I manage the infrastructure for a multi-location construction company. We use the Veeam Data Platform Backup and Replication software to backup our onsite point of sale and file share servers and high importance user machines to a centralized data server at our main office. The backed up data is then backed up again to an offsite server. We prefer to have an onsite solution and access to our backups for instances where the internet is not available. It can also be quicker to access this data locally than it would be to download it all from a cloud repository. When it comes to restoring a machine, Veeam Data Platform makes it easy and saves my department a ton of time. Also, the ability to pull only selected files is incredible, especially when users accidentally change, move, or delete files on the public file share.
  • Full machine restore from server
  • Guest file restoration
  • Ease of installation on the guest machine
  • Ease of connecting the guest machine to the server
  • The Backup and Replication program is a little slow to open on my server
For my particular scenario, Data Platform is perfect. It backs up my companies important information to a local host that is easy to access when we need it, but also backs that up to an offsite location in the event of a major catastrophe. And the guest file restoration is a godsend for when users get a little over zealous and delete or change something they shouldn't have.

We have been using Veeam Data Platform as part of our backup strategy. In our Datacenter, we have physical and virtual environments where our main applications running are hosted. We use Veeam Backup and Replication as our main backup solution for those environments and we also use it to backup our Microsoft O365 data .
  • Data Backup
  • Backup & Recovery Software.
  • Cloud Backup
  • O365 backup
  • I would like to see the back up reports with more details and better recommendations.
  • I would be good to have better compression of the backups.
I think Veeam Data Platform has the capability to offer a comprehensive back solution for every backup scenario and needs. It has been one of the main backup solution we have been using for us to be in compliance with the company's policies. However, depend of the cloud platform you are hosting your application and taking in consideration the cost you have to transfer outbound data from your cloud provider, I think Veeam Data Platform is more suitable for backing up on-premise data.

We use Veeam for both on-site and off-site backups of our entire in-house VMWare environment data center. We have Veeam scheduled to back up our database servers every 10 minutes and several of our more important VMs every 2 hours. We also have a "daily backup" that gets all VMs each night. On top of these, we have a continuous backup running to an off-site location through a site-to-site VPN tunnel. Veeam support was fantastic in helping with some of the issues we encountered when setting things up initially. By using Veeam, we have saved dramatically on our IT spend: 1) After replacing our datacenter SAN and hosts, we were able to add some drives to re-use our old hosts as both on-site and off-site backup servers. 2) Doing this with Veeam allowed us to eliminate managed service and cloud hosting costs we had paid for years and instead implement our own off-site storage 3) I am now able to manage and prioritize backups, expedite restoring files or VMs when needed, and have greatly improved visibility into our backup environment.
  • Backup VM.
  • Snapshot VM.
  • Replicate continuously to off-site backup.
  • The UI could be a bit better.
  • The terminology used in the interface could be cleaned up or easier to use.
  • The continuous backup data could be better integrated into UI visibility.
  • Explanations for errors and failures would sure be nice... "Host discovery failed." What host? What failed? Everything looks fine.
If you are looking to implement a robust backup solution with configurations anywhere from daily to 10 minute increments, Veeam provides the tools to set yourself up with a reliable backup platform. They also give you the tools to use your own resources for off-site backup, which can make for huge savings whether you have your own secondary site or use colocation in another data center.

Veeam Data Platform is currently used to protect VMWare environment, both via VM backups and site to site replication. In addition Veeam Data Platform agents are used to backup data via agents.
  • Worry free VM backups (full and synthetic)
  • Scheduled replication of VM's for BCP purposes
  • Agent based backup of files and SQL data
  • Better management of adhoc VeeamZip backups would be helpful but its already pretty good
  • Application Interface could use a more modern facelift
For small to mid-sized businesses, particularly those with hybrid cloud (or those who are in the migration process) Veeam Data Platform can be your best friend. I have not used Veeam Data Platform in a multiple backup server scenario and am hesitant to recommend but the functionality is available.

