The training was supposed to be more general user tips and tricks, but became very R focused very quickly. We haven't really been using R that much, and only a few of us actually know how to use it, so the training was over most of our heads, and not very applicable to our everyday work.

I have only had the basic training. It was very useful for new users. The majority of what is taught in the training can be self-taught by daily use of the product. However there were also many things I learned even after using the product for over a year. I would highly recommend investing in the training offered by Spotfire.

It was solid training with a good introduction but was a bit like drinking from a fire hose. Almost too much information to fully comprehend and adsorb. The Spotfire examples and notes are top notch though and if you make an effort to work through the examples, you can learn a great deal.

In-person training was very focused on only predefined data sets and wasn't ready to show some examples of live data connection. It could be more interesting and effective if they used a data set from the participants and could show the capabilities on the specific requirements and live data stories through it.

Training was ultimately good - given our time and capital constraints we had to fit novice training and advanced training into a single session with a shorter timeline than Spotfire would have preferred. This limited the amount of advanced training received.

The training was very in depth and useful. However, the largest draw-back was the syllabus. The instructor rigidly followed the course outline. If you asked a question that was not part of the course, especially if it was covered in a subsequent course, the instructor would not answer the question, and would recommend attending that course for the answer.

The in-person training was great. We were able to see how the software is designed to work as well as providing lots of hands on demos and hands-on exercises to allow for practicing in order to become more familiar with how to achieve the results we were looking for when creating visualizations.

The in person training I have experienced with the vendor has usually been very good. In the past the west coast representatives would actually offer free on site seminars that are usually very helpful. Because my job role includes training scientists to use Spotfire on a regular basis, we usually do not use training from the vendor.

The in person training was very good because it was hands on. It was very easy to follow along and there were many times when I got stuck but was able to get help. Normally my problems were nothing big, and were easily fixed. I prefer in person training over any other type.
