We are a small company and use TriNet accross the whole company for payroll and benefits. TriNet has addressed many issues for us. It has addressed the issue of having employees in multiple states and the administration that causes. TriNet has given us the ability to offer our employees benefits similar to what large companies offer so we can attract top talent and make sure our employees have the best possible health care. It has reduced our workers comp rates.
  • Benefits - TriNet has a huge selection of benefits that are offered to the employees at reasonable rates. They do a wonderful job at the administration of the benefits and offer great training and resources to educate everyone on what is offered.
  • New Hire Process - It is so easy to on board a new employee.
  • Payroll - The payroll entry portal is so quick and easy to use.
  • Support - They have wonderful support for both the company and the employees. I like that they give options to either call or email. The reps are friendly and knowledgeable.
  • Termination - I find the process to terminate an employee a little confusing. It would be nice if they had a video the manager could watch to help walk them through the process.
  • Time Off Dashboard - This is really not a big deal but I wish the time off dashboard would show the available hours instead of the estimated balance.
  • It would be nice if they would rearrange how they show the available time. (Accrued Hours - Taken Hours = Available Hours - Planned Hours = Estimated Balance)
I have already recommended TriNet to others. It is great for smaller companies because it takes away a lot of the administration of payroll and benefits. It helps because it gives us smaller companies an edge so we can market our benefits to attract top talent.

We utilize TriNet for our US entity employee. Payroll and benefits are fully transacted thru TriNet who administers the US state and federal governances for payroll and benefit reporting functions. This has created such an ease where we have had no knowledge base to build from.

We use it across the organization. We are a startup and having a PEO like TriNet allows us to focus on growing and cultivating program specific positions instead of administrative positions. It also allows us to focus on key items core to our strategy instead of being burdened with administrative tasks.
  • It's a one-stop shop for benefits administration, time tracking, payroll, and HR compliance.
  • Time off management is easy and intuitive.
  • They do an excellent job of staying on top of any compliance items that are relevant to your business. The follow up is prompt and relevant.
  • They very literally have two different versions of their website. Neither work quite well enough on their own you have to toggle back between the beta version of the new look and feel and the old version to get things done.
  • Some of their client support staff are better than others. They could stand to have a more consistent client experience.
I think it's well-suited if you're a small business or startup and want to focus on core business strategies and not get bogged down stringing together multiple HR, Payroll, and Benefits systems. If you're an established well-matrixed organization, then this may not be the product/service for you.

In 2015, one of our Executives brought in a marketing flyer describing TriNet's services, as a Professional Employee Organization, with thousands of employees, and they offered great services. So, I had to schedule an appointment to find out more!

Our company was mainly interested in reducing employee insurance costs, and finding an on-line HR service with a "one-stop" shop, and fortunately, TriNet offers all HR tools for our entire organization. We have an overseas office, and implementing the service was easily streamlined. By utilizing TriNet our employee benefit costs decreased, and that was my main concern.

Our company utilizes TriNet's on-line payroll platform for; new hires and current employees, maintaining Form I-9's, payroll processing, payroll and custom reporting, Quarterly/Year-end tax reporting, government tax payments, on-line approval of vacation and sick time benefits, custom reporting, and accrual balances for vacation and sick time. They offer the ability to upload Company Forms, Polices and most importantly the Employee Handbook.

TriNet's group health, life, vision, and dental insurance plans, allows the employee to select a variety of carriers, offering HMO and PPO, with all levels of Employer and Employee costs to select from.

Our company also utilizes their on-line Expense Reimbursement module, and once the expenses are approved on-line, the employee is reimbursed via payroll. We also manage our Corporate credit cards through TriNet, as well.

TriNet is a fantastic company, with timely and responsive customer service, with a great product, and you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend TriNet !
  • Customer service and training. TriNet has a sophisticated platform, and their training personnel do a wonderful job ensuring that the platform fits your company's needs and or requirements.
  • Group Employee Insurance Benefits. Our company appreciates the variety of Insurance Carriers; whereby the employee can select, and the Employer is able to select a cost limit under each carrier. The program will immediately let the employee know what costs they are required to pay, if any.
  • Payroll Platform. The new Beta program is efficient, and once you become familiar with what TriNet offers, you will be amazed.
  • Expense Reimbursement. Our employees use the Expense reimbursement module with ease. The employer has the ability to approve or reject the expense reports, if there is a missing receipt or a correction, etc. Our company has set up general ledger coding in the expense program, so running reports and creating journals is great.
  • The Special Pay function costs a bit extra when using, however, it's a great function offered for special pay bonuses, or special situations.
Our group Insurance rates decreased and saving on expenses is at the forefront. Managing expense reports, and payroll for offices worldwide.

