Backup and copy backup jobs of the production systems using the 3-2-1 rule as a beat pracrice
  • Replication to DR environment
  • Backup Copy jobs to alternate destination
  • Isolated restores using surebackup
  • Veeam one monitoring
  • Scheduling needs to allow time selection for full backups to occur
I don't have any scenarios where it's not suites because it serves our environment well for isolated restores testing and for fullfilling the 3-2-1 rule beat practice

We've used Veeam products for a few years now, and implementing Veeam B&R for some of our VM infrastructure was a natural next step: the interface is familiar, and the features are robust. We brought in a reseller to help with some of the setup (and to help make sure we nailed the best practices), and it's been working seamlessly since then. The biggest thing we're currently waiting on is the ability to seamlessly back up and bare metal restore SMB shares; we've been told that comes out in v12.
  • Simple and methodical VM backups.
  • Stable and well-supported.
  • Robust monitoring.
  • SMB bare metal restores (upcoming feature!)
We've been delighted with Veeam B&R for keeping our virtual infrastructure backups current. It does the job well and gives us a smooth transition when adding to the workload or changing things up on the fly. We're waiting on a few more features in the coming months, but it's been an excellent product.

We use Veeam to back up our two VMware clusters, which allows us to protect our users and infrastructure against user error or malicious actors. Veeam’s ease of use to restore items such as SharePoint elements, tables from a database or simple files makes our job much easier and reassures users in case of an issue we can restore data quickly and efficiently. We also make use of the Veeam tape function with a LTO library for offsite backups. After 5 years of using Veeam to protect our whole on-prem services and Office 365 I can’t recommend this product enough.
  • Speed of backups.
  • The number of applications you can restore data to.
  • Ease of use
  • PostgreSQL application support
  • Licence changes from sockets to VULS
  • More application item restore options
Veeam is an excellent product that is an excellent backup solution for any businesses, I work in the public sector so it’s important to keep as much data on prem as possible, Veeam is the perfect solution to protect our on prem infrastructure. For anyone in the public sector I can recommend Veeam backup replication as an excellent tool to backup and protect your data.

One of the key strengths of Veeam Backup & Replication is its ability to deliver fast and reliable backups for virtual machines (VMs). The product provides multiple options for backup storage, including local storage, cloud storage, and tape, ensuring that organizations can find the right backup solution for their needs. In addition, Veeam Backup & Replication integrates seamlessly with other tools and platforms, making it easy to use and manage.Another strength of the product is its ability to provide flexible disaster recovery options. The product provides the ability to replicate VMs and data to a remote location, helping organizations to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.Overall, Veeam Backup & Replication is a robust and reliable solution that provides a comprehensive set of features for data protection and disaster recovery. Whether you are working in a virtual, physical, or cloud environment, Veeam Backup & Replication is an excellent choice for protecting your critical data and applications.
  • Instant Recovery

  • Easy to use and learn
  • Linux B&R Server appliance
Scenarios where Veeam Backup & Replication is well suited:Virtual Machine Backup: Veeam Backup & Replication is well suited for organizations that rely on virtual machines (VMs) for their infrastructure. The product provides fast and reliable backup for VMs running in VMware or Hyper-V environments.

Scenarios where Veeam Backup & Replication is less appropriate:
Physical Server Backup: While Veeam Backup & Replication provides support for physical servers, it may not be the best solution for organizations that rely heavily on physical servers. In these cases, an alternative backup solution that specializes in physical server backup may be more appropriate.

While working in IT/OT industry for 20+ years I have experience working with a number of backup software vendors - Arcserve, BackupExec, Netbackup, etc. I found Veeam Backup & Replication is different from pretty much every perspective (in a good way =). First - customer support is on another. Starting with extensive, constantly updated Knowledgebase and best practice library, followed by huge community and forum 24/7 monitored by Veeam Backup & Replication employees and great, local to you, professional support. If you open the case you can make sure person assigned to the case listen you, trying to understand the problem and even level 1 support can do more then level 3 for some vendors. Second - approach to software releases. Last v12 being polished for longer then a year and I do appreciate it as I can be sure I don't need to wait for half a year after release waiting for all initial issues will be fixed. Last but not least - functionality of the product in most of the cases covering all possible DR scenarios you can imagine.
  • Workload replication
  • Immutable backups
  • SAN integration
  • Windows Failover Cluster backups
  • Flexibility in Tape backups
  • Publish Powershell modules in Powershell Gallery
From my point of view it may suit any scenario - from tiny business with free Community edition to Enterprises with Enterprise Plus version

We use Veeam Backup & Replication to back up our Virtual Server infrastructure on-premises and also use it to back up to the cloud for disaster recovery. We need the ability to be able to restore both files and also application items like SQL databases. We have up to 3 copies of every server in different locations and Veeam Backup & Replication gives us the option to do this easily. We are currently using the cloud backup as strictly a DR option as we have so many failovers on-premesis.
  • Instant recovery option
  • Quickly add and remove VMs
  • Connects to failover infrastructure
  • It doesn't handle running more than 4 tasks at once
  • It is a slow application to use and log into
  • When removing a portable hard drive used for a restore the terminology is a bit confusing
We found Veeam Backup & Replication to be great for backing up virtual servers and that is the only use we have had for it. From what I have seen in my experience, the live restore function doesn't seem to work on a VM more than 4TB in size. It gets to the 4TB and fails every time.