We utilize the Veeam Data Platform extensively within our organization to address critical business challenges and ensure the security and availability of our data. Our use case primarily falls into Data Backup and Recovery.
Veeam Data Backup & Recovery software solutions is central to our data backup and recovery strategy. We use it to create regular backups of our critical data across various platforms, ensuring that we can swiftly recover in cases of data loss, hardware failures, or disasters.
  • Veeam Data Platform is its user-friendly and intuitive interface.
  • Exceptionally robust in safeguarding our critical data.
  • Veeam's help and support services have exceeded our expectations.
  • Changes have been made to the licensing model, and it has not always been clear to us how these changes affect our usage and costs. It would be beneficial if Veeam could provide more detailed and user-friendly information about licensing terms, pricing structures, and any modifications to ensure that users have a clear understanding of what is required and what they are entitled to. Improved transparency in this regard would help us effectively plan and budget for our data management needs and reduce any potential confusion or uncertainty surrounding licensing.
Veeam Data Platform shines in virtualized environments. Its ease of use and straightforward interface make it particularly well-suited for protecting and managing data in virtual machines. Whether it's backing up, replicating, or recovering virtualized workloads, Veeam's capabilities in this area are top-notch.
When it comes to data recovery tasks handled by IT teams, Veeam Data Platform proves highly effective. IT administrators can easily perform data restores, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of data-related issues. But there are some challenges when it comes to delegating restore tasks to helpdesk personnel or non-technical users. The administrative interface could benefit from improved features for delegation and role-based access control to streamline this process. This limitation can make it less suitable for organizations that rely heavily on helpdesk teams for routine data recovery tasks.

We currently use Veeam as our back-up software. With the continuing updates, this software has allowed us to make direct connections to various cloud storage vendors, hence, allowing us the security of off-site backups. We feel that with the automation and granularity of this software we can create various types of backups and schedule them oat various times. The restoration process is also very simple to follow. Lastly, the customer support is fantastic. With the embedded ability to create log files and push them to support, resolutions are performed very quickly.

The primary use of Veeam is to back up our entire domain infrastructure. We encountered one minor issue with the Sure Backup feature. The implementation and configuration were not set properly. As for the recovery application, this product is amazing. The ability to back up VM and restore as a File Level Restore (FLR) was awesome. Made recovery and restore processes very quick and simple.
  • You can drill down to find files or folders quickly for restoring.
  • The monitoring and reporting tools helps us identify any VM issues before reaching a major disaster.
  • Product Support was always available and extremely helpful to address and solve any issues we encountered.
  • The benefit of having Veeam Data Platform product is it works well and save us lots of storage space with the advanced algorithm and deduplication process and the compression ratio is economical.
  • The software product has a friendly GUI. With proper training and navigating through the product section a few times, you'll become a pro at no time.
  • Our Director loves hearing that we have a secure backup which reduces our risk from being compromised with the comprehensive product feature and data security that this product protect.
A few years back, we had a blackout from a lightning storm that stuck close to our data center, and one of our clusters got corrupted. With the aid of Veeam Support and dedicated teamwork, we were able to rebuild the cluster and restore the entire data from Veeam within 72 hours. Thanks to this product and the Veeam Support team, we really trust the product to do its work when it is truly needed.

Here we use Veeam to give us a powerful backup solution. We utilize an on-premises solution and also have Azure backups through Veeam. This product is quite amazing and allows you to have peace of mind within your organization. I have roughly 30 something VM's that are backed up nightly and never have issues with this product. I came from a few other environments where I had hundreds of VM's and multiple locations all with Veeam. It was fun to learn and see how it scales at that size. I'm fairly confident that this product can scale to any size company with great efficiency. I even use it at home in my own lab environment and it works amazing there as well. Granted I have expensive hardware tossed at it, but either way, this is one awesome product. Recommend to everyone in need of a backup solution. If you are broke, they have a community edition you can use for 10 machines at the least! Couldn't ask for a better product.
  • Scales to any size environment.
  • Works with almost any network or cloud device.
  • Allows many levels of automation.
  • Gives an organization peace of mind that their stuff works.
  • Amazing customer support.
  • Crushes every product out there for backups. There IS nothing better.
  • Sometimes different backup methods using different tiers can be challenging. Typically have to work with support on that as the documentation is pretty good, but it's also too much at times. I think they'd do better if they did more visual examples. It's their product, they'd benefit.
  • Every now and then it doesn't clean snapshots from VMware and then keeps creating them until you can't anymore. I would highly suggest they work right with VMware to fix that. Been a problem for long enough.
  • The last area Veeam can improve is being able to cook and clean for me. If Veeam could do that, I surely wouldn't need to waste my money on an expensive wife and kids.. Those things are overrated anyway, all they do is eat your food and complain. Veeam could definitely beat that if it made food, just sayin..
I worked for a publicly traded company and they didn't have ANYTHING for backups. I was blown away and could not believe that. All they did was take manual, not even automated, snapshots in their AWS tenants and Azure tenants. This company literally had themselves in the worst spot ever if they got hit with an attack. This was one company that could have greatly benefitted from Veeam. I tried to push it to them, but ultimately I ended up leaving as there was too much else not right there..

