LinkedIn Recruiter is a powerful tool that allows users to access a global talent market and search for professionals with specific skills. According to users, the software is particularly useful for identifying qualified candidates for open positions and sourcing passive candidates who are more likely to be qualified and satisfied with the job. With LinkedIn Recruiter, users can effectively search for candidates based on specific requirements such as location, experience, education, job title, and skills. The software enables users to track candidate pipelines, perform outreach activities, and sync with their company's recruiting database to keep track of candidates.

In addition to its use in the recruitment process, LinkedIn Recruiter is also widely used by sales teams for prospecting and business development purposes. Users appreciate the ease of use and intuitive interface of the software, along with its powerful search features that allow for fine-tuning candidate searches within a week. One of the standout features of LinkedIn Recruiter is InMail, which has a higher response rate compared to other outreach methods. This makes it a primary form of outreach and sourcing for many users.

Overall, LinkedIn Recruiter is considered a vital asset for identifying skilled professionals across various industries and positions. It helps address the challenge of finding qualified candidates, especially for hard-to-fill roles or when there is a lack of qualified inbound applicants. Whether it's recruiting professional positions like accounting, sales, and management or sourcing and networking in the IT field, LinkedIn Recruiter provides valuable solutions for both recruiters and salespeople looking to find, engage, and connect with potential candidates and prospects.

LinkedIn Recruiter is one of our primary methods of identifying candidates for our open client positions. It's used by everyone in the organization (recruiters and researchers) and helps us to identify candidates that are qualified and also potentially open to a conversation with our firm.
  • Identifies which candidates are actively open to a conversation with an executive search firm
  • Helps to target our search to qualified candidates based on the detail in the profiles
  • Allows us to send a targeted email to 25 recipients at a time.
  • LinkedIn does not show us when an email has been opened, so we have no idea if the messages are going to a spam folder, getting blocked by a firewall or are just being ignored.
  • LinkedIn does not provide us contact information (phone number/email) unless we are a 1st level connection and the candidate allows us to see that information.
  • LinkedIn support is slow to respond to issues.
  • LinkedIn limits the number of Inmails to 400 unless you are willing to purchase more.
LinkedIn is appropriate for positions where the base salary is at least $60,000 or higher. LinkedIn is less useful for roles that are hourly or lower salaries.

We use Linkedin Recruiter as a sourcing tool for our business. We are a small, scrappy, startup recruitment agency. We are in the business of Direct-Hire positions so easy tools like ZipRecruiter don't usually produce the same quality candidates as you would using LinkedIn Recruiter. With LinkedIn Recruiter, we are able to find awesome passive candidates who tend to be more qualified and end with both the candidate and client being happier.
  • Detailed candidate searching
  • Automated sourcing
  • Project organization
  • Groups are a little difficult to manage in my opinion.
We use LinkedIn Recruiter every day. It is our main source for gathering information, building quality talent pipelines, tracking engagement (Personal & Team), and most of the tools we use are integrated well with it. It's safe to say LinkedIn recruiter is the pulse of the system we have in play here at Rogue Recruitment.

I use LinkedIn Recruiter to find candidates to screen for my client business. The tool helps me accurately narrow down candidates based on location, years of experience, level of education, job title, skills, relevant industries and other keywords that enable me to find great candidates. It also syncs with my company's recruiting database to keep track of candidates.
  • It allows me to look for relevant industries
  • It groups similar titles together on certain job titles
  • It lets you set a minimum and maximum for years of experience
  • It connects with my company's database
  • When I send connection requests and notes, I can't see the outgoing message I sent before they accept.
  • There aren't diversity filters
  • The industries are not all-inclusive
I can manage candidates from the search to moving them to projects to messaging in one place, which makes it a more streamlined and efficient process. If a candidate does not respond to an outreach message from my LinkedIn recruiter mailbox, I can then send a connection request and a message directing them, to the recruiter message.

