Our organisation uses Veeam Data Platform Backup and Replication as both a local backup solution, and as a Disaster Recovery solution via replication to a Veeam Cloud Service Provider. The solution protects 30 virtual machine hosts, and provides us a comprehensive solution, which is extremely cost effective at this scale.
  • Integration with Vmware vSphere
  • Integration with Veeam Cloud Service providers for seamless replication
  • Application-centric recovery to ensure application consistent backups
  • No ability to integrate with Google Workspace workloads
I think it's an excellent, easy to configure platform for both on-premise workloads, and many cloud-based scenarios - if you're using AWS, GCP or Azure. However currently no support for Google Workspace, so this is a shortcoming for the education sector which is often heavily Google based.

We recently moved from another product to veeam, as a small company we were looking for an affordable and robust disaster recovery solution. The pricing on our previous solution had become an issue for us. We use the product to protect several windows workstations and 35 hyper-v guests.

We found the initial set up to be very easy and it is simple to test backups to ensure confidence in the product
  • Protecting virtualised workloads
  • Test restores to verify backups
  • Flexible Licencing
  • Clearer error messages when there are issues.
  • Documentation could be fuller
Perfect for virtualised environments although you can protect workstations and physical servers.
For protecting NAS the solution works well but pricing is less exceptional.

For those who need to verify backups regularly the test restores are very easy and give confidence in the product.

The licencing model gives good flexibility as business requirements change.

Veeam Data Platform has been our replication solution for our VMware environment for several years. The integration and ease of use when dealing with VMware hypervisors made it an easy choice. As the cyber threat world evolved, we looked at several options to either enhance our backup and replication strategy, or to replace Veeam Data Platform all together. Several factors contributed to our decision making process such as ease of management, compatibility, licensing, cost, and feature set. In the end, our decision was to keep Veeam Data Platform. The product set has evolved over the years to handle the threats we see day to day.
  • Ease of management platform
  • Integration with VMware
  • Integrate with immutable storage
  • Ability to customize retention periods without setting up new jobs.
  • Backup/Replication of physical database servers
In my opinion, if the vast majority of your compute environment is VMware based, Veeam Data Platform is great solution that allows for flexible backups and replication across on premise and cloud storage. The ability to manage immutable copies is a must with todays cyber threat landscape.

A couple of years ago, we had a natural disaster happen very close to the station. This raised the risk of total destruction for all information that we have here. With Veeam Data Platform, we can replicate and rebuild our systems when needed. This has been a breather for my part without the risk that one day, I can come to the station and everything is gone. The GUI is rather intuitive and does not require a large amount of knowledge to start backing up right away. We use Backblaze and the integration with Veeam Data Platform has made the work seamless.
  • Organizes and works well with backing up certain drives.
  • SQL backup makes it much easier than backing up a whole server.
  • Integration of auto-update or upgrading.
Pretty much any large or medium sized entity that requires the use of multiple servers, computers, and crucial information. Backed by a B2 Bucket system like Backblaze, you can be fully integrated with local storage via a NAS and cloud redundancy. We do not currently do it, but there is the option to backup personnel computers in case of information lose.

We are backing up over 240 servers to a EMC Data Domain. We have also used Wasabi as an immutable storage location.
  • Failing over 240 servers to our DR location within 40 min. (with multiple plans)
  • I would like to see orchestrator added to the base purchase.
Veeam is a great product for backing up data, replicating data and setting up automated testing (additional purchase of Veeam Orchestrator is required)

Veeam was utilized as our primary backup and recovery solution. It was frequently used to recover incorrectly deleted data from server shares. It was also integral to our disaster recovery plan with our laboratory services.
  • Ease of installation
  • Easy interface which allows you to quickly create a backup plan
  • Quick and painless to use when backup or total recovery necessary.
  • Better error handling and reporting when backups fail.
  • I dislike having to manually enter a key code on renewal.
  • Provide a guided walkthrough and provide tips when creating first backup plan.
After a serious attack we were able to quickly restore multiple servers in a matter of a few hours with very little disruption to business.

We have around 120 tbs of data and using veeam as one of my main data replication strategies has served me very well. The support for this product is excellent and literally any issues I typically encounter are solved within the first few responses with their support team. That being said the easy to use platform around spinning up a backup is incredibly useful and easy to do. I was even able to walk through all of my helpdesk staff on how to do this and spin up guest OS's to recover dead files. I really can't say enough good things about Veeam and I'd highly recommend them to any person in the IT field looking to supplement their disaster recovery policies, or make a new one centered around veeam.
  • Instant recovery of files
  • Instant failover of VMs
  • Ease of use to use their backups
  • Response time for support for tier 1s could be better
  • At least version 11 can be a little laggy
  • UI could use some work.
Veeam I think is probably the best for smaller data sets. I know I have 120 tbs, but I do have those busted out into incredibly small jobs replicating to my QNAP. I have worked pretty hard to ensure that recovery time for just about anything on my network is down to minutes and not hours depending on the size of the vm and the location of the vm.

