  • Over the years, I believe having SAM and NPM have saved countless hours of troubleshooting, both by being a tool for preventing outages, and a tool for troubleshooting them when they happen.
  • SAM reduces outages by notifying us when they occur. Downtime = lost productivity, lost revenue, and loss of confidence in IT.

  • SolarWinds Server & Application monitor has definitely paid for itself. The renewals for maintenance are no longer a conversation, as management obviously understands the value of the relationship to their success!
  • SolarWinds Server & Application monitor has allowed my team to deep dive into issues. We have made a tremendous jump in up time and overall performance.

SAM along with SolarWinds Database Performance Monitor gave us the insight to fix a critical issue happening in our environment every morning at 4:30 AM. Every morning, the primary application for my organization would freeze for about 1 minute. After much finger pointing we found the culprit to be the purge of the database locking files. We were able to fine tune the environment with the use of the great tool: Server & Application Monitor! My job has become much easier to accomplish. The reporting helps keep my big mouth shut!

  • The monitoring tools have grown by 50% in the last 3 years. We have increased our original network monitoring to include virtual servers, Cisco voice network quality manager, and server application management to name a few.
  • We have been able to alert our network carriers before they can see the problem. This has helped our uptime connectivity by being proactive and not waiting for an outage to occur.
  • One of the unexpected benefits is UPS monitoring at every location. We have set up alerts to notify us of aging UPS devices so we can swap them out before a power outage occurs and we find out too late and cannot handle the loads.

  • The biggest impact we have gotten from the application is the quick identification of an environment issue be it network, application, or server. This has allowed a quick response to these issue before they become an issue for our customers. Failures of a large enough nature could result in service becoming unavailable for a large enough period of time that the organization could end up in the news which brings with it a negative view from our customers which affects funding.
