What is TIBCO Data Virtualization?

TIBCO® Data Virtualization aims to break down data silos and makes complex, distributed data environments simple – placing a business-friendly layer over data – that makes it easier to find, understand, and use. Users focus on data’s business value, while data engineers take care of the rest. The vendor states users can build and manage virtualized datasets and IT curated data services with breakthrough speed and cost-effectiveness.

According to the vendor, TIBCO® Data Virtualization’s differentiating out-of-the-box data sources supports the most demanding connectivity needs, providing nearly four times more data sources than any competitor.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We already [had] a relationship with the company and we trust their solutions. The cost is reasonable and we don't have to worry about quality, a few checks every month is just a routine to make sure no regression happens for new upgrades. We're not sure if other competitors would provide similar experience but we're happy with [TIBCO Data Virtualization].

It was recommended to us by vendors and other departments as they have used it before and have seen improvements in their operations. The cost to implement and the effort required are lesser and easier for us to get started. It was recommended to use data virtualization, as it is the trend.

Data integration is for giving a macro picture to management for an understanding of the current scenario of business on a larger scale. If you want to give that good image you need to work on micro areas which led to stronger data to display the growth. That is the reason we believed in the process rather than focusing only on end results and selected data visualization.

Data virtualization is very insightful. It can be used to create various "what if" scenarios. It is handy to be able to access data from multiple sources in one location that is readily available. It improves business outcomes and drives innovation. We are able to view the data virtually and able to modify data to analyze the impact to our business.

We clearly needed a solution that did not involve data replication or relocation. We simply wanted to place data in a central location and virtualize it. The cost of the underlying infrastructure was another factor for us - we did not want to invest in too much storage space or computing power. At the same time, we wanted a methodology to enable data to be accessed by Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or other industry-standard tools.

There are many benefits in having data visualization/ virtualization one of which to see and have all data from multiple location into one place. Decision makers will be able to make formal decision and have the data to back it up. As they said, data is the key in any business to grow.

The data virtualization that TIBCO offers us is solid in managing data from different sources without having to suffer in the attempt because it is very easy to implement and integrate other TIBCO tools and others from third parties, it is a very good decision. because it is much easier to work with robust data virtualization.

It would depend on the depth of their analytics team. Because competitors have some predetermined analytics tools, especially for marketing, there are some disadvantages in TIBCO. However, an analytics user will appreciate the data flexibility and underlying power in Data Virtualization.

Data virtualization meant that we could spin up a server and start working instead of having to build out a full data warehouse. It also meant that we could be flexible with how we wanted to look at data. The vast majority of the data we need is housed in source databases already, so pulling that information into a physical data warehouse seemed redundant. Although, after a number of years using [TIBCO Data Virtualization] exclusively, we have added a data warehouse to improve our data quality before it ends up in [TIBCO Data Virtualization].

We moved some key analytics roles to Spotfire and TIBCO agreed to bundle Data Virtualization at an attractive price. The cloud-based competitors were much much expensive and came with their cloud-based challenges. We have eliminated many scripts that were formally written in python and SQL as well as Windows scripts.
