Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 is an excellent solution for Office 365 data backup!

We use Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 to backup and safeguard our Office 365 email and files. All of our Office 365 email accounts and OneDrive files are being backed up to our local Storage Area Network devices. Since we are a medical practice, email and file security are very important and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 gives us the security we need to protect our information.

Once we switched to Office 365 I realized we had no other way to securely back up our emails. Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 provided us with that solution and fit within our budget. Excellent product, excellent support, and excellent security for our data. Highly recommended to anyone using Office 365.
Simple to setup and use. Implementation was so quick and easy and everything just happens in the background so there is no impact on the user experience. Our administrators have been able to recover a missing email and file quickly and with multiple options for recovery points. I can't imagine anything being any better or easier to use.
The loss of data is critical in our industry. Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 gives us multiple retention points and multiple storage locations so we have complete data security. We have had to restore missing emails and files and it was so easy to do. We had simple choices of which files or email version we wanted to restore. So easy.
Being able to restore files to other locations is critical and allows you to preview the recovered file while still having access to the current file. We have had to recover an older version of a file to retrieve data from it to update the current version of the file so we didn't lose the data that was missing from the current file but stored in the older version.
Simple and easy to install, setup and configure. Anyone with even basic skills should be able to accomplish the install and configuration. Once it is installed and running, there is almost no maintenance required. Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 is so easy to use when you need to find an older version of a file or email and recover it.
Since we already used Veeam Backup and Replication, it was a natural and easy choice to add Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 to our backup solution. We researched online several other similar products but didn't feel the need to actually set them up to see that we would be happy with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365.
Veeam had always provided us great support on the few occasions we have had to reach out to them for assistance, though we have never had to call them for our Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365. Veeam has always been very helpful and responsive and we have no doubt the same will be true if we ever need their assistance with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365.

Our IT administrator manages the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 backups for all of our users. It was very easy to setup and manage and the backups have been very useful in allowing us to recover some lost emails. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 has been very beneficial to us and we are so happy that we started using it.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is very easy to use, but we only allow our IT administrator to manage the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 system since on the IT administrator has access to the server that the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is running on. It's easy enough to use that almost anyone could be trained to use it.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 just works so well and is so easy to use. I researched multiple options for Office 365 backup and none seemed to be as easy to setup and use as Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and the pricing was very comfortable to us. I can't imagine any reason why we would change away from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

The upgrade process is so easy. I choose upgrade from the main menu and it checks for any new versions, then I just click upgrade and click ok a few times and it upgrades itself. It couldn't be much easier. I have it set to email me when new versions are available and then I am able to upgrade my install within a few minutes.

Veeam for M365 - it does just work!

While Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 does have its retention policies and recycle bin to recover deleted items it wasn't sufficient for our needs. We use Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to back up user mailboxes and Teams in Microsoft 365. Backups are stored for compliance and archive purposes should we need to go back to a point in time.

- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 isn't 'multi geo' aware - this means we have to manually select resources to back up depending on their geo-location.
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 doesn't backup Private Channels users create in a Team - there are workarounds for this but it would be nice if this just worked.
I would recommend Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 where you need to protect against data corruption, ransomware, or where there is a requirement to maintain backups for compliance or archive purposes. Microsoft 365 does offer retention policies to recover deleted items out of the box, if this is all you need you probably don't need Veeam.

After reviewing the options for backup out of the box with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 it became clear we would need a third-party solution to backup our data in M365. As an existing Veeam customer for our on-premise backups we reviewed the Veeam backup for M365 along with some other vendors. We decided to go with Veaam because we trusted the product and have been very happy since.
It just works. We have been very happy since we started using Veeam backup for M365.
We haven't yet needed to recover from backups. However we have carried out a number of restore tests and have been surprised how easy it was.
We haven't yet used this feature.

When we were getting our environment setup and was looking to integrate the backups with our OnPrem and Cloud storage the support technician really took his time and we felt like he cared about our data. He made some excellent recommendations around immutability of backups too.

I purchased it to simply backup my important users' emails. I use Veeam Backup and Replication and find the products do a great job; I really didn't look at other products when I purchased this one.
- My CFO seemed to have lost a whole year of important emails. I simply restored them to his mailbox in a matter of minutes.
- An employee left the company but an issue came up with a quote this person sent out. I could search his mailbox and got the quote as well as all communications from that customer.
- It is nice to be able to search emails in various mailboxes without disturbing the user.
- It is also nice to go back in time. Say they deleted those emails last month I can go back years if needed.
- I found the interface a little sloppy; it could use some cleaning up.
- I would love to see a search option to search through all backup mailboxes instead of selecting the date of the mailbox and searching.
- I don't see why I can't change the computer hostname without having issues. Veeam Backup seems to tie it to the license. This should be independent.
- I would like to see a way to add licenses from the interface. Presently you have to go and buy from a provider, then download the license. I want to add five more licenses, and it would be great to select five more licenses and just bill be billed or have the bill be added to an account.
I only give it a 9 because I have not seen other solutions, but for me, this product works as expected.
- This product saves me from being in a situation where I have to report to people who can fire me and say, "I am sorry you lost mail, but there is nothing I can do."
- I remember the license was fairly inexpensive, and I used a used PC and bought a small Synology NAS, and it was up and running in a day.
- I have not done an ROI because of too many variables, but in my would, this is low-hanging fruit and has saved me a few times from saying, "Nothing I can do."
The fact that previously our machines didn't keep more than 30 days of backup on them. Availability is excellent in Office 365. Most users or companies do not understand the importance of email.