It is being used by the organization and we became customers to solve the ACA cost problem. It is really only used to manage healthcare benefits and payroll.
  • Customer Service, I always have an answer right away.
  • Costs are high and there should be some sort of scale based on the use of the service.
  • Additionally, we were under the impression that our healthcare benefits were being rated based on all of TriNet's employees, after year one we learned that was not the case at all we were being rated as the group of four that subscribe to to healthcare.
TriNet is well suited if you do not want to deal with payroll or a payroll service and you are looking for a good healthcare solution. It is not suited to a large company with more than 100 employees where HR infrastructure exists.

We are a UK company and TriNet has been a key part of the company's plan in moving to the US market. TriNet is currently used by our US staff and UK managers of that staff and TriNet has helped us get to grips with the expectation of hiring US staff.
  • TriNet's benefits offering to employees are fantastic and gives our employees a range of benefit that our company could not offer alone.
  • The support we received from TriNet on a day to basis has been incredibly useful. My HR Consultant is always on hand to answer my questions.
  • TriNet has done a lot to upgrade their platform, which was very much needed. The current platform is far superior than it was.
TriNet is great if you are a young or small business who cannot offer the benefits and expertise of a larger company, I would certainly recommend it for UK companies moving into the US. Once a company is established and grown it may become suitable to provide the service in-house as you would have more choices of HR software.

TriNet is our payroll and HR service for the whole company. It helps us to get better insurance rates and plans for our employees. It automated our HR new hire paperwork.
  • TriNet's New Hire portal is easy to use and walks you through all the new hire steps
  • The rehire process is not smooth, you have to re-input all the employees information into the system again instead of the system finding the employee and then you re-activating the person.
TriNet is well suited to small companies looking to offer lots of benefit choices.

TriNet is being used by our whole organization for HR, payroll, all health, dental, vision insurance and 401k. It provides us with better benefits selections for our employees than we could ever offer on our own, as we are a small company. This helps us to recruit and retain quality employees because we can offer these. Tracking of vacation, sick days and employee compensation is also helpful. Compliance with all tax and government regulations also frees me up to focus on other areas of my job because TriNet takes care of all that. Having a personal consultant that I can call on whenever I need to is invaluable.
  • Personal service. A consultant is always available to help whenever I need it. Consultants are always super helpful and have a good attitude.
  • Great payroll reports. Since we split our expenses between two departments, their reports make it easy for me to delineate.
  • Wide variety of benefits for employees to choose from. Many different kinds of insurance and health plans.
  • Great communication to our employees and myself as an administrator.
  • Not a fan of the new website. Hard to find things that I previously had easy access to.
  • In reviewing new benefits for the coming year, I missed having an HR specialist assigned to me. I did get access to someone, but wasn't the same.
  • Would like to have more flexibility with payroll deadlines, especially at the end of the year. Would like direct access to payroll processors.
TriNet is especially well suited to smaller companies who could not offer the great selection of benefits and HR support. Also processing of payroll and oversight of all taxes. Maybe not as applicable to much larger companies who could provide some of these things on their own for a lesser cost.

TriNet is used as a PEO for our company. We are a small company that needed assistance with a payroll platform, HR assistance and benefits packages that could be offered to our employees as a reasonable rate knowing that TriNet had expertise in all the areas needed. We utilize the handbook provided by TriNet as well as forms for employees for PTO requests and counseling requests. It is a one stop shop.
  • Customer Service - TriNet staff is knowledgeable and takes the time with you to work out any issues you may have.
  • Ease / Efficiency with the payroll input platform . The new platform is taking a little time to get use to, but once figured out it is visually more user friendly.
  • Keeping the client up to date on current payroll /HR issues and news.
  • We have two divisions and sometimes on the reports I find it difficult to determine which invoice on the drop down list belongs to which entity. Adding an identifier would be great. -- ie S0 or S1.
  • I would like to better understand the PTO calculation and have some info on how to explain to my employees. For some reason some of them are living in the past when you use to just get 1 week or 2 weeks - the whole accrual concept seems to be lost on some of them.
  • We are a small company and the increase in rate per employee is getting a little out there - but your pricing on insurance is better than we've been able to find elsewhere.
I believe that TriNet is probably a great company for mid to large companies. The pricing scales based on number of employees.
We have two entities utilizing TriNet - one with 12 employees and one with 3 and sometime it seems we could save money by maybe using a more local payroll company. We do send our payroll person to seminars on payroll/hr and notice that most of TriNet's are held in Orange County - which makes it difficult to attend.

