TriNet is used across the whole organization primarily for payroll and benefits. Being part of this PEO allows us to access better health insurance rates than we were able to obtain with a broker as a small business.
  • Offers a wide array of choices of benefits at extremely competitive rates.
  • Provides reporting that is customizable and useful across the organization for human resources, accounting and C-suite decision making.
  • Changes that affect payroll have to be submitted in a different screen 3 days before payroll submission (such as pay rates and tax withholding).
  • Some service reps have to be reminded to answer requests rather than staying on top of things.
  • Would like to see more topics covered in the online training resources for employees.
TriNet is an asset to small businesses who would like to offer their employees the type of benefits and technology that are available at larger firms. It also gives a smaller company access to the full spectrum of human resources knowledge and services when there is not a dedicated and well-trained HR department available in their organization.

We use TriNet for new employee on-boarding including background checks, for payroll, and for benefits. We are a small company without an HR professional and appreciate having a company that can provide these services.
  • New employee on-boarding is smooth and TriNet drives the process.

  • I really don't have any suggestions for improvement in the services that we use.

Trinet is our PEO and handles multiple aspects across the whole organization, including processing payroll, terminations, 401k and other employee related items. It currently helps us manage the employee side of the organization providing ease regarding benefits, 401k and many tax and payroll questions.
  • Excellent customer service. Our rep, Donna Pease, is amazing and I feel extremely confident that when a situation arises and a TriNet employee states that it will be taken care of, it will be and in a timely manner with clear communication.
  • A smooth payroll process and upload, taking care of payroll related issues and processing is extremely simple using their dashboard. If intervention is needed it is always resolved quickly.
  • Always up to date on the latest employment and state laws so that terminations and taxes are taken care of quickly and accurately, without incurring penalties.
  • Never have to wait to reach someone! And even when I want to speak to a specific person that is not available at that moment, it is a short wait before they are getting back with me. Superb communication.
  • Reporting capabilities could be improved. For example, the ability to copy custom made reports to other users.
Processing payroll and terminations has been a breeze since using TriNet, they make it a seamless process.

Employees can view most anything from their own payroll to benefits. It is, for the most part, easy for them to access and keep up with PTO or to change things such as marital status.
  • Managing employees by department or location is easy.
  • Changing employee from one job to another takes less time.
  • Finding employee pay history or time off is also a great benefit.
  • The only thing I would say is a little more detailed training videos for management to access so they can learn even more about the benefits of using TriNet.
TriNet is pretty easy to use. There are some things I have not yet utilized and look forward to doing so. Working with new hires on TriNet has made things much easier and everything is in one place from the forms to I-9s. I have had to change marital status and pay raises here and it was tricky the first time but once you use it, it is a breeze.

We use Trinet as part of our payroll services for one of our accounting clients.
  • Customer Service - I am able to get someone online or on the phone when I need them.
  • Compliance - we have never had an issue with payroll tax or other employment compliance issue.
  • Ease of Use - the default payroll option makes regular payroll cycles very easy.
  • Reporting - While the reports contain the relevant information, they are awkward to pull from the website (especially in PDF). It takes a lot of clicks and scrolling to get a single report.
  • Update: They are rolling out revisions to their website, so I am excited to see if they have made improvements to the reporting
  • Website navigation - it may be that I do not spend very much time on the site, but the website does not seem intuitive to me and I find myself "exploring" a lot before I find the screen I want.
It is well suited for the "payroll in a box" solution to offer straightforward salaried payroll and benefits in one place. I think that, if I had a payroll that changed often (hourly or commissioned employees) I would find the interface less appealing.

The entire organization uses TriNet. TriNet helps us to solve payroll, benefits availability and administration (this is crucial for us), supports our hiring and firing processes, and has assisted us with compliance across multiple states where we have remote workers.

I've had success with TriNet for early-stage companies that need the HR function taken care of so that they can hire quickly and provide solid benefits options to their employees. TriNet is expensive, so the stage of the company needs to be right.

We use Trinet for payroll services, compliance, and benefits administration. It's being used across our entire organization. We selected TriNet because we were seeking to offer our employees competitive health benefits. We had been using another payroll provider prior to signing on with TriNet but did not offer benefits at that time.
  • With TriNet, our employees have access to a very wide selection of health care plans.
  • The TriNet team is very responsive when we have questions.
  • The online tools are easy to use.
  • As a nonprofit organization, we have compliance needs that are specific to our sector which TriNet does not address.
  • Our health care plan year starts in October (based on when we signed up with TriNet) making it difficult for employees to switch plans as deductibles and maximums are based on the calendar year.
  • Health care rates have gone up significantly.
  • Monthly fees are more expensive than other PEOs.
TriNet is well suited to small companies who want to offer their employees lots of benefit choices.