It works what else can you ask for
Nothing on the attack side of things, but again, my CFO lost important mail about benefits from a few years ago. I asked him a time frame, and we have been using it before then. I simply went back and restored it to a new folder in his email so he could go over it and put the mail he wanted to keep back and delete the rest.
I had a litigation issue (sorry, I just remembered), and I had to go back into four different mailboxes and pull all communication with this particular company. Once I gathered all the communication, I saved it as a PST file and sent it to our lawyers for them to go through and send it along. I can't imagine having to do that without Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365. It really saved me on this.
Archive - To go back in time and get emails someone might have deleted a year ago and still be able to retrieve them. Adding the mailbox to the backup only takes a few minutes. It is easy, and I simply check my mail that the backup happened as a daily chore.
Good, but I have not had anything really to support. The only support case was because I changed the hostname on the PC.

We currently use Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 for all of our staff and students, backing up to AWS cloud storage. The backup solution is essential considering there is no backup of individual files in O365 by default. Using Veeam allows us to restore item level files quickly.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft O365 is being used by our entire organization. We have working to migrate to SharePoint online but had concerns about the best way to backup and restore items in the cloud. We had concerns about restore times and bandwidth usage with other solutions we were evaluating and Veeam's solution blew us away with how quick and easy it was to restore. This solution makes it simple to restore or just recover single documents and send them out to the person who needs them.

We have had situations where a user deleted an item and we were not notified until 2 weeks later. It was easy to navigate to the page and recover the document without having to restore the entire site. I think this is well suited for SharePoint 365 and One Drive but not as an email backup solution as the compression is not built into Veeam.

We attended SharePoint Fest a few years ago and it was identified that Microsoft wasn't backing up our Office 365 environment. We have tried using other solutions like AvePoint and had a horrible experience. We used Veaam for our virtual Environment so it made sense to move to one single platform. We did the trial and it was simple to set up and connect to our O365 environment.
Easy to Use especially when you are used to the Veeam Backup and Recovery. The User Interface is very easy to use and has a wonderful layout. Everything is set up logically and is very straight forward in the overall layout. The User Interface is easy to navigate and return to your previous page you were working on.
On multiple occasions, we have had the need to restore an object that a user has either deleted content, accidentally deleted, or completely removed it from the page. With the way things are going in today's environment with Ransomware and Malware things can get easily corrupted or locked out, Veeam Backup allows for a wonderfully easy way to restore.
We have had an opportunity to utilize each option. These different options are nice especially when the end-user needs the info but doesn't need it put back in its original location due to compliance requirements. We have had times where users have inadvertently put information on SharePoint Online and then found out it is not supposed to be there and someone has removed it but did not keep a copy to put in the correct location. This is nice to be able to retrieve the documents and provide them to the department in need to file away.
The user interface is a wonderful feature. You can go to your SharePoint pages and drill down into each page to see the documents that you need. It is easy to find the document or documents because you are able to search the page as it is normally laid out. I love how it is set up exactly like the Veaam Backup and Replication layout. This makes it easy as an administrator to not have learn a new interface.

Veaam Back up for Microsoft Office 365 is amazing just like the other platforms. I would really like if it could be added to a single pane of glass to the rest of Veeam. As an administrator, it is a little time consuming to have to change form one application to another when managing our organization's backups.
Every time I have contacted Veeam for support they have been very attentive and easy to work with. They understand that Backup and Recovery is an important part of any organizations makeup and treat it as such. They are quick to respond and help resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

We replaced AvePoints version of SharePoint Online Backup and Recovery. AvePoints software was not easy to set up or use. When we started to create a backup job it did not go through a logical set-up process. It started to ask you questions but you couldn't complete that part of the set up because you need to do this part first but the only way to complete that part was to go through the set-up process and get redirected. Ultimately it took 3 times as long to get a back up configured in AvePoint as compared to Veeam.

Product usability trumps all the other factors. We were looking for something that was easy and straight forward in its setup and its use. We didn't want to have someone with a PhD to be able to manage the backup and restoration of the system. It also helped that we were already familiar with Veeam.
I would not change our evaluation process. Veeam is great in allowing you to test drive the software and see if it will work before you go any further. It is easy to install and configure in an evaluation process and doesn't require you to make changes to your overall environment to run.
