Convenient Integration: Many users have found IPAM's integration with the SolarWinds suite to be convenient for tracking multiple sites and subnets. This feature has been praised by several reviewers as it allows them to easily manage their IP address allocation and DNS updates in one centralized solution.

Efficient IP Management: The ability of IPAM to manage IP addresses and update DNS as soon as a device is discovered has been highly valued by users. This functionality has proven useful for managing IP address availability and ensuring accurate DNS updates, according to numerous reviewers.

Effective Capacity Planning: Users appreciate IPAM's ability to reserve and comment on IP addresses for effective IP address allocation and capacity planning. Several reviewers have noted that this feature helps them allocate IPs efficiently, avoid conflicts, and plan for future network expansion.

Slow, Clunky Web Interface: Many users have expressed frustration with the slow, clunky web interface of SolarWinds IP Address Manager. Users find it difficult to navigate and perform tasks efficiently, impacting their overall experience with the software.

Difficult Initial Setup: Several reviewers have reported that the initial setup of the software is not user-friendly and requires a learning curve. This can be challenging for new users who are unfamiliar with the Orion platform.

Limited Options for Organizing Devices: Users have complained about the limited options for organizing devices in SolarWinds IP Address Manager. They feel that there is a lack of flexibility in the licensing tiers and find it difficult to effectively organize their devices as per their requirements.

Users commonly recommend the following regarding the software for managing IP addresses:

  1. Trying the free option before purchasing: Many users suggest taking advantage of the free version of the software to get a feel for its functionality and suitability for their needs. This allows users to assess whether it meets their requirements before committing to a paid version.

  2. Considering other options like InfoBlox and Mice & Men: Some users suggest exploring alternative software options such as InfoBlox or Mice & Men. These alternatives may offer different features or better meet specific requirements, so users recommend comparing different solutions to find the best fit.

  3. Looking for bundle purchase with other products for a better deal: Reviewers mention that while the software itself can be pricey, they recommend exploring bundle purchases that include additional products or services. By bundling multiple products together, users may be able to secure a better deal or more cost-effective licensing options.

It is important to note that users also mention areas for improvement, such as inadequate support and resource-intensive nature of the software. However, these are not counted as among the three most common recommendations.

SolarWinds IP Address Manager Eliminates IP conflicts and saves time managing DHCP, DNS, and IP Addresses. It also scans subnets to show the open IP address, and adds and removes subnets. The disadvantage is the ability to select multiple IP addresses at one time and it some it overkills for smaller network and little high price.
  • Great tool for keeping track of IP addresses.
  • Dynamic IP lists and documentation.
  • Nice integration with other SolarWinds suite tool.
  • Try to integrate with service now
  • It showed the MAC addresses of the devices it finds on the scans.
  • Specific IP can be complicated
It is easy to use, and I recommend to try in any organization. It can manage so many groups of networks. One of the great features I like is it keeps a history of what it was used for x number of days, Gui based interface, and manage my DHCP and DNS from the same console.

We use SolarWinds IP Address Manager to manage our entire corporate network. It's incredibly useful in seeing what is on our network as well as identifying conflicts.
  • IP address conflicts--instantly identifies conflicts on the network
  • Managing our various scopes
  • Setting up reservations for various devices
  • One portal to view all the devices along with easy to read descriptions of what the devices are
  • I can't really complain about the current implementation. It just works brilliantly.
SolarWinds IP Address Manager provides a single portal to manage the entire network, whether that's DHCP scopes, reservations, or just having an overview of what's on our network.

I use SolarWinds IPAM to keep a watchful eye over my DHCP scopes and IP ranges. It helps me manage my IP address schemes so that I have the ability to focus on other areas. Without this tool, I would have to validate via manual methods.
  • Automates IP address tracking
  • IP address alerting, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • DHCP Management
  • IP address management
  • N/A
I can't live without SolarWinds IPAM. No matter your environment size, you can benefit from proper IP address management. SolarWinds makes it easy to manage with its intuitive interface and scheduled scans.

It does it's job well, it's easy to use it to see what IP's are available and can be assigned. The scans work as expected, subnets are easy to add and remove. It's not flashy but I find it does exactly what we want it to do.
  • Scan subnets to show open IP address
  • Add and remove subnets
  • Add/track DNS and DHCP servers
  • The ability to select multiple IP address at one time and clear their settings
We aren't using it to it's fully potential, but for what we use it for it works great. All subnets are scanned and updated; if you are reserving an IP, you have to make sure the scan doesn't wipe it out (easy to do, just need to remember it). It has been simple to use and has made my job easier. It would not work as well if you don't have access to scan those subnets.

