Squarespace has become a go-to platform for small businesses, creative professionals, and marketers looking to build and manage visually appealing websites. With its well-designed templates and extensive availability of designer fonts, Squarespace allows users to create a professional-looking website with ease. Users appreciate the platform's intuitive interface and drag-and-drop functionality, making it accessible for both beginners and design professionals. Squarespace also offers useful tools like Analytics to track website traffic and sales data, as well as an Abandoned Cart feature to follow up with potential customers. Furthermore, Squarespace's integration with payment systems like Stripe and PayPal simplifies the process of setting up e-commerce capabilities on a website. Whether it's showcasing products, maintaining portfolios, or running corporate websites, Squarespace provides a time-saving and cost-effective solution for individuals and businesses alike.

Intuitive Interface: Users have consistently praised Squarespace's intuitive interface, with many stating that it has made website creation and management effortless. Numerous reviewers have mentioned that they can easily navigate through different sections of their websites and perform tasks such as managing portfolios, blog posts, and responding to comments seamlessly. This user-friendly interface has greatly enhanced users' efficiency in managing their websites and engaging with their audience.

Wide Selection of Templates: The extensive collection of beautifully designed templates in Squarespace has received high praise from users. Many reviewers appreciate the wide variety of options available, as well as the frequent addition of new templates. These templates are seen as time-saving features for users with limited design background and coding knowledge. Thanks to the intuitive nature of these templates, users find them extremely easy to work with and customize according to their preferences.

Great Customer Support: Squarespace's customer support has been highly regarded by users for its helpfulness and responsiveness. Reviewers mention that the support team is not only friendly but also goes above and beyond to assist them whenever issues arise. Users appreciate having responsive email replies and live chat options available for support. The excellent customer service provided by Squarespace ensures that users feel supported throughout their website building journey

Cons:

  1. Limited customization options: Users have expressed frustration with the limited customization options in Squarespace, particularly in terms of design and layout. Several users have mentioned that the templates provided by Squarespace can look somewhat generic and lack flexibility for creating more complex websites.
  2. Difficulties in navigation and finding features: Some users find it difficult to navigate Squarespace's user interface and locate certain features. There is a learning curve associated with the software, making it challenging for users to find their way around and access specific functionalities.
  3. Lack of customer support options: Customer service being available only through email has been seen as a drawback by some users. They feel that having additional support channels, such as live chat or phone support, would be beneficial for resolving issues or seeking assistance more efficiently.

Overall, users highly recommend using Squarespace for creating professional-looking websites with minimal effort.

  • Templates are sleek, modern, and beautiful.
  • Customer support is U.S. based and super friendly.
  • There are multiple plans so your site can grow with your business.
  • An even more basic plan would be welcomed for people looking for just a simple gallery to host w/o the bells and whistles.
  • I'd like to see Squarespace suggest the optimal layout/design based on my content.

  • Easy to use
  • The artistic and modern design’s or a great alternative for a btob company
  • Sometimes the design options are scarce when we are looking to re-designed the website
  • While building the website, the platform can run slower than usual
  • There can be improvement on the frequently asked questions/help section. Some of the resolutions are generic and sometimes we need to look elsewhere for a workaround

  • The website was easy to create, using Squarespace's user-friendly tools.
  • Making edits and updates are also very easy, and requires very little training to teach someone new to do so.
  • We were able to password protect our site, so the resources contained within are only available to those in the company.
  • We are using a search tool to make it easier to find what you are looking for.
  • The search tool is helpful, but lacks an ability to sort your results. Maybe it's just the tool we're using, but it's a feature I would like to have.
  • When adding custom images to your site, the image size requirements could be easier to understand.
  • The mobile app to help write blog posts on the site lacks some of the functionality of the desktop version.

  • Aesthetically pleasing templates that have a modern feel and clean feel.
  • Organizing the templates to be able to find what you are looking for that would work for your project.
  • I had to call customer service a few times and it was positive.
  • I think it would be nice if they had a recommended amount of words for each box in the template. When I imported some of text it did not have the same look as the template because I had too little or too much. I had to gauge by making changes and keep going back to review.

  • It was so easy to get set up. In one place, I was able to reserve my domain, choose a template, and get to work on a webpage. All on my own.
  • Squarespace partners with Unsplash, a free photography website, that allows me to use professional-level photography with no royalties.
  • Using the customization tools to build my webpage was hard. There were some areas that made total sense and others that made no sense at all. My husband has some experience with this stuff, so I brought him in to have him look over the UI with me. Together, we figured it out, but I felt like some features were unnecessarily hard to use.

