TriNet is our Human Resources partner for our entire company. It allows our employees to have 24/7 access to their earnings statements, medical benefits, time off, tax information, etc., through the website or phone app. As an employee, it helps me stay organized. As part of the human resources support staff, it helps me guide employees to the information they need quickly and easily.
  • Provides easy access to earnings statements.
  • Allows direct deposits to be sent to up to 5 different accounts.
  • Has detailed medical insurance information - policy numbers, which family members are covered, etc.
  • Easy report customization and access for support staff.
  • Provides laws/policies for all states where we have employees.
  • At times it can hard to schedule a phone call with the company support specialists.
Our company has employees based throughout the United States. TriNet's ability to provide reasonably priced health plans for different regions gives our employees access to better plans than we could provide on our own as a small business. TriNet also makes sure employment laws for the various states are followed.

We use TriNet across our whole organization for payroll and expense processing services as well as benefits management. Onboarding new employees is an intuitive and efficient process. The ability to download all payroll and expense data helps to streamline the recording of the information into the accounting records of our organization. Employees can easily manage their own withholding elections and benefits selections online. In short, TriNet has made these HR processes easier for smaller companies that currently do not have the expertise to handle these tasks in-house.
  • Benefits selection.
  • Payroll processing.
  • Employee onboarding.
  • Listening to feedback from their clients to implement change as shown by their newly created TriNet Financial Services Preferred Support Team.
  • Easier custom reporting features. It would be helpful to have explanations of the various data points available in the reporting module. Some of the naming conventions are not intuitive so we need to use trial and error when creating a custom report.
TriNet is well suited for smaller organizations that have a lean organizational team. It provides small businesses with the ability to offer competitive benefits packages which aids in attracting top talent. Overall, it is a streamlined solution to the administration of various HR services where in-house expertise is not cost-effective.

We use TriNet as an HRIS system for payroll, benefits, HR questions, etc. We had an old-school way of all paperwork and TriNet has been incredibly helpful with onboarding, departures, running payroll, tricky HR questions, and more. Having everything all in one location for the Company to access and all employees to access has really lessened the headache.
  • Payroll.
  • Onboarding/Departures.
  • Live Chat.
  • Benefits.
  • Live chat times you out too quickly after you've been waiting a long time to speak to someone.
  • Sometimes not all of the Reps are on the same page with their answers, so you will get a lot of back and forth.
  • Hard to get ahold of your designated TriNet Rep.
TriNet is great for HRIS systems - payroll, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, tricky HR questions, etc. They could work on their Live Chat time-out times, having your designated Rep get back to you quicker, training all TriNet employees so that they are all on the same page and can provide the correct information.

TriNet is being used by our complete organization.
  • Payroll.
  • Human Resources input.
  • Department of Labor state-specific standards.
  • Less hold time on the 1-800 help line.
  • Quicker response time overall.
TriNet is well suited for companies that aren't too small. It's better suited for mid-size companies and employees who want to take advantage of the insurance benefits offered by TriNet. We are a small company and no one has taken advantage of the benefits since there was no need.

Being used by our U.S. and Puerto Rico locations - it allows for us to easily manage remote workers in many states - they take on the heavy admin lifting for us.
  • Set up new states
  • Their platform and mobile app
  • Maintaining compliance
  • Easy payroll process
  • Educated support for us to make informed decisions.
  • Lack of access or visibility to processes with their 3rd parties impacting our employees, disability, life insurance and more.
  • Benefits are not customizable enough to meet the needs of our organization -the benefits process in general.
I would have given TriNet a 10/10 years 2015-2018. 2019-present they have changed and caused our business operations to suffer. Our size has grown, and maybe TriNet should have a limit on client size if they cannot properly support or make client growth effective.

