Tableau fits our needs as a small company
- We recently reduced our licensing due to scaling down the company and Tableau had a reasonable process to accommodate us.
- The most recent version we use (10.4) has been much more reliable - looking forward to the 2018 version that we will implement next month.
- Many times changes in version cause our analysts headaches by changing small things we don't always catch at first and we don't have the means to run a test environment for all of them.

Tableau Server is the best of the best
- Time to adoption has been a very big factor; it was easy to adopt.
- Deployment cost has also been a big factor; outside of the initial purchase of an 8 core license, my organization has been unwilling to revisit getting a larger core license due to the large cost.
- The headcount needed to setup and install Tableau Server can be pretty low. It depends upon your deployment preference, but as an example a single server option domain connected on a windows server install is likely to take only a couple of hours to setup and a couple of hours of maintenance a month. Even a more highly available setup is still not going to require more headcount per-say, merely a little bit more time on initial setup and maintenance.

Usable Analytics for the Right Price!
- We believe that our deployment of Tableau Server has had a large positive ROI for emergency preparedness. While not formally calculated, we have done comparisons with other leading analytics vendors, and there is no competition - Tableau Server is clearly the value leader.
- The major contributor to our positive ROI has primarily been the time to deployment and the time to adoption for critical visualizations and dashboards.

Review by a technician that embeds reports in a web portal
- The analysts love it. As chief technician, I'm neutral. It's heavy, expensive, and somewhat slow. But it helps our analysts contribute to the contents of our client-facing web portals, and that has value.
- Our clients are interested in the interactive dashboard on their data. This is a big ask and a good selling point for our future clients.
- We are not able to get a self-service model yet as it takes a good amount of training for our users.
- Tableau is definitely a good tool if you would like to build dashboards easily.

Tableau part of the DNA of this OEM.
- The foundation of our business was built largely using Tableau server - the overall value that Tableau has brought is hard to quantify. A lot.
- One challenge we've encountered is when the server has experienced interface design changes. Since we use it as a part of a larger application, even minor layout changes have a negative impact on our environment.
- The JavaScript API is a tad limited, so we've had to do some creative programming to work around those limits.
- The (fairly) opaque underlying database structure puts additional limitations on our ability as an OEM/reseller partner. There are several metrics that would benefit us if we had more insight/access.
