UiPath is used across the whole organization in our company. In general, we use UiPath to solve rule-based and simple processes with easy decisions. Mostly we automate processes which are based on Excel lists. UiPath is a transitional solution in our company to bridge the waiting time for a stable IT solution. We communicate about UiPath topics in a JourFixe.
  • Intuitive handling.
  • Updates.
  • Support.
  • Performance.
  • Bugs.
The best scenario to use UiPath is, in my opinion, Excel lists, which offers sorted data to work with. In the best case, there is another program which offers a mask to take this data. UiPath is the interface between Excel and the program. A scenario where UiPath is less appropriate is when you want to automate processes with Citrix apps.

We started using UiPath as a part of our portfolio for automation. We integrate it with Chatbots too, so Chatbot can identify the user request and run the UiPath robot on the backend. We have a team that develops the solutions end-to-end, and afterword sells it to the end client. The main problem is that RPA, as we know it, is still quite a new thing so it takes time to get used to.
  • You can start for free.
  • You have a great community and perfect learning platform called UiPath Academy.
  • You don´t need many skills to start, even from a business or technical point of view. All you need to start with is common sense.
  • I would appreciate more advanced courses from the Academy, like how to implement your own code, how to deal with vb.net classes in UiPath etc.
  • Give the user a chance to customize the studio more, like layout etc.
Mainly useful for handling repeat process that drains many man-hours. This process is a great fit to be automated with RPA tool. Also, it is well suited for helping you with filling out forms, handling emails, gathering data around the internet, etc.

You can not really use it when the input data is unstructured or the decisions during the process are human-made.

My organization is positioning itself as an expert in the training, implementation and development of bots using the platform.
  • The ability to hybridize visual code execution with the optional power of traditional code.
  • The debugging mode is quite helpful in identifying problems as you can slow the execution down to look for nuances in application behavior.
  • They have created a responsive and knowledgeable community for which you can ask questions if you get into a jam.
  • It would be great to have a search feature to find activity lines and or property values.
  • It would be great to have a tool to manage argument passing centrally as apposed to an element by element. More or less creating a breadcrumb trail of variable handoffs from procedure to procedure.
I think UiPath is a great product. I rate products relative to others in the current marketplace and this is one of the top offerings. Each have their trade-offs at the top but the top platforms are there for a reason. My comments are coming from the developer perspective.

Across the organization, we are using the RPA Platform. Users were doing a lot of manual work in their day-to-day business activities, and after we introduced the UiPath RPA platform we have automized most of the manual work by using scheduled jobs. This has saved us a lot of business users' time, and avoided human errors.
  • Closely integrated with most of the major platforms(like Oracle, SAP, MS Office tools, excel, etc).
  • Automate most of the day-to-day business activities.
  • Very easy to maintain the systems.
  • Integration with PDF could improve more. The reading PDF doesn't work as expected all the time.
When we are going live with some system changes, business users used to conduct the user acceptance tests, and had to spend a lot of time on testing the functionality to make sure it wouldn't break anything in the existing functionality. We have automated this process by using UiPath, which has saved a lot of business hours.

I've used UIPath in automating the customer onboarding experience along with CRM integration in banking and insurance. It helped in capturing document information for retail/corporate customers with OCR/Computer Vision functionality. It's an excellent tool for automation, as it gives you drag and drop functionality of components for creating a business process flow. Also, it gives a platform for scheduling your custom jobs via Orchestrator along with notifications to customers via email. The UIPath Academy gives you a gamification platform for training and practical demos on projects used in industry.
  • Ease of functionality through easy UI navigation.
  • Easy integration with other systems.
  • Component-driven.
  • Quick support forum and easy responses from the team for fast resolutions.
  • Reporting functionality.
  • Notifications.
  • More live projects workflow screenshots in the help section.
  • Integration examples with AI, ML, and NLP, IOT.
  • Catering to different verticals such as Oil and Gas, Education etc.
Suited :
1. Works best in automating business processes with repeatable business rules and manual processes
2. Processes involving data from Images, PDFs, email, Word, Excel etc.
3. It helps in reducing the FTE efforts for an organization leading to cost savings.

