Connecting to several web-APIs becomes more and more important. Especially if you need data from self-written software in other tools. So the possibilities connecting to any APIs would be a bigger factor than some years ago. But Tibco Scribe is able to connect to every service we need, so we would have bought it (again).

For this type of decision, the advantage that TIBCO CI has is that it appears in Gartner, the second scenario is the strength of the manufacturer in this case TIBCO in solutions of this type.

In the technical aspects, the ease of generating solutions must be taken into account and being able to automate it under DevOps strategies to be able to offer solutions to the business areas in a very agile way.

I wasn't involved in the original evaluation and selection process, so I can't really comment on that aspect. I can say that Scribe has shown to be an effective and useful tool with great features that make my life much easier. It's a good product for people or companies who need well-done integration solutions.

The market and the needs change over time, we might focus a little more on user friendlyness of the product. Some things take quite some time specially if one wants to make a selection of which fields someone wants to synchronize from a very large table for instance.
And the relationship the supplier has with the products it connects to, will also have a bigger role. This last aspect to prevent there arise problems with synchs because of changes on the source application (in our case MS Dynamics 365 CRM)

I think the only thing I would add is maybe paying for some additional training. Or maybe that's a more in-depth, technical demo during the selection process, so that we were introduced to more of the native functionality. That's not a slight against TIBCO Scribe in any way. It's actually because the tool is so powerful, I think getting some formal training would be useful. As we have used the tool over the years, we've continued to learn more of its capabilities. But this means our first few maps could have been written better than they were. We eventually went back and re-wrote several of them to make the integration much more efficient, but at the time, we just didn't know what we didn't know. We were able to get it working and doing what we needed it to do, but we improved the architecture later, or we later learned there were much simpler ways to do the same thing, so our maps didn't need to be as complex as they were originally.