It is being used to address handling payroll and all other benefits including health, disability, 401k, etc. Overall it reduces employer benefit cost. The customer service is very helpful, they resolve employee issues with minor help from us. They helped us in setting up payroll, 401k, health, and disability insurances. Implementing all HR processes was very detailed, including good customized reporting if needed.

We are a private equity firm with a portfolio of tech companies. We use TriNet for the PE team, not our portfolio companies. We currently have a team of 10, we will be at 12 by the end of the year. We use TriNet to manage our payroll and benefits.
  • The employee dashboard allows employees to manage their HR needs and provides valuable resources.
  • Benefits - We are very happy with United Healthcare and the plan we are offered.
  • The admin dashboard is nice - I like being able to manage the HR process online and not having to contact the rep for everything.
  • The benefits selection process within the app is still a little confusing. It's not intuitive and after 4 years I still get confused and have to ask for help. More specifically, I have to select several items before I find the place to enter new rates. And even then, I'm not confident things were done correctly when I submit my changes for the upcoming year.
TriNet works really well for our company. Our HR needs aren't complicated so the service is what matters. Having a dedicated account manager is helpful and the response time is quick. The dashboard gives employees independence and they can update info and ask questions on their own instead of coming to me. We really like that feature. Fortunately, we haven't had any negative experiences with TriNet or our service.

TriNet is our HR and Payroll provider. We use services across the company. As a small company - the ease of use is an important aspect of the value prop as we are engaged on building a business, TriNet addresses an important need while also freeing up executive time.

  • Allowing for access to high quality healthcare through the size of the combined company/users on the platform.
  • I find the dashboard could be more intuitive - particularly n making changes to employees.
  • The report capability UI/UX needs to be improved. Simple reports are difficult to get out of the system for users that are not too familiar with the platform....simplify!
Very well suited for small companies that do not have the size to justify a full time HR rep.

I used Adminstaff and Insperity and TriNet the last year and I find it more user-friendly than the others. We use it for our current executives and Qwil for all of our Contractors. I have an Offsite CFO in Florida and we are in California and this system has made it so easy to have that flexibility. I enjoy using the system and I haven't seen any problems. The Staff of Kimberly Horton has made all new processes so so easy. I just referred them to a division of DMS in Florida for those reasons.
  • Payroll can be done anywhere at any time. I travel a lot and processing Payroll is made easy.
  • Health benefits were easy to choose and a great selection of providers.

Trinet is currently our PEO, processing our payroll under their EIN. they are taking care of our health insurance workers comp and filing our taxes.
  • They have a very friendly user website.
  • Lots of detailed reports.
  • They offer great policies.
  • They don't reply to emails as quickly as I would expect from such a company.
I think they are very well suited for payroll, this is what we are using them right now so I wouldn't know more.

Trinet is our PEO and is used by the entire organization. It is the portal used by employees for all HR related activities. The organization uses it for personnel information, payroll processing, workforce analytics, benefits administration, etc.
  • Workforce analytics has evolved and improved, now offering more comprehensive reports.
  • Trinet staff provides stellar customer service.
  • An excellent resource when I need to verify employment laws and best practices for handling difficult employee-related situations.
  • The website has improved in 2019. I would like to see a continual progression in this manner.
  • Professional fees are becoming a bit steep for a smaller sized business. Fee structures should be revisited for the under 50 employee small businesses.
Just think professional fee structures are high for the smaller business sizes. This should be addressed and improved. Excellent PEO source for small & medium-sized businesses to manage payroll and all human resources activities within the business. A good source for guidance on HR laws and regulations, as well as multi-state legal differences.

We use Trinet across the whole organization. We are a small business and it allows us to free up our time and resources by handling many of our HR/payroll needs.
  • Onboarding: extremely easy to hire.
  • Payroll deductions: we have had a couple of employees in other states and the service allows us not to have to learn about the rules and nuances in every state.
  • Vacation tool
  • The website could be a little more streamlined. It is sometimes hard to find what I'm looking for and I will have to call our rep.
It is a great service for a small business as it really takes care of payroll and helps us buy into healthcare programs that we might not be able to get without TriNet.

  • Even though they tend to change team members frequently, they all seemed to be trained well.
  • TriNet portal is a one-stop-shop in terms of information.
  • Be more competitive on benefit renewals. We have had to negotiate for something each year. As a small company, this has been a little frustrating.
  • Not quite sure why there are frequent changes in support personnel.
If looking for a one-stop-shop for benefits and payroll, this is one of the best.

