We use Veeam to backup our on site servers and our staff laptops. Witht he importance of data integrity and confidence in the backup process, Veeam has assisted us in reaching these requirements. We do weekly backup recoveries to test the process and we have not had any failures to date.
  • Backup
  • Data recovery
  • Staff device backups
  • Mac platform
It works as intended, relatively easy to setup. Recovery process is relatively simple and quick. There is some advancements required for the mac end points however, the agent isnt very user friendly or informative. Also the process of moving from one backup server to another has proven difficult while keeping current backups for the mac end points.

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup all of our internal servers. It makes backup and restoration extremely easy, and it definitely gives us peace of mind. We have never had any issues when doing server restoration. It is a very solid product.
  • Ease of use within the platform
  • Encryption of backups
  • Ease of restoration
  • Reliability of backed up data.
We have had very good luck with it in our virtual environment. I don't have a lot of experience doing physical backups on systems, but from what I have read it is pretty straightforward.

We used to use Veeam Data Platform to backup our critical infrastructure like servers and VMs. It is a great tool if you have plenty of on prem storage. I'm sure it has a lot of great features if you either have someone on staff who knows it inside and out but if you work for a smaller company like me and wear many hats in your job it's harder to know if you are using it to its full potential. We ended up switching to an alternative cloud based back up product as it seems to be more intuitive.
  • Backups are easy to setup
  • Policies are simple to assign
  • Recovery is easily accessible
  • Lots of tools but not very intuitive to set up
  • Couldn't figure out immutable backups
  • Updating to newer version is kind of a chore
It's a great option if you have the time to figure it all out and get it setup properly. It's not very expensive and is a good solution for backups and data retention. If you don't have a ton of data you need to backup or potentially restore you'd probably be better off with a cloud based service.

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup all of our different servers. This allows us to ensure we have an easy to restore backup in case we get infected with any viruses or have missing data.
  • Instant restore
  • alerting
  • faster support
Veeam Data Platform is perfect for virtualized systems and you will be very happy with the easy to use UI.

We use Veeam Data Platform to automate our server backups and replication. It allows us to set all of this up, including failover plans, and we don't have to touch it again unless a server needs to failover to our DR site, or we need to restore it from a backup.
  • Server backups
  • Server replication
  • Built in failover plans
  • The user interface
  • Quicker support on issue tickets
  • More detailed error codes for some of the generic errors
When needing to back up, and/or, replicate many servers it is well suited. It also allows you to connect many different VM host infrastructures, cloud infrastructures, etc.

It would probably be overkill for companies that don't have the need for a large amount of servers to be backed up, replicated, etc.

I use Veeam Data Platform to backup multiple VMs on multiple servers to a NAS and then out to a cloud repository for another level of protection. Veeam Data Platform is very easy to setup and to administer. They also have very good technical support. To say the least, I am very happy with Veeam Data Platform. It would have been nice if I had found them (or they found me) years ago but I am glad we are partnered now.
  • Backs up VMs
  • Moves backed up VMs from NAS to cloud backup partner
  • Monitoring / reporting of successes and failures of all actions
  • Sometimes the error messages are a bit ambiguous requiring tech support to clarify.
  • Not every scheduled backup works 100%. That said, I let it roll as the following one typically will.
I do not know about less appropriate but as far as well suited, Veeam Data Platform does an outstanding job with VM backup and restoration. Early on I had need to rebuild a server with four VMs and I was relying on Veeam Data Platform to come through and oh boy did it! Restoration was only a few clicks and quicker than I could have ever hoped for. If I had Veeam Data Platform / this version anyway some years ago, it would have paid for itself tenfold. My message to anyone with VMs: Get Veeam Data Platform!

In our organization, we use Veeam Data Platform to protect our valuable information through data security, data backup, and data freedom. The platform delivers innovative data resiliency built upon three foundational pillars: Data Security, Secure Backup, and Secure Recovery. Veeam gives us confidence in todays risky world of data breaches, malware etc.
  • Recovering Active Directory data in the attribute level
  • Tiered backups to disk, cloud and tape
  • Security inside the product including MFA
  • More support for different application level backup and recovery
I think it is well suited for medium to small business scenarios. Product is easy to use and learn. It has good support for different backup repositories. Product takes security seriosly with builtin MFA, support for immunitabilty of data.

