Trello is being used to manage the series of events we put on. We have boards that manage our marketing, operations, team culture, sponsors, and general business. The program is being used by our management team, but it's audited at the board level.

Slack helps us stay on track with our projects and make sure that things don't fall through the cracks. The problem that we used to have was it was very difficult to hold people accountable for tasks. Now, the boards are available to everyone and there's accountability for all to keep it up to date.
  • Organizes different departments of our business
  • It streamlines accountability for tasks that have to be completed
  • It makes it possible to see where different people in your organization may be stuck and allows you to communicate right on the boards
  • Trello can add a few more tools in its tool belt to make it more robust
  • If people don't take responsibility for managing the boards, they can become disorganized very quickly
Trello is useful for teams that have targets that they have to reach and can conceptualize those targets into smaller and actionable goals. It is also a great tool to bring into debrief meetings since the team can update the board together and address any areas why people are getting stuck.

The security that Trello has given us for the department has been excellent, it has allowed us all to have access to the knowledge of the projects. Today we can move forward thanks to Trello, which in turn provides us with an interface where intuition is fully present. I like to use Trello; it has changed the perspective of things.
  • Guaranteed productivity
  • Cohesion of the work team.
  • Monitoring and control of activities.
  • Tool that drives success.
  • File upload a little slow.
  • Tailor-made innovation
  • Many available options confuse the activities that will be carried out
It adapts very well to project management and order in the field of activity management. In addition, Trello wants our team to be always aware of the latest changes. On the other hand, I think it's good that they improve the process of uploading files, since at this moment it is far from being a quality service.

I use Trello as a projects and tasks management tool for team projects, document control and to track resource deliverables.
  • Document repository
  • Checklist tracking
  • Resource assignment and tracking deliverables.
  • Horizontal column layout could get hard to read with multiple columns on one board.
  • The audit trail of every transaction is overkill.
A more robust project management tool would work better for larger organizational projects. Trello does a good job maintaining documents and checklists.

Trello is currently used to track the tasks in a visual way that make obvious in which state they currently are.
  • Easy to use and understand, no training necessary at all
  • Mobile app to check the tasks from your mobile phone
  • Ability to add comments and attachments to the tasks
  • Subtasks per tasks
  • Probably a minimalistic approach would make Trello even better, I'd like to see some option to switch between minimalistic and complete view.
It can be used to track almost any kind of tasks within teams. I'd probably choose JIRA if I'm using the Attlasian suite though.

We use Trello across our organization and with client- and supported-organizations. The ability to share Trello boards enables collaboration and management without the confines of more limited solutions, which in turn encourages more effective sharing of content and concepts. Trello enables us to collaborate on virtual boards that organize ideas, collect comments and store assets and links that are essential to website design, social media management, campaign planning and project tracking.
  • Trello is very effective at allowing a user to organize ideas in a personal fashion. Yes, the software has constraints in which you must work, but the card-based concept is easily accepted by an user who has every written ideas on scraps of paper.
  • Trello is available as a mobile app, a Mac app and as a website so the software adapts to and leverages the advantages of the platform on which you are currently work.
  • Trello also allows easy updates via email so ideas don't have to be filed for later action. Receive an emailed request and forward it directly to the appropriate Trello board.
  • Trello is very good when collaborating with users who are outside your organization, don't have a company email address or are on the other side of the world.
  • Trello is not as robust a product for the Windows environment, although the web interface is as functional as most users will need.
  • Trello does not make it easy to completely delete content. The archive function is useful but sometimes you just want to get rid of something completely.
  • Trello does note currently offer an offline editing function which would be very useful.
I recommend Trello to clients and collaborative organizations who need to manage any size project. For some, the freeform aspect can be intimidating at first but soon becomes an expectation of other software solutions. Trello is especially good for visual learns, visual-centric businesses and projects related to communications and social media. With the mobile app, Trello enables the nice interface features to work without the quirks of advanced web design on tablets and phones.