We use Veeam Backup and Replication for the obvious reason of backups. We have a lot of self-hosted virtual machines on an ESXI hypervisor that need to be backed up. Veeam does this job perfectly, and it has never been easier to do a file level restore for the end user or have the ability to restore an entire VM at a glance. The migration feature is extremely handy and made it very easy for us to migrate VMs from an old and outdated ESXI host to a new host. This process is not supported by VMware; a VM migration with Veam Backup and Replication made it extremely easy for us.
  • Backup of VMs.
  • Replication of VMs.
  • FIle Base Restore.
  • Migration of VMs.
  • There is nothing I do miss in Veeam.
  • There might be room for improvement of self-hosted appliances.
  • More support for hybrid environments.
Backing up to multiple storage points has never been easier than with Veeam. I would always recommend using Veeam for your backup strategy. Also, migrating VMs from older hosts is very easy with Veeam. Veeam would be less suitable for backing up user desktops. There might be other solutions for that.

Veeam is used to back up all our VMs and physical hosts; we also use it for replication, offsite backups, and DR testing. Before, it would require lots of manual work, but Veeam is fully automated and has very little user input. We also use Veeam to move VMs between data stores and hosts etc., without the need to have additional licensing with VMware.
  • Excellent backup of data/vm's.
  • Easy to manage backup copies, tape libraries etc.
  • Easy and fast to recover vm's or individual files.
  • Improvements could be made around tape library and media sets.
  • More advanced features for somethings like timeouts etc..
Veeam is just perfectly suited all around for backup and data protection and with the confidence of the data integrity and backup checks along with test restores and labs it just gives complete peace of mind.

We use the Veeam Data Platform for data protection and management of data solutions. We use it for normal processes such as data backup, recovery, and replication along with backup security and data observability. We have never had any issues with the product and use on a weekly basis. It's a little costly but you get what you pay for.
  • It is fast.
  • Dashboard is easy to use.
  • Our outside Helpdesk can log into it and work on it for us.
  • Price is a little high.
  • We get a lot of email from them.

We use Veeam for backup of virtual and physical devices. Snapshots are taken to disk and then written to tape on a daily basis, covering 3 TB of backups every day.
  • Incremental backups.
  • Virtual workload snapshot/backups.
  • Virtual workload test and actual restores.
  • Physical backup (issues post Windows updates needing restarts).
  • Physical test restores (recent improvements).
Star product in the virtual space. Regular and progressive updates to the platform by a company focused on the future. Great support team that takes ownership of any problems. Innovative solutions such as RestoreLabs that solves problems you didn't know you had. Physical backups check the box, and while definitely not the focus of the organization, do get the job done. Ditto for the tape space. Overall a reliable product with good support.

We use Veeam Data Platform and the free version of O365 to backup all of our physical and Hyper-V servers. We also replicate between sites for DR. We archive backups at each site for addition gap protections against ransomware etc. Exchange backups are also a part of the deployment.
  • Whole server image backups
  • Exchange granular backups
  • Site repliction for DR
  • Make image management a little easier to manage
As long as the system is properly configured and monitored I have never been let down when needing to recover granular items or entire servers. I used the replication abilities to migrate a small datacenter group of Hyper-V VMs to a new datacenter with zero downtime which was invaluable. I have also used the product in VMware environments where it was rock solid.