I used LinkedIn Recruiter to access a global talent market of engaged professionals. I can search for, communicate with, and share the experiences of these professionals in order to fill critical open jobs at my company. The filters and search capabilities allow me to narrow down my search results to hone in on the specific skills I need in future candidates.
  • Access to a global talent marketplace.
  • Targeted searching.
  • Ability to share candidates with hiring teams.
  • Better "diversity" filters.
  • More granular industry categories - product/consulting/services, etc.
  • More contact info - or the ability to search for it in the LIR interface.
LinkedIn Recruiter is the biggest player in the game. If you are not using it, you will be at a competitive disadvantage. Unfortunately, the cost is very prohibitive for small companies. The ability to create projects, share with hiring teams, and collect feedback in one central place is a differentiator.

We use LinkedIn Recruiter as our primary form of outreach and sourcing. We've run the numbers and InMail has a much higher response rate than cold calling, emails, etc. It addresses the issue of finding qualified candidates. We are a sourcing/recruiting services firm and it is vital to what we do as a company.
  • LinkedIn Projects
  • Years of experience
  • Colleges
  • Diversity tags
  • Finding more profiles like "X" person
It is well suited for the initial search of candidates. Finding specific job titles, areas, YOE, etc. It could do better at separating internships from years of experience though.

I use Linkedin Recruiter in order to find qualified candidates and reach out to them via an InMail. I also use the Project feature and save candidates to a project in order to track their progress through the hiring process.
  • LinkedIn Recruiter allows me to easily find candidates and add them to a project
  • LinkedIn Recruiter allows me to easily message candidates
  • LinkedIn Recruiter allows me to create message templates so I can reach the maximum amount of candidates
  • For some reason, whenever I click "View in Recruiter" it takes me to the project summary screen instead of that candidate's profile in Recruiter
  • It would be nice if candidates got automatically moved to the appropriate stage when an action is taken (ie "Contacted" after sending them a message)
Linkedin Recruiter is well suited to be the go-to platform for candidate sourcing and outreach. This is due to the fact that Linkedin is such a popular professional platform so there is automatic credibility built-in. Linkedin Recruiter also does a pretty good job at finding candidates within the parameters it is given. Linkedin Recruiter is my first stop in finding candidates because I have to use another platform once I feel I have exhausted my search on Linkedin Recruiter.

I used it as a tool when sourcing [for] different jobs within the IT Field. Lately, I use it more to network and stay in touch with what's happening in the industry. LinkedIn is a [great] tool when looking for very junior or very senior candidates and establishing communication with people in different fields.
  • Source according to values entered.
  • Provide a wide variety of candidates
  • Allows to document interactions and classify contacts according to their response or lack of.
  • Wider categories are missing in Candidates pipeline
  • Price is expensive when you are only paying for one person access.
  • Charging customers before their trial ends, it's something that happened to me
It is great when you are looking to change jobs, network, source, and recruit share your experience in the professional field, and [give] your opinion on companies you have worked for. It is not [suited] as a meme posting place, to only socialize for fun or [upload] pictures only.

I primarily use LinkedIn Recruiter as a way to track my candidate pipelines and a way to perform outreach. Recruiter is easily the most popular tool for people in my organization to get ahold of qualified candidates as that is where we are likely to get the quickest and most responses.
  • Pipeline management
  • Outreach options
  • Boolean filters
  • Inactive profile tracking
LinkedIn Recruiter is the most well suited for outreach and re-outreach. The ability to track how many messages you've sent someone, create templates, and move people to different stages makes the process much smoother. In addition the ability to track candidates in different projects and move them to and from different stages is stellar.