We use it for payroll services, medical benefits (med, eye and dental), 401k, STD, LTD & workmen's comp. It is used for all of our 9 employees.
  • Lower renewal medical costs.
  • Tri-Net newsletter of HR & other applicable changes nationwide.
  • Easy sign on for website.
  • Access/availability of my Payroll specialist. Unable to quickly and timely communicate with my POC when needed.
  • The Benefits Dept and the Payroll Dept do not interface as quickly as they should for changes with employee benefits. If a change is entered onto the website an employee or I should not have to "ensure" the change has taken place and also have to alert the Payroll specialist either. It defeats going online and entering changes if you have to alert people to the changes that the system "accepted".
  • If a credit is made to an employees benefits - this should be a separate line item than the regular benefit line so that credits are easily and quickly identifiable.
Well suited for obtaining medical benefits at a lower cost due to larger numbers of companies utilizing Tri-Net which is passed on to companies (clients). Well suited for bundling benefits, insurance, workmen's comp and 401k for companies to offer to their employees. Well suited in staying abreast and communicating to clients different state laws that affect employment and employees rights and benefits. Need better accessibility of clients to reach their TriNet POC.

TriNet is used by the entire company to track time off, pay our employees, and manage our Benefits. Trinet helps us immensely in our payroll procedures and paying all our employees via direct deposits. They also make it easier to be a completely remote company by being able to pay through the states correctly and comply with all the different state regulations.
  • Communicates well.
  • Greatly supports.
  • Easy to navigate.
  • Easier way to track time.
  • Do alerts to remind managers to approve time.
TriNet is well suited for a company that doesn't have a full blown payroll department.

Powers the business's success and promotes its growth and innovation with the help of an extraordinary HR. Ports time tracking data directly into the system to cut down on time importing data. Provides an easy way to calculate hours, benefits, payroll, taxes and more to give employees greater visibility into each paycheck.
  • Cuts down on errors and ensures mistakes are caught and fixed efficiently.
  • Preparation of reports for workers' compensation and more.
  • Monitoring workplace safety guidelines.
  • Secure payroll preparation.
  • Employee and contractor time tracking.
  • Not enough control available for the system administrator
  • Hard to use
Relieves the company administrative burden associated with HR, helps contain HR costs, and minimizes employer-related risk. TriNet may be hard to use but it's an empowering solution offering additional cloud products and strategic services.

HR questions, payroll, and insurance across the whole organization. TriNet addresses those three things.
  • Communication for questions I have, specifically on an administrative level.
  • The variety and choice of health insurance.
  • The website platform is informative and useful.
  • Maybe on the website it would be helpful for the employee to be able to know who to contact, and for what, right away instead of trying to search for it
  • The pop-ups for reports, and when I go to other pages, I don't love.
It's perfect for not having in house HR and getting better insurance rates, although it's still a little pricey.

We are a TriNet PEO client since 2016 in California.
Starting in Nov, 2020, we have been experiencing major service declines with TriNet. A lot more time and multiple follow-ups are required to work with TriNet PEO/ Payroll services.
  1. TriNet no longer assigns Payroll or HR specialist to a client. All questions, issues, problems, and errors that were made by either TriNet or Client can only be resolved by emailing TriNet Connect which is a general email or calling their general 1800 phone #.
  2. There is no continuity for problem solving. Each time I called or email, a different person is handling the email or call. Multiple case # were created for the follow-up of the same case.
  3. Even when a payroll batch was submitted, if there is a problem, you can only send to the general email address or call the general line to get the problem resolved. This is significant dysfunction in TriNet service. As a result, our payroll and deductions may not be processed correctly on time.
  4. It takes several days and contacts for TriNet to resolve a problem. Very rarely, problems were resolved in less than 3 email contacts.
  5. After several phone calls and email reporting problems, TriNet assigned an account manager to us. However, the account manager never responded back by email or phone call after his initial introduction.
I sincerely hope TriNet's PEO/ Payroll service can be restored to its pre-2021 level.