We use TriNet as a PEO for our US employees. The TriNet team handles all payroll issues for us and provides HR advice and assistance whenever we need it. We have employees in several different states and TriNet handles that with ease.
  • TriNet's onboarding process is straightforward and very well managed. We were informed in advance about every step, received materials to help us prepare for the input we need to provide and a TriNet specialist was there every step of the way providing detailed guidance and instructions. I have had a much different experience with another PEO, so I really appreciated the extra organizational effort TriNet has put into their onboarding.
  • TriNet's online system (HR passport) saves time and effort for us and for our employees. As an IT company, we love doing everything online, even if our relationship manager is always a phone call/email away. HR Passport makes that possible for us. TriNet keeps improving it and adding features, so we can handle most payroll issues with just a few clicks.
  • Their staff is really engaged and supportive. I have communicated with TriNet staff from several different departments and every single person did a great job. All my inquiries and issues are resolved quickly and I always feel as an important customer, even though we only manage a small number of employees through them.
  • Our experience with TriNet has been great so far. We manage a small number of employees through TriNet, and I would certainly recommend them to businesseses looking to outsource their payroll.
TriNet offers a great service for businesses that want to hire employees working remotely from several different states. Formalities, compliance with the various states, paperwork, employee benefits programs - TriNet handles all this and lets us concentrate on our business.

My entire organization uses TriNet. We use it for payroll, benefits administration and requesting PTO.
  • Payroll - TriNet handles our payroll, freeing up staff time and ensuring we are in compliance with all state and federal tax requirements.
  • Benefits administration - TriNet allows us to have health, vision, dental FSA, HSA, and retirement all in one place, making it easy for our employees to manage all of their benefits.
  • Managing leave - TriNet helps us when employees need to take a leave of absence, whether it's paid, unpaid, parental, etc. They ensure payroll is set-up correctly to reflect the employee's current status.
  • Managing return from leave could be done automatically. It should be as simple as TriNet returning an individual to active status and notifying the HR administrator of the change based on the LOA form that is submitted prior to the employee's leave. Currently this is a manual process.
TriNet is well suited for a company that wants everything on one platform - payroll, benefits administration, employee information, etc. I cannot think of a scenario where it is less appropriate - perhaps for very small companies without the budget for this type of platform.

If the the assistant is very experienced and knowledgable, that will be helpful. Also, sometimes the update payroll approval is sending after trinet office hours, even there is problem on it. Still can't resolve it because the TriNet assistant is off the duty. And if we ask the other helper, they don't have authority to solve the problem.

I work with several companies to evaluate, select and implement third-party provider services for their payroll and HR needs. The companies I work with are relatively small, so they understand the value of having a partner in the field of payroll and HR. Without having to staff a department to handle these areas, they are able to invest their human capital in hiring more sales and production personnel.
  • TriNet handles all payroll processing, reporting and tax payments. These are standard functions, however in many if not most states, they report under their FEIN which eliminates the need for establishing and maintaining state unemployment and withholding tax accounts.
  • TriNet has access to multiple insurance providers and programs, so they can customize these offerings based upon the company's preferences. They are very thorough in the onboarding process to determine what those preferences are so they can make the proper recommendations.
  • TriNet has HR capabilities above and beyond what a small business owner would be able to provide. From employee handbooks, to benefit plans, to legal representation, they have experts in every situation.
  • The website is being updated, but until now I have not found it very easy to navigate.
  • It takes some training and familiarity to understand and create custom reports.
The companies I work with range from 2 to 36 employees. Some of them have employees in several states. They appreciate the resources TriNet brings to the table. Most have insurance and retirement plans through TriNet. These are not competitively priced in the open market, but are affordable through TriNet.

Human Resources uses Trinet for payroll and benefits services. It helps us with all the taxes and laws that we are not fully fluent on. From turning in I-9s, paying back expenses and paying a bonus, it has really made our lives easier.
  • Communication - Whenever we have a question it is answered that day
  • It makes the onboarding process easier
  • The site is pretty fluid as an HR user
  • Finding information can be hard on the site
  • When we hire a candidate that has used trinet before, they have to call and deal with the issue with someone at Trinet for them to actually sign on into Trinet.
  • The site sometimes takes time to load or it doesnt load at all.
It is great for startup companies that want to use a third party. From 0 - 150 employees it would make the expense worth it. Not having to worry about payroll taxes, or employer taxes, in general, is huge. When the company doesn't have enough revenue to have a big HR department Trinet is a great replacement. They really take care of a lot of background stuff that startup companies don't have the time to figure out in a short amount of time.

It's being used as our HR platform. Most employees use it to send time off request forms. I use TriNet for a lot of HR needs that come up within our organization.
  • They respond right away!
  • There are always available.
  • They are a great tool use for payroll.
  • Come up with a specific medical plan for the employees. They get confused by so many choices.
  • Have there portal site part of our internal site we are setting up so it can be part of our onboarding.
  • Maybe more discounts for services fees for using.
  • Better medical rates.