We use it back up all our VMware network. That gives us a full back of every server and VDI desktop. We also have 2 other backup solutions in place. Veeam is mostly use to restore user profiles.
  • Backup just work

  • Logging for failed backups
If you want something easy to setup and just works Veeam is a good option. Mounting a full drive is easy.

Veeam Data Platform is our primary backup and recovery software solution.
  • Installs easily
  • Data replication between sites
  • Integration with Microsoft products
  • Creating a single file for a backup job or server
  • No central scheduling in B&R
  • No central account management in B&R
I think it is great for environments that are 100% virtualized with minimal large systems.

We use Veeam Data Platform to handle all of our backups for our server estate. The product makes backing up so fast and seamless compared to another product we used to use, it offers great flexibility and major scalability with great support from the software vendor if needed. Updating is made a cinch and doesn't require any downtime from our side and the backups just pick right back up where they left off if they hit a snag.
  • Immutable storage
  • Ease of configuration and use
  • Clear and concise GUI
  • Detailed reports on each job
The product is well suited to our use case, it pulls the data from our storage snapshots and saves on bandwidth usage. The backups are incredibly fast compared to our previous solution, for example, one job used to take around 9 hours to complete and with Veeam Data Platform it completes in under 20 minutes. No brainer really

We use Veeam Data Platform as our primary backup solution for our physical and virtual infrastructure, after a long history of using various backup products my advice is Veeam Data Platform should always be in consideration for any company implementing or replacing their current back up strategy. The product is so efficient on storage space and features like replication and copy backup help implement a great DR strategy too.
  • Instant Recovery
  • Never had a corrupt restore
  • Storage Efficiency
  • GUI Navigation
I used Veeam Data Platform to restore 11.8TB of data after a SAN crash/corruption, utilising the Instant Recovery feature the site was back online in 30 mins and total restore and functionality in 3 hours 15 mins - coupled with 4 hours of testing the customer was very happy the backup and DR solution was well executed. Copy backup were also on a cost effective Synology NAS but were not required as the primary source were 100% recoverable.

We use Veeam as a backup resolution. Veeam collects backups of our servers, and core switches. I also use Veeam to back up our Lab data to a NAS, mostly we utilize Veeam to create back up Disk rather than in the cloud. We will continue toto use Veeam for our on-prem devices but will transition over to cloud later.
  • Veeam organizes the data in an easy to find manner.
  • Veeam provides multifactor authentication for more security.
  • Veeam backs the data up in increments rather small or great.
  • More platform options like Mobile Apps
  • more custom features
  • more integration features.
Veeam Data Platform was most important to our company because it provided backups as an option for all of our data. We were under review for the FDA and there are certain guidelines that need to be followed, providing Veeam backups helped us surpass our review. There was a scenario where I needed to back up the lab data, the Veeam cloud option didn't seem like it would work as well as the physical NAS, but that is personal preference.

Several years ago and several versions ago, we switched to Veeam after having multiple bad experiences with other backup solutions. It has always been easy to use and dependable. We run back up locally, remotely, and to the cloud with no issues. Over the years, we have done hundreds of different restores with no issues. We stay with them because there is just never an issue.
  • Simple setup.
  • Fast backups.
  • Easy to understand and use restores.
  • NA
Most of our scenarios have been either a full server restore or restoring specific files that have been corrupt or lost. Never have we had an issue restoring data due to Veeam.

We currently use Veeam Backup & Replication within a supported client environment. This client has roughly 14x total servers, of which 11x are VMs and 3x are host servers. Veeam Backup & Replication is responsible for running nightly backups on all of these servers. We've found that it's an easy-to-manage, out-of-the-box solution for backing up both physical hosts and their associated VMs. We rarely have any issues that require reaching out to the Veeam Support Team and in the few instances that we have engaged their support, we've been impressed with their timely response and ability to assist with the issue at hand. The cost associated with the required Veeam licenses is slightly higher than some of the other backup solutions that we've worked with in the past. Still, we find that we have far fewer issues getting Veeam Backup & Replication to do what we need it to do and the time saved more than makes up for the higher price point that the software itself can carry.
  • Physical host backups
  • VM Backups and the replication of these to additional physical hosts
  • Reporting and alerting of any issues that may arise with the scheduled backup jobs
  • Lower cost of entry so we can onboard some of our smaller offices to this solution
  • Improved knowledge base article searching as it can be difficult to locate the correct information
  • Less nagging from sales team when renewals are approaching
We find Veeam Backup & Replication to be a more than satisfactory product that allows us to back up a number of physical hosts and their underlying virtual machines. The fact that it just works and requires minimal time to be sunk into correcting errors/issues is a big win for our team.

