It is our company HRIS that we use for all employee profiles, timekeeping, payroll, and employee communications. Prior to using this system, we had a lot of paper processes, and this system has allowed us to streamline and digitize much of what we do on a daily basis. We have substantially cut down on paper and inefficient physical routing of forms for signatures, so that has been a big time saver.

It's a very robust system that can handle organizations of any size. It can be helpful for small companies, but also is easily scalable to the large ones.

We use UKG Pro for both Payroll and HR functions. We have recently added recruiting. I do not use that module, but from what I have heard it is making it easier to enter requests for new roles to be filled. I like to reports, and the ability to run on the fly or modify current reports. My biggest issue is the help desk ticket system. I feel like I open a case and never really get a resolution. On the live call or chat I get excellent service and quick answers and/or help. I do receive an email with each step of a case but the email gives no information, which is time consuming to go into the system if you have many open cases. The resolution time is getting faster and may just be a case of catching up.
  • Reports- a great variety of reports that cover the needs over many functions. Being able to run on demand what reports I need for a given task is great.
  • Enhancements-UKG Pro listens to the users and takes suggestions for new products or services.
  • Qtr and year end planning- UKG Pro has a great review and listing to tasks needed to be completed for the quarters and year end.
  • Quick to report on tax updates and changes for State, local, sui taxes
  • Case system. If you open a case you get email acknowledgement. Then another when it is assigned. Then another email letting you know they have reached out to you. Not in that email just in the case notes. The emails do not give any details other than case number. I open many cases and have to go in and out of case system to figure out which case they need or want information on.
  • Additional tax payment notification.- Aside from checking every day if there is a new payment coming out, other than normal PR [payments], there is not a good notification process.
  • I feel the updates to open a tax case are a little cumbersome.
It is a well rounded system [that] I have implemented and used at two companies. At the 1st company we also had international employees. Ulti had very good third-party providers that were very knowledgeable.

UKG is used for all of our HR needs and is our current ATS. Everyone in the company uses it on a daily basis. It is used to maintain employee files, benefits, leaves, timecards, applicants, job postings, etc. All the systems are mostly intertwined so that they carry over from different "Gateways" that UKG offers. For example, there is a 'Recruitment Gateway,' which is where all applicants and job postings are held. Once interviews are held and an applicant is hired in that Gateway, they get transferred over to the 'Onboarding Gateway.' There is where some new hire paperwork is held and can be completed by the new hire. Once that is completed, we can launch them into UKG Core, and that is where the employee file will be created, and all their personal info (SS number, DOB, Tax Info, Direct Deposit, etc.) will be held. We also run reports out of UKG, which is helpful in determining data for audits/recruitment/retention needs.
  • Recruiting Gateway - easy to use and has some good features.
  • Onboarding Gateway - easy to use as well.
  • Changing Employee Info - easy to change location/personal info/etc.
  • Indeed Easy Apply Integration - has been down for a long time due to issues, but it makes it difficult because this is a useful feature that we have to manually add applicants to positions.
  • Recruiting Gateway - there are issues with re-hiring previous employees and hiring current interns because the email is always linked to the organization's email if hired in the system. No easy way to do this.
  • More features in the Recruiting Gateway - it would be nice to have more options for moving candidates around and creating a way to send mass emails to a pool of applicants created.
UKG is pretty well-rounded. There are some problems/lack of functionality, but it is very useful and helpful in other aspects. I mainly use the Recruiting Gateway and Onboarding Gateway. I wish there was more abilities for the hiring managers and other managers who are allowed to view posts/candidates. They can not view the presence tab, which is where documents the applicant attached are held and where documents that are uploaded by our Recruitment team are also uploaded. Since managers can't view this, it makes it difficult for them to see the whole picture and requires us to manually send them to the managers if needed. Also - the formatting in the Notes section under each applicant should have more format abilities. It all blends together in one big paragraph instead of allowing bullet points/tabs/etc.