We used Trello in our marketing department and collaborated with the design and content teams. It helped us set tasks and assign them to appropriate team members. We used labels and integration with Dropbox a lot, as we were dealing with different projects and design files. It was a great experience to use Trello, as it helped us to be more organized and achieve our daily goals for our department. I also used Trello's mobile app which was very convenient.
  • It's simple and very easy-to-use. You just sign up, create a board and you are all set.
  • The boards are very well visualized and it gives a clear picture of the overall situation. It helps a lot to see the big picture and keep the team organized.
  • It's very convenient to use Trello's mobile app on the go. It's again very user friendly and does the job perfectly.
  • It would be great to receive reminders when the tasks are approaching due dates.
It's a great product both for personal use and also for using with a team. I personally used it with the marketing, design and content teams. It helps to organize the process from A to Z. You create a task on the board, add a description, assign members, set a due date and that's it. Of course, it has a lot of functionality, but you can use it as simply as that.

Trello is being used across a number of departments in our organization to keep track of deadlines and to-do lists for project work. It is also a means of requesting new features in our database with our tech guy. It allows us the fluidity of project management needed in a start up while also allowing others to see which projects we are up to for our project management.
  • To-Do List features make organizing tasks very easy.
  • The ability to add tags to cards when using boards across multiple departments is key functionality.
  • The filter feature works extremely well. It is easy to manage cards.
  • Trello could use a great intro that shows you all of the great functionality available. It is an easy system but some of the functions are not obvious and members could benefit from a comprehensive tutorial.
Trello is key for any employee who has project management work. If you need to keep track of projects and due dates or to-do lists it can function much like a calendar. It is a great way to see what is on your plate to manage expectations at both the management level and associate level so one does not take on too much work.

Trello is used by all our team members in our company. It's a great tool that helps us organize not just the tasks that need to be completed, but also product roadmap, ideas, and others. It's visual appearance and boards help us see the big picture and understand where we are in terms of product development, bug fixing, marketing, administrative tasks, etc.
  • Trello is great at visualizing the tasks that need to be completed. Their boards are a great way to do that.
  • It's great that you can add additional information to tasks, such as description, comments, links, screenshots, add members to it, set a due date, add labels and much more. It's really helpful.
  • Trello supports integrations with numerous platforms that we already use (e.g. Slack, Google Drive) and it's very convenient to use those integrations.
  • I also use Trello's mobile app on iPhone and it's great.
  • The early versions of their Mac app had several small bugs, but I guess it's already solved now.
  • Nothing else to mention. I like how Trello works and it's really helpful for our team.
It doesn't matter if you are a freelancer, a small agency, a startup or a big company, as Trello is useful for all above-mentioned types of businesses. It's great for tracking daily tasks, as well as using as a tool to write down ideas. For example, I know people using Trello for their grocery shopping list and also know freelancers who use it to organize their tasks.

I use Trello in a number of ways in the business. From helping manage my personal tasks to managing the sales pipeline and project management. I use it via the app as a brain dump to get ideas out of my head into a list which I then organise via the cards into their priorities. Saves me having to juggle stuff in my head knowing its in there.

I use it to manage my sales pipeline so see visually the stages. Likewise for when I manage different types of projects. The visual card system helps me keep on track.
  • App is really handy
  • I like the card-based visuals and the simple navigation
  • I use the Zapier link to maximise the effectiveness
  • Could have different types of view like lists/Gantt
  • Addition of more custom fields would be handy
  • Struggle to find more cons as its pretty good
Well suited to manage personal tasks and actions. Especially if you use a GTD (Getting Things Done) based productivity regimen. Great for small teams collaborating and managing projects.
It's not a fully fledged CRM or project management system but it can help businesses make their first steps into using collaborative working systems.

In our company, we primarily used Trello for two different departments: our Brand Development/PR department and our technology department. For Brand Development, we were able to set up boards to help track metrics that essentially our project management tools weren't quite correctly equipped for. Certain opportunities would arise from several different ongoing activities, and it was a seamless visual way to our team to keep track. They were able to, at a glance, instantly see which are the more fruitful activities and allowed them to shift focus to that area.