The university I work at has at least 26 DHCP servers each managing multiple scopes, and it can get messy fast. SolarWinds IP Address Manager is an awesome tool to monitor the IP networks at a high level from one dashboard. I can easily determine DHCP utilization within each location and subnet with a glance at SolarWinds IP Address Manager.
  • IP address monitoring
  • IP address alerting for duplicates
  • DHCP Management lets me know when how scopes are being used
  • Sunbet Management lets me know when I need to look at increasing my subnet space
  • DHCP utilization sometimes has a delay before being in sync but is still accurate enough at all times for a broad understanding of the environment
SolarWinds IP Address Manager is very useful the bigger and more complex the environment. Smaller organizations will have to consider the cost as it provides little benefit over monitoring maybe 2-3 servers. But I have over 24 DHCP servers with on average 15 subnets each so tracking and monitoring all that was very time-consuming. As a result, it was generally ignored until there was an issue. With SolarWinds IP Address Manager, I was able to set alerts to monitor scope utilization and duplicate IP addresses.

We use IPAM to track subnet and host IP address assignments for our entire network. Primarily used for static IP assignments in our data centers and as a way to track dynamically assigned addresses from our DHCP infrastructure. This allows us to avoid assigning a duplicate IP addresses to static devices. The user interface is very intuitive and the color-coded icons allow us to quickly look down the list to see what addresses are being used and unused. Solarwinds also added a nice feature to test to see if the IP address is active elsewhere before reserving it. the search engine allows us to quickly focus on IP addresses at the subnet or host level.
  • Ease of use to assign/register IP addresses.
  • Easy search utility.
  • Intuitive.
  • Integration with Solarwinds Orion.
  • I do not see any holes in the product.
  • Ability to customize the user interface for management.
  • Ability to generate management graphical reports on IP status.
  • The ability to delegate user access to specific subnet or ranges.
An easy-to-use IP address manager that is integrated with Orion. This is a fully-featured application that is supported by the vendor's knowledgeable support staff. The graphical interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. We access the IPAM application throughout our network with a secure web connection and leverage the AD user account integration to lower our administrative overhead of the product.

We use SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) to manage IP addresses in the organization. IPAM allows us to quickly provide IP addresses to our various teams within the organization.
  • Manage IP addresses
  • Allocate free IP addresses
  • Update the IPAM records in a very orderly manner.
  • The process of teams assigning IP addresses themselves need to be more streamlined.
  • Ability to see used subnets needs to be further simplified in the dashboard section.
It is easy to use and quick to allocate/reserve IP addresses. Which provides for greater visibility in our network environment.

We use SolarWinds IPAM to manage the subnets at our many office locations across the world. It allows us to quickly see subnet status, IP availability, and update our DNS quickly. This prevents us from duplicating IP addresses and causing communication errors.
  • IP address availability
  • DNS updates
  • Capacity planning
  • Customizable dashboards
  • Resolution automation
  • Better scripting base
If you already have SolarWinds Products, there's no other product that I have seen on the market that incorporates all network management and IPAM tools so seamlessly. No longer having to have several consoles open to manage DHCP, DNS, and Subnets saves so much time and makes the whole process much more manageable.

Managing IP address allocation has previously been done in spreadsheets but due to growing size and complexity, a proper system was required to manage all our internal IP addressing. SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) has proved to be immensely useful in improving our systems and processes with regard to IP address and VLAN management across our hybrid environments.
  • Automated discovery and alerting
  • Request-based allocations possible
  • DNS and DHCP support
  • Great as a standalone but would be good if it was just included with other parts of Orion
Spreadsheets can only take you so far with IP address management, and SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) adds so much more once you have a considerable IP address space you are trying to manage and, as a bonus, you can manage a number of other resources in the product, too, such as VLANs.

This module has really helped us in tracking devices on our different subnets, especially the ones that have static IP addresses. The setup is simple and the discovery is rather quick. I would recommend this module to others who need to have more visibility in a centralized location to view devices that are on your network.
  • It integrates with DHCP to help identify end devices that have dynamically assigned IP addresses.
  • The subnet scans are quick and efficient.
  • It tracks statically assigned devices.
  • The summary page layout could be more efficient.
  • The network view does not display the correct number of available IP addresses for the subnet size.
  • The request IP address functionality is not needed in our environment and it would be nice to turn the link off on the dashboard.
In an environment where Network Engineers are separate from Server Administration, you may not be allowed to view/add/change any DHCP scopes or DNS records. With SolarWinds IPAM, you can integrate the DHCP and DNS servers into the SolarWinds environment to have the visibility to view these DHCP scopes or DNS records.