We needed a backup solution that we could trust to do the basics well. We needed SQL databases backed up consistently. We needed AD and other services, mainly file services, backed up as well. And we needed servers which are running the company applications to be backed up as one might expect.
  • Reporting is good
  • The actual backups are almost always good and if there are issues, Veeam tells us what happened
  • We like to use it for on premise and cloud, not every product can do both well
  • Reporting is good but could be easier to setup
Veeam Data Platform has been great for backups and restores. We had a serious outage and Veeam came to the rescue allowing us to restore quickly. We also trust Veeam to be configured to withstand ransomware attacks, always a major concern when it comes to backups. So far, we don't have any issues with Veeam.

All backup for 28 County departments are administered through Veeam
  • SQL restore

  • File Recovery
  • Copy to tape interfers with normal backups. Please create a process which tags the most current back to be copied to tape that will allow tape and disk backup to coinside.
The ability to see all backups and an overview of success and failures is very useful. Reports for VM's and other detailed reports might not be necessary for small users. Having options not to included data reporting to lessen the price may be appropriate.

We use VEEAM for backing up our virtual machines as well as physical machines using VEEAM Agent. We also make use of the "Backup copy" to get the opportunity to take air-gapped backups.
  • Central platform for all device backups.
  • Possibilities to perform a fast restore of data and machines.
  • Create a test environment out of a production environment easily on demand.
  • Performance could be better sometimes.
  • Error logs sometimes lead to wrong directions.
  • Combination of VEEAM Agent Free and Paid to better fit the demand.
Even for small companies VEEAM offers a great all in one solution for most of our scenarios, e.g. getting some machines backed up over an internet connection with 100 MBit/s without blocking the whole connection. The restore of a specific data file is well implemented even a restore of files based on a linux system are possible on windows.

Veeam is used to backup our critical production line workstations and both physical and virtual servers. We utilize the application aware processing for multiple Microsoft SQL databases that affords us granular restore ability for row and table data in 5 minute increments. This is vital for us as our production lines are high speed and a disruption that necessitates a restore from hours in the past is not acceptable.
  • We have successfully restored table data within Microsoft SQL multiple times. The restores are extremely fast, and our entry-level systems administrators are able to action the requests.
  • Veeam application updates and upgrades are very east to apply.
  • Backups are efficient and fast, which has lowered our backup time windows.
  • The storage tiering can be confusing to setup and maintain. The settings windows for this have not changed in years and seem outdated. An overhaul of the interface would be welcome.
Veeam has been the go-to backup platform for me in every place of employment since 2010. It is extremely reliable with excellent customer support, and the product is very quick and efficient for both physical and virtual workloads. With the recent change to reintroduce per socket licensing again, the product is even more cost effective.

We are using the Veeam Data Platform to provide both bare metal and data backups for all of our mission critical servers. The business problems that are addressed for us is disaster recovery for our servers. Due to the nature of the industry we work in and provide services for, we cannot afford any lengthy amount of downtime rebuilding criticial infrastructure servers should anything happen to them. With the Veeam Data Platform, we are able to quickly restore servers as needed without overly long outages.
  • Intuitive UI that's easy to follow
  • Efficient backup/restore features
  • Notifications of job success/failure
  • I'm overall satisfied with the product, can't think of any improvements.
We have had servers in the past where they would go down without notice and was lost. This also applied as a test of the platform to verify that it was capable of doing what we needed it to do.

Veeam is a great backup solution for our environment. It is used to run used for monthly backups and also for reverse incremental backs throughout the weekdays to allow for quick and easy recovery. With each backup we then put it onto tape and move the data off site for a more secure and long term solution. Veeam allows us to manage all of this in one simple location.
  • User friendly
  • Automation to save data
  • Tape management
  • Simple data recovery
  • Pricing for cloud backup
Over Veeam is a great solution for any medium to large company. Support is friendly and knowledgeable. We use this to backup our virtual servers in vCenter. We also have the backups replicate to the cloud and to external HDD. Veeam has always worked very well for me, it's simple to setup and use yourself. Their support is very good and will get back to you quickly if you have an issue. It's much less expensive than Barracuda and is way more user friendly.
  • Low cost, easy renewal
  • User friendly
  • Upgrades to vCenter tend to mess my backup data and jobs up. The ability to link a VM in the old vCenter to the same VM in the new vCenter.