It helps us secure and replicate our backups. The information being secured is extremely sensitive and requires the upmost protection to prevent any sort of unauthorized access or intrusion. Making sure that it’s working properly is something we entrust to Veeam Data Platform.

We use Veeam as our server backup solution. It is utilized to store and restore our data nightly. All of our business is run from one server, so having a reliable backup solution is crucial. Not only are all of our records and project files from the last thirty-five years of business stored on the server, every employee utilizes it as a remote desktop. Keeping that data safe, accessible and usable is our number one concern. Veeam was introduced as a super solution to our problem.
  • Veeam makes it easy to find and retrieve back-up files.
  • Veeam provides easy to understand daily back-up reports.
  • Veeam sends out timely reports on the health and status of all drives being backed up.
  • Veeam can be daunting to initially install and set-up.
I am unaware of a scenario where the use of Veeam is less appropriate. I think it can be adapted for all uses. However, it is probably overkill for a personal system.

In my experience, Veeam Data Platform is very easy to implement and manage. We are using it to do onsite backup for our infrastructure. We are currently a version behind. We like to wait with implementing new versions until a dot version is available. Backups are running quickly, and reporting is great. The tool adds a lot of new features, which we are looking forward to evaluate and implement if time comes.

We manage in-house Exchange for email. We use Veeam Data Platform to backup databases to have an off-prem safety net and the product was simple to deploy. Over the past 14 months we have had some small issues and Veeam Data Platform support was responsive and quick to resolve the issues. We are looking into their air-gap technology and may move to that system by years end.
  • Easy to set up
  • Quick Support
  • Easy to operate
Veeam Data Platform was easy for us to setup. We were shopping for email database backups when we selected Veeam Data Platform. It is easy to operate, and does just as we want. We dont need bloat, just a secure off-prem back up of our databases. I liked the "no bloat" approach. We bought what we needed and were not constantly upsold on other things. It was nice seeing the air gapped option, but it was presented in a non harrassing way like most vendors do.

Veeam is a trusted name in the industry and one we trust with our backups, Their tool makes it easy to go in and get the data you need as well as set up different retention policies for different servers, etc.
  • Provides peace of mind.
  • Provides easy access to the data you need.
  • Allows different retention types as different types of data need to be held onto longer than others.
  • A web-based client would be nice.
  • Price could be more affordable.
It does a good job of giving us peace of mind for our Disaster recovery plan. It makes getting the files you need easy and allows for different settings for different types of backups; for some servers, you may need to only backup once a week and keep 2-3 copies, but for others, you may need to do it daily and keep several daily, weekly. Monthly. And even a yearly copy of it.

It’s our main backup tool for all our servers we’re hosting within four data center. Additionally we started to us it for M365 data backups. My main responsibility is the usage of transactional-consistent backups for our main databases SAP HANA (Backint interface) and Oracle (RMAN interface). For both of these we’re using the Veeam plugin.
  • Parallelism
  • Performance
  • Ease to use
  • Stability
  • High-Availability
  • Maintenance without downtime
  • Linux instead of Windows for the VBR
Overall it’s really fitting well for database backups, the configuration itself is really easy and the very positive thing is, that the database tools like SAP HANA Cockpit or HANA Studio can still be used for most of the administration activities regarding the backup. the problem is: Stability Stability and Stability. Backups are failing far too often including the maintenance of the Veeam is not possible without downtime, which is not acceptable for such a main backup environment.

We needed a high quality backup tool to back up a handful of traditional physical servers we had system-wide. After researching, Veeam Data Platform seemed to be the best choice. Since then we have also used Veeam Data Platform to back up systems that needed application-aware backup like AD, plus one VM that needed a user-friendly GUI for restores.
  • Intuitive backup interface
  • User-friendly restore procedures
  • Very nice enterprise level URL to connect to each system
  • Need granular permissions within a Veeam B&R instance
  • More flexible backup scheduling capabilities
Keeping in mind we use Veeam Data Platform primarily for backing up physical Windows servers, it works great the vast majority of the time. It "just works" and users never have issues with performing restores. In my experience, when problems do occur they can be time consuming to resolve, but the overall experience has been very positive.
