What is Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365?

Veeam® Backup for Microsoft 365  aims to eliminate the risk of losing access and control over Microsoft 365 data including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams – so that data is always protected and accessible. Veeam can securely backup Microsoft 365 to any location, including on premises, a hyperscale cloud, or a service provider and:

Protects Microsoft 365 data from accidental deletion, security threats and retention policy gaps
Quickly restores individual Microsoft 365 email, files and sites with recovery flexibility
Meet legal and compliance requirements with eDiscovery of Microsoft 365 items

NEW in Version 7: Advanced monitoring and reporting through an integration with Veeam ONE v12. This is available as a separate installation and comes at no additional cost to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 customers. V7 also includes: Backup copy between ANY object storage systems with immutability for ransomware protection, and Microsoft Teams support for self-service restores via the Restore Portal.

The vendor offers a 30-day trial and a demo on Microsoft 365 backup.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 has been maintained and updated in a timely matter, which is essential with Microsoft constantly changing things. It is good to know that Veeam always takes into consideration some of the changes being made and provides feedback and things end users should expect when a change may affect the way backups work. Technical support is also always handled in a timely matter in my experience, and I never had an issue where I was displeased with the support I received, and I have always had my issues resolved. The knowledge-base articles that they provide on their website also do a good job of painting the whole picture of the product and make it very easy to plan, implement, and administer.

All interactions are with highly skilled support people who know their product and also the platform the product runs on. So when the issue is not really a Veeam issue but is more related to the Windows Server or SQL Server they will still provide solutions on how to mitigate the issue. The overall support for the Veeam Backup is great. It is easy to configure and set up, you can back up your Microsoft 365 data within minutes. The product generally works flawlessly.