I use it as backup and recovery application. We have also used it as a tool to replicate any additional drives being added to the actual server as a testing mechanism. As an accounting firm, we are a potential target for ransomware attacks and Veeam ensures us a reliable backup.
  • Quick backups
  • Accurate recovery
  • Speedy recovery
  • Virtual data testing
  • Speed of image taking could use improvement.
  • The amount of stress put onto the server when taking snapshots is noticeable at times.
  • Enabling the creation of multiple snapshots at one time.
Very well application for backup and recovery. It has allowed us on multiple occasions to roll back to previous backups smoothly. We have had situation where a certain important data was purged by mistake. Veeam's backup copy allowed us to retrieve the lost data. Making frequent and organized backups of our server has allowed us to feel comfortable against any potential threats with a recovery of only one day of data loss.

We use it for our primary backups and it does a great job. While it isn't perfect, nothing is, it really is the best on the market and makes setting up an intricate backup system to meet the needs of our business easy. We have it performing daily backups to 2 different NAS servers as well as a USB rotation. It then will copy this data to an Archive NAS for long term retention. Lastly it replicates our VMWare VSphere server to our data centre for disaster recovery situations.

The cost is well worth the services it provides.
  • Replication of VMs to secondary locations
  • Backup jobs to different locations
  • Instant restores to test backup integrity
  • User interface could use a refresh
  • More detailed errors for failed jobs would be useful. instead of having to find and open log file.
  • Grand Father system could have more granularity and options.
Small to medium sized business will be well suited for this application. We are a smaller organisation so I cant speak for enterprises but the functionality it gives us is perfect.

It is great for backing up VM's and physical servers, and storing those backups to different locations. We even use it for replication to give us DR capability at our datacenter.

Recovery of the backups is easy and can be very quick (2-4 minutes) in the case of 'Instant Recovery' and publishing the backups is a simple process.

We use Veeam Data Platform to perform out of band hybrid backups of our IT server infrastructure and end-user endpoints. The thing I value most about Veeam as a solution is how flexible it is to backup practically anything (Windows, Linux, Mac, physical, virtual (HyperV and VMware) and cloud) and restore to practically anything in a similar fashion. We use it to perform continuous and scheduled backups, as well as for performing migrations (physical to physical, physical to virtual, physical to cloud, HyperV to VMware, HyperV/VMware to cloud and vice versa).
I also like that it is aware of some of the database products we use (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and can automate certain tasks like truncating logs, etc.
  • backing up and restoring on-prem virtual and physical hosts
  • automatically orchestrating the backup infrastructure (backup proxies and transports)
  • automating the restoration workflow (being able to restore in place without having to perform additional manual operations)
  • Reporting and logging
  • Licensing: allow the use / merging of perpetual and subscription licenses. We have permanent per socket licenses, and subscription licenses to backup desktop workstations. This currently forces us to have 2x Veeam servers.
For a modern infrastructure, I can't think of any situation where Veeam isn't suited. My only issues are with legacy infrastructure (i.e. industrial machinery with Windows XP) cannot be backed up as the Veeam Agent only supports Windows 7 and higher. I wish there was an API for to develop our own agent to upload to Veeam for these legacy infrastructures.

Backing up and restoring data at a 6-12 school. Veeam allows me to keep our data safe and segregated. We back up daily with full and incremental backups. We back up to disk and then to tape and store tapes offsite. We back up Faculty and Student information daily. We are always worried about ransomware but are using Veeam in order to safeguard our information.
  • Easy backups
  • Back up VMware Servers
  • Create snapshots easily
Being able to restore a whole VM has been the most useful tool I have used and being able to restore snapshots to a particular point in time has saved us countless hours of work.

