ThoughtSpot lets anyone use search ask any question, find insights, and drill infinitely into their company data in seconds. Or get automated insights, when needed.
ThoughtSpot Everywhere: Engaging analytics experiences with search & AI. Businesses today run on apps, and those apps run on data. Too often, however, that data is presented in stale, static dashboards. Users want to be able to surface and explore insights on their own.

Solving for human-scale data access implies solving for data-scale by definition, but data is only a means to an end; the end is to help humans do their jobs better as we approached the problem from the other end. We realized that the solution would end up being quite different than what the industry was trying to do—creating big data lakes, throwing a bunch of data in there, and connecting their existing BI tools to it, then hoping for the best. Being able to store a lot of data in a data lake does not matter. You might have a petabyte of data or maybe even two, but if only a handful of experts know how to access it, it will have a minimal impact on your business. On the other hand, if you gave accurate data access to a million human beings—whether your employees, customers, or partners—even if it were only a hundred gigabytes, it would have a significant impact on your business.
- Powerful search
- Maximized data sources
Cons
- Simple reports are easy to create, and simple questions are readily answered. Complex problems that involve sub-queries etc. are tough to answer.
- Migrating between environments could be refined.

ThoughtSpot is currently being used by my department and not the whole organization. I work for an insurance client and am responsible for data analytics and visualization. Graphs and other visualizations provide a clearer understanding of what the data says and this is where ThoughtSpot comes in. My clients are trying to move completely to ThoughtSpot for any visualization requirements.
- ThoughtSpot is great at using artificial intelligence to give some automated insights from data.
- ThoughtSpot allows you to source data from multiple data stores like Redshift, Excel, etc.
- Querying on ThoughtSpot is super easy.
- It provides a wide variety of visualization.
Cons
- Since ThoughtSpot is not widely used, there are very few tutorials.
- ThoughtSpot needs to include a lot more customization in their visualizations.
- Sometimes, ThoughtSpot is buggy and clients need to contact their support to resolve issues.
Great BI tool! Easy to use, many useful features.

I use Thoughtspot to enable self-serve analytics on pharmaceutical data.
Thouhtspot's USP is its ease of use for the end users and they get answers from their data in just a few clicks.
Plus, with the introduction of Thoughtspot sage, the Gen AI capabilities provides users with NLP capabilites on their data - which is great for business and HQ users (who are not so tech savvy).
Lastly, feature like SpotIQ provide users with automated analysis and insights on their data - which otherwise would have required some manual intervention from a technical user.

- Ease of Use
- Very Fast Querying on even huge datasets
- Strong data modelling features
Cons
- Customizability of the visualization/liveboards
- Addition of support for more data warehouse systems
- Option of creating data extracts
ThoughtSpot is very user friendly and efficient but it is still "green" as a BI tool.

We currently use ThoughtSpot for the traditional company-wide KPI reports. Dashboards are developed and then shared with the appropriate group of people so they can track productivity and efficiency. With ThoughtSpot, end users also have the ability to do their own "search" to build their own graphics, but the primary use as of now remains in the pre-built dashboards.
- Once ThoughtSpot is initially set up, it is pretty easy for end users to build their own graphics
- The site navigation/layout is pretty intuitive so even a novice user should be able to figure out how to navigate the site and build a graphic
- Each graphic has a nice "help" tooltip that explains exactly what is needed before that specific graphic is usable. Ex: if you want to use a Map graphic, they disable it and give you a hover saying something like "you need at least one geographical data point to use a Map"
Cons
- The various graphics that are created to build a dashboard are not related, so if you click on a Bar in Graphic A, it will not highlight the related items in the other Graphics on the dashboard.
- The graphics you place on a dashboard are restricted to three default sizes and you are unable to manually resize the graphic to exactly what you want/need.
- You do not have many options when it comes to customizing each element of a graphic. You have a few standard options to "customize" but they are all pretty basic and do not give you the control that other tools allow
