clear reporting. For us, Snagit is well suited for all aspects of our daily work. I cannot identify scenarios where the application should be improved. It is a high-quality application.

My team uses Snagit to document work instructions and process instructions. This tool is very easy to use and to teach others to use. It captures real time data and allows you to insert step by step instructions right into the software you are using or a document you are creating for others to use.
  • Captures real time data from a page on your desktop that you are viewing.
  • I really like the ability to either use an arrow as a pointer or to circle certain information on the document/page.
  • In particular we use the insertion of text to enter instructions or describe what we are pointing to.
  • Sometimes there is a limitation on the size of the window we are trying to capture so it cuts off a bit.
I really like that this tool is a one stop shop that allows you to enter clear cut instructions for any user to follow. I've had very positive feedback from users describing how they like the format of the instructions and how easy it is to follow. I've actually showed employees how to use the tool and they have purchased for use in their departments.

We use Snagit for its superb screenshot capabilities. We started buying licenses many years ago and our users love it so we kept buying and using it. Its editing features are its most loved ones. I love the modern and simple look, while still having all the features available. The zoom option allows for exact screenshotting. We not only use it for documentation but the Web Design department is also a fan.
  • Screenshot options are plenty.
  • Editing is superb.
  • Lots of export options available.
  • Can't think of a mentionable downside. Product exists for years and I think they nailed it!
Making screenshots, editing them and exporting to a variety of formats. If you need more options than the default Windows/Mac screenshot capabilities. If you create documentation this product is a must! Easily the best on the market.