We use Veeam to back up our workstations, servers, and virtual machines. The server repository remains on-site but is copied to tape on a daily basis for off-site storage. We use these backups for file-level restores, as well as full OS-level restores during disaster recovery or in the case of ransomware.
  • Creating reliable backups
  • Logging during the backup process
  • Incorporating new features
  • Ease of use
  • Canceling backup jobs that are currently running can be a pain.
  • Veeam customer support can be arrogant and assuming, even when proven incorrect on details during a service ticket.
Disaster recovery and file or database restoration.

Veeam Data Platform assists us with backing up our on premise servers as well as replicating/copying our backup server to another backup server at a 2nd off campus site. We setup backups to auto run nightly and then copy to the office site once a week over the weekend. Overall there doesn't require much intervention.
  • scheduling of packups
  • easy to use without much training
  • even if it's manual, checking for a successful backup
  • It's not the platform but it'd be nice to have our rep recommend features that would fit in our budget
  • It'd also be nice to have a review of our setup to see how we could improve
Our System Administrator has had minimal issues when setting up and troubleshooting the project. He also is able to test backups manually without issue. It also fits into our budget nicely but I do wonder what options we are missing. We do not have the immutable back up storage option which may be our next step to improve our disaster recovery plan.

The basic in having an IT that is stable and can be trusted is good backups. We use veeam for that and it always helped us with problems or last files or stange behavior of vm servers. Check daily if the backups are usable and when needed use them to fix the problems with your servers easy with veeam.
  • restore windows files
  • restore entire VM
  • Duplicate the backups to 3 locations
  • sometimes the backup that it says is there isnt
  • it is sometimes slow
  • searching is not everywhere accurate
For all our servers and users who use them it is very easy to ask to look things up if they want to see in the past what is changed or deleted in a raw database or files. The IT crew can support them very well with this. thank you

We're using Veeam as our data backup solution. It works great and we appreciate the features it offers compared to other backup options. We were previously using Symantec and it did not match up to the robust features Veeam has to offer. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a backup solution to at least demo this product.
  • File and folder recovery
  • Streamlined backups
  • Replication
  • So far we are happy with all the features we are currently using.
Compared to our last backup solution, I would highly recommend Veeam. We used Symantec previously for our backups and it was cumbersome and lacked the necessary features we needed. When we demoed Veeam, we knew right away it was going to be far and away a better product that would suit our needs.

Veeam Data Platform is used to manage our onsite and offsite replication of our virtual servers. It has been a vital resource in restoring critical information that was lost during hardware failure. It is easy to configure and is a must have application for any small to medium business that is managing a server environment.
  • Restores can be stressful, Veeam Data Platform makes them easy
  • File level restores are very useful
  • GFS is easy to understand and configure
  • Can de difficult to workout where the bottleneck in the backup process exists
  • Assigning credentials for guest processes can be tedious
Veeam Data Platform is great for any business case where you need reliable software to manage your backup infrastructure, particularly when you have multiple platforms to back and want to replicate for immutability. Working in the education sector where budgets are often tight. Veeam Data Platform provides affordable solutions so that anyone can ensure they have a quality backup process.

We utilize Veeam to protect around 60 virtual systems and a few physical hosts. Probably the best feature we use is their ability to perform a sandboxed restore of systems for disaster recovery testing. We utilize the platform to spin to immutable tape as well as spin a copy off to Azure as well.
  • Sandbox recovery for validation is simple
  • Flexibility of backup targets
  • UI could use some work in finding features, etc.
  • Immutable backup requires a new setup of a backup target, can't convert.
Veeam is very much focused on virtual environments -- if you have a lot of physical systems, although they are supported, that is not Veeam's primary focus it would appear. The sandbox recovery for in-place DR testing is fantastic, and really makes our annual DR test and recovery of certain systems a snap. As you scale up, Veeam probably isn't a solution for really large environments, but for small to mid-size companies the price point and value is good.