However, any processes which require human knowledge/expertise will be difficult to automate with UiPath.

Our production teams had to enter data manually in 3 different apps which cannot be integrated via API. UiPath allowed us to automate most of the tasks, saving a lot of time in the process, which allowed us to switch most of the staff to more productive work.

  • Very easy to learn and get started
  • Developers got into it right away
  • Online accademy is very helpful
  • Desktop and web apps were integrated without any issue
  • Debugging has some room for improvement, but it got better in the latest release and seems to be headed in the right direction.
Repetitive manual data transfer tasks is where UiPath really excels.

There are multiple:

1. Automation of Manual Excel workflow: Earlier our account support executive used to manually prepare client Excel sheet using a variety of third-party integration, Data used to flow manually in excel and then exported manually out to different systems. What a fantastic work is done by UIPath using integrations and webhooks, we almost save 24 hours of weekly effort per employee and imagine we have to do this every time of year and for hundreds of clients.

2. Automated Data Entry: Automated Data entry of generated invoices was made so much easy with OCR recognition that we are trying to explore it in more departments like human resource and support systems.

  • Stong User Community
  • Product Innovation
  • Large number of Integration
  • Easy to Learn
  • Easy to Integrate
  • Free Certification
  • Large number of learning material
  • Easy Workflow
  • Webhooks
  • UI can be improved a bit
  • Release of features can be tested thoroughly and released
  • Improve Customer support
I have used UiPath usually in automating various manual processing activities for Support system where they spend a huge number of hours in manually doing import and export work. Secondly, I have used it for automating the process of functionality which needs OCR support in either searching from printed documents or using them for saving it in a digital and editable format. From my experience, it is less appropriate for process like devops, monitoring etc. There are better tools available in the market for automating them.

We are using UiPath in our organization in order to resolve problems and improve business within our clients' companies.
The businesses addressed are varied: HR activities, Supply chain, fiscal and financial institutions, and Retail businesses.
It's also being used to improve internal activities within the company.
UiPath is a good RPA tool because it has an open community and a powerful set of activities that can be improved by adding your own set of libraries and scripts you need, in contrast to other famous RPA tools.
The things that need to be improved in UiPath are to add advanced developers tools like GoTo activity, and the possibility to run from a specific point. As well, improving selectors attribution and the interface of the software. Not to forget the Orchestrator, and making it easier for users to use its functionalities.
  • Web automation lets you extract data from web pages easily in order to manipulate them.
  • OCR techniques to recognize text within pictures.
  • An open source community that gives you solutions to your technical problems really fast.
  • Add a GoTo activity.
  • Add Run from this step.
  • Make orchestrator simpler to use.
UiPath is suitable for automating web pages and desktop applications like Word and Excel: it has a big library when manipulating Excel and data records.
I don't see UiPath being very useful when using a Citrix environment, because you will be using image recognition and OCR, and those features require high tech tools that could be paid such as the Abbyy OCR engine.

Be it any mundane tasks like invoice processing, document management, document extraction and migration, order processing, KYC filling, application integration, Citrix automation, or any such rule-based tasks can be automated with RPA technology. It is being used in only certain businesses within the company with plans to expand company-wide. The software is very effective and ROI on businesses is very high even from a short period of time. In our company itself, UiPath automation helped different teams to automate their mundane tasks.
  • With its intuitive visual coding drag and drop and Microsoft SharePoint workflow foundation technology and open platform capability, code development and debugging is a cakewalk for anyone with minimal or even no coding background.
  • UiPath has a Community Edition for learning and trialling out, available free of cost. UiPath also has several dedicated online academies with video tutorials and various courses, which can make you a hero from zero in RPA, again at free of cost.
  • UiPath Community forum has a lot of active members and helps developers to resolve any query/tips to handle challenges related to development, deployment, and production.
  • Integration could be simplified
  • Forums could be more proactive
  • Could be made more cost-effective
Be it any mundane tasks like invoice processing, document management, document extraction and migration, order processing, KYC filling, application integration, Citrix automaton, or any such rule based tasks can be automated with RPA technology.