We use it for backups and replication of new clusters - daily backups, tape backups, and backups of remote sites.
  • Recovery!
  • Replication!
  • Usability
  • Automated scripting with UPS to hault backups if UPS is too low to provide power
  • More AI integration
  • Less Service Driven for Faster Application Startup
Restoring full VMs is excellent. I think in the event of a total disaster - Veeam may not be able to handle running everything but that has yet to be seen.

We use Veeam Backup and Replication for backing up various servers throughout the company. We currently backup over 15 servers on a continuous schedule multiple times per day. It handles Domain Controllers, File Servers, and numerous application severs. Most are virtual machines but some are also bare-metal. Different servers run on different schedules and number of snapshots is managed by the software to prevent the server from getting too full to work.
  • Snapshot and Backups
  • Backup scheduling
  • Snapshot and Backups mangement (file size and file deletion)
  • Ease of use
  • Takes a long time to open
Veeam backup and Replication is a must have for any computer or server that you need to have copies of. The way it automaticallydeletes excess backups to save disk space is invaluable. It really is "set it and forget it" until you need to restore files or images.Veeam Backup and Replication probably isn't needed for saving a few files or choice folders. It can also be a resource hog so end users need to be mindful when installing it on an environment.

Veeam is used to efficiently and effectively back up critical data within the data center
  • integration into virtual environement
  • speed of backups
  • easy access and restore of backups
  • only thing I could say is pricing, while good, can be a little better
Having worked with Veeam backup software, as well as others, on prem for several years, I can honestly say Veeam provides one of the best backup solutions in the industry today for handling physical servers and virtual datacenters. The interface is easy to understand, and you can be backing up your critical data securely and quickly. In addition, Veeam's scalability ensures that the software will easily be able to meet your data backup requirements today and tomorrow.

I have found Veeam to be the most comprehensive backup & replication system on the market. Whether you want to have a simple backup, running under legacy DR methods, or you want a modern backup scheme that is fully automated -- Veeam can do it all! We have recovered from a complete disaster in very little time thanks to Veeam. I would highly recommend it!
  • Simple recovery via bootable ISO
  • Tiered storage and the 3-2-1 model
  • Intuitive, easy to understand interface
  • Maybe some example videos/tutorials on more advanced backup schemes
Well suited for any scenario. Just like any other product, the only barrier to entry may be the price.

We use Veeam Backup & Replication v11 to back up all of our data in AWS. We store backups in S3 buckets or Glacier for archiving. It was pretty easy to set up and the restoration process so far as gone quickly and without issue. We are not using Veeam to back up any local data at this time. We are only using it for AWS EC2 instances and EBS volumes.
  • Easy to set up and use
  • Easy and straightforward recovery
  • Good customer support
  • Some of their documentation is hard to follow
  • More explanation on advanced features
  • More automation
I have only used Veaam Backup & Replication v11 within AWS and specifically EC2. We have used it for almost a year now (including the trial period) and it has been able to handle what we needed for simple backup and restore. The pricing is surprisingly affordable for licensing. I would recommend it for managing EC2 and EBS backups.

Veeam is useed on premise for day to day backup operations and also for replicating for DR purposes.
  • Ease of Use
  • Quick recover
  • Cloud backup
  • 365 backup
  • Dated interface
  • Sometimes overly complicated GUI
  • More integration with the cloud outside of Aws etc
This is great for a business that wants to protect itself ! The system is very easy to use and have backups and replications going very quickly. I wouldnt say any scenario would be inappropriate as smaller businesses could use the community edition which again helps with costs, its a vital piece of software and everyone should be encouraged to use it!

We currently utilize Veeam Backup & Replication for our system backups for our Virtual Environment, as well as a few physical servers. We utilize both the backup and the replication feature, create immutable copies, and replicate both to a cloud environment as well as a 2nd datacenter. Veeam Backup & Replication allows for regular DR testing, and I've utilized the instant restore feature a couple of times on a corrupted VM - it worked perfectly. Highly recommend this for DR and a backup system.
  • Very Quick CBT snapshot backups
  • Immutable storage backup and replication
  • VERY FAST restores for excellent Business continuity
  • Better help documentation within the program - you need to be an expert BEFORE a disaster strikes.
If you're running a virtual environment, you NEED Veeam Backup & Replication. It's the gold standard. Their agent for physical servers works pretty well as well. You can set your snapshots for backup and replication as tight as your servers can handle (usually 5-15 minutes) and can even do advanced snapshotting for exchange and SQL, provided that you have the IOPS.

