Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Again, training is the key and the company provides a lot of example videos that will help users discover use cases that will greatly assist their creation of original visualizations. As with any new software tool, productivity will decline for a period. In the case of Tableau, the decline period is short and the later gains are well worth it.

Install very easy and works every time; don't have to worry about conflicts or setting PC variables. Also nice that it is independent of previous versions so that you can run multiple versions in case some people haven't upgraded yet. Just a little counter-intuitive to have to go to a 'Download Trial' to get the software, then when you open it, type in the product key. Seamless to continue working on existing workbooks, files.

Make sure you focus on the data organization. The BI tool will run at the speed of the data....therefore if you have to have joins across multiple data sources of a fair size, these should be connected outside of Tableau in production environments. Alteryx is a great tool for merging data sources and having workflows to support it.

Tableau desktop requires client installation and is used to create data sources and dashboard in tableau which can be published to the server. You can use tableau server's web edit functionality to modify reports on the server, but tableau desktop is needed for a rich report creation experience

We love Tableau and have been using it for a couple years. We mainly use it for data visualization and descriptive analytics projects. We have also recommended it to a couple of our consulting clients. The only issue we see sometimes is the lack of backward compatibility between versions. This sometimes causes issues with sharing insights with clients.

Tableau is a great tool for data visualization. I think it best works for a user who is performing visualization on his own. In order to present the charts or visual graph to a user who doesn't use tableau is very hard. It can be exported in the form of images or a tableau file for which the end user needs to install tableau reader. This is one extra step in implementation which needs to be eliminated it to attain a 9 or a 10 score.

Time needs to be spent ahead of implementation to make sure data sources are set up and ready. Consultants need to understand the data sources and the goals before setting foot on-site. Installation is easy, learning to use it takes time. The training resources available are great.

The desktop application seems to be extremely well done. The app is tightly integrated with Tableau server and makes managing various workbooks and projects relatively straightforward. By working with data extracts, it is easy to quickly develop visualizations and analytic tools and then ship them off to Tableau server for other individuals to consume.