UiPath has been working great for us in automating processes where data needs to be manually fed into one application and the result transposed to another one. Data entry and data transfer between applications is a slow and error-prone process when done manually. RPA is a great solution to this problem. We're using attended automation for this, but productivity has increased by a factor of ten.
  • Quick learning curve for developers, with great templates.
  • Wide application support (both native and web-based).
  • Lots of training and learning material available, including an online academy.
  • Great pricing when considering the productivity gains.
  • Developers used to complain about UiPath becoming slow when developing complex processes. This only happens when developing, not when running the automation, so we solved this by boosting developers laptops with more RAM.
With great automation tools such as UiPath there's really no reason to have staff executing repetitive and boring tasks. However, when human judgment is critical, RPA automation won't be a good fit.

We have been using UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform for the past year for a health care and insurance domain (i.e for health insurance claims, claim statuses, payment postings, claim verifications, etc.). We have created multiple bots using UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform. UiPath eliminated our daily rule-based, claim verification manual tasks. We have saved 50% FTE using UiPath and we have seen faster development as compared with other [similar] tools and technologies.
  • We have a cloud-based application, by using UiPath we are able to automate Citrix applications.
  • UiPath has rich features relating to database activities, FTP activities, Excel Automation, etc. By using it we are able to automate multiple operations and save a lot of time.
  • The debug functionality needs to be more detailed (i.e it needs to add a step like 'run from step' like other debuggers do).
  • Simulate click needs to be made more reliable and consistent because sometimes it fails during run.
  • More AI and Machine learning features with better decision making and automation.
The most suitable scenario for our organization is scraping data from websites and a less appropriate scenario is reading handwritten claims (difficult to get perfect data).

UiPath is currently being used to automate processes across our whole company, but putting special attention in Finance related processes. The already deployed projects cover processes mostly involving the download of information from internal web applications and/or SAP, massaging the data in a certain form, and providing an analysis of that data in a specific format required by the business users.
  • Web automation, as the recording capability of UiPath, makes it extremely easy to build the skeleton of your automation just by recording the steps
  • Email related activities, as it enables not only interaction with Outlook but also allows SMTP configurations.
  • Interaction with Excel, as it allows executing macros.
  • PowerShell related activities are confusing and hard to use. The worst part is that there is not a lot of documentation available to reference.
  • HTTP activities for API fail even in situations where the API call is tested in other applications like Postman.
  • The stability of the Google Chrome extension can be improved. We have had situations where we have been in the need to reinstall it.
UiPath has a great advantage that building your automation involves mostly dragging and dropping pre-defined activities, so there is no need for having people with actual coding experience. This enables you to train business users into actually automating their own processes. The best scenarios where the tool is applicable are repetitive, rule-based and well-defined processes. Probably the worst scenarios are where you have non-native PDF files and you need to rely solely on the OCR capabilities, which are not 100% accurate by definition.

We are a consulting company. We are provided with third-party processes and decide on how to proceed, automation-wise. Generally speaking, most of our clients are looking to automate processes in order to be more efficient and maybe use their human resources elsewhere. Of course, in theory, you can automate almost everything, but we make our recommendations in terms of efficiency, time earned, and ROI. However, this is just one of the things that we do as a company, as we also work on other solutions apart from automation.
  • Simple processes that include clicking and inputting.
  • Interaction with virtual machines through Citrix automation.
  • Good integration with third-party tools and libraries.
  • Also suitable for automating larger processes that require more complicated workflows, though it can be a little tricky at times.
  • Activities like “element exists” and “on element appear” are not always reliable. An element could exist but not be visible, so when you try to interact with it, you may encounter errors even when using additional parameters.
  • Some times the platform is not smart enough to wait before doing a specific activity.
  • The error handling could be better in my opinion.
In general, regarding a straightforward process, and let’s say a simple process, UiPath is ideal. It can cope with more complicated ones as well of course. However, when a process requires to act upon a specific element appearance, for example, it feels somewhat more error-prone and time-consuming.

It is used within the whole organization and it still growing in my department. For my process, it is used to automate a few processes for data entry/analysis. Our productivity has increased while using this software. Other departments also create a few automation processes, like financing and billing.
  • Automation for the whole process and everything is nearly possible.
  • It helps a lot in operating a team where things can be automated.
  • Reading OCR sometimes is misleading.
  • Crashes sometimes.
With our frequent daily basic tasks, this software can give a great result as it can be used to automate these repeatable tasks. Almost everything is programmable with the right logic.