For our tech department, we used it to collaborate with several different members of our team both in and out of house. The collective feature of the board allowed us to work on projects in sprints. Individuals were able to easily drag and drop items that did not get completed into the next list.

Overall, for a company of creatives this is an amazing visual tool.
  • Visuals
  • Accessibility
  • Collaboration
  • Simplicity
  • Free option very robust
  • Learning curve for less straightforward functions
  • No Delete Option for Cards
  • Formatting Descriptions is difficult
Trello at face value is simplicity. You can create an account, get up and running, and have your board populated with cards and lists in under 5 minutes. I use it as a virtual checklist, with the added features of being able to label, set due dates, collaborate, and comment.

Agile All The Way Down

Trello makes it easier for Agile teams to keep track of what everyone is working on with minimal administrative overhead. The simple, manoeuvrable base interface is one of Trello's greatest strengths - in the past, a pain point when tracking project status during standups was the drudgery associated with updating Kanban and Sprint boards on clunkier interfaces like a physical whiteboard or JIRA boards. JIRA allows for greater abstraction of complex tasks and larger organisations, but oftentimes what is needed is simply something lightweight that does not feel like a chore to update. Trello also makes it easy to set up custom workflows for different teams by editing the lists on a board. If you work in a team of 5-10 people and want to trim the fat in your Agile ceremonies, Trello is definitely a tool to consider. The Trello user interface is extremely smooth and responsive, which can reduce the drag when collaborating with teammembers.
  • Kanban Boards
  • Rich ecosystem of integrations
  • Attractive, deceptively simply yet powerful card-based interface
  • Simplicity is its greatest strength but also its greatest challenge when used by large teams. Personally I am not sure how well an organisation with 100-200 people would fare based on Trello alone, unless they had strong commitments to Agile methodologies at all levels of the organisation.
  • Certain basic features like card sub-tasks and epics are only available as "Power Ups", which have limits on how many are active at one time. While it's understandable that Trello would have this model, I feel that some features should come with the bare-bones version of the product, such as sub-tasks and epics, since they are essential for productivity.
Trello is extremely well-suited for Agile development environments and iterative development approaches. It may be less appropriate for organisations that have strict ceremonial requirements or are strongly Waterfall in their methodology. In those environments, Trello won't be as useful, and there are better tools for tracking Waterfall development cycles. As mentioned, I am also not certain of how well Trello would perform in a large corporate business. It would certainly be worth investigating if such a business were strongly Agile, but it may not have the required complexity to track cross-functional teamwork or integrate teams with different development styles.

Trello tops for workflow

Trello is a great way to track workflows across numerous projects. It is currently being used by multiple departments and is helping us reduce the use of email. By creating templates for similar projects, it also makes it easy to kick start a project and great to add to the templates when something comes up in a new project that you hadn't thought of before.
  • Tasks organisation
  • Tracking progress
  • Assigning tasks to the right people
  • Would be good to see if there was a way to see whether a card had at least been read, even if not completed
  • Could do with recognising internal links to work folders when the asset is over the upload limit.
  • Or could create a "wetransfer" zip if you tried to upload something that was bigger then allowance.
Can be used for projects with multiple or single inputs. Great way of putting a workflow list together and working through the necessary tasks without having to send numerous emails and then try and assess what has/hasn't been done. Also great way of tracking rounds of amends when you create separate cards with client amends and able to then supply this back if questions regarding tracking.

A more organized process for projects I already manage, and a place to capture tasks as they happen on new projects I'm working on. The biggest benefit is because it is so fluid I can use it to track anything I need to track.I love Trello. I use it every day for managing big projects that last over several months, to team efforts supporting conferences, to my everyday tasks.
  • I use it every day for managing big projects that last over several months, to team efforts supporting conferences, to my everyday tasks
  • I've used it for tracking workouts, vacations, presentations, all sorts of things.
  • I like the free-form of the tool. The ability to move cards and lists around with a click-and-drag of the mouse is fantastic. I like that I can schedule tasks to other members of my team and them to me.
  • I love it, but I think that because it is so free-flowing, meaning you can arrange boards and cards in as many ways as you can imagine, that some users find this "lack of structure" more complicated.

