Totango felt like a great option that was beyond entry-level, but not a sledgehammer for a nail for what, at the time, was a brand new Customer Experience team being formed.

I think Salesforce is pretty limited based on its platforms and tools whereas, Totango is great and very helpful as a Customer Success platform. Salesforce, for me, is more sales-oriented. And it’s also more complicated than Totango.

Totango is so much better than Gainsight. The ease of logging a touchpoint, the ability to measure impact, and review metrics at a glance have made it much easier to understand areas of need for clients and a simple and easy way to access the tool. Hands down - a much better fit for our team than our experience using Gainsight.

ChurnZero - I've taken a look at this solution but didn't get to form a definitive opinion about it yet. Right now it looks like their Integration system is a bit more limited than Totango's.

Custify - It's a good tool but unlike Totango it feels a bit more sales focused. Also it doesn't feel as user friendly as Totango when it comes to the interface, and also not as organised.

The only other product we seriously looked at was Gainsight. It had all the features we were looking for, but the high price tag deterred us. As a startup, we want to ensure that we are lean and utilizing our resources in a smart way. The ability to start building out Totango on the free community version was a huge plus and a great tactic I believe on their part.

We only briefly considered Gainsight and other customer success tools, but quickly abandoned those companies because of the hefty price tag. We recognized that this was something we needed, but did not yet have the funding to be able to pay a huge amount of money for the tool. Being able to get our feet wet and adopt Totango for free initially really benefited us. We were able to test things out, learn and make sure that this was something we wanted to use long-term.
