Living in the fast lane with Toad.
- Oracle developers can't do without Toad. Watching an Oracle developer going around in Toad is like watching Liszt playing piano. It's fast and virtuose. Which is the reason that the company kept toad, instead of going for free alternatives.
- Somewhat negative is the fact that any other than Oracle developer needs to do work in Oracle from time to time. Since there iOS no free version of Toad, they work in a different environment (SQL Developer). This sometimes leads to communication mismatch, when a non-Oracle developer asks a Oracle developer for advice, and they can't answer the question because they use different tools.
- A weird positive fact: Toad makes Oracle developers happy. It's the same thing with C# developers being happy through Visual Studio. I guess it makes them feel like they're flying the most advanced airplane in the world. Asking an Oracle developer to do something for you, makes them go big smile, if only for the simple reason that they're given a reason to open Toad.

- Toad for Oracle was the product of choice and we have been extremely satisfied with it.
- Usually, DBAs prefer to use their command line scripts, but even our DBAs have been extensively using Toad for Oracle due to convenience reasons.

The tool for Oracle
- Some of the data sources I connect to are very primitive and still use pipe-delimited flat files. I have figured out a way to connect to these but it was very difficult.
- I wish it were easier to convert Oracle to SQL Server, SQL scripting and vise versa. I move frequently between the two and tire of rewriting my scripts.
- I've had some preferences lost in the course of an upgrade. We have a very specific network and operating system environment with roaming profiles, so that could simply be a result of that.

Toad for Oracle is well suited for technical advanced database admin
- We needed Toad because we need to access legacy Oracle data at times. So in that aspect, the software seals the gap.
- I spent a relatively longer time to learn to use the software for basic functions since its connection options were difficult compare to other Database software
- Toad is a great tool and good thing is developers are already familiar with it. There are strong online user communities and our developers learned from them or each other. There may not need additional training for Toad for our developers.
- Database guys have their own preferences of tools. Toad is an expensive tool and everyone doesn't have to buy it, if there are alternatives.
- We started pulling unstructured and big data in our Oracle based EDW. Toad may need additional features to be integrated with advanced analytics: machine learning tools (e.g. R) or data pipelining tools (e.g. Alteryx)

Toad for Oracle Makes Oracle database simple
- We use a lot of stored procedures, it has increased the productivity of not just creating them but for troubleshooting.
- The other area it has shown an important ROI for us is in ease of use, I can get someone trained on using it in a short period of time.
- Connecting to multi-databases and having them clearly define as to which ones I am connected too, make it easier to know where I am working and not worry I am not in the wrong database before running things.