Actually, It's being used by the Information Technology department in our organization. We are processing the data from different departments like the Operations department, the Human Resource department, etc. There are thousands of files that are generated to process from different departments and now these are processed with the help of UiPath robots.
  • Simple to develop - so time-saving.
  • Best knowledge-base on the internet- their UiPath forum is awesome.
  • Version control system - which was recently introduced in UiPath.
  • Web-based control center - dashboard - Orchestrator.
  • Add more language support.
  • Adding more keyboard shortcuts will be helpful.
  • It would be nice if we could create executable robots as .exe files.
I think UiPath is suitable for any type of organization. Their licensing plans are very flexible and the main thing to describe is the knowledge base available over the internet. They also provide tutorials and training free of cost. This made the availability of UiPath to developers huge. Since they are introducing AI/ML to the platform, it can be used in any scenario.

UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform is ranking first among the hot skills my organization is working with. It is used across various domains like Operations, Healthcare, Banking, Insurance, Finance, HR and the list goes on across various verticals providing services with UiPath to our customers.

  1. UiPath's fantastic ability to automate Citrix based applications is its major attraction among customers where other RPA tools.
  2. UiPath also does a great job in image processing, where reading data from an image was all made possible with UiPath, with great accuracy.
  • Citrix automation is very reliable.
  • Image automation is very precise.
  • Efficient developer space with .Net libraries incorporated. Making automation itself easier and simple.
  • Debugging methods can be improved. The current debugging methods look slow and don't point at the bug exactly sometimes.
  • when multiple XAML files are open, it seems to be hanging at times, which needs to be figured out.
  • The tickets raised with UiPath, regarding the product, are expected to reply early. Once, when a ticket was raised, it was addressed only after a week, which tends to affect productivity.

Well suited in places where UiPath bots replace the repetitive boring stuff which humans normally do daily. More like a person sitting next to me who does the work faster, more efficient and accurately, with greater productivity.

Less appropriate in places where a physical human intervention or a human decision making is required, which might affect the end to end process automation chances. Until human decision making is taken over by technology :)

UiPath is used for multiple very different cases. We're using it to automate regression testing for example. It's easy to let a robot test a process like the end user would and validate that everything works. Another interesting usecase is transmitting data from a new system to an old system, during the implementation of the new system. The old system is still needed for a while, but we avoid users having to go through the process in both systems, by having a robot that collects the info and runs it through the old system.
  • Easy to implement, also with little coding experience.
  • Users always get excited when they see a robot doing their 'boring' tasks.
  • Tons and tons of options and features.
  • Upgrading to newer versions can be a challenge
  • Customer support can be a hassle
It's great for automating easy, repetitive tasks which take up time. That's where the most value lies. We've also used it for (regression) testing, preparing data for educational purposes, etc.

It is used in the department I am currently in, it is used to automate internal processes, but the main purpose is to provide our clients with the solution to automate their own processes.
  • The implementaion of .NET makes it a strong solution
  • The inbuilt OCR functionality is reliable and fast
  • THe robustness and speed of automation is great
  • The readability of the process flow worsens as the process gets complicated.
  • Implementing a scheduled robot is too complicated. Too much time to calibrate a robot.
When OCR recognition is required (such as PDF handling), UiPath works well with its structured-data functionality. When the number of variables is exceedingly high, the readability decreases. Complicated processes are hard to manage as it is impossible to navigate through the nested windows.

I'm developing several automations using UiPath. It is best used for complex processes that have to have integration between several systems, it is very easy to use, is not necessary to have very much experience with RPA and neither with programming languages. The orchestrator is very powerful, as you can manager every robot and process in a single place. Thus UiPath is very powerful, it lacks tools to use AI and it is very hard to control versions.
  • Very easy to use and learn
  • It is great when used with multiples systems
  • Has a great support from the UiPath team
  • The community it's very engaged, sharing solutions and helping others users
  • More tools for AI
  • A better system for version control
  • It is very bureaucratic to update orchestrator license
The UiPath is more appropriate when you are using multiples systems, because the license is very expensive, and to use the full potential of the UiPath, that is how you to use it. When you have only one system to use, it is better to look for other tools that are cheaper.