We use SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) to monitor the usage of our IP networks. We monitor, assign, and reserve IP addresses for the networks not using the DHCP server. For the networks that do use the DHPC server, we use SolarWinds IPAM for monitoring only. We also use SolarWinds IPAM to give an overview of our network's used IP address.
  • Overview of IP networks
  • Managing IP networks
  • Scanning of IP networks
  • We don't miss any functions.
SolarWinds is well suited in our environment while using IP networks without DHCP and when using static IP assignments. SolarWinds IPAM helps us to monitor, manage, assign, and overview the static IP address in our networks. With the network overview, we are able to directly see the usage percentage of each IP network.

We use SolarWinds IP Address Manager at the University to track IP addresses that are used. Before SolarWinds IP Address Manager we had to give various admins rights to various DHCP servers that they are responsible for managing and managing who had access to which severs was very difficult to track. With SolarWinds IP Address Manager I am able to assign rights to various DHCP scopes directly from SolarWinds making management far simpler.
  • IP address monitoring
  • IP address alerting for duplicates
  • Allow subnet management by user
  • SolarWinds IP Address Manager is a perfect product
We have 12 locations each with its own DHCP server as well as its own backup server, each with around 10-15 subnets. Tracking scope usage across 24 servers was very time-consuming and having SolarWinds IP Address Manager allows any admin to view all scopes from one management console. We were also able to set alerts to monitor when the scope was 90% filled and any duplicate IP addresses were detected. Previously when a scope was full, it would often go unnoticed until users complained they could not access resources and we had to assign a ticket and have a technician troubleshoot before the admin sees the job. Now with alerts on a scope's usage, that is a thing of the past.

We use IPAM to manage our entire IP infrastructure leveraging DNS and DHCP. IPAM is our main IP repository used to manage and monitor DNS, DHCP scopes, and reserve static IP addresses.
  • Monitor DHCP scopes.
  • Manage IP infrastructure.
  • Alert on any critical events.
  • Better integration with NPM - would be nice if clicking on an IP address opened the node information.
  • Shared custom properties between NPM and IPAM.
  • Ability to import/add multiple nodes.
SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) is well suited in managing the IP infrastructure - it brings together DHCP and DNS records, allows manual reservation and management of IP addresses, and is able to generate all kinds of alerts and reports. It's not intended to be used as an asset management tool, although it can be with help of Custom Properties that could be added and populated manually.

I have been using this tool for the last 5 years and this is a pretty decent tool to track the IPs that are reserved, assigned, and available. Easy to create the group and manage each IP subnets independently.
  • Can track all the IP address ( provisioned and available) automatically
  • Centralized managed solution
  • Can integrate with the DNS
  • Sometimes I have noticed the IP pool doesn't get refreshed and am not sure where the issue is. I had to cross verify the IP address before assigning it to male sure it doesn't conflict with already provisioned Servers
IPAM is easy to identify the IPs that are provisioned vs reserved vs available. In a situation where the DHCP scope or pool is not defined, the IPAM adds lots snd lots of advantages in tracking as I need not maintain an excel sheet for everything

We have been using Solarwinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) to manage our public and internal IP ranges for our data centers and branch offices, which are shared with several different teams. It works quite well to put everyone on the same page for the availability of so many different IP ranges of different locations.
  • Share IP availability of all IP ranges with different teams
  • Figure out location and purpose of each IP range
  • recycle IPs for decommissioned devices
  • It would be nice if the recycled/reused IPs will have the "history" records of their usage
It works very well if there are many IP ranges that need to be managed. For a very small network, it still works, however, the benefit may not be as much.

We are using it to manage our company's ips. It works well and also lets us know if the device is online or not. Makes it a lot easier than maintaining a spreadsheet.
  • Keeps tracks of all IP ranges you set up.
  • Lets you know when a device is online or not.
  • Ability to reserve IPs and label it so you know what it is for.
  • Security breach has us worried.
  • Faster interface would be nice.
  • Entire Orion platform has a lot of customizations and it can easily scare a person that is new to it.
IPAM will be well suited in an environment that has over 50 network devices in my opinion. More than that, it will be very difficult to keep track of all the IPs used in the environment. I came from spreadsheets and pinging devices to see if they are used and using IPAM takes that work out of it. Pretty happy with it.

We are using IPAM as part of our SolarWinds Orion deployment. The main purpose of it is to eliminate the need for spreadsheets. We are able to scan subnets to see what IPs are being used and what aren't. We also added DHCP and DNS servers. When we first started using SolarWinds IP Address Manager we had real small subnets so monitoring DHCP allowed us to set up alerts when there were less than 5 IPs available.
  • See the devices on DHCP you didn't know about
  • Monitor your DHCP scopes, available IPs
  • Monitor your subnets and available IPs
  • Remove the need for spreadsheets
  • The layout of information, DHCP, DNS, and IP are all separated
If you are using spreadsheets to manage your subnets you need SolarWinds IP Address Manager. If you have small scopes for DHCP or any DHCP scopes, IPAM is a great way to manage and monitor those scopes. IPAM can be set up to scan subnets so being able to see and get alerted on new devices is also a great security feature.

