  • SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
TeamViewer is fully featured while other tools (Dameware) have more options but can be a more involved configuration. In comparison to Remote Utilities, the import features are just about the same for bulk import of active directory or CSV files. I feel TeamViewer stacks up very well against all the competition, including VNC, which can be cost-effective, but not as full-featured with security features as TeamViewer in my use cases.

We used LogMeIn years ago and found their progress in keeping pace with technology was not as good as with TeamViewer. We used both products for a while so we could ascertain which was best, and TeamViewer came out a clear winner. Security was also a big consideration of ours and the feedback we received from our clients clearly showed they felt more secure with our connection from TeamViewer than with any other product.

Really the closest thing is Zoom. Zoom doesn't have nearly the level of security of TeamViewer, and generally, all of Zoom's features were lower quality. Worse screen-share/remote control, file sharing was not secure, poor audio quality. It was generally just unattractive compared to the features of TeamViewer which made working much more convenient

Basically, Chrome Remote doesn't have the flexibility of TeamViewer, and GoToAssist is just too expensive. Only TeamViewer offers what I need at a decent price point. There is a reason why it is a leader in this vertical. I highly recommend them and suggest you don't waste time searching out competitive products.

MSP360 has a Remote Desktop option that [has] similar functionality to TeamViewer. We have found it is a little less mature though does act as a decent backup if we cannot start a TeamViewer session with someone. Despite TeamViewer being more expensive, the reliability and better feature set [are] more important to us than saving a little money. We also use standard MS Remote Desktop to manage our servers but also have TeamViewer available as a back to that as well.

TeamViewer is simple but it also doesn't come with all the security that paid for services have to offer. We tend to use it for smaller projects and for our personal use. I have enjoyed ScreenConnect for its easy to use interface and the ability to copy/transfer files. I highly recommend it for any MSP. LogMeIn is also a wonderful service that is easy to use and it's easy to add non-tech department employees as users. TeamViewer has been are go to when we cannot set a client up in one of these services. It makes an excellent alternative for screen sharing, but it's not our primary service.

TeamViewer has been around a lot longer than the alternatives and has provided a consistent experience. The improvements on the security front are welcome and necessary in the current environment. Not sure if making TeamViewer a full collaboration platform will help it to stand out from the competition who have slicker interfaces and regular updates.

We have tried several solutions like ConnectWise, RDP and VNC. TeamViewer by far was the most robust solution that we have used. It provides a seamless chat, ftp, and remote control of a remote system all from a single connection. While some solutions like RDP and VNC are free, they require ports to be opened on firewalls which provide avenues of attack that aren't available when using TeamViewer.

Honestly, we use both products, but for those instances where we do not have a VPN tunnel to our remote sites or datacenters, TeamViewer is a great option for remote access. The product offering is well developed, mature, and had a large host of features that makes it a program that I love using.

Teamviewer does everything the others do, if not more, but the cost was much better at the time of our purchase. I don't know what the price difference is currently.

TeamViewer was recommended by our IT techs. The time it takes to log into GoToMyPC and gain access to a computer is much longer than TeamViewer. TeamViewer has a better dashboard and ease of use than GoToMyPC. I found it much easier to move between remote computer operation and physical computer operation on TeamViewer.

  • Symantec pcAnywhere (Discontinued) and Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan)
TeamViewer is a thin client, very reliable and easy to use. The application allows both the end-user and support staff to see what is on the screen at the same time. Security passcode is easy to pass along with very little user training required.

I’ve used GoToAssist and in my experience GoToAssist is better for the end-user experience. Skype for Business is better for meetings but that is kind of out of scope for TeamViewer. VNC is best for inside the organization.

I choose this tool because is more user-friendly with a simple graphical user interface. Assistance can be provided very quickly as soon as you get the ID and password installation is simple, there is no need for configurations You can switch users on the operating system and continue working to another user account. Most recommended by most organizations

First of all, the biggest advantage is that it runs directly in Chrome without installation. This is a really big plus. I can focus more on security on my PC. Just because it has a lot of features doesn't mean it's good. Ultimately, users should be able to use it conveniently and when they want without any problems.

TeamViewer is far better than Landesk to get access to systems, Landesk is not easy to use & lacks a lot of features required for proper remote access, so we selected TeamViewer for our requirement.

ConnectWise Control is much easier to use than TeamViewer. It is much easier to set up a "one-off" remote support session and much much much easier to set up a "permanent" remote support connection. ConnectWise also provides a lot more information about the computers connected to it, without having to log in to a computer to find the information. Additionally, ConnectWise is less expensive. I would highly recommend ConnectWise Control over TeamViewer for remote IT support. The only reason I use TeamViewer at all is that it's what some clients were already using, and they are reluctant to switch to ConnectWise Control.

I think the TeamViewer app is the most popular among IT professionals because of its simplicity. It has an interface that anyone who will use it for the first time will feel familiar [with]. During the period we supported users, it even offered an application that we could personalize on our behalf, sending it to the user and simply telling the password was enough for us. TeamViewer has constantly improved with technology and the years passed, but it has always kept this simplicity, and it has continued in all kinds of options it offers. Other apps have never been this convenient and simple.

I have used LogMeIn and versions of VNC in the past, but I found that TeamViewer is more stable, easier to implement, and provides consistent connectivity. Overall it is cost-effective and a more efficient product that can be implemented without the need to open firewall ports and can be installed easily by any end-user.