  • Blogs - it provides an easy way to create the blogs, as well as a nice way to organize and sort blogs so that our customers can identify what they want to read before having to slog through everything on the site.
  • User Interface - we have a saying: "what if you get hit by a bus?" If the entire operation shuts down because one person is gone, then the program is not worth it. Squarespace's interface is something anyone can learn in the span of 10 minutes, and with a little bit of guidance, you will never be left alone in case your web master is away.
  • Pricing and Domain - this was not only easy to set up, but painless and straightforward. No hidden costs, and no sudden expenses that we didn't expect.
  • I am not a fan of the embedded code. For third party programs, I have to search them for a direct HTML code in order to put it on the site, as their embedded link only creates a hyperlink. Something you can do easier in the text blocks.
  • More reliable integration with social media. I have to resync the school's Instagram account weekly. We manage multiple, so I can't just leave it logged in. One time it displayed my own personal account without confirming.
  • I would also like a more expansive CMS on par with WordPress, but that is a preference, not a negative.

  • G Suite Services Included - Get custom Gmail emails e.g. "support@mysite.com."
  • Site Security - SSL certificates for encryption plus HSTS
  • Advanced Analytics - Monitor your site traffic, traffic sources and search engine keywords to discover what draws your audience to your site.
  • e-Commerce
  • More Templates - We really didn't feel 100% that the templates "spoke" to us, so we settled for the one with the most simplistic design and we edited from there.

  • The themes they provide are clean, fun and easy to setup.
  • The setup prompts and questions are easy to follow to link to your own domain if you own it outside of Squarespace.
  • Making edits weekly were very easy and only took a few minutes.
  • It would be nice to have more themes.
  • A direct email login from the sites somehow.

  • Easy to create visually appealing designs using the gridded drag and drop and preset formatting options/ themes
  • Maintains consistent design elements across your whole site - which you can change at a high level with one click and automatically updates globally
  • Instantly updates content to your live site
  • Great photo slideshow options and quotation box features
  • The grid system can be limiting - even using the spacers, there are limited options when you lay out your website. Great for beginners, but not great if you want more complex designs
  • Really hard to add site-wide custom code, including analytics tracking for advertising campaigns (Linkedin, Facebook etc)
  • Design limitations on banners, blog posts, and other standardized functions

  • Squarespace has professional, appealing templates. It also allows you to change templates as well without affecting your live website while working on an update, which we are currently doing.
  • The eCommerce setup is very easy and user-friendly. Several options for customizing items, such as choosing 4 flavors to go into a 4 pack. The payment through Stripe is very secure as well.
  • There are many options for customizing your pages. There are various slideshow options, different ways to display pictures, products, and text. Each option comes in its own content block which you can't freely move but that helps keep everything aligned on the pages.
  • The pages adapt very well for mobile. There are mobile specific options you can change too.
  • Discounts don't have use limits. We have wanted to give a discount for a customer for a one time use but the only option currently is to give a code and then keep an eye on when the code is used and then end change the expiration code once it has otherwise they could use it more than once.
  • Shipping options are limited. You can choose to ship everywhere or add which countries you want to allow but you can't exclude more specific than countries. For example, we can include United States but can't exclude specific places such as the Virgin Islands which are included in the United States.
  • It's more expensive than other website options. The ease of use might make up for the cost, but if you have someone who can do coding and/or dedicate more time to maintenance of the site, there are likely cheaper options.

  • Simple to use.
  • Terrific templates what can be customized with enough options to make a site look unique.
  • Simple instructions to set up your site with connections to third parties like Google Analytics and GoDaddy.
  • There are graphics options and organization elements of the website that could be improved.
  • Making it easier to link to other sites and services such as Medium and Twitter.

  • A wide variety of templates are available, which can help save a lot of time on the front end of a project.
  • I do not need to know how to code in order to build a beautiful website.
  • I can make edits at any time very easily, without involving a developer.
  • Drag and drop features don't always work like they should.
  • Many templates require or restrict to column layout.
  • I am not confident on the level of safety, especially when collecting information via forms and processing e-commerce payments.