UKG Pro is our main HRIS used for HR and payroll functions. When we implemented UKG Pro, it was the organization's first time moving to the self-service system not just for the HR and payroll team but for managers and employees across the company. Our goal was to introduce a system that would help us bring about more efficiency, process improvement, accessibility, and autonomy when it comes to employee information. We were also looking for a system with AI capabilities when it comes to ATS and reporting.
  • BI/Reporting functionalities allow for great customization of reports which you can also schedule. This is very beneficial because it helps to automate many of your processes. We have performance review reports set up, termination reports, probationary reports, and new hire reports to name a few.
  • The onboarding module allows bringing more efficiency to the new hire onboarding process by ensuring valuable information is shared with the new team member through their onboarding journey. We have received great feedback from new hires that completing the onboarding module takes away much of the first-day stress!
  • Ease of access to employee information for both managers and employees. You can easily reference/print/download necessary documents such as pay statements, T4, training records, and performance reviews.
  • The ability to capture diversity data especially through Recruiting and Onboarding
  • Ease of document flow through from Recruiting to Core (ex. offer letters)
  • Engagement features to enhance employee experience on homepage (polls, comment box, chat option, embed videos)
UKG is a company that is constantly looking ahead in terms of improving efficiency and being innovative. This helps them to successfully align with changing needs of customers and allows customers to always look forward to something new. With their forward-thinking approach, it helps customers to tap into their team's creativity and introduce service efficiency on a more consistent basis.

SMBSC used UKG Pro for Core HR processes, payroll, recruiting and onboarding, succession and performance management, HR-related file management, and employee surveys. UKG Pro was instrumental in modernizing our HR-related systems, reducing manual processes, and streamlining other processes. Payroll processing time was reduced significantly and we realized significant ROI after we implemented UKG Pro.

Core HR, Payroll, and Benefits capabilities are well-suited for virtually any company from small, independent businesses to large, global firms. There is a high degree of configuration available from within the solution that can be adjusted and maintained by the customer without the need for customizations from UKG. However, if absolutely necessary, UKG will provide customization services. SMBSC has two customizations on the Time & Attendance side of things.

  • Recruiting - easy for HR Generalists to recruit for open positions

  • Benefit Administration - limited functionality around benefit plans, types
I believe with companies that don't have a lot of complicated benefit plans with specific rules the Benefit Administration in UKG Pro is sufficient. This product is well suited also for companies withihn the US and even companies not in a lot of states.

We use the whole suite of UKG products including timekeeping, core system, benefits administration, learning management system, onboarding & recruiting, and other smaller modules. It is very helpful to have everything in one system so it's all connected. The implementation has been fairly smooth. The support during the implementation process was pretty good but varied slightly depending on which module of the system you were using.

We use UKG for onboarding, offboarding, recruiting, file feeds with vendors and benefits. UKG pro addresses our needs in all of these areas. The biggest problem with have is the length of time that it takes to get file feeds completed and to add other entities into the system. There is also a problem with wait times during payroll and open enrollment to get in the line with a representative.

[UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro)] is used across our whole organization, in the US, Canada, and now Mexico. We are also considering implementing in the UK and Brazil as well. We are a manufacturer, so 75% of our employees are hourly. We use UTA to track time and core payroll to pay everyone. We actively use Recruiting, Onboarding, Business Intelligence, employee self-service, etc. on a daily basis. It is the software of record for all of our employees.
  • Core works great and keeps every record, file, piece of data on all of our employees in one place.
  • Payroll works well and we have not had any problems in almost 7 years on the software.
  • BI is very helpful for reporting, and is an indispensable tool for our executive team.
  • We use our Document Acknowledgment module for lots of things to make sure that employees have read and understood policies, procedures, and agreements.
  • As stated before, 75% of our employees are hourly so we use UTA to track their time and send that time to payroll. UTA has been the number one source of problems for us over the last 6+ years. We have configured it greatly to match our work processes but this has caused difficulties for us through the years. It is difficult for our supervisors and managers to use.
  • The other thing that compounds the issues with UTA is that trying to use BI with UTA is much harder than using BI for core. Data is hidden and field names are not known, so pulling reports out of UTA is very difficult.
  • The other problem with UTA/BI is that you can't combine data from core and UTA into one report, which causes you to jump trough hoops to get this data to our executives.
  • We are now solving these issues by changing from UTA to UKG Dimensions. This will solve most of the problems that we have had through the years on the Time & Attendance side of the software.
The core/payroll/HR piece I think would work for anyone. We are in manufacturing (BTW you don't have an industry drop down for straight manufacturing), but I think these products and the other modules would work for just about any type of industry.

UKG is used for everything from the moment a candidate applies until after their separation and everything in between across our entire organization. It is used integrated with our most common job posting services (Indeed and LinkedIn), it encompasses our entire recruitment effort and module, all of our onboarding, hiring, benefits, payroll, BI for reporting purposes... I'm not sure what functions exist that we are not utilizing within our organization.
  • They are really focused on meeting the customer's needs even when they're needy (sometimes us when we perceive something as urgent).
  • They are solution-driven, helping solve a problem through trouble-shooting by fully understanding what the accomplished goal is, and how to attain it.
  • They are very experienced and knowledgeable in the categories we need assistance with.
  • The system is extremely reliable with little if any down time.
  • Cognos analytics can be a bit tricky to use and it takes a minute to really understand how to build reports.
  • Some minor annoyances seem to not be addressed and the perception is they aren't important enough to fix (e.g. opening the Onboarding link can sometimes prompt the user to login instead, forcing them to close the tab and try again).
  • Recruitment seems to not be able to re-open closed opportunities. Instead of being something that we use as a tool, we find that we are having to work around this particular feature.
UKG is best and thrives in an environment where it is fully integrated. While I am not entirely sure because I have not experienced it, UKG seems less appropriate if the customer is not ready or willing to fully integrate.

UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro) is being used as our HRIS and payroll system across the whole organization. The business intelligence reporting addresses so much of our HR and payroll data. We have created manager and BD dashboards for transparency across groups. We have also created many reports for our managers to view. I absolutely love the BI feature and support.

We used UKG Pro for multiple aspects of our business. Our contract consisted of payroll, benefits administration, ACA tracking, time and attendance, reporting (including custom), and HRIS. Our goal with this product was to have an all-in-one solution that allowed for the easy transfer of information. From the time an employee became active until after they left the organization. We wanted all information to flow into various aspects of the system to make our processes more efficient and timely. During my tenure, we expanded our relationship with the product to include a transition from paper personnel files to electronic personnel files. As I was leaving that organization, we also partnered with UKG Pro to upgrade our time and attendance program within their platform offerings. This was key for us as we used various reporting in the time and attendance module to drive our staffing forecasts.
  • The flow of information works when it's implemented properly.
  • The payroll admin side was easy to use from start to finish.
  • The HRIS and the Employee Documents partnership provided a seamless space for storing documents by employees.
  • The benefits admin package was clunky and hard to pull reports from causing our benefits team to have more manual work than should have been necessary.
  • The time and attendance package we had originally was difficult when it came to reporting because of the security access levels associated with it during set-up.
Like any good technology, the implementation team and set-up from the beginning are imperative to get right the first time. It would have been helpful for them to provide a roadmap of the implementation of some of our new offerings so that we truly understood all of the downstream implications of the decisions we were making at the time of implementation. There are a lot of solutions that UKG Pro can help a business with as it scales which is great. However, understanding the big picture of the different offerings before deciding which to prioritize would be helpful. We also found that the solution kept getting more expensive over time with greater increases than we expected, and the service level diminished the longer our contract went on.

UKG was our first HRIS system, before them we were completely paper-based. We implemented with them in 2017 at first only using Time management. Eventually, we also added onboarding.
  • User/employee side it was easy to use.
  • We enjoyed the messaging/SMS capabilities.
  • Support was lacking.
  • Admin side was not as user friendly.
  • Reporting is complicated and not easy to access.
  • Time management and Payroll/Employee data were separate so the 2 sides didn't talk to one another very well (ie, reports were harder to run, payroll errors, lots of extra data entry on "both sides").
  • Very expensive for what you get.
  • Communication with Support and Account Managers was poor.
  • Lots of missing functionality- modules didn't flow or talk to each other.
I would NOT recommend UKG for smaller companies. It is expensive and you will need a Full-Time Admin for the system just to keep on top of things. Processes are not easy and often there are a lot of extra click arounds or data that needs to be entered multiple times in multiple places for things to work. Meaning if you don't get all the steps in, you will have Payroll, GL, or Employee Data issues. We encountered a lot of issues, here is a snapshot-
- Errors on all our W-2s our first year due to an error from UKG when we implemented.
-Several missed/delayed check deliveries where checks were missing or not sent and we were not even alerted by the company. Had to call and "find" our checks, support gave us the run around while trying to cover for their errors.
-Errors in billing, overcharged for services not received.
- Support Issues regarding functionality were often not handled well. Support staff didn't seem to understand the different sides or modules so if Support in one area fixed something they didn't understand how that affected the other side of things.
-Since the 2 sides were separate databases staff could clock in for any job they wanted and the pay defaulted to their primary job. No Payroll Warnings were given to prevent simple/common issues.

We currently use UKG Pro for recruiting, onboarding, benefits, payroll, and document storage. We will be implementing UKG Pro Performance and Compensation. We are looking into adding Benefit Prime and HR Service Directory. The biggest problem we have run into is the original setup. What worked when it was set up 5 years ago doesn't work today. We have had to go back and clean up and think outside the box.
  • Payroll Processing.
  • Storage of employee information in Core.
  • Recruiting module.
  • Tax department.
  • Some customer service reps.
Overall this software had a great base and can be changed and built to everyone's needs.