We use it for:
- Prospecting/business development.
- Advertising roles.
- Searching/sourcing candidates.
- Creating projects and saved searches We put a license on every recruiter/researcher's desk.
  • Shared organisational record of activity.
  • Deep search and search management capability.
  • Strong process management from advertising through to back-end search.
  • Extensive In-Mail capacity for the team.
  • The search function seems to lack the comprehensive nature of a Google X-ray search.
  • If the system could prompt you about similar searches/projects previously run by colleagues it would be a great addition.
  • I would like to be able to create message templates in my message inbox - not just from a search project - this would save a lot of time.
Good
-Great at managing comprehensive search campaigns.
- Highly effective tool providing a high number of InMails to make business development more effective.

Not Good
-Making 121 communication with individuals more convenient (need message templates from inbox).

I use LinkedIn Recruiter for all of my positions that I have vacant that are professional positions. I do not use it for recruiting technicians but positions such as accounting, sales, and management. I find that the business problems it addresses is it a cloud based system which makes searching for a candidate much easier than other sites.
  • The scheduler is my most favorite part of Recruiter. Super easy and organized to use.
  • It also can integrate with my applicant tracking system when and if I hire from LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • The fact that you can see an applicants full profile gives more information than just a resume when selecting candidates to interview.
  • The mobile app is significantly different than the desktop version. I would like to see more consistency.
  • There are a lot of updates that can cause confusion.
I really like that you can directly network with candidates without having to go through a third party site. If you are looking for a higher professional position, this program is a lot more job specific candidates to choose from. The search parameters are much easier to use than other sites. They allow the potential employer to really narrow down the search results to find the most qualified candidates without having to dig through a lot of unqualified profiles. Overall, LinkedIn Recruiter is very very easy and convenient. In my industry it is less appropriate when looking to hire technicians or warehouse personnel.

Our Resource Manager (HR) who's directly involved in the operations oversight knows how to use LinkedIn Recruiter to fine-tune her search for replacements within a week.
  • Quick results and tailored communications.
  • Ability to tailor most-active (likely to respond) candidates.
  • Best-to-time to post feature based on preferred candidates usage of LinkedIn.
When recruiting entry-level talent from a very diverse, ephemeral candidacy pool as that working within international call centers on e-Learning, it is best to rely on as wide as possible networks (as LinkedIn) and simplify as much as possible the search (as through the filtering of its Recruiter tool).

LinkedIn Recruiter was used by the HR team to look out for candidates who are looking for a job change. Since LinkedIn is such a great platform for the Professional world, LinkedIn Recruiter made it easy to get the right candidates for the right roles across the board. Applicates searching was easy based upon the requirements and thus helping in having a effective search for the right candidates.
  • Helps in identifying the candidates looking for a job.
  • Able to filter out the right applicants using the filters.
  • Ability to contact up to 25 candidates using the InMail feature at a time.
  • No visibility of the user contact information.
  • No free trial to get the feel of the usage and compare with other services.
  • Support in case of need is not that good and needs lots of improvement.
  • Not worth the amount being spent for the service.
If you are a very large enterprise and have tens of thousands of dollars that you can spend then this is good for you. However, it's still not worth the money that is being given. Lots of things need to be added or considered for better usage and cost provided. For small and medium companies, you are better off using other providers that are cost effective and are better at times than LinkedIn Recruiter.

Being able to identify viable talent is paramount in the recruiting and HR industry. Linked In has been a vital asset to me currently and in several previous positions. At the last 3 organizations with which I worked, the majority of the staff were super users of LinkedIn and Recruiter Lite.
  • LinkedIn has always had a project function, but recently has expanded its functionality to make it more user friendly and comprehensive.
  • Top research tool where you can identify companies, employees and people by function or job title.
  • LinkedIn makes it easy to build search lists by location and industry.
  • Strong profile platform that can be used as a type of resume where an individual can share as much or as little information as appropriate.
  • We have enjoyed its add on functionality with a direct link from our applicant tracking system directly to a particular candidate profile. The issue I have seen is that half of the time it doesn't find the correct profile. It is there but requires digging to find it.
  • It is expensive to have Recruiter for individual operators or small companies.
It is relatively easy to build a search in an particular area as long as you know the titles or keywords specific to your industry. I probably am able to get 85-90% of the people who may be possibilities in a particular location, discipline, and job.