I cannot overstate how much I regret engaging TriNet. As a solo practitioner/S-corp, I used them for payroll and for healthcare benefits. Initially, they charged abt $70/person/payroll, in line with industry standards. Their reporting formats are mediocre, but it was fine for the price. Without proper notice, TriNet increased fees for all companies under 5 people by assessing a minimum $750 fee - the rate for 5-person companies. Rather than being above-board and advising small companies that they no longer wished to service them, there was no outreach to companies or warning, only an email discussing a payroll rate increase to just under $75/person with a small notice elsewhere of a new minimum rate, which you'd have to know to look for. They violated the trust placed in them as a fiduciary with direct access to corporate bank accounts and dipped into company's accounts to pay themselves more for no material change in services. Any company under 25 people should avoid TriNet. Should TriNet decide such companies are insufficiently profitable, at any time they might make large unauthorized withdrawals to scale up their fees without notice. Time for AG action.
  • Withdraws money.
  • Provides access to PPO healthcare.
  • Non-transparent fee changes without notice or consent.
  • Reporting formats are mediocre.
  • Bad response times for inquiries / poor customer service.
  • Don't honor annual contract amounts.
Might be decent for larger companies. Would avoid at all costs if a smaller company. They are not transparent regarding fees. The initial contract was annual for the period November - October. They increased fees by over 400% mid-contract year in 2021 after 2 years of using their services. Feels like a bait and switch. Definitely a violation of the trust placed in them when providing direct access to corporate bank accounts.

TriNet is beneficial for small companies like ourselves, we use it for our payroll process and benefits. Our team is happy and satisfied using it across the company. It also manages employee in and out time, along with the actual productive hours. Attendance can be taken care. It also has an interface wherein we can run reports to check with our managers and superiors.
  • Payroll process.
  • Attendance.
  • Easy to use.
  • Benefit management.
  • Slow response onsite.
  • Customization use.
It is best served for a small organization like us, as HR processes are taken care and we get time to deal with other things and make it more productive.

We implemented Trinet in early 2020 for our benefits and payroll. It has been an unmitigated disaster from Day 1 with a flawed implementation, clunky software, and non-existent customers service. It addresses no business solutions other than cost-effective benefits. We have had to hire an HR consultant solely to deal with Trinet, wait on hold for hours and send numerous e-mails for the most simple issues.
  • Cost-effective benefit solutions
  • Customer service is non-existent; you will be on hold for hours and your e-mails never get answered.
  • You e-mail a customer service "pool" called Connect360 (not a rep), and it is like a bridge to nowhere.
  • Clunky software and interface; HR changes sometimes take weeks to get updated in payroll.
  • Time and attendance system that does not integrate with your payroll.
  • Executive management that does not care about customers; no response from their SVP "Customer Experience" when e-mailed.
  • Does not integrate with third party 401k providers.
  • EVERY issue needs to be escalated, even the most simple pay change.
  • When you hear from customer service, they give you no means of reaching the same person.
I cannot think of a single scenario in which I would recommend Trinet. Their lack of customer service and clunky software actually gets worse by the day. When we started with Trinet, we at least had a dedicated customer service person, but they moved to a "pool." Contacting their customer service is like talking to a wall or trying to catch a cloud, but more frustrating.

TriNet offers a combination of payroll management, tax documentation and benefits administration for the APS marketing team. Their approach delivers a turn key, hands off solution to functions that typically require separate staffing resources.
  • Payroll administration
  • Benefit administration
  • Tax documentation
  • Mobile app ease of use
  • Ability for employees to easily access benefit cards on mobile app
  • 1 step tax reporting details for government stimulus payments
My teams have depended on TriNet through 4 start ups and 15 years of business. When I was starting up my newest venture, TriNet was the first place I turned for support. I did a comparative review too and TriNet scored quite well. Four years later, I'd take the same action and hire TriNet.

We utilize TriNet for all of our part-time and full-time employees across the entire organization. We engage them for the majority of our human resource needs such as employee surveys, benefits management, payroll, employee handbook, manager training, employee training, COVID-19 resources, and new government labor law updates for federal and local alike.
  • Employee & manager training
  • Benefits management
  • Payroll
  • Shorter wait times for calling in for service.
  • Payroll interface can be a little confusing.
  • More training programs/videos on using the platform as a whole.
Overall, TriNet has really made life easier for onboarding, training, and various other human resource needs. I very much appreciate the webinars on current labor laws and DE&I trainings. The only thing I wish there was more of is training videos or webinars on the platform itself, especially the reporting tool.

