What is StackAdapt?

StackAdapt offers their native advertising specialized DSP, supporting programmatic advertising with audience discovery, B2B targeting, and engagement analytics. The platform supports advertising campaign planning, execution, and analysis. Its contextual targeting enables the user to place ads next to content relevant to a reader of a website, to drive user engagement. Its Page Context AI and Keyword Rule Targeting in StackAdapt, helps users to identify where ads should appear across the web. The user builds a contextual strategy, input phrases and keywords, and StackAdapt will place ads on webpages with content that's relevant to the campaign.

Available channels include native, display, video, audio, connected TV, video game, and digital out-of-home (DOOH). DOOH offers marketers a unique opportunity to get their message out in an interactive and eye-catching way on digital screens.

We use StackAdapt for our programmatic media buys for our clients and our own agency. It is used by our PPC team specifically. The level of audience targeting and Account Based Marketing allow us to target a highly specific audience group across many different ad inventory vendors.
  • Audience definition.
  • Audience size estimation.
  • Programmatic media buys.
  • Charges HST.
  • Missing LinkedIn inventory.
  • Responsive ads.
StackAdapt is well-suited in situations where you need to drive awareness to a niche audience that cannot be easily targeted on the GDN. For our agency it is useful for our Canadian clients only, as HST is added to the advertising costs. We cannot pass this on to our international clients and therefore do not use the platform for any clients outside of Canada.

We utilize StackAdapt to target users for a health & beauty franchisee in order to drive local-level reservations at our clients' centers. We use it primarily for one client, thought we have tested a few others, and sent out RFPs for a few others. We chose StackAdapt as another DSP we used was not driving efficient results, and we knew there was a better "solution" out there.
  • Outstanding customer service: quick to respond, great (proactive) recommendations and reporting.
  • Fair pricing.
  • Great response time to RFPs with great insights and opportunities.
  • Some of the audience targets are a bit small, even for less than niche audiences/targets.
StackAdapt is great for agencies/clients that don't have the time or resources to be in a UI managing campaigns daily.

We deployed StackAdapt as a test of native advertising in a B2B agency environment. Would native advertising drive more, less, or the same traffic as other paid advertising. We used it for our agency but have not deployed it for our clients.
  • Their ad development tool is outstanding.
  • They offer to help you create a super-detailed profile of your specific audience but their online tools for ratcheting down your audience are strong.
  • Their customer support works hard for you.
  • There is no way to QA your own ads. They QA for you and based on the level of their customer support, you can trust their QA, but the lack of self-assessment can cause problems for your company/agency.
  • To know where your ads were actually deployed, when, and for how long would be amazing. They certainly know because they can track all sorts of analytics.
  • Budgeting.
For B2C applications, if you have a product that dovetails with someone's lifestyle, using StackAdapt will put you in your prospective client's lap. For B2B applications, you will need intimate knowledge of what your prospects do when they are reading or searching for pleasure in order to hit them at the right time. Your ad and content will need to address their pain points so well that they mentally shift gears from escape from work back to work to click and follow your breadcrumbs.

We use StackAdapt for running native ads. The customizable nature & in-platform photo resizing make it so the Digital Marketing team can handle everything without needing help from our Creative team.
  • Easy to use.
  • New services & capabilities offered regularly.
  • Great customer service!
  • More in-depth audience targeting.
  • Ability to switch between image sizes when creating an ad.
  • Users being able to remove topics in the custom audience segments without having to contact support.
If you have limited budgets, StackAdapt is not one I’d recommend. They have minimum spends for campaigns set to maximize conversions. Make sure you keep an eye on the custom audience segments to have topics removed that are not relevant to your campaign.

StackAdapt is used in our Digital Media department. We deploy it to traffic video and display assets to relevant audiences for our clients. It is a very accessible platform that makes scaling your media easy and efficient. We're very happy with the self-service nature of the platform and the full visibility we have into results.
  • Scale. StackAdapt has access to many premium publishers and reaches a vast majority of our audiences.
  • Efficiency. CPMs are great, affordable, and allow us the flexibility we need.
  • Customer Service. The StackAdapt account management team is one of the best we've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They are always eager to help.
  • The interface can be a bit confusing.
StackAdapt is great for reaching large audiences with video or display creatives. They offer a wide variety of pre-built user segments, as well as the ability to request custom segments when needed. Placement targeting is also strong on StackAdapt, with robust whitelist/blacklist capabilities. Results have always been right where we want them to be.

We use StackAdapt in both our paid media and earned media departments for native and display ads.
  • They have really great customer service. Everyone is assigned a person on their account that can help them with pretty much anything.
  • The platform is really easy to use. I have no experience doing paid media and I am able to set up campaigns successfully.
  • The results for our clients have been really impressive and we can continue to ramp up native ad budgets for clients because the results speak for themselves.
  • I wish you had the ability to resize images to the recommended sizes straight from the campaign management page, but you have to upload images that are the correct size already.
StackAdapt is great for content promotion, display ads, and native ads of any sorts. I have only used it in this capacity so I'm not sure of other situations where it might not work as well.

StackAdapt is used by our entire organization. We use it for retargeting advertising for ourselves and for clients.
  • Outstanding customer service - highly responsive.
  • Open to customer innovation - we have submitted multiple feature suggestions and seen them implemented - even new lines of business.
  • Simple to use interface - anyone comfortable with modern SaaS apps will have no problem using it.
  • Lack of highly refined targeting for job titles and geographies
  • No list-based retargeting
  • No option to hit specific domains individually without jerryrigging it
StackAdapt is best suited for companies which currently do native, display, and video advertising, and those companies doing retargeting. It is best for companies who have tight integration with their martech/adtech agencies.