We've been incorporating UiPath in many business processes with amazing results. It has made our teams' lives a lot easier by automating data entry between different apps, eliminating repetitive tasks that everybody hates doing. We won a lot of time to use on more interesting tasks where we can actually make a difference.
  • Support for most web apps and desktop apps, even Citrix.
  • Can be used in attended or unattended modes.
  • Orchestrator is a great visual workflow designer.
  • The debugging mode could be improved.
  • When several XAML files are open, the developing mode becomes sluggish.
  • Price may be an issue for larger teams.
Repetitive data entry and data transfer between different applications are the main use cases for us. This is where RPA provides great value by replacing human labor with automation, resulting in shorter execution times and lower error rates.

Out RPA team is a hybrid solution; not only IT related but also with business related.
RPA tools are used for the whole organization, focusing on repetitive tasks and boring activities without added value. People are very happy to work in the RPA team and the whole organization is involved in the scouting processes suitable for the implementation.
  • In a visual design (such as Visio or Signavio) you have the whole process under control.
  • It is very useful to reuse parts of the code in a shared library.
  • The UiPath Go! Community is very very useful for contributors.
  • For Microsoft, only Excel has embedded activities. It could be useful to have more tools embedded.
  • SAP BAPI connection is now ready with the 2019 version, we were waiting for it.
  • Licensing could be more intuitive.
I think it is very useful in all scenarios. At the moment there is the ReFramework template that is very useful as a template for implementation and at the same time, you can develop workflows using Flowcharts and Sequences.
This is a full options experience that is also suitable for those who have no competency in programming.

The main use case for us are business processes including repetitive human tasks that make use of different apps in a common workflow. There's lots of opportunities here for improvement in terms of efficiency, time taken and error rates, and UiPath has proven to be a solid allied in addressing them.
  • Excellent workflow capabilities
  • Large set of applications supported
  • E-learning/training academy
  • Price can become an issue for larger setups, but thet's where you get the larger ROI too
  • Orchestrator API has room for improvement
Integrating different applications that would be hard or costly to integrate natively is a major use case.
For applications that can be easily integrated (e.g. by using APIs, import/export, etc.) UiPath won't provide a high added value.

  • Ability to implement the coding VB.NET and C# within the workflow makes most of the developers comfortable.
  • The recent update has implemented native Citrix automation by which we can automate the application located in virtual desktops with selectors (identifiers of GUI elements).
  • The environment to learn and exercise for beginners is well set up and free of cost by UiPath academy and UiPath community versions.
  • Licensing has been a major con in my point of view. You can not view or edit a workflow without a studio license even though we had an executer license.
  • Scheduling the workflows can be done only by having Orchestrator.
Well suited- Native Citrix automation, ability to work on virtual machines. Working with a legacy application with the help of OCR activities and text-based actions.
Less appropriate- Cognitive automation like speech to text/text to speech, was not useful in my projects. Recording option is also not stable with selectors.

As a company, we have a totally separate department which is dealing with different kinds of automation. I'm working there as an RPA developer, currently using UiPath. The decision to use UiPath was made by an external client. I have been working with this technology for about one year. In this time I have utilized approximately five bots and each of them is running on the production machine. Mainly we are doing SAP automation to reduce repetitive work and to reduce the need for people on the team to perform these steps.
  • A lot of possibilities in the design process. Depending on the size and complexity, we can choose between sequence, flowchart or state machine.
  • Instead of drag and drop activities, we can write our own code using C# or VB.NET or other languages.
  • It is possible to record our steps on websites or in some applications and then have it automatically convert these to steps in UiPath.
  • Errors thrown by UiPath should have better descriptions, sometimes its hard to find the source of an error.
  • Sometimes the program shows an error which is not there. After a restart, the problem disappears.
  • Studio IDE needs to be improved.
UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform was good when I was using this tool with SAP automation or other web applications. The problem is that the websites with flash components are not recognized by this tool at all. I appreciate the use of UiPath, especially in Citrix environments.