We use UKG Pro as our Human Capital Management solution. We only use the Care HR modules and have a stack of peripheral systems we use for certain functional areas such as Benefits, Performance, Compensation, Time Tracking.
  • Custom Reports via Cognos BI.

  • Client Support for highly technical issues.
  • Delivered functionality that should allow to easily enforce compliance principles.
  • Integration of data/access across all solutions and modules.
Well suited for small, Canada and US-based organizations, especially in retail. Not suitable for organizations with an International populations outside of the US and Canada or SOX compliant organizations.

We use UKG Pro as a full HRIS platform at our nonprofit organization. We use it for recruiting, payroll, benefits administration, learning & development, performance management, and tracking hours - work, vacation, sick, holidays. Our organization has over 400 employees at 17 locations within five states. UKG Pro is an excellent platform for our needs.

  • Great, easy to use mobile app
  • Responsive customer support
  • Entering hours on the mobile app is sometimes glitchy
  • Browser experience could be improved upon
  • Pricing for long-time customers could be better (5% annual increases is not competitive!)
There are lots of good applications for UKG Pro. Payroll is core functionality and it is solid and robust. The Performance Management module was too robust for our organization's needs. Recruiting and onboarding module has improved our processes and reduced pain points for candidates and hiring managers. We are exploring the learning module, but looks great so far.

HRIS software that moves manual processes to the cloud-based system for both Payroll and HR needs, and provides a self-service portal for employees to handle mundane activities that used to require an HR person to work through with them. We used it for all HRIS and Payroll functions, as well as time clock-ish management.

  • Finding the correct fields you need for the reports is difficult.
  • Using as a manager to approve TAFW requests is not easy as you have to hunt for them.
  • Figuring out how to merge or link reports is even more difficult than working with them.
  • New users complain that when they try something incorrectly/inadvertently, the programs do not give helpful information about the issue and the state of the attempt.
  • The layout seems to be a conglomeration of separate modules crammed together rather than flowing to each other.
It is basically a functional HRIS system if you have well-trained HR staff with good retention on navigating somewhat difficult software obscurities. It is expensive so smaller companies may find that after investing the money they cannot afford the manpower to keep up with it or properly train people in its use.

This is our HR system of record. We also report out of it. We use it to track all of our benefits, as well as run our payroll through it. It helps us keep track of new hires and terminations that we have through the firm. It helps populate some of our other systems internally.

UKG Pro has allowed for a cohesive system that encompasses all aspects of HR, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, compensation, performance, and reporting. Keeping everything in one place makes HR administration simple for our department and our employees. I enjoy using and contributing to the UKG Pro self-service options, but I do wish their tax department provided better service.

UKG Pro has the ability to be customized to your needs. Be aware that some knowledge of systems administration is needed to utilize these features. Payroll processing is very easy, and the integrations work well to reduce double entry, which we see a lot in HR. The reporting capabilities far exceed many other options out there, and you can build almost anything by utilizing the training available.

UKG has been a wonderful all-in-one tool. We use it for timekeeping, goal setting, self-assessments, and reviews. My hourly team uses the app to clock in and out the clock for the day. As their admin, fixing any errors is super easy. Whether on the app or on a browser. I used the goal setting and self-assessment tools for the first time this last year and it was awesome to have the two connected when doing my own self-assessment. That way I could see what I had specified as goals and rate how well I did in achieving them.
  • Connecting tools to enhance the use of each. ie goal setting and self-assessments.
  • Time keeping is super easy for employees and managers.
  • It's super easy to navigate all the many tools UKG has.
  • It would be nice to construct your own personal drop down menu for the tools that an individual uses most.
We have a company directory tool in our UKG. It is probably one of the most under-utilized tools we have. This tool is on the customizable company home screen. It really is a one-stop location for employees to find company resources. The last month of the year we had quite a few employees reach out asking for a list of company reserved holidays and it was fun to show them that they had access themselves on their UKG homepage.

UKG Pro is used both as our HRIS software and our payroll software for our 2PL. Employees use to manage their time cards, time off requests, benefits enrollment. It is a great product that is very versatile. For management, we can pull time reports, employee profile information, and various other reports to assist with business needs.

I have found that UKG Pro is very good at the employee interface. UKG Pro is used by the entire company. It is our main HRIS system software. We use it for all employee maintenance from recruitment to termination. We utilize it for SSO with OKTA and for a lot of notifications.

[In my opinion] I would NOT recommend UKG to any organization that is fast moving or growth focused. They can not respond to you or implement change quickly at all [from my experience]. For example a banking change takes months. Too bad if you have fraud on your account or a new division opening quickly.
