My own experience suggests that Spotfire works best in situations requiring data processing and visualization. Spotfire is the perfect solution for analyzing and visualizing this complicated data because of its powerful analytics skills and ability to link to numerous data sources. Financial services firms are another setting in which Spotfire excels. To make wise business judgments, this industry is always in need of analyzing massive amounts of financial data. But there are other situations in which Spotfire might not be as useful. When real-time data analysis is the main focus, this is one such situation. Streaming or real-time data analysis is not as well suited for Spotfire as historical data analysis is.

A high level of data integration is available here it supports various data sources and so on. Collaborating features allow users to give access to the dashboard and merge data analytics with other team members. It can meet the demands of both small and large size business enterprises. A customized dashboard and reports are provided to meet the specific needs and get support of extensibility through APIs and customized scripts.

it is most suited for internal and external data linking to keep data continuously flowing. it is less appropriate when you have small amount of data that is not organized. it should be able to make it so you can easily transition your data into a meaningful data. it is more suited for mapping as well.

Spotfire was used to look at a large data set of an in process manufacturing step. The data visualization was set up to look at yield as a function of several inputs (chemical / equipment / operator). After only a short analysis it was immediately obvious that there was a 5% yield discrepancy based on the operator using the equipment. The operators were retrained and the yield gap was eliminated.

Spotfire is well suited for the quick development of PoCs and dashboarding within a DEV environment. Its user-friendly interface, extensive data connectivity options, and interactive visualization capabilities enable developers to rapidly prototype and validate ideas. Additionally, Spotfire has the ability to create interactive dashboards that empower developers to showcase their PoC results and present data-driven insights effectively within the development environment. Due to its missing version control, the productization of these dashboards is rather problematic.

Spotfire is really a powerful visualization tool because it is very user friendly. The way it manages the data and allows users to build visualizations are very intuitive. So I can say Spotfire can really be used even by non-technical people like the Marketing folks. But some complex functionalities, some technical knowledge is required like coding so it becomes less appropriate for those who has zero knowledge in programming. So I guess what Spotfire has to work on is to enhance the tool in a way that those other calculations can be done by using drag-and-drop approach.

Spotfire is an excellent tool for the production environment, such as yield monitoring, process control, and long trends. It does well with drilling down marked data and provides insight into troubled lots. Its less appropriate for simple summaries for management. They get confused with the complexity of the tool; best to stick with an excel file or powerpoint.

Spotfire is well suited for visualizations of data in various forms. There are multiple ways to display the data and a lot of customization available. In particular, I can overlay a line graph on multiple bar graphs and then be able to switch the data values to look at, zoom in/out, and plenty of other things.

This is very well suited for detailed implementation of data analytics. Youc an have thousands of rows of data and with the help of spotfire you can get descriptive stats and vizualizations.

It is not as convenient for quick data analysis as the over head is too much, I prefer excel for that

Is very well suited for condition based maintenance, predictive maintenance, material forecasting, to connect with big data great volumes use cases and very well suited to work with AWS, S3 and other cloud solutions It is not very well suited to provide service to a lot of different external clients as the "landing page" is the Spotfire one and not your solution. When having issues to solve the speed of SaaS support could be improved

Spotfire is powerful BI tool, with strong data operations (i.e. ETL) and powerful visualizations. If you are working with a large datasets or streaming datasets, Spotfire is a great option. Spotfire also supports the ability to bring your own code from R or Python. This allows the tool to be quite versatile. This is a tool designed for Enterprises.

Is very good handling Big data volumes. In our case we are talking about 14.000 signals at miliseconds frequency. Drill down capability provides a very good experience to understand where to focus the action based on the information provided to the user. The scenario in which you want to provide Service for external clients without letting them know you are working with Spotfire is not easy. Must display dashboards per client, projects, use case… through Spotfire user interface

Spotfire is well suited for environments where data analysis is standard and can be run through automated pipelines: the final results need to be showed to people who can not write or interpret the analysis details, but want to explore the results independently and put them in the context of published data.

Making trends is very easy to do with this tool in short time.

Making a kind of reports which you can make very easily with Business Objects ( a lot of numeric values on a page, with a small lettersize) is not easy to do and it doesn't look nice. It's not 'pixelperfect'.

In the case of survey analysis, I used Spotfire for multi-dimensional analysis. My customer usually received just one-dimensional answers from the analyzer. But I analyzed/showed each question from a multi-dimensional point of view for each question. So customers could understand each question more deeply and quickly for customers' thinking.

Spotfire is the best specially on onpremise setup. It will provide a lot of flexibility on your reporting need via it's custom visual using JavaScript, update chart property on the fly using iron python and easy to manage server user and data sources. I only don't like with spotfire is its documentation for server setup is seems not updated in some scenarios. Also some error messages during server setup is not sufficient to solve issues.

I was asked to analyze a huge distributed data set and it was no feasible to develop Data Model level that quickly. Spotfire's scripting capabilities helped a lot to convert the requirements in to a feasible requirement, it allowed to programmatically read data, dynamically transform and visualize on the fly. This was not feasible with other tools, without having a data layer established. This saved a lot of time.