  • When we transitioned to TriNet, it was in the middle of the year, and we had some glitches with tax issues. It would have been helpful for TriNet to tell us what to pay attention to during the transition.
  • Have a FAQ/checklist on the web site for each step.
  • Have the rep periodically reach out via email during a less-busy time to ask: anything we can help with? Any questions?
TriNet was ideal for our scenario: a small startup with an inexperienced CEO and COO, needing a comprehensive web-based HR solution that spanned states and countries.

TriNet is an integral part of our small business as it has enabled us to successfully outsource our HR and payroll processing needs. It is a small group, but TriNet provides payroll and benefit solutions for our entire organization.
  • Point of access (information hub) for both me as an administrator as well as each employee.
  • TriNet replaces the need for dedicated HR staff as our firm grows.
  • TriNet provides access to healthcare plans that would otherwise be unavailable to our small firm.
  • TriNet provides a breadth of knowledge in the HR/payroll arena.
  • As some users are light users, quick access reporting or a summary dashboard would be useful. We have a limited use scenario but value the information.
TriNet is well suited to address the needs/concerns of a startup company, but may see decreasing functionality as a fund grows.

We use it to administer our employee payroll, track time off, benefits and HR issues. We are able to call for legal advice regarding employee problems and proper termination strategies. Benefits administration is made quite easy through the website.
  • Time tracking system is extremely user-friendly and a very helpful tool for us.
  • If we call with employee related problems, TriNet works with us on how best to position our firm to avoid any issues.
  • Payroll processing every other week is easy and reliable.
  • The reporting system can sometimes be temperamental.
I am extremely happy with our decision to stay on the TriNet platform and take advantage of its offerings to the firm and our employees.

TriNet is being used by our entire US-based organization. We use TriNet for our payroll, benefits and compliance matters. Being an HR department of one, TriNet also serves as an extension of human resources.

  • Customization of separation agreement letters. Sometimes the standard letters don't fit every situation.
My experience so far with TriNet as a solution has made me a satisfied customer. I have and will continue to recommend them to fellow HR professionals. I'm happy with the customer service and issue resolution when situations occur. I find their benefits rates to be very competitive with multiple options. The have recently made some updates to the look and feel of their system which have improved the functionality and ease of usage.

BlueStar Inspections usesTriNet for all of our payroll function and helps us administer benefits. Our HR department uses TriNet and every employee uses it for information regarding their pay and benefits. It helps us to be efficient and accurate with payroll and benefits and ensures we conform to legal requirements.
  • Excellent payroll processing tool.
  • Excellent payroll reminder/calendar tool.
  • Well designed website and dashboard which is intuitive to navigate.
  • Excellent customer service and availability when issues arise.
  • Random phone calls from customer service reps just checking in to see how things are going would be a good touch.
  • It seems once you are established and stabilized with TriNet there is less personal contact.
  • It would be nice to add a note next to payroll special payment entries like additional allowances so that you can make a note of what they are for.
They are by far the best quality HR solutions company I have worked with. They really help companies where managers wear a lot of different hats by taking this function largely off of their plate other than data entry.

They are expensive which could be difficult for a start-up company to afford.

They are excellent with compliance issues. We work in several states, and all requirements are handled seamlessly.

TriNet is being used by our entire operations in the USA. We use it for payroll and some of our growing Human Resource needs.
  • Response time to issues is quick and usually resolved in a satisfactory manner.
  • Access to benefits is a plus. Benefit options are varied and we would not be able to get this many options on our own.
  • I would like to see the timesheet used to be replaced or improved. It's very problematic. It's hard to save hours. Also, it does not properly sync. It's caused numerous issues including employees being paid late.
  • I would like to see TriNet offer cheaper options for medical benefits.
I like the fact that TriNet has access to immigration attorneys. The attorneys have been a huge help as we navigate hiring employees who need Visas or Green Cards. Also, TriNet has served us well by having payroll, benefits, and HR under the same umbrella. I would like to see TriNet expanded to include Independent contractors (not the third-party service they use) on payroll. Also, to provide their W-2s.

It is being used across the whole organization for all HR capabilities (Payroll and Benefits).
  • Customer Service is excellent.
  • Portal is easy to use.
  • The team is extremely knowledgeable.
  • Reports are not as user-friendly as I'd like them to be.
Our office is small and does not have a designated HR department. TriNet fills that gap for us.
