TIBCO BusinessWorks is used for integration purposes. It is used to integrate external systems to keep data in sync. It is used to develop applications for various companies and their business requirements.
  • Easy to integrate with other application systems
  • Strong in work build, user friendly
  • Strong in banking and communication industry
  • Design deployment and testing the functionality instead of deploying in run time environment and testing.
  • Slower Communication, low throughout.
  • Single Point Of Failure.
Complex integration projects.

Used in my department only and it's used as the main integration service bus between all the channels and backends.
  • Simplicity of use
  • Very productive
  • Easy to learn
  • I think BusinessWorks 5 IDE miss some core functions that exist in any IDE like "Undo","Redo"
  • Enhancing the RV protocol which is may cause RV storm
  • We really need a trusted automated migration tool from BusinessWorks 5 to BusinessWorks 6
In a small or medium company, using an expensive product like TIBCO BusinessWorks is not the correct decision. I think it's more appropriate in the large companies.

It's used for services and process implementation in multiple projects developed for our clients. It's used by a couple of departments.
  • Web services implementation (JMS and HTTP protocol)
  • Easy to deploy
  • No coding
  • Some more features for logging
Tibco BusinessWorks is useful to design, develop and deploy business processes to integrate heterogeneous applications.

We used tibco businessWorks for interconnection of applications. The interface is really user-friendly and intuitive. The development is easy and deployment is too; the only downside is that you need to develop your own way to log or use another tool that is designed for that part. The learning path of the application is pretty simple if you have clear formation.
  • Interface is really intuitive
  • Configuration is pretty easy
  • Everything is doable
  • Logs are a problem is you don't have a framework
I think if you need to interconnect multiple applications and want to have an intuitive interface to develop, you can find that using TIBCO BusinessWorks. The development and deployment are pretty simple and it's pretty easy to train someone new to the technology. You'll need to at least know how the administrator is working though.

TIBCO BusinessWorks connected a new system with legacy servers. We use this product to form massive IO inside digital transformation. The tool is used to handle the conversation between the different servers distributed on our company's intranet. It is believed to be a good interface product and is increasingly inserting its use inside.
  • Good interface product
  • No code writes
  • Good UI
  • Digital transformation
Connect old server legacy with new technology.

Tibco BusinessWorks is being used by the department BPM and integration services of my organization. The business problems that it addresses concern development about financial services. We use BusinessWorks for the logic of back-end, JDBC query or stored procedures, Java methods, batch processes, and to communicate with other systems using software architecture REST or SOAP.
  • It works very well with file XML and WSDL, that is easy to use for everyone.
  • It implements Java functions that permit to gain some time respect the java code.
  • With the administrator you can manage the developed part configuring the machine and the global variable without putting your hand back on the code.
  • The palette of stored procedures: it is better if one did not have to render the results with DB oracle
  • Simple functionality necessitates plugins that are more expensive
  • Make it easier to use part of the grousing and coercion, however it's good as is.
TIBCO BusinessWorks is good for developing the logic of the back-end of a site or a web service. You can use it for an important site or web application that allows execution of heavy functions. Or, you can use it to develop batch processes in a very simple way. It is less appropriate if you want to develop a site with little logic of BE.

TIBCO BusinessWorks is used within the whole organization. It's used to realize applications for big companies such as banks, telephone companies, supermarket chains and so on. Typically, we establish business logics and expose services which are then used by third party software, we take care of legacy environments migration and new functionalities implementation. It improves timings, simplifies maneuverability and scalability.
  • TIBCO does well on data manipulation and on heterogeneous systems integration. We were able to perform messaging between several different systems, without developing custom APIs. With TIBCO BusinessWorks it's easier transform and analyze data, including managing of error cases.
  • It would be great to have dedicated regex functions, such as search and replace, match and so on. For data or strings manipulation it's strongly recommended.
It surely recommended on projects with high frequency of data analysis, on legacy systems migration or simply on several systems integration. For example, it's great for data and services handling centralization to improve security or just for master data managing. It may not be suited on front-end oriented applications, because BusinessWorks performs better as a back-end agent.

BusinessWorks connects all payment processing systems into one single gateway. Also it is the backbone for providing 360 degree customer view under one dashboard.
  • Very scalable
  • Widely used standard data exchange protocols like JSON, Xml
  • Minimal to no coding required
  • Should catch up with changing technology trends quicker than what it already does
  • Better training partners
  • More integration options
Providing a 360 degree dashboard for customers where multiple system integration is required.