It is being used across the whole organization. We use it for everything from product management, focus groups, content marketing, onboarding and sales pipelines.

The best part about Trello is that it allows you to grow into their paid version. Their freemium is so powerful yet as the organization grows there are things you need to upgrade to but it's not until your organization is at that stage meaning its ROI is positive.
  • Project management across any size team
  • Sales CRM's can be built for free. Using power add-ons such as custom fields and integrations with gmail it is the best kept Sales CRM secret.
  • Collaboration for content management, content marketing and client on-boarding processes.
  • The ability to add playable videos right in the comments section
  • Dynamic links - once you set a link it uploads meta data as well (like putting a link on Facebook)
  • Better referral system - I refer hundreds of people but no longer get rewarded.
Perfect for teams wanting a low cost systems to collaborate. Perfect for project management, sales, and marketing. With add-ons it becomes even more powerful. Integrations allow it to become a scrum collaboration tool and more. I can't personally think of much I wouldn't use Trello for. I use it not only for SME's and Fortune 500's but for home management as well.

Our company uses Trello for task and project management and communication between teams. Each department uses various Trello boards for projects, and is aligned with Agile methodologies of project management.
  • Advanced user customization including backgrounds, stickers, and various components to make each board unique.
  • Ease of adding things to separate tasks by using cards. Documents, images, anything necessary can be added with a click or a paste.
  • No board to big or small. Can add hundreds of line items, tasks, projects, teams, and communicate with ease between them regardless of size.
  • The ability to color code individual cards fully rather than labels
  • Ability to resize and move stickers would come in handy
Trello is perfect for any project or task where there are multiple things to do and coordinate or keep track of. Particularly useful among teams of more than 2 people.

Trello is used across my company to assist with project and task management. It helps us make requests from other departments, organize our to-dos, and manage larger-scale projects.
  • Organize tasks - From daily to-do lists or large projects, Trello's simple UI makes it easy to break down your projects into smaller chunks.
  • Foster collaboration - Trello makes it simple to share cards with teammates across the company so they can assist or have eyes on the work being done.
  • Manage projects - being able to set deadlines and prioritize cards makes it easy to visualize a project.
  • Deadlines could be integrated with calendar apps.
Trello is great for tracking progress on multi-department projects where you're moving quickly. It keeps tasks in once place, and notifies collaborators.

I use Trello as part of my team to communicate, post leads and track previous work completed. It's easy to review and check to see if I've already submitted a lead before. Also, I like how I receive an email if I'm away from my desk if a team member has asked a question or given me a new task to perform.
  • It's easy to see several things at once, it's a really helpful visual to see what others on my team are contributing. For people that are new, it's easy to give a recommendation about how to best comment and suggest a more efficient workflow.
  • Emails are not sent every time data is inputted, only when someone wants to get your attention or make sure you've received a directive.
  • You don't have to sign in every time you use the program, it's up for days at a time and doesn't time you out if you haven't used it for a day or two. Very nice feature for those of us that have tons of windows open in our browser any given day.
  • I haven't seen anything in particular that I didn't like, honestly.
  • The instructional video was helpful, but I had to watch it 3 times to get the hang of navigating around the software. Not necessarily a bad thing, it's common for learning new programs.
  • Much more tedious to use the mobile version. But hey, when the dashboard is that jam packed with needed info, you can't really complain.
Best suited for people with at least 4+ team members to work with. Less appropriate if there's only two people. In that instance, just email one another, it's not worth the company fee for only 2 people. Best thing to do is try it out, you'll know then if it's best suited for your needs.

We use Trello as a way to communicate, update and collaborate on internal projects and with our clients. We use cards to explain the project that we are working on, the attachments section is helpful and I love the checklist option as well.

