Easy to use and instant results

Rating: 8 out of 10
May 28, 2024
We conducted over 800 usability tests on the platform to make crucial decisions on design implementations. This really helped us in achieving good results with our design changes. What I liked about it, was that the results came in so quickly and within an hour you had already a lot of responses. It made things much easier to understand where pain points were and how to make better choices.
  • Quick Results
  • Intuitive Platform
  • Large pool of users
Cons
  • Sales Team
  • Cost
  • Analysis features
For usability testing, it's perfect. It allows a variety of type of questions and the unlimited plan allows you to test everything, which is nice because you don't have to choose what to test.
It was promoted as a "test everything" tool, but once we wanted to renew, the sales team did not like our power usage and was very unfriendly in making offers.

UserTesting helps our UX team develop evidence-based designs for our portfolio of digital products. User feedback is invaluable to make the right design decisions and the platform has allowed us to optimize our research and design processes, both in terms of speed and volume of testing sessions, by providing quick access to a large pool of relevant users. With UserTesting we now conduct three times more feedback sessions than before, [which] translates not only in higher confidence but also a much better performance of our apps.
  • Quick access to an international panel of users.
  • Intuitive interface that allows all the team to easily prepare and launch studies.
  • Session recordings with automatic sentiment analysis and quick tagging.
  • Highlight reel videos make very easy to share research insights with stakeholders.
Cons
  • Summary report could be more relevant and attractive.
  • Exports are not customizable enough.
  • Live conversations through Zoom - sometimes the user can't find the Zoom link and if the facilitator provides it the session is not automatically recorded.
  • Observer mode in live conversations seems pretty useless as it is now.
  • There is limited flexibility as [to] how you can organize your studies. Folders structure and viewing could be improved, it gets messy. Further categorization of studies (use of tags/color coding, for example, could help to browse and find past studies.
  • Please please remove the chatbot, it is incredibly annoying.
It is a great tool for unmoderated testing. It makes it easy and fast to obtain user feedback on prototypes and live products across devices. Some of the testers are there for the money only and rush through the tasks without much elaboration. The live conversation features could also be improved.

We use UserTesting extensively in our planning, designing, and protyping process. It is crucial for us to have actual users feedback to incorporate when looking to make a change. The tool is extremely each to use and allows us to get a full grip on where we are having problems or what people are actually see in our experiences over others.
  • Allows you to gain user feedback from a demographic base and see asnd hear what the consumers experience is.
  • The UserTesting tool is easy to use and has an extensive university for self training.
  • UserTesting allows us to quickly make decisions after getting feedback back at speed.
Cons
  • I'd like to see them grow to include behavioral traits instead of just demographics.
If you are looking at redesign your digital experiences UserTesting will allow you to continue to be agile while creating the best possible experience for your users.

UserTesting is used by the User Research department extensively. We use it for moderated and unmoderated studies and I run a study almost every week. The results are shared with UX and Product as well who use it more as viewers. We use to get feedback from users on Expedia's products on an ongoing basis.
  • Quick recruiting.
  • Unmoderated and moderated study options.
  • Compare designs.
  • Diverse pool of participants.
  • Share video with partners.
  • Create clips easily.
  • Transcripts that can be exported.
  • Combination of different types of questions that can be saved.
  • Favorite participants and create your own panel.
Cons
  • Cannot compare more than 2 designs.
  • Cannot delete studies which makes it cluttered.
  • Cannot select and publish just certain videos.
  • Chat feature with support who are amazing.
I love the ease of use, speed with which we can get studies completed. Customer support is awesome and I love that they have incorporated feedback and added requested features over the last couple years.

In order to improve product usability and obtain actual user input, we use UserTesting. It is an affordable method for determining pain points and making marketing collateral and prototypes good. By using this, we are able to close the gap between our presumptions and user reality, which improves user experience, optimises products, and helps us meet client satisfaction objective.
  • Identifies latent usability flaws based on actual user behaviour.
  • Allows for rapid iteration on prototypes to gather early input.
  • Users' comments and expressions reveal their emotional responses.
Cons
  • UserTesting does not allow you to pick specific testers and instead screens them based on demographics. This can be restricting if you require very targeted user groups for testing.
  • It is possible for testers to describe events and ideas inaccurately at times, which could introduce bias into the data.
  • Usability testing and general user feedback are the two main purposes of UserTesting. For highly technological products or those that need very particular user journeys with complex activities, it might not be the best option.
When it comes to rapidly assessing how well your website makeover is going, user testing excels. You can find any difficult-to-understand material, ambiguous menus, or perplexing layouts by having actual people browse your website before it launches. This guarantees that your website meets its objectives and is easy to use. However, when precise user behaviour needs to be recorded in financial apps or other highly complex applications, UserTesting might not be the ideal option. In a similar vein, it is focused more on generic usability testing than on a thorough examination of intricate user tasks. Put more simply, UserTesting allows you to see how actual users interact with the "look and feel" of your website. Different testing techniques might be more suitable if you need to get into the finer details of really specialised products.