We used the TIBCO BusinessWorks as the integration tool which helps to join the pieces of various business units present in the enterprise. From billing systems, to order system to mainframe systems, all systems are getting integrated with TIBCO BusinessWorks.
  • Support various protocols.
  • Easy to deploy and manage the artifacts.
  • Quick to deliver the project and easy to use.
  • Make the deployment possible from the designer.
  • No separate plug-in for different products. All should be incorporated in the same base package.
  • Administrator should have automated monitoring.
It is well suited in transformation of protocols, data massaging and integrating various systems in the enterprise.

We use BW in one department. The main aim is orchestration and preparing data to front-end. The biggest problem of app are bugs in Studio. Runtime works without problems.
  • Good integration software.
  • Possibility of parallel paths in app.
  • Easy mapping.
  • Bugs in Studio.
  • Some errors are invisible in Studio.
  • Not all kinds of wsdl xml are supported.
It is very good for big and complicated integration. It is not good for long term processes.

My company is a Tibco Gold Partner and we have a strict collaboration with Tibco PSG. We trust in their expertise and we work together for reaching the best results for our customer. It is used across the whole organization where an integration layer is needed. Both in on-premise architectures and in cloud ones. It is used also to integrate external platforms as SAP, Salesforce and other major vendors platforms.
  • It is a graphical tool allowing developing complex integration flows without having a deep knowledge.
  • It has a big community able to support developers.
  • It can be enriched adding custom palette built in Java.
  • The debug perspective should be improved adding graphical elements showing test results.
  • On-premises deployment environment is not easy to maintain.
  • An exporting format in Visio for analysis features should be useful.
It is well suited for SOAP and REST integration. It is not appropriate for large back end activities.

TIBCO BusinessWorks is used to manage communication between different systems in which high reliability and high performance must be guaranteed. It is typically used for data transformation and high-performance service exposures and requires high performance and continuous data flow control. Very good log management with different tracking levels.
  • Integration between systems: it easily integrates different systems
  • Transformations: It makes it very easy to transform data between different formats
  • Simplicity of use: in a short time you can manage 100%
  • For the uses I did not find unobstructed points.
It is suitable for quickly defining services;

As a consultant I use BusinessWorks for almost all my clients. It usually offers a middleware approach for the entire company or their customers. Leveraging existing services or developing new ones, we are capable of quickly and efficiently developing modern integrations. Thanks to the evolution of the product we are capable of either offering on-premise or cloud integration for clients who look for robustness and reliability in their software provider.

TIBCO BusinessWorks is a powerful solution for homogeneous integration with a large choice of connectors and the possibility of developing custom ones.
  • Develop and deploy fast. The drag and drop approach allows experts and beginners to develop consistent services, based on common practices. The latest version of BW offers the possibility of easily integrating DevOps standards (CI/CD)
  • BW contains a lot of standard connectors that enable connection to the majority of applications or services. It's very easy to develop custom adapters that will fit our ad-hoc requirements.
  • With a Java backend and XML knowledge, everyone can quickly ramp up in a BW team.
  • Better Integration with the Big Data world
  • More visibility into features planned for release in future versions
  • Extend the possibility of developing customer adapters in every language running within the JVM (e.g. Scala)
Pros:
  • Development of REST services (TIBCO is following open API standards).
  • Integration of legacy systems (not too old such as mainframe)
  • Short time to market
Cons:
  • Developing batch jobs is out of scope of BW
  • Cost might be a blocker for companies thart don't want to invest too much
  • High volumes of data (big data)

Tibco is used to implement interfaces among different systems in different departments.
  • It works very well between SAP and other systems that cannot talk directly to SAP.
  • It can help us to increase/reduce the number of interfaces running at the same time and balancing the load between different servers in different places.
  • Programming is harder at the beginning since there are a lot of new concepts and tools.
  • The programmer needs to know how to handle xml and how to transform it.
  • Handling errors is not good compared with other environments. The product still needs to improve in this area.
TIBCO is a very expensive tool. It needs a lot of servers with lot of resources to work well. Training is also expensive.

BW is used in the BSS software development. We use BW for communicating with other systems in the company. Creating REST and SOAP Web Services.
  • It is relatively easy to communicate with any system in any format.
  • We have been waiting for a good Salesforce adapter which I think that is already available.

