Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I began with a Google search as my primary starting point. I also searched Reddit, YouTube and a few blogs. YouTube in particular complemented TrustRadius because once I narrowed my product search, I was able to view a number of videos regarding the product to simply confirm what I had already found on TrustRadius.

I have not used any other sources when looking up information on a product. I have found TrustRadius to be a very reliable source for information. I also believe TrustRadius also does a great job in getting highly detailed reviews from the folks that are using a product.

I didn't use any other sources of information for this particular product. I've used it myself to write reviews as well as to read reviews. TrustRadius is my favorite review site for platforms because of how easy it is to use and share the information. It's like they just "get" what my company is looking for when I'm creating proposals or reviewing submissions.

I would talk to colleagues when looking for ideas about what products to consider and I would look up the product pages themselves, which can give you an idea of what the product is trying to achieve. To figure out if it's actually achieving that, I would google for reviews which might send me to Reddit or it might send me to random locations, but I scan for different sources of information.

Other "software" that we used were user forums of software that we are reviewing. This allows us to see the user base, problems with the software, and the support (both community and officially) for the products. Obviously, you see the problems in there but you also get an idea of how easily some problems are fixed.

Internet (different search engines), forums where products are discussed, sites of product vendors, sometimes support questions to product companies. The point with them is that they are isolated, so research might take some time, where with TrustRadius I can quickly find a lot of reviews without a lot of effort. At the end of the day it is about the efficiency that I get with TrustRadius.

I used other compare sites as part of my evaluation period, and found their offering to be sub par to TrustRadius in general. They didn't have the industry relevant peer reviews that I was needing and the reviews were generally out dated and weren't based on the current solution release version.

We participated in sales demos or webinars with each product's inside sales reps respectively, asked for access to the solutions via a free trial or demo version, and also looked at various resources and blog posts offered by the site. Reviews were a good addition to the entire evaluation process. While we wouldn't rely on reviews solely to determine our final solution, they provide a unique insight into the product that the other resources can't offer - personal experience and stories.

We do look at the vendor's websites for info, such as case studies, white papers, and the companies that are using their software. If there's a free trial, we try to use it so we can experience the software on our own. Then, after we choose a few companies we like, we go to TrustRadius to see the reviews about the company and software. These reviews also help us to ask right questions to the vendor so we do not miss anything important that we should be aware of.
