DELL/EMC VBlock is a hyper converged platform used for on premise workloads of the enterprise hybrid cloud. VBlock provides processing, storage, and replication services. VBlock runs mixed workloads, including database servers, application, and web tier servers, as well as general IT and supporting services. In addition, VBlock runs low-latency communication workloads, such as Cisco Call Manager and Microsoft Lync server.
  • Speed - unparalleled processing speed and responsiveness. VBlock design eliminates bottlenecks in data transfer between components.
  • Reliability - Built with leading industry components VBLock ensures low hardware incident rate.
  • Resiliency by design. VBlock is designed, built, and setup in a way that no single component failure will cause loss of functionality or management capabilities.
  • Integration
  • Even tighter integration between components, with single pane of management dashboard to manage and deploy solutions.
  • Automation - as of right now there is no single administrative interface provided to script solution provisioning.
VBlock is extremely well-suited for reliable delivery of virtualized mixed workloads. VBlock provides necessary hardware abstraction that allows for, uninterrupted by hardware failures, continuous delivery of critical services that otherwise do not provide hardware failure resiliency. VBlock is not the best solution from a financial standpoint for cost-sensitive solutions that are programmed for software resiliency.
  • VBLock has eliminated unforced downtime occurrences in the environment.
  • VBlock support model has significantly reduced amount of effort allocated to hardware installation and support activities and firmware maintenance.

VCE vblock is a converged infrastructure with all three major vendors - Dell EMC, VMware, and Cisco. We migrated all of our workloads running from Oracle SPARC to Vblock to run our IT systems. It is well suited to run highly technical applications like SAP, Oracle, and other business-critical applications.
  • Product is well suited to run highly technical applications like SAP, Oracle, and other business critical applications.
  • Easy manageability between vendors for support issues.
  • Product is not simple to manage.
  • Product is very expensive. Documentation is too complicated to understand.
Depends upon the workload, check with other vendors like Nutanix, SimpliVity, HPE and funding approved by the business.
  • Single contact for vendor support & fully tested and integrated.

We use vblock to consolidate our VM workloads previously running in HP environment. It is currently use by the whole organization to run our IT systems. The business problem it's trying to resolve is to simplify maintaining a single vendor for the whole infrastructure. Currently it's running different workloads namely SAP, Manufacturing applications, internal webapps, etc.
  • Single contact for vendor support.
  • Fully Tested and integrated.
  • Best of breed products combined.
  • Tech Support.
  • Documentation.
  • Management.
VCE vBlock is well suited to run highly technical applications like SAP HANA. Having an infrastructure fully built from ground-up and well tested assure customers that everything had been done to architect the solution very well. Running general VM workloads is an overkill due to the expensive cost that this product entails.
  • Product is not simple to manage.
  • Product is very expensive.
  • Documentation is too complicated to understand.
vce vBlock is considered a converged solution wherein 3 vendors namely cisco, vmware and emc combined in a single rack/solution. Compared to Nutanix which is tightly integrated, vblock does not provide the ease of use, support and management. The solution does not offer that much if you buy it separately.

VCE enables us to attain cloud computing benefits very quickly. Since it's a pre-installed (storage, compute, networking and virtualization) technology it allows us to implement the system quickly. Another advantage of Vblock is the modular approach, which can grow as per the needs of our organization.

  • Ease of Implementation
  • Local Support and Expertise
  • Minimum disruption to Architect
  • More awareness among IT fraternity
VCE Vblock is well suited for:

  • Elastic Computing
  • Disaster Planing
  • Reduce Foot print
  • Optimize Resource
  • Ease of operation
Local expertise and vendor presenece
