As an ongoing task we yearly review our software, data subscriptions and usage to ensure we are using top tier software and data for analysis. When it came time to review our current data analytics software we put the usual suspects to the test. As expected we landed on Spotfire. The new Spotfire X look and feel was streamlined and simple to navigate. The biggest advantage of Spotfire for us was the mapping capabilities.

The only other tool we have used is Excel which was not nearly as quick and easy to pull multiple data sets into and graph. We did try some custom scripts but they would break with every update and were difficult to pass along to others.

Within our use cases Spotfire is preferred due to the ability to manage live data as well as big data in an appropriate time. It is also much better in statistics and advanced analytics.

Spotfire is stand out as it can connect to mostly any database in the market compare to other products which helps us a lot in the organization where different types of API(elastic) big data etc are used.

This tool was selected in my organization around 10 years back. It was suggested to be one of the best and it proved to be. My users are also satisfied with the performance of the tool, but we had some setbacks with SharePoint online and the Azure SQL database. Hopefully, if these issues are acknowledged then it will be great.

We are dealing with and evaluate as many data analytics and BI tools as it is feasible for us in order to be able to suggest the best tool to our clients. Spotfire is strong in intuitive and easy to learn analytics, plus it has built-in functionality to work with R, which is a huge plus to Spotfire as with R, statistical and mathematical modeling can be implemented in Spotfire, which many of our clients find very useful. Learning Spotfire is also relatively easy compared to other tools.

Spotfire can be described as a 50% Vis and 50% ETL software, it can't be as good as Tableau in Data vis, nor it could be good in ETL as Alteryx. But both Alteryx and Tableau can't sum up Spotfire's features in ETL and Data Vis.

Tableau, Microsoft BI. Tableau seems to be innovating much more than Spotfire on the data integration front. Colors have been updated coloring schemes appear to be bettter. Microsoft BI is far much more dashboard focused than big data. I like Tableau better for some things - but not all. Microsoft BI seems to be behind the curve on intuition.

I've never used a product like Spofire, but we chose Spotfire for 2 basic reasons: 1. The client already has Spotfire and was using the platform a lot. 2. We needed an interface to mark data and generate a PDF, which Spotfire can do well. But at the end of the project, our solution had too many business rules and complicated functionalities, which resulted in a very slow application (but functional). So, if you need to develop an application using Spotfire and it has complex functionalities (interactions with the user, write on SQL database, integration with PI), I recommend you to use the C# library sometimes, instead of IronPython.

I have access to tools mentioned above, but I use Spotfire most, because most colleagues I'm working with have Spotfire access, and sharing data and visulization in Spotfire is the most convenient way.

Spotfire is a superior platform for data visitation in terms of the number of plots offered, and the ability to import and process far larger data sets (big data) which is an essential feature when working with data from the chemical and biological data domains. It is also easier to export multiple plots from projects to PDF or JPG then compared to other platforms.

We use both Spotfire and Power BI. Spotfire is more used by technical and engineering folks. Power BI has won a nice following with people in finance/marketing/accounting. I think it speaks to the difference in data between these groups. Spotfire is better for discovery and Power BI for canned and formatted outputs.

Traditionally we used the Microsoft packages, mainly Excel for data analysis. This is great for small simple datasets however when more complex analysis is required on larger datasets this becomes much more difficult, and the software struggles to handle it. TIBCO is much more suited to these sort of datasets and handles them with ease.

JMP is much better suited for deep dives into one specific data set. Its ability to drill down outpaces Spotfire. JMP is also easier to learn and has more and clearer documentation than Spotfire. However, I selected Spotfire because Spotfire has much superior visualization tools, much easier sharing capabilities, and allows one to build much more intuitive user interfaces.

I feel Tableau is more rigid and not flexible compared to Spotfire. I feel that difference while working with retail data that has more than 10 million records. On Tableau, it took almost 10 minutes to open up a report. Whereas Spotfire did this in a minute. Our data is also live, so we need to be updating the report every thirty minutes. We do this using the scheduled update, which is lacking (the process is too difficult to do every time) in Tableau.
