We had to do a lot of programming. We did however have great people to assist us through the process and they worked with our programming team very well. They for a little while, helped us after we went live. There was a lot of troubleshooting with the payroll side, but I'm HR.

If you are moving into a system from manual processes, take the time to map out your processes. The UltiPro implementation team was great, however I think more time needed to be spent with us on how to really use the system vs. just getting us up and running.

The activation consultant was good but needed more support. He was good in some areas and lacking in others. We have spent months fixing configuration issues. More information regarding training would be helpful. We were confused as to who needed to take what. The sales presentation needs to do a better job explaining the core product. We were shown a certain functionality and told it would be available [only] to find out months later that it was a third party add-on that came at a additional cost.

It is a very arduous process (and would be regardless of the product being implemented), but the UltiPro implementation team that guided us through the process were very skilled, dedicated, organized and helpful. We implemented payroll and benefits within less than 12 months and there was virtually no disruption in employee pay or benefits upon the transition.

I was not here during implementation, so I can't answer any questions on that. Ultipro was already in use when I started last year. Since I've been working on it, it has been fine and have only had ongoing issues with PTP accruals', seems we always have problems with that.

A majority of the work fell on us. We were given spreadsheets to fill out. We would ask questions on the content requested as it wasn’t clear, but it was hard to get responses back from our implementation manager. Our first implementation manager was awful. They didn’t want to answer questions and were not very professional. The second one was better but it still felt really rushed. It felt like we didn’t have all the tools or access to see the system, to understand how things would end up in the end and it was very hard to imagine how everything would be. We were not told things in the beginning that we eventually figured out. We have been told that we cannot do things, and later found out that we could. After we first went live, we were automatically handed to the Account Manager to finish up remaining projects and we had several other projects to do, like integrations to vendors like 401k that did not turn out well. I recommend you ask a lot of detailed questions about how things will work during implementation. We had a lot of preconceived notions based upon what we saw in the demo based upon what the rep told us and they turned out not to be true. If you can do so, say we are not going to go live until we get everything figured out.

I was not satisfied. They had an implementation manager who did the core implementation and then farmed out each module to a different person. This was frustrating as people didn’t understand how each piece worked and interrelated. They didn’t have overall project manager who understood everything. It was very modular.

The implementation approach was challenging. Ultipro implements just one module at a time. You have a different person implementing each module and they don’t talk to each other. Our admin had to start over with each person. There was no master person or file The account managers were all but useless. We must have gone through 4-5 people. We ended up saying we cannot work with this person anymore. I began to escalate and fire account managers. We finally got one person who listened and said that they would help. They said that we’ll have a plan by X date ,but then they went on vacation. She ended up being a no-op. Even when pressed, she would never give her boss’s name. Eventually, I just stopped trying. I recommend that you put money in your budget for a consultant and hire someone to help with day to day. A consultant cannot necessarily do business process stuff, but it would have been useful to have someone experienced with Ultipro who could help get around issues. Been there done that experience is really important.