Veeam allow us to manage M365 application data in an on-prem and off-prem data center. We found we want greater ability to backup and restore more M365 application data than Microsoft was giving us. Veeam allows the ability to pick certain users to manage rather all Active Directory users which would be much more costly.

  • SQL Recovery to instances, databases, etc...
  • Backup to the cloud
  • Follow-up of new implementation

We use Veeam Backup and recovery for daily, weekly, and monthly standard backups as well as for our ransomware / air gap server back ups. We snapshot servers before updating them in case of corruption or if the update fails. The snapshots have bailed us out of many a tight spot.We use replication for migrating servers from blade to blade and for the fail over and fail back .
  • Snapshots are very helpful
  • Server Replication
  • Easy file back up and restoration
  • ransomware recovery
  • It isn't cheap, but when you are good, you do not have to be.
  • Some of the setup was pretty time consuming
  • Some features can be slow. Restorations and roll-backs
If you are a small company with very limited funds and manpower, you may be able to get away with other products or put the funds towards more hardware, but if youa re a company who wants to invest in fewer salaries and letting technology take over, this is your product. The backup and restoration and snapshots can save you a lot of headaches.

We use Veeam Backup & Replication for our on-premise physical servers and our VM infrastructure, including the cloud. Our previous backup software did not have many of the features of Veeam Backup & Replication, including the ease of testing restores thoroughly and effectively. The other important feature is that Veeam Backup & Replication reduced our overall backup time by over 4 hours.
  • The speed in which backups are completed.
  • The detailed information about backup success or failure.
  • The ability to backup SQL databases is very granular and easy to restore.
  • The addition backing up physical hardware servers was an important feature for us.
  • The documentation of the test lab for testing restores should be emphasized more.
  • Because there are so many features, it is important to have help in initial setup.
In the past, when I looked at Veeam Backup & Replication, it did not support physical servers, only VMs. But now that it supports physical servers, we are able to use it. We are using it to send copies of our backups to our cloud for redundancy because it is so fast; our previous backup software was very slow sending backups to the cloud, making it useless for us. The granularity of being able to save SQL backups has really helped us, so we don't have to rely on SQL native backups.

I was using this product for other companies where they had bunch of virtual machines deployed in the exsi server, so it was proposed to use this software to create automatic backup of all virtual machines hosted in the exsi servers. Earlier to use this software either we have to stop the virtual machine to take the snapshot as per the OEM recommendation of that Virtual machine or need to take full back from the application itself and then build a virtual machine from scratch and restore this back to that new virtual appliance, Veeam software has reduced lot of painful jobs as well as the downtime of that server. So i recommend to use Veeam Backup solution for your backup needs.
  • We are having difficulty in taking virtual machine snapshot because it corrupted the running virtual machine, so as per the OEM recommendation we need to stop the application server it was the painful job for the system administrators to do it manually but this has been easily achieved in the Veeam Backup software
  • This takes the automatic backup in case of any issues in our virtual machine we had to deploy the VM from scratch and restore the backup it is time consuming painful job but using this machine we can restore the virtual as the latest one in the some of few clicks
  • This drastically reduces the downtime in our ESXI environment and very cost effective solution comparatively other vendors in the market
  • Automatic Network settings is not supported for non-windows VM, incase of needs then we need to manually specify network mapping settings and public ip rules, so it is hard that you should every time manually does this job
  • if you are encrypt the VM's then replication of encrypted vm's to a cloud host is not supported
  • For cloud connect replication it does not support dhcp, your replicated VM should have the static IP's
We used this application for the automatic VM snapshots and backups , its really exceptionally well in this area and it has reduced lot of painful job while restoring the manual backup from the application server and also it has reduced the downtime to the server with matter of few clicks you able to restore the virtual machine to the latest state. Automatic Network settings is not supported for non-windows VM, incase of needs then we need to manually specify network mapping settings and public ip rules, so it is hard that you should every time manually does this job if you are encrypt the VM's then replication of encrypted vm's to a cloud host is not supported. We use Veeam as a VM backup solution. Its application has a relatively low learning curve and the simplicity of how things work is an excellent point. Backup and restore tasks, in addition to data integrity checks, provide the necessary support to the manager in the architecture of his solution and data security plan.
  • VM backup.
  • Data integrity verification.
  • Automated restore.
  • Managing available storage can be complex due to retention policy options.
In general, the user experience is excellent, as the system is very suggestive, which facilitates the architecture of a backup solution. Very good for those who already have experience with backup management and other information security solutions, but also a good choice for those starting out. Among the solutions of the type on the market, I believe that Veeam offers the best and most cost-effective.