  • Squarespace, in general, is very, very intuitive. If you're fairly comfortable using techy things and computers, you'll learn fairly quickly. If you spend just a solid whole day playing around with Squarespace and watching their helpful videos, you'll get it down just fine.
  • They have a fantastic index of help videos and documents for new users like us. If I ever got stuck (and, well, I did), a quick Google search had me land on the right Squarespace help web page or video!
  • THEIR TEMPLATES ARE BEEEAAAUUTTIIIIFFFUUUULL. I love so many of them, it was difficult to choose just one for the website. I've explored WordPress and Wix's templates and, in my opinion, Squarespace has the best ones.
  • The way you place images on your web pages is wonky. It doesn't work like a rich text box, and it's not as simple as just drag and drop. You have to add spacers here and there. But the annoying thing with spacers is that you're limited to certain sizes. On a couple occasions, I tried to center an image on a page and I just COULDN'T, because their spacers didn't space the way I wanted them to.
  • Is there any way that users can adjust the spacer sizes by pixel size?

  • Squarespace offers a true editor that allows you to see what you are going to get. There's no need to preview or to visit the website. You have a perfect sense of what you are putting together as you edit your pages.
  • Squarespace is turnkey. It has all the security and updating in their hands. It's behind the scenes and Squarespace doesn't need to communicate to us at all about security or updates that we need to apply.
  • Squarespace allows us to design very well laid out content with amazing base templates without being too rigid.
  • Squarespace has had fantastic customer support when we've needed it but we don't often need their support.
  • I'd like to see a few more business-centric templates. They have some good ones but the majority are for consumer websites or design type of businesses.
  • Although we have decent access to the code and can inject our own code, we'd like an easier way to setup events such as tracking buttons being pushed for Analytic goals.

  • Integrated blog with website.
  • No need for additional hosting.
  • Simple to use layouts and customizing without having to deal with any jquery or java, etc.
  • Easy to control and even edit on the go via their app.
  • Sometimes it can be a little difficult to shift things around.
  • There are limits on how many pages you can have depending on the payment tier you have.
  • I'd love to be able to adjust the size of items more easily without it affecting the way other images or items appear on the page.

  • Simple, fast startup. Easy to design a new site.
  • Intuitive user interface.
  • Excellent support in the event that you need it.
  • Great selection of templates. If you can find a template that is close to what you want your site to look like, you're golden.
  • If you want to customize a site a lot - that is, go beyond what a template looks like - it's quite difficult. It's really not designed for building out a custom site, as you can do with WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal.
  • We have had some outages. I monitor the site with an online tool and the site does go down, but only briefly and only about once a month. Outages are usually less than 15 minutes long.
  • Take a little getting used to if you're familiar with WordPress. It's a completely different paradigm.

  • Ease of use- this is a strength because you can quickly design a client site and teach them how to use it.
  • Modern design and templates- this is a strength because it makes your company look good and thus you, as a web designer, look good.
  • Customer service- one of the best teams out there. You talk to a real human with a personality. One woman stayed on chat with me for an hour helping me fix something on my site. I was freaking out and she helped calm me down and wouldn't stop until it was done.
  • They could add "extras" meaning things like special hover effects, ways to add 'movement' to the sites, ability to use more than 4 fonts. HOWEVER I understand Squarespace is modern and minimal and it helps keep things looking consistent and professional. SOMETIMES it would be helpful though.
  • They could think about adding an advanced team to help customers with custom code changes, maybe for an additional fee or something. It would be good to have that resource all in one place.

  • Simplicity. Very user friendly, fast to set up something basic.
  • Templates are very nice looking & they add new ones frequently.
  • Easy to upload or embed content in just about any major format.
  • Templates look very...template-y.
  • Gallery functionality is a little difficult to use for something like a portfolio. It's easy to add the content, but not as easy to sort by topic/tag - you have to toggle between the gallery page and the page where the gallery is being displayed.
  • In some cases hard to control exact display requirements (this is good and bad, as its a side effect of their responsive designs).

  • Squarespace helped me create and publish an online portfolio that looks professional, well-designed, and easy-to-use within a day.
  • I switched from Squarespace, to WordPress, and finally back to Squarespace because it's well-organized and I don't have to spend hours setting up a simple domain, or customizing my theme.
  • Organizing navigation, portfolio pieces, blog posts, and responding to comments are all really easy. I love how fast and intuitive everything is within Squarespace.
  • Deleting blog posts in bulk is hard, you have to delete them one-by-one which can be time-consuming.
  • Deleting articles or portfolio pieces is also time consuming because you can only manage them one at a time.
