Sprout Social is Feature-Heavy but Complicated

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Sprout Social for monitoring social media specifically when doing very large events of several hundred people. We want to make sure we're engaged with attendees, speakers, etc. during these events and it's hard to manage everything on multiple platforms if we aren't following every single individual. Sprout Social allows us to monitor what's being said, stay engaged with people, communicate important info during the event, and do it on multiple platforms all at once.

Pros

  • Direct integration with ChatGPT is incredibly convenient
  • Direct integration with Salesforce is great for our team because that's our main CRM. We can collect engagement information and store it for retargeting after the event.
  • Sprout Social has so many features. It's possible to get pretty much anything you need. If you can dream it, Sprout Social probably offers it in their platform.

Cons

  • Sprout Social can get expensive, quickly. Most of their best features are behind paywalls and you can get locked into multi-year contracts that won't let you shift for your needs.
  • The mobile app is pretty awful. You have to use the desktop version in order for everything to work reliably.
  • Sometimes data reporting can get too complicated for the system so it just won't include some data in reports. Most issues can be solved, but if you're really relying on Sprout Social for complicated data analytics, it's probably a huge downside.

Likelihood to Recommend

I love Sprout Social specifically for our large events. They're limited-time events, they allow us to do a lot at once and pull in the data we learn to our regular systems, and the ChatGPT integration lets us create content quickly and easily on the fly. However, I would not use this for your everyday social platform. There are simpler platforms. In my experience, Sprout Social seems needlessly complicated for most businesses and is certainly not cost-effective for most businesses. Unless you have a huge budget for social and/or it's truly your bread and butter for marketing strategy, I think Sprout Social is best suited for special events.

Sprout Social - My Top Social Media Management Tool

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sprout Social is more than a scheduling tool for us. We build out campaign calendars, tag posts, and coordinate content across multiple platforms. We review engagement from multiple audiences that helps us plan for and adjust our messaging. We are able to monitor our mentions and quickly engage with our partners. This strengthens our partnerships overall.

Pros

  • Measures impact which is great for reporting
  • Keeping an eye on mentions and being able to respond quickly
  • Social listening is huge - it helps us understand what is happening in our field

Cons

  • Sprout Social has room for improvement with its pricing - unfortunately it's very expensive

Likelihood to Recommend

Sprout Social is well suited for social media teams of any size (if they can afford it). They offer so many different ways to learn the software and their support is amazing. It's less appropriate for small nonprofit teams because there are other tools out there that can get the job done for much less money.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Sprout Social for social media scheduling for our clients a lot and also we use its most powerful feature that is social media listening as that’s the major chunk of the feature which makes a business make or break in my opinion. Sprout Social is also used a lot for other smaller features

Pros

  • Social media scheduling
  • Social media listening
  • Social media insights

Cons

  • User interface
  • Pricing

Likelihood to Recommend

Sprout Social is best suited for scenarios where you are an agency or are planning to start an agency and have a lot of clients. If you are an individual then the use case is there but it’s best suited for large agencies a lot. Pricing is also as per agencies I feel

Sprout is worth the money

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Sprout Social to manage client and my company's social media accounts. It helps with time efficiencies with their easy scheduling system, gives robust analytics for better strategic growth and has an organized interactions management system for cross-team timely responses for our audiences (and our client's audiences).

Pros

  • Robust reporting
  • Easy scheduling
  • Organized interactions management

Cons

  • There are some features that don't align with what you can do natively on social media platforms, like being able to post more than 10 carousel slides on Instagram, but not on Sprout.
  • The data isn't always immediately accurate, it takes time for Sprout to load the accurate data, which can cause reporting discrepancies
  • It is on the more expensive side of social media management platforms

Likelihood to Recommend

I'm quick to recommend Sprout, because I've worked in social media management for over a decade and used other platforms, and it's still the best one. The cheaper platforms cause more wasted time and inaccurate data, and don't have the same kind of customer support and tech updates that Sprout has. You pay for what you get!

Love Sprout but it Could be Better

Rating: 5 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Scheduling posts, responding to fans, collecting data and giving reports to clients.

Pros

  • Reports and data gathering (given api limitations)
  • Scheduling

Cons

  • Getting more data collection apis from Tiktok/Instagram
  • More streamline approval process for non-Sprout users

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for scheduling and tagging and creating reports for clients. could use some more permissions to gather data from apps and better approval workflows

Enhances productivity but at a cost

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sprout Social primary helps us manage messages across all our platforms and schedule and post content. We also use it for organization and data purposes through tagging, and their general data information allows us the associate all platforms without having to pull them individually through each.

Overall, it helps us simplify our processes by having everything all in one place.

Pros

  • Cross-post for each platform
  • Organize social messages and notifications
  • Provide accurate, organized data

Cons

  • Data customization when pulling reports
  • Tag report customization
  • Brand guide additions

Likelihood to Recommend

Sprout Social meets the mark in terms of social planning, data pulling, and customer service management. However, it comes at a high price point, and many of their other features are only offered with additional plan upgrades. They've also often raised their prices without offering any additional benefits to the product, which has made us consider other options.

Overall friendly UX and easy use

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For us, Sprout Social facilitates fairly easy coordination across a large team, collaboration on scheduling various strategic digital content pieces and monitoring the social media activity of our organization's members, as well as compiling performance analytics and reporting for review by external departments and partners. I and my colleagues use the tools on a daily basis.

Pros

  • Short approvals processes of social media content
  • Visualization of content scheduling in the calendar feature
  • Easy quick reporting of simple analytics
  • Tagging content and campaigns quickly

Cons

  • Adding new and emerging social media platforms
  • More intuitive and easy-to-use reporting

Likelihood to Recommend

For organizations that are managing multiple accounts across several social media properties and have a need to schedule and tag content, Sprout Social makes sense. This is especially true for larger digital teams or ones with seasonal turnover (e.g. campaign firms) where multiple users need to submit content but shouldn't have the account credentials revealed to them.

Easy to use wish analytics were quicker to refresh

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Content scheduling and engagement analytics are the main things that we use Sprout Social for. Additionally, it's helpful to have all of our incoming messages put into one space so that they all are seen and responded to! It's easier than struggling to keep up with DMs and comments on multiple platforms at once.

Pros

  • Easy to schedule at peak engagement times
  • posting/scheduling on multiple platforms at once
  • sending emails about weekly engagement

Cons

  • Engagement rates are sometimes slow/behind the actual social platform (need to refresh a lot)
  • Would love to be able to add unlimited or more users to the account

Likelihood to Recommend

It's well suited to post on multiple platforms at once with the same content/caption, as well as seeing engagement or which posts are already performing better compared to others. It's also pretty user friendly and easy to figure out, which was great when I first began using it. It's pretty convenient for replying to messages on all platforms. I wish I could post on Facebook stories from Sprout Social though!