I work for largest US telecom client of HCL. TIBCO BW is used as EAI/SOA layer and is in production from past 10 years. At this time I am leading the effort of migration from BW 5.x to CE. Same use case is presented in TIBCO NOW.
  • Ease of learn and use and maintain.
  • Easy to understand business process as icons are UML based, this helps BA's and business users to do quick review if needed.
  • Tested and proven, used by many industries (telecom, banking and logistics etc.)
  • Speed of development and defect fixing is fast, which reduces time to market.
  • The tool is good but takes more memory, in other words, a bit heavy.
  • BWCE ide is based on eclipse, it would have better if TIBCO could have continued with old designer.
When the need is just addition of security layer BW is not the tool, like pass through proxy with some security. BW is best suited when you need to do heavy lifting, complex business processing etc. Heavy transactions.

Mainly used in the MES department for system integration. Limited use on business system level as yet, with the exception of some business systems being integrated with SAP.

Mainly used for process orchestration during integration. It allows us to use a standardized platform for building, deploying and monitoring our integration solutions.

  • Platform independence, although we are using just MS Windows
  • Powerful, with a great set of components (activities) available, yet also being able to customize and extend according to our needs
  • Runs quite stable within deployment
  • Deployed process can become quite resource intensive, with each deployment running within its own JVM
  • Licensing cost is quite high
  • The version we are using does not yet support newer technologies like REST and JSON natively

We find it is well suited for integration solutions using messaging with XML as protocol.

A possible issue could that it may be used for solutions where BW is not really needed and its power does not come through. We have seen it being used as a tool for moving files around, which it can do but is a waste of the tool's power. It is too expensive to use for such trivial actions.

In our organisation our prime implementation is for banking domains which deal with high net worth transactions. We used TIBCO BusinessWorks to integrate multiple interoperable systems. I loved to use TIBCO BusinessWorks as a developer. It is very easy to implement the business requirements from a developer's perspective.
  • In our business when we have multiple systems , if you want to integrate those, TIBCO is the one of the very best integration tools
  • If you want to make a secure transactions with your system, TIBCO will certainly help
  • If you are developer, then you will get to know how TIBCO makes everything easier for the developers by using the TIBCO IDE
  • Excellent support provided by TIBCO
  • BusinessWorks 6.X is not stable yet.

It's being used to support TELCO business processes, integrating the various systems to enable flows like top-ups, new activations, MNPs, while tracing and logging flows, tracing the "Customer Journey" end-to-end.
It also makes easier creating common interfaces between front-end and legacy systems, allowing an easier replacement for legacy system via migration.
  • Easy to use, hard to master. It allows plenty of customization.
  • Well-documented, all-inclusive TIBCO bootcamp and courses.
  • Reliable. Very, very reliable.
  • User Interface can be improved. It often leads to misclicks, which often "screw up" and requires deleting an interface and/or recreating it in order to fix the problem.
Appropriate where you need an easy-to-code, reliable and powerful support to business processes.

We are using TIBCO BusinessWorks as a common EAI platform to connect multiple system and facilitate information flow. It helps my customer to modernize their IT infrastructure without much disruption to their legacy operations.
  • Less development effort
  • Stable environment
  • Require much less deployment downtime
  • More xslt editing and testing support
  • Need enhanced JSON support
  • Adapter configuration could be simplified
I will prefer TIBCO BusinessWorks when legacy systems need to be integrated. I will probably evaluate other options where REST with JSON connectivity is required.

It is being used to address all kind of business needs, people has interiorized the benefits of using a service bus and the situations that require the use of BusinessWorks for business processes
  • For company services virtualization, establish a single point of entry into the different web services and interfaces
  • To establish a standard of security in the authentication of the clients who invoke the services of the company from intranet and internet
  • For the orchestration of complex business processes
  • Nothing to recommend

We use TIBCO BW as an integration tool between our different ERP's and legacy systems. It's being used across the whole organization.
  • It can be extended with plugin usage.
  • It's a very robust solution
  • It's a proven solution all over the globe
  • It follows the SOA principles
  • Very ugly UI to develop.
  • It is hard to learn for some people.
  • It is hard to get resources to excellent skills on TIBCO.
  • Very expensive licences

If you are orchestrating, integrating, routing or anything related with integration between systems that don't speak the same language then TIBCO BusinesWorks is the way to go.
