Squarespace is used by VGSG Music to create and host our website VGSG Music.com Squarespace's templates are sleek, modern and FAST! We absolutely LOVE Squarespace as our site has never looked more professional and it has never been so responsive! Our old website was slow with very long load times and very poor mobile optimization. Squarespace on the other hand has great load times and incredible mobile (Phone and Tablet) optimization!
  • G Suite Services Included - Get custom Gmail emails e.g. "support@mysite.com."
  • Site Security - SSL certificates for encryption plus HSTS
  • Advanced Analytics - Monitor your site traffic, traffic sources and search engine keywords to discover what draws your audience to your site.
  • e-Commerce
Cons
  • More Templates - We really didn't feel 100% that the templates "spoke" to us, so we settled for the one with the most simplistic design and we edited from there.
Squarespace is serious about making your website professional and secure! They offer SSL certificates for encryption, HSTS, and built-in G-Suite (Gmail emails) for our site so that we can have, say, "support@mysite.com." That is essential for any website and it solidifies your professional look. We love their integration with MailChimp and their built in Analytics to see how our customers are finding us and where our customers are from. They also provide built in social media integration, a full e-Commerce platform and SEO optimization! Their prices are also very reasonable for the services they provide!

Squarespace is the only platform we use for all of our clients!

I own a Custom Squarespace Web Design and Graphic Design company. We exclusively design and build websites on the Squarespace platform. We serve small to medium size businesses with their design needs online. Our websites, when complete, are passed onto the owner. We do not provide ongoing maintenance on their websites. After a project is finished we provide full training on their site so that they can confidently update and maintain their own website. We find that Squarespace makes it easy for companies to do this. With security updates, software upgrades, and almost zero downtime, Squarespace makes it easy for our client, and us, to depend on them as a solid hosting service for their sites.
Squarespace provides solutions for our clients in the areas of blogging, eCommerce, gorgeous user experience, modern look, third party integrations, appointment booking and many other features. We personally use it for several of those benefits.
  • eCommerce: Squarespace provides a thorough and comprehensive solution for eCommerce. There are analytics, inventory tracking, variants, shipping, third party integration, easy to build and use options for users to build a secure store.
  • Blogging: Squarespace provides all types of options for blogging that people can use to design a gorgeous but functional blogging platform.
  • Style Editor: Their style editor has so many options it is one of the most flexible and customizable options out there. Anywhere from changing the fonts, colors, and layout to custom designing with CSS code injection.
Cons
  • No Affiliate program: I think with all the designers out there that use and promote Squarespace as one of the best options, having an affiliate or reseller program would be nice.
  • I think there is room for improvement on the responsive design end. There is some disconnect sometimes with the way the layouts adjust depending on the screen size. For the most part it works great but I think it could be better.
Squarespace is most appropriate for service and eCommerce small to medium size businesses that need to be able to maintain their own website and do NOT need a database or client login scenario.

Squarespace is not appropriate for large size companies that need the most flexible open source options through something like Wordpress and need a developer to maintain their site. Sometimes companies need more options than a platform like Squarespace can provide.

Squarespace is the right place!

[Squarespace is] Used for website building within an advertising agency for multiple clients. It’s a good website option for designers who aren’t extremely skilled or are new to the web, it provides customization but the ease of templates!
  • Templates that are easy to use
  • Tutorials on how to use the program
  • Clean and sleek design options
Cons
  • Hard to understand without watching tutorials
  • Not always user-friendly
  • Pricy
I used it for multiple clients for quick clean websites. Any site that is extremely complicated wouldn’t be a candidate for Squarespace.

Only our specific department is currently using it under my direct management (other departments also use it on their own), but the entire organization's website is not hosted on Squarespace. As the entire organization's website is proprietary and designed/developed for a Korean-speaking audience, Squarespace was our solution in allowing us to communicate with our English-speaking audience without having to go through the arduous process/task of re-coding the existing website.
  • Well-designed starting templates.
  • Flexibility for more advanced users who know how to customize through additional code.
  • Ease of use.
Cons
  • We would love to be able to add pop-up modules as a default option, without having to add additional code.
  • The site sometimes gets very laggy and working on the site gets slow/frustrating. We would like the option to perhaps work offline and push all edits live at once.
I would recommend it for the average user (and have already), especially for those looking for a solution that balances price and quality. Squarespace is certainly not the cheapest option, but I personally believe it is one more user-friendly options that allow people to create better-looking sites without any design/programming knowledge. Other alternatives, I have found, aren't as intuitive, or are just more clunky in the way they operate. However, I would probably still not recommend Squarespace for blogging, as post formatting can still get tricky when it comes to blog posts on Squarespace. I do not have personal experience with the e-commerce side of Squarespace, so I can't speak much into that side of Squarespace however.

Our organization uses Squarespace to run our company website. We use it as a web presence to inform people about our products, to direct them to stores that carry our products near them across the United States, and as a resource for recipes. We also use it for eCommerce as a retail store which is a very small part of our business but important nonetheless to allow people to purchase our products if they can't find them at a store near them. Our squarespace site addressed our need for an easy to maintain site, that still looks professional, to host all of these previously mentioned applications.
  • Squarespace has professional, appealing templates. It also allows you to change templates as well without affecting your live website while working on an update, which we are currently doing.
  • The eCommerce setup is very easy and user-friendly. Several options for customizing items, such as choosing 4 flavors to go into a 4 pack. The payment through Stripe is very secure as well.
  • There are many options for customizing your pages. There are various slideshow options, different ways to display pictures, products, and text. Each option comes in its own content block which you can't freely move but that helps keep everything aligned on the pages.
  • The pages adapt very well for mobile. There are mobile specific options you can change too.
Cons
  • Discounts don't have use limits. We have wanted to give a discount for a customer for a one time use but the only option currently is to give a code and then keep an eye on when the code is used and then end change the expiration code once it has otherwise they could use it more than once.
  • Shipping options are limited. You can choose to ship everywhere or add which countries you want to allow but you can't exclude more specific than countries. For example, we can include United States but can't exclude specific places such as the Virgin Islands which are included in the United States.
  • It's more expensive than other website options. The ease of use might make up for the cost, but if you have someone who can do coding and/or dedicate more time to maintenance of the site, there are likely cheaper options.
Squarespace has great templates for displaying a portfolio or pictures. I imagine it would suit photographers and I think restaurants would benefit from Squarespace's features as well to display bold food pictures and capture attention with full screen images. For a site more focused on eCommerce another site might do better with payment, shipping, and coupon options. I do think it would be well suited for smaller businesses with interactive scrolling pages and good mobile adaptability which an individual or a small team could easily maintain.
