Needs Assesment

Our organization needed an affordable backup solution for our AWS workloads that was reliable. Veeam seems to be one of the leaders in the industry and it seems to be for good reason. It was also important that the product was easy to set up and use and so far it has met expectations.

Cloud Capabilities

We use this product exclusively for AWS workloads in the cloud, including Windows and Linux servers and EBS volumes. So far, the product has done everything it has promised and we have been happy with it. Ease of use is a big selling point in my opinion. Restores have gone great so far.

The cloud based backup we had - failed to recover a LOT of data on a physical server where we had a RAID die. I was tasked with replacing it with something that would work.

Veeam has always been my go-to backup solution. I have used this so long that other solution seems antiquated. Cost for Veeam has seem to be the best suited for my company.

In my 13 years of using Veeam, I still have not found cloud backup has been feasible. The cost of cloud backup and replication has not been high on a cost perspective.

We didn't had a reliable backup system until Veeam Backup. They were slow executing the backup task and without so many integrations. When we changed to Veeam, everything went smooth since the beggining, and until today, we didn't had any problem whatsoever. It has been 6 years.

Yes, we did use this facility. It did benefit us quite a bit as we could always have access to a readable copy of the files from wherever we went.
This helped specifically during the server outages that we had faced due to the snapshot space being full on all our volumes.

We needed cost savings, and Veeam was much cheaper than that we were using for our previous backup solution, so we went this route. However, in my experience our previous backup solution was much more intuitive, easier to use, and less issue prone.

Cloud Capabilities

We are not using any cloud for any veeam purposes due to the connection speed and the amount of data we have.

We do all of our backups to a file share on a NAS. It works perfectly fine.

We almost certainly will continue using Veeam Backup & Replication software as our main solution for this kind of jobs. The only way we could consider stop using it, is if the price of the support would increase at insane levels, or another software is capable of offer the same features for less, which as of today, doesn't seem possible.

Veeam does everything it needs to, and it operates very well. It's licensed per CPU which means it doesn't matter how many VMs we run. It has yet to fail us, and we've definitely had to use it to recover not just file-level data but occasionally VMs in whole as well.

We really like the product and can't really complain about its performance at this point. We've also had it deployed for years and it would be difficult to migrate to another solution, not to mention hard to justify the cost of a new solution when this one is working as well as it is.