We are using LinkedIn Recruiter to find and reach out to potential candidates. Finding qualified candidates is a difficult task!
  • Helping connect you with potential candidates.
  • Linking directly to LinkedIn's vast profile of folks.
  • There is a decent communication platform.
  • It would be great if there was a way to express your self better than strictly text communication to show your interest in a candidate.
  • It can feel like you are spamming a potential candidate.
If you are hiring, and working through how you might identify potential candidates then LinkedIn Recruiter is a no brainer.

Our research department uses it to find the best candidates for our technology research projects. It allows me to organize the people I am reviewing and classify them into groups for research projects.
  • Organize people for different projects.
  • Message them and keep track of who I have contacted, who I am rejecting, and how I want to continue with.
  • The search capabilities are excellent.
  • Some of the search capabilities are not as good as Sales Navigator, I wish they were better.
  • I still have not gotten fully trusting for recommended matches, but I appreciate they are working to improve the tool.
It is a great tool for finding people with specific skillsets or company experience on LinkedIn. I wish the search had a few more options for filters. It is great at leveraging the huge database of people at LinkedIn.

No platform is perfect however, LinkedIn Recruiter is, in my processional opinion, the best tool available for the recruitment of skilled, professional, technical roles. It is easy to use, intuitive, has terrific search features, allows for confidential searches and puts the criteria of the need in the hands of the recruiter - it is what you decide it should be.
  • Searching capability.
  • Ease of use.
  • Ability to adjust search and narrow.
  • Can be exclusionary.
  • No real ability to search truly diverse candidates.
  • Not sufficient training on the tool.
If you are in retail, service or do not have the need for highly skilled, educated candidates this is probably not a good tool. They are valuable candidates but this is not the audience for them.

We use Linkedin Recruiter to find candidates for our internal roles, especially hard-to-fill roles (manager - director level, specific industries, etc). It helps us find good candidates when we aren't getting enough qualified inbound applicants.
  • Search functionality.
  • Open to work sorting features.
  • Expansive network of applicants.
  • UI / UX could be improved.
  • Allow for multiple recruiters to share a seat (e.g. 1 company seat).
It is great for finding niche talent, sorting by 'open to work,' expanding network, etc. It is not a great tool to be used by multiple people at the same time. I wish the seats could be shared among the HR/hiring team for 1 company as they are very expensive.

All of our recruiters and salespeople use LinkedIn Recruiter. It is the go-to tool for recruiters to find and engage with potential candidates, and it's the go-tool for our salespeople to connect with and engage with prospects.
  • Filtering.
  • Organizing lists.
  • Ability to reach out to potential candidates/prospects.
  • If it could somehow incorporate contact information that would be appreciated.
  • Deeper integration with our CRM would be appreciated.
  • Deeper integration with our ATS would be appreciated.
It is great as a recruiting tool, it allows recruiters to reach great candidates to help fill our open roles...both for our clients as well as internally.

Our entire organization uses LinkedIn Recruiter - our recruiting team and our sales team. We use it to recruit candidates for our client's open positions but we also use it to build lead lists on the sales side. We use it on the recruiting side to find passive candidates that aren't actively posting their resumes to job boards.
  • Allows us to have a very detailed search
  • Makes it easy to set up search alerts
  • The InMail templates make it very easy to quickly contact candidates
  • They need to add a search function that allows you to search by time zone due to all of the remote positions available now
  • They could include the option for candidates to list their work authorization (Citizen, Green Card, H1b, etc.)
  • Allow for more integration with ATS platforms
We use LinkedIn Recruiter for every IT position that we recruit for. It's helpful to find passive and active candidates. If you need a very specific candidate, it's a great tool because it allows you to really hone in on specific details like degree, years of experience, job title, keywords, and more.