Trello stops the need for the endless amount of emails and forwarding from one person to the next. It is an easy place to share thoughts, updates and needed edits in one spot for all stakeholders to see.
  • We can add a checklist of edits for a particular project, that the editor can check off as they make the edits.
  • We can easily communicate with each stakeholder in a project quickly and efficiently—without having to repeat information to a new person.
  • Trello is able to integrate with harvest which is what we use as our time tracking tool.
  • If a person adds a comment to a card, but doesn't tag you, you won't be notified, unless you 'subscribe' to the card. It is a hassle to subscribe to each card.
  • If you have a lot of notifications, it can be difficult to find them in the notification section.
  • If you crate a comment, and edit the comment, the person tagged is not re-notified of the comment. If they just look at the email they receive—they may not see the edit.
Trello is great to use in an office where not all important stakeholders are in the same building/area. It allows collaboration without the need to physically be available. It is also helpful when you can cut down on some of the email communications back and forth. If you or your team are big into face-to-face meetings, Trello may not be the most effective/efficient tool.

We use Trello to manage various different projects on behalf of our company and our clients. Our entire team uses it; it helps us keep track of where we are with each project and share content/resources despite all of us working from different locations. I love that we can set up a board for each client, and then within that board we can have different lists and cards to separate the individual pieces we're working on. I couldn't imagine managing some of our various projects without it!
  • Project Management
  • Organization
  • Internal Team Communication
  • It would be nice to have a quick and easy option to switch between boards within one "team" instead of needing to click around a few different places.
For simple projects, Trello isn't really necessary, but it's a fantastic tool for keeping track of projects that have multiple team members contributing. By setting up a Team for a project and then Boards, Lists and Cards within that team, you can keep each other updated on progress, share resources, etc.

We use Trello in my creative group to help keep our projects organized and assigned. We prefer our project management process to be less data-slave oriented and more flexible, so it works well for us to know who is responsible for what and more without spending a ton of time detailing it all out. Our expectations for our team is based on a trust of their ability and desire to get the job done, and Trello is not meant to keep them honest, but keep everyone aware of the overall department's work.
  • Trello is super easy to use!
  • Trello syncs across devices better than anything else we have tried.
  • Trello keeps it simple and does not over-complicate the experience.
  • Trello could have built in time tracking for a card or something. You can do it by using a third party, but it costs something and isn't obviously great.
  • Trello could be a little easier on a phone. The app is good, but I can't get a full board view, which may be impossible.. but they are smart and could figure that out maybe?
  • Trello's free version isn't as much fun as its business gold version.
I have used Trello for a ton of different things. We use it to track creative projects, track sales prospects and proposal cycles, create idea repositories, track office and personal moves, track client issues and bugs, and many other things. The beauty is how flexible it is and that's why we love it. Anything is possible.

In my company we use Trello as a project management tool as well as a single source of information on our projects. We work together with several people all over the world. Trello makes it easy for us to collaborate together, notify each other, and keep all the files in order.
  • Trello is more than a TODO list. If you use SCRUM or any sort of variant, Trello makes it very easy to follow along. The way that Trello is organized it works better than dapulse or Basecamp.
  • Trello works with levels of organizational hierarchy. The most basic is a card. The card can contain links, files, checklists, messages, and can be assigned to certain people. The cards are placed and moved around on Lists. And a collection of Lists are called a Board. Trello allows you to use these levels however you desire.
  • Unlike Basecamp, Wunderlust, or dapulse which are essentially virtual checklists, Trello does what they do just on the card level and way more. If you like to be able to take a step back and look at how projects are going, Trello is the program for you.
  • I see Trello as a way for teams to work together remotely and virtually. It would be awesome to integrate video chat. We have to use a separate program to create and execute online meetings.
  • It would be great for Trello to allow you to shrink and grow the width of the lists, instead of all being uniform. That way I can shrink the width of lists that aren't important to me, in just my view.
  • Trello should consider updating the User Interface. It is very engineer looking. They could really make it beautiful.
Trello works great for teams who use SCRUM. Trello also works well with project managment. Trello works great when collaborating with teams and team members. I wouldn't recommend Trello for just one user who just needs a to-do list. Trello is way more than just a to-do list. It's the best project management software I have ever used.