We are a small incubator. Currently we only have 10 people, but we've used TriNet on startups from 0 to 50+ people. We don't have anyone dedicated to being our HR person, so we rely on TriNet for payroll, benefits and HR aspects of running a small company.
  • The payroll page makes running payroll a snap. You can assign others to have more limited access (eg. reporting hours only, and not being able to see salary information). They set up a payroll calendar and send reminders to help you keep on track.
  • Benefits are also very very easy. Our company has great flexibility in how much we cover, and in what way (eg. pay a $ amount or a percentage), and I feel that the benefits packages offered have a wide enough range to suit most people. When it is time for employees to select their benefits, TriNet has a page where I can see who has not yet completed open enrollment, so tracking it is easy as well.
  • Hiring and firing can be a real headache, but TriNet makes it simple.
  • Running reports or creating specific reports to get information the way you want it is also a huge benefit, and the reports can be grabbed in a variety of forms such as HTML, PDF or Excel.
  • I would love the reports section to allow me to select a subset of my "favorite" payroll reports and be able to get all of them with one click. Currently I do need to go into each report, ask for the pdf version, then save. The conversion from html to pdf takes about 15-30 seconds, so it gets a little annoying when you have half a dozen reports you want.
  • I am still getting used to the newest website setup, so I still like the old one better, although the new setup is growing on me!
Over the course of the 13 years I've been working with TriNet, I think I've had a dozen payroll/HR representatives. I am sure everyone finds it annoying to switch reps, but so many of my reps have moved up in the company, and they all knew what they knew, and what they needed to research, and were always responsive.

I think TriNet shines as the payroll/HR/benefits solution for small to medium sized companies. Particularly if you are an incubator, and in the habit of starting companies often!

We are a small startup and use TriNet primarily for benefits, payroll and HR compliance. With TriNet we are able to keep costs down and tap into a network of experts. TriNet also keeps us updated on HR laws and regulations. The payroll reporting is also useful for our annual audit and is easy for our Accounting Dept to use.
  • The support team is extremely helpful and responsive.
  • I am both a user and administrator and the interface for switching roles is extremely easy to use and intuitive.
  • Having a dedicated representative is extremely helpful.
  • The website is cumbersome and not intuitive.
  • The new website is more user-friendly but there is still a learning curve.
  • During open enrollment, it should have be obvious that certain features on the beta site were not yet operational. It was confusing and wasted time to discover that what I was trying to do was not doable on the new site.
TriNet is suited for small companies that don't have the budget or bandwidth for an entire HR/Payroll dept. The new hire onboarding process is extremely intuitive and very easy. The automated email onboarding frees up the HR rep and puts the control in the hands of the new hire to make sure they comply with all required documentation. The instructions in the email are also well written. The reminders are also extremely helpful to keep the process on track.

Trinet is used across our whole organization. It has facilitated secure record keeping, communications/reminders to employees and benefits enrollments such as healthcare and retirement savings.
  • Trinet's reporting tools are really easy to use.
  • SSO is available for integrated providers.
  • Customized reporting is available which is a plus for companies utilizing enterprise resource planning software programs.
  • I cannot think of any, Trinet is a great software but not only that their staff is extremely helpful whenever you might have a question.

  • Various benefit plan choices especially for a small company.
  • The 2018 Benefits Strategy software platform with 2017 comparatives was awesome and easy to use.
  • The benefits specialist who guided me through the tool as very knowledgeable and patient...AMY!!!
  • Overall our HR client specialist is not bad and tries hard to provide answers and if she does not know will request someone else's assistance...Pretty responsive NANCY!!!
  • Overall not a bad system for both payroll and HR benefits.
  • Hardly ever have the system down.
  • Access remotely is easy being cloud-based.
  • Having a specialist here in the US rather than a foreign country...please keep this as is.
  • Processing semi-monthly payroll when employees do not work a full half a month needs help...the system can not figure out the hourly pay rate and calculates this erroneously... this should be a basic functionality...I have used the system previously before Applied Silver 3 years ago and I already knew the system couln't process this correctly What makes it even worse is the Client specialist will argue and state the method on how the system calculates and refuses to acknowledge the system limitation/problem even when this occured and continues to occur here at Applied Silver...it seems the Client specialists are given a script and stays with the script rather than understanding the math on how it sure work and looking for solution within the system to make the paycheck is come out right...I have offered several times to work with Trinet on this problem...don't mind helping Trinet to be even better.
  • Offer more choice in 401K partners such as Fidelity etc. -Trans America has limitations; very disappointed with the go live; right before we were going to process payroll they pulled the plug and said they could not do it after we had already notified Paychex 401K that we were going to terminate them; had to hurriedly re-activate ...luckily we were able to do so without any interruptions for the employees.
  • Need more knowledgeable client specialists.
  • [It's] Suited for small companies.
  • Haven't tried it for multistate payroll not sure if it works for Puerto Rico and Canada.
