What is Symantec Edge Secure Gateway?

Symantec Secure Gateway (formerly Advanced Secure Gateway or "ASG", including ProxySG) sits between users and their interactions with the Internet to identify malicious payloads and to control sensitive content. Secure Web Gateway consolidates a broad feature-set to authenticate users, filter web traffic, identify cloud application usage, provide data loss prevention, deliver threat prevention, and ensure visibility into encrypted traffic. It also provides coaching and feedback to the user to ensure a strong and secure user experience when interacting with the Internet. Further it can provide consolidated policy management and reporting when deployed in-concert with Cloud-Delivered Secure Web Gateway as a hybrid delivery model.

It is primarily used as the central gateway for filtering inbound and outbound traffic to the internet. It allows us to control internet access by associating levels of access from minimal to privilege access depending on business roles. It allows us to strictly deny or allow access to services and applications offered from the web. It will enable us to inspect all traffic, documents, and downloads for malicious content or activities., and much more.
  • In essence, it is inconceivable not to have Symantec ProxySG and Advanced Secure Gateway (ASG) in our organization.