Trello is being used at a personal level only. The enterprise tools provided are inflexible and are not well integrated. Trello provides a way to manage personal tasks over and above the tools provided by the organization. I have demonstrated Trello's features and benefits to a number of groups within the organization, but commitment to existing vendors is strong and hard to shift.
  • Ease of use.
  • Cross-platform and always in sync.
  • New Offline mode.
  • Could have some more options to use on cards - sometimes creative thinking is required.
  • Some other tools are way ahead in terms of swim lanes etc.
  • Some features come across as a little too playful in parts of the company.
Any kind of task management works great with Trello as the flexibility is there to shape the board to fit individual needs. Maybe less suited to ticket management (one of our use cases) as customizing to the particular dataset required would have been difficult, and some manual steps would have been required. That's more an issue for the organization rather than Trello, though.

Trello is used to track individual employees' major work items whether they are projects or project tasks. We also use Trello to track open items in complex individual work-streams where there are multiple groups involved. Both of these uses allow visibility to the work being performed for resource managers as well as work-stream owners in an Agile-type usage.
  • Ease of use both on the desktop as well as the mobile apps. No loss of functionality on the mobile apps.
  • Very visual and easy to scan through the items on the 'boards' very quickly.
  • Role-based security makes it easy to display only what individual users need.
  • Needs additional flexibility and functionality to be used as a full-fledged product management tool.
  • Great for Agile usage but not set up for a Waterfall methodology.
Managing work-streams with multiple users and many sub-tasks involved is a huge advantage in our department. In an ever-fluid environment on a fast-moving project, it is a great tool. As previously stated, if you want to use it in a Waterfall environment it will struggle and adoption is more difficult.

Our entire agency uses Trello in a number of different ways both on a company-wide basis and on a department and team-basis mostly as a project management tool.

Internally, our interactive services team uses Trello as a way of giving the entire company visibility into the projects they are currently working on and where they are at in the creative process. On a client-facing front, our marketing services team uses Trello boards for each client to give them visibility into the deliverables due to them within a time period, who is executing them, when they are due and where they are at in the process.

Ultimately, Trello provided us a free PM tool that gave us an extremely flexible platform to create company, department and client-specific boards that gave everyone involved (including clients) better visibility into what our agency is working on in a less confusing format than other PM tools we've used in the past.
  • Extremely easy to use. Even for non-tech savvy users, the visual drag and drop functionality makes it very easy for almost anyone to pick up quickly.
  • Easy to customize. Within its board framework, Trello makes it very easy for you to customize how you use the tool so that it fits exactly what you need.
  • Continuous improvements being made. Trello does a great job of listening to their users and building out new tools and use cases for their platform so that people can get exactly what they need out of it.
  • Growing number of paid features. As with any growing freemium platforms, Trello is increasingly adding more and more paid features that can be a little annoying to long time users of the free versions. Still, it's nothing too expensive and they haven't gated a ton of stuff that you can't live without.
  • Missing some PM-specific stuff. Since we use Trello as a PM tool, there are still some things that don't fully transfer from a more traditional tool (like Basecamp or Asana). These include things like automatically checking a task completed and having it move elsewhere (you can't do this in Trello without some major integrations).
Trello is really suited well for just about anything thanks to its open framework. We've found great success with it as a PM tool but I've also used it personally to plan a vacation (different columns for different places being visited, a card for each day that has an itinerary, etc.) and keep track of my different life roles and goals. The only thing it might not be well suited for is if you're looking for a tool that is going to do anything in an automated fashion. Trello is more of a manual thing (outside of its integrations) so if you're looking for automation you may need to look harder at the tool than you would if you're just looking for a simple tool.

We use Trello in the marketing and consulting practice to keep track of initiatives and high-level project direction.
  • Keep track of objectives
  • Keep track of task and to do list
  • Ease of use with drag and drop of cards
Excellent tool for providing a top down view of the various parts of your goals, projects, or tasks.