We utilize TriNet for HR Solutions - they provide our company with benefits, HR/employee relations support, payroll services, worker's compensation, etc. We utilize the HR Passport solution and love it. Every employee is able to access HR Passport for earnings statements, benefit information, leave requests, time card entry - single sign on, easy to use, mostly paper free. HR and Accounting utilize it for payroll, reporting, etc.
  • Their HR Passport platform is great - very easy to use- our employees love it. Single sign on everything in one place for employees.
  • TriNet manages our leaves of absences very well. Takes on the administrative burden of providing proper notification to employees and tracking of leaves
  • Benefits - TriNet allows us to offer a wide variety of benefit options - as a smaller organization we would be limited to just a few medical choices, but with TriNet our employees are given the choice of 14 plans with 2 carriers. TriNet handles the new enrollment process (all online) as well as the open enrollment process.
  • Proactive communication when a process changes. Sometime we find out that a process has changed when we try to do something, but not before.
  • On the payroll side, there are times where they don't follow the instructions we request in the notes. Thankfully, we ask for a payroll register/pre process to review prior to approval which allows us to correct errors prior to processing.
  • In December they changed from a relationship model (you have a specific representative) to a 360 model (you submit an email, call or chat) for assistance. The response times were not good. They have since changed us back to a relationship model which was much appreciated.
TriNet is well suited for a smaller organization - the support they provide is really quite good.

If an organization has their own special benefits plans, i.e. deferred compensation that TriNet didn't "write," sometimes it can be a bit cumbersome to implement within the TriNet system.

We are a small business and so TriNet's offerings of large employer benefits was appealing to us. We ended up saving money by switching to them. I also like the fact that when we have a situation in the workplace that needs counsel, I have been able to reach out to TriNet and they take the time to research and get back to me in a reasonable time.
  • Offers many benefit options for employees.
  • Assigns a dedicated Account Manager.
  • Providing employers with up-to-date information on labor trends and laws.
  • Easy for employees to get the answers they need instead of always having to go to HR.
  • The app. The are adding some admin features but I would like to be able to do more.
  • The ability to customize the dashboard. The ability to see employee birthdays.
  • As an administrator, when I log in, I want to have it default to the admin/manager tab. It would be a nice feature since that it typically the tab I always go to.
  • The ability for employees to congratulate others on promotions, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
After being with TriNet for a year, I can see how they have helped us as a small business. Even though I know that we are not a large revenue producing company for them, they don't treat us any different. I get the same support as I would get if we were a multi-billion dollar company.

We currently use TriNet as our HR resource. We utilize it for our HRIS system as well as payroll. We have also utilized services from TriNet such as dealing with separations and other HR related requests. The company utilizes the platform to pick and manage their benefits as well as internally to track any HR related activity for employees such and promotions and pay changes.
  • Payroll.
  • Human resources.
  • HR compliance.
  • Pricing caps year over year.
For a company of our size (>50) TriNet has been very helpful. They help facilitate areas where you would normally need a full time hire. Being part of a larger group also allows us to tap into discounts on the benefits front. Employees enjoy having many options when it comes to benefits and allows us to be competitive in the hiring market.

TriNet is our PEO. Belonging to TriNet allows us to offer superior products/benefits to our employees at a reasonable cost. These products would otherwise be impossible or totally unaffordable to offer our employees.
  • Tracks PTO for each employee.
  • Offers a variety of health insurance plans.
  • Offers a wide variety of affordable auxiliary insurance plans for individuals.
  • Has retirement planning services.
  • Complete and detailed payroll with individual logins.
  • Ease of access to W-2's.
  • They recently transitioned from individual customer service reps to a broader service model. Not quite the same personal service.
  • They are so large that you can get bounced around until you find the right department.
  • The Hiring module is great - except for when you have an individual applying for multiple jobs within your organization. You have to dig into their file a bit to find the specific evaluation for that position.
It is ideal for small organizations!! Even larger orgs, as few would have the purchasing power in the insurance market as TriNet.

We are a small company who utilizes TriNet for the purchasing power on benefits package. We run payroll and all benefits through TriNet.
  • Benefit choice.
  • Quick response time when/if issues arise.
  • Reporting.
  • Ease of use.
  • I would like if there was an option for payroll entry in the mobile app.
  • While reporting is good, I would like if it was easier to customize some of my own reports/information.
Large pool/choice of benefits for my employees, ease of use on the website and mobile app, and having a dedicated rep to go to with any questions/needs who is always responsive.
