Veeam 365 -- Does what it says on the can
With the impending failure of hardware that had long hosted our internal file services we made the decision to move to a cloud solution for most of our internal shared files. However, with that move, we moved away from the backup solution that had protected those files on-site. I emphasized to our leadership team that we needed to either acknowledge that they were not interested in protecting that data any longer, or allow us to emplace and assign resources to protecting it. The administration was unwilling.
When the administration team was replaced with competent personnel, and the bungling of the previous group began to come out, we were able to get resources and approval to move towards a solution. In our case, we already were using Veeam for our on-site data needs, so with a team behind us we could make a decision to continue with them.

Microsoft does not back up anything.
If there is a datacenter disaster or infrastructure related issue at the microsoft level there is potential for entire data loss.
Also, unless policies are in place to prevent deletion if the account were to get compromised you could lose everything. Without a true backup solution no data is safe.

After reviewing Microsoft’s retention policies, we needed a solution that had retention we could adjust to our compliance with ease of use.

Rest easy knowing your cloud data is protected by Veeam!
We lacked a method to reliability recover missing data from sharepoint and exchange outside of the recycle bin and deleted folder. This was also a way to protect the integrity of our data within our organization

Great value, good performance
We were reliant on microsoft versioning, but did not feel like we could provide the retention standards written in our policy. As we expanded our data into the cloud, this became more and more necessary

Great tool for that extra layer of security
Had a few instances of users accidently deleting a folder and not noticing for awhile. Also have some OneDrive locations that are integral to the company but are ultimately tied to an employee. This backup solution allows us to have better control of data through employee changes.

So close, great product
The built in tools for M365 for data protection just doesn't have the functionality we need so we pursued other options. Since we use Veeam for backing up our VMs both on prem and in the cloud, this made sense. We had plenty of opportunity to review and POC the software, but we never tried a restore of a full library (i.e. in the event of ransomware) and when we finally did, we discovered it completely ignored retention and sensitivity labels / tags. This is a big deal for us as we use these labels extensively in our environment and have automation based on them as well.

Veeam Backup for Office 365 is a great product.
There were not many options out there to back up Office 365, and I have heard many great things about Veeam backup for Office 365. It was very simple to install and configure, and the backups run every night so we can confirm that all our data is safe and recover them if needed.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Highly Recommended
Once we migrated our mail from our own Exchange server to Exchange Online, it was clear we needed a way to ensure we had control of our data. We already used Veeam for backup of onsite servers and infrastructure. When looking at the feature set and getting a demo setup, we saw it was immediately the solution we wanted and just worked.
With the move from local Mail to Microsoft 365 there was no more Backup available. We wanted to have on-Prem Backups. Since we already use Veeam for our VMware Backups, it was our first choice.

Why Veeam is a good solution to back up your Azure data
I think that anyone who uses any Azure services knows they need something like this. There are various options, but Veeam put the effort in years ago to make data backup and recovery an easy process. Extending that to Microsoft cloud services is a logical next step, especially for anyone already using Veeam Backup and Replication.

We needed to have a backup to restore from. Users were deleting emails and we were unable to restore the emails in any way, shape, or form. We decided to install Veeam Backup for 365. We utilize Veeam for our enterprise backups already.

When we came to understand that while M365 is perfectly fine as a reliable/resilient data storage service, it has (had) ZERO options for specific point in time data backups. Also, the services agreement spelled it out in no uncertain terms that 'we' wer responsible for the safeguarding and backing up of our own data.

Best In Class.
When setting up Microsoft 365 I was notified by Microsoft websites that backup was not included, and I need to supply my own. Veeam was the best in class so that is what was deployed and has been to many clients. The FREE version is also very helpful for small businesses.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 does everying Microsoft doesn't!
The IT department started receiving odd requests for email retrieval of former employees who were suspected of communicating private company data with a competitor. Suspicions arose when an employee's email was wiped before departure from the company. With no long-term backup solution available, we demoed the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 product, which fulfilled the needs.
