Data Science is World-Class, as Long as You Have Ongoing Projects that Need World-Class Analyses
- In terms of employee productivity, Data Science has had a positive impact. Analyses that used to take weeks to perform could be done within a day in Data Science. It's worth it as long as there are lots of advanced analytical needs.
- In some cases, Data Science was not worth the effort because some employees don't have the aptitude to take advantage of all the offerings of Data Science. These employees, for some reason, prefer Excel or R.
- Data Science had a positive return on investment in many cases when it not only made analyses simpler, but expanded the range of capability of analysts. Individuals learn new techniques from the software.

A Sweet Spot between Overwhelming and Underwhelming
- There has been a great increase of productivity because of the saved time and streamlined communication about the projects. For a small company, putting our hours to better use is critical while we are still building the business.
- Once you get the hang of the interface, it saves time. But it can be a time-sucker if there are technically challenged employees trying to figure it out. Cloud-based applications are often trickier to understand if you're unfamiliar with internet applications to begin with, so in some cases the time spent trying to teach or learn the application is too extensive for there to be a real benefit.

Positive experience
- Our company has had the program for less than 1 year. We don't expected a positive return this year. The goal is for Data Science to led to defined projects by the end of the end of the year and implementation in the following two. Overall, we are planning on 4 years to fully recoup the cost of the software and the cost of implementing identified projects.

- R cost us 3-5k€, with training more. If we take license/maintenance into account, Data Science license is low cost and good for those taking 'first steps' in statistics, or for students entering labs with little knowledge of R, enabling them to immediately produce 'low grade' studies.

Data Science can save time in exploration of large datasets
- For exploring large datasets with minimal set-up time, it works very well. There is no programming needed, and the graphics can be made to look professional with some editing. This helps stay within budget for data analysis.
- If both senior and junior staff have access to the software, then senior staff can explore and decide on the final analysis and junior staff can make the manual tweaks needed for the final product.