Veeam is our go-to for backup and disaster recovery. Veeam Backup and Recovery allows us to maintain data availability and aid us in achieving mandated recovery metrics outlined in our Business Impact Assessment.
  • Veeam integrates with VMWare for seamless data backup and recovery operations
  • Veeam is easy to use and intuitive for our system administrators
  • Veeam supports hardware level snapshots on our SAN
  • Veeam supports AES encryption which is FIPS compliant
  • Veeam replication across sites is complicated and so far we haven't been able to implement it.
Supports encryption, integrates with VMWare/Vcenter. Ideal for VMware shops.
Veeam supports many well known hardware vendors for SAN and tape backup.
Offsite replication has been a challenge to implement and we are considering alternate solutions.
While relatively costly we feel that safeguarding data availability it is worth the expense.

Veeam Backup and Replication is our primary method of backing up our VMware environment. We use it for multiple layers within our VMs such as OS file backups and SQL databases. It has also provided a great option when having to migrate VMs to different environments. We've thoroughly tested the Veeam backup solution for both backup and restore, and it has been robust for the many years we've been using it.
  • Reliable Backups
  • Quick Restore Options
  • Clean and Intuitive UI
  • Application Aware Backups
  • More modern UI
  • More feature rich web interface
  • Proxy Templates
If you need a clean, reliable backup solution, Veeam is the answer. Veeam allows for a lot of customization to tailor it to your needs. If you need to backup and restore at the system file level or need a SQL database backup solution, this is it. If you're looking for a modern looking application with an easy button, then this might not be for you.

We have been using Veeam Backup and Replication for our Windows Environment going on three years now. Coming from MS DPM it is a huge step forward for us. Usability is simple, it functions, and you always know what is going on. It would be nice to see native support for the KVM Hypervisor as we lose a lot of cool functions do to us using that Hypervisor but basically you just treat it as a physical machine, and you are good to go. Would highly recommend it to anyone needing a good reliable backup solution which you can easily offload to the cloud or to another instance in another location.

  • Fast reliable backups
  • Browsing of AD Objects for restoration
  • Browsing of SQL for restoration
  • Bare Metal restoration
  • File level restoration
  • Hypervisor Support
  • Expand Cloud replication provider support
All our scenarios that we have come across we have found Veeam to be suited for. It is highly suited for any Windows environment. Active Directory Backups, Sharepoint, Exchange.

We are currently using Veeam to back up and restore our company data. I have set up new back ups and processed a few restores using the software. It works well and performs as I expect it to. I have used other programs in the past, and Veeam is easy to use and learn.
  • consistant
  • clean and easy to use
  • Great reporting
  • resource hungry
  • often have to restart the server to perform a recovery
  • Can't recover and back up at the same time.
As I have already stated, we use it primarily for back up and recovery of data. It does a well enough job of that. I have not had any issues with the service, aside from having to clear jobs it is working on and restarting the server to be able to recover data.

Veeam Backup & Replication is used in my organization to backup various workloads including Windows and Linux OSes on virtual and physical hosts that are either on-premises or cloud-based options. The backup software is easy to use but also allows for specific settings per job, allowing for easy to complex solutions for your backup needs. The software is an enterprise-class solution that is readily available for all businesses small to large.
  • Easy to create backup jobs with complicated processing needs
  • Backup jobs can be created which are application-aware, such as MSSQL
  • Restores can be done from VM/instance level all the way down to specific files
  • Migration of backup jobs from one storage option to another would be ideal
  • More specific information when a backup job has grown excessively compared to other backups over time
Veeam Backup and Replication is well suited for both on-premises and cloud-based workloads. Our deployment covers workloads from within VMware, Azure, and AWS. Built-in capabilities for mounting cloud-based storage are a great feature. For our deployment, we have not had any issues where Veeam Backup and Replication is not the right fit.

The created Backups get checked every Week. So in a emergency we can fully trust these backups that a recovery will work. The Recory Process workd very flawless and fast. Integration with our used products (vmWare, HP Nimble, NAS) works wihtout any Problems.

Also delegating differnet workloads to your collegues is really easy. The Licensing of the product is also very easy to understand.