IPAM is a great tool to see how your IP networks are being used at a high level. You can check out what your DHCP utilizations are or how much of a specific subnet you are using. I put a huge emphasis on useability and organization, so it's great the way you can organize IPs in groups by the site to see the health of your specific locations at a glance.
  • Organization: Great seeing site IP utilization at a glance.
  • DHCP Management: If you pair this with the right alerting you will never run out of IPs at a site.
  • Subnet Management: Similar to DHCP, you can tell when you are going to need to expand your subnets.
  • Built in alerting would take a lot of the guess work out.
  • Sometimes the DHCP utilization doesn't appear to be 100% in sync.
  • As with all modules, theres a cost to use additional features.
I feel as though a program as lite as IPAM is useful no matter if you're big or small. Smaller companies will have to consider the overall cost of a Solarwinds suite that some cheaper programs may cover, but, if your company can support the cost, then typically the SolarWinds products are hard to beat.

SolarWinds IPAM is used by I.T. to monitor and maintain all of our IP subnets. This prevents overlapping IP addresses and prevents duplicate IP errors in our environment.
  • Keeps all IP addresses well organized
  • Prevents duplicate IP addressing
  • Scans all subnets to mark IP addresses that are in use
  • None
This is a great product and is well suited to any environment. It is licensed by number of IP addresses, so large environments can get a bit costly, but it's still a great value in its market space.

We use IPAM in IT to manage IP addressing across all our offices and job sites. We use it for alerting on DHCP scope and have it integrated with UDT. We had no way to track IP addresses for all the job sites and used to manage the office IP addresses on an Excel sheet.
  • Alerting on DHCP scope
  • UDT integration
  • Find out IPs in use and available
  • Easier overall view - for example: show me all subnets and their names instead of drop downs.
SolarWinds IP Address Manager is best for small- to mid-sized IP address usage. We have over 90 job sites across the country that we manage. To keep track of it all on an Excel was cumbersome. We also use it for devices that get added/removed constantly. It's easy to run a scan and see what IPs are available and what are not. Additionally, we use it to track IP addresses in our cloud environments--some don't have an offering that shows you available IPs.

SolarWinds IPAM is utilized to manage IP address space across our global data centers. Operations teams are able to have full realtime visibility into IP information without contacting the network team.
  • Minimal setup and configuration required
  • Integration into SolarWinds Orion portal
  • Ease of Use
  • Better ability to identify discovered IP addresses
If you're looking for a basic IPAM tool, SolarWinds IP Address Manager is good solution. If you're already a SolarWinds Orion customer; its integration into the rest of their offerings makes for a good value play. If you're looking for a standalone solution and are not interested in the larger SolarWinds ecosystem, you would probably be better off looking at other non-integrated competitors.

SolarWinds IP Address Manager helps me make sense of what is on my network at my locations and how many IPs are being taken up in my VLANs. Much easier to use than what is built into Windows. I can get alerted if I reach a threshold of IPs, which is important for our lab environment. I am never surprised by this tool on what's going on device-wise.
  • Lets me know how many IPs are being used in my network
  • Lets me know about any possible IP address conflicts
  • Gives me history of MAC addresses that have used this IP
  • Able to easily export my IP data
  • Would like to know what ports are open on the IPs
  • Would be useful if they helped you configure this with best practices when you get it
SolarWinds IP Address Manager is well suited for a medium- to large-sized business with lots of VLANs, so you can keep an eye on what's going on. For a small office, I think this would be overkill. Especially useful with lab environments and dev environments with lots of change, so you can keep a handle on it.

Prior to purchasing SolarWinds IP Address Manager, my team primarily relied on manually updated Excel spreadsheets for IP management. Initially, this approach was manageable, but it very quickly become too difficult to maintain. Because of the manual approach, the spreadsheet would become outdated very quickly. With SolarWinds IPAM, the dynamic updates take away the overhead associated with the spreadsheets and allowed us to not worry as much about whether or not the information we're looking at is up to date. Also because the interface is web-based, my team had a much easier time collaborating and access the necessary information.
  • Host discovery
  • Easy setup
  • Dynamic IP updates
  • Web interface can be slow and clunky
  • Initially is not user friendly
  • Allow more options for organization of devices
SolarWinds IP Address Manager is useful to organizations ranging from small to large, but particularly small. The reason for this is due to the fact that a smaller organization will have less manpower to manage a manually updated spreadsheet. SolarWinds IPAM's ability to dynamically discover and update its database removes the overhead typically associated with spreadsheets.
