Veeam Backup & Replication is used in my organization to backup various workloads including Windows and Linux OSes on virtual and physical hosts that are either on-premises or cloud-based options. The backup software is easy to use but also allows for specific settings per job, allowing for easy to complex solutions for your backup needs. The software is an enterprise-class solution that is readily available for all businesses small to large.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • NAS filers
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • Easy to create backup jobs with complicated processing needs
  • Backup jobs can be created which are application-aware, such as MSSQL
  • Restores can be done from VM/instance level all the way down to specific files
  • Migration of backup jobs from one storage option to another would be ideal
  • More specific information when a backup job has grown excessively compared to other backups over time
Veeam Backup and Replication is well suited for both on-premises and cloud-based workloads. Our deployment covers workloads from within VMware, Azure, and AWS. Built-in capabilities for mounting cloud-based storage are a great feature. For our deployment, we have not had any issues where Veeam Backup and Replication is not the right fit.
Our Veeam Backup & Replication deployment is protecting around ~200 virtual and physical workloads. Our workloads have grown since our initial purchase of the software, and this growth has not caused us any issues, Veeam Backup & Replication works for us. The solution is rock-solid for us and we would be happy to purchase again.
  • Positive: Easy restores, when needed, saves time compared to overly-complicated solutions
  • Positive: Auto testing of backup jobs gives peace of mind, but still test manually
  • Positive: Easily able to have multiple backup storage options, allowing you to diversify where your jobs go based on jobs or storage tiering needs
This organization had tried multiple backup products over the years. The adoption of Veeam Backup & Recovery has been a decision that has not been second-guessed. Prior products had difficulty taking care of transaction logs and other app-specific backup options. These issues have not been present with our Veeam deployment.
Our Veeam Backup & Replication deployment has been configured to allow for multiple jobs to run depending upon our risk acceptance of where and how long our backups are kept on-premise storage versus cloud-based storage. Through our Veeam Backup & Replication deployment, we have been able to easily set up geographically-separated regions where our backups are stored. While we have not had to utilize these redundancies, the ability to utilize them if needed is vital to our organization.
Prior to our migration to M365-based services, we utilized Veeam Backup & Replication for NAS-based backups. Direct integration with our appliances was a great feature, as it allowed for the middle man (me) to be removed from the equation. Since our migration to M365 products, some of our data had to be brought back in-house. These needs were solved with VM-based SMB shares, which we back up with Veeam Backup & Replication as a normal backup job.

The Veeam Data Platform is used by two individuals within my organization, but primarily, one individual is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the product. The reports generated from within the product are used for forecasting future growth or other needs, and are regularly presented to executive leadership.
2
The monitoring of backup jobs and other similar components can be done with basic user knowledge when provided the appropriate level of console, web, or email alerting.

The day to day operations are supported by one individual who has a systems administration back ground covering various on-premises and cloud-based technologies.
  • Backup of data from on-premises to cloud, and to backup data from cloud to on-premises.
  • Day to day monitoring of various virtual machines and environments.
  • The latest release providing native support for direct to object storage locations allowed for us to prove to our cyber-insurance company we have obtained fully immutable backups.
  • In the future, there will be some discussion over the Veeam Recovery Orchestrator and how we can incorporate that into easier disaster recovery testing.
I have used many other data backup products that are on the market. I trust the configuration options within Veeam to do as they are labeled, without any specific back end software changes that may cause backups to fail if you don't use a systems integrator.

I trust the product for my own home environment as well due to relationship I have with the product at work.
Yes
The Veeam product when initially purchased replaced various software options from DellEMC. While the DellEMC products were capable of providing trusty-worthy backups, the cost of the software and administration of the platform had pushed me into looking for alternatives. The ease of use of Veeam, along with relative lower cost, made the choice for the organization clear on changing solutions.
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
As previously mentioned on the review, the ease of use was a major deciding factor for the purchase of Veeam. The product is well documented and comes with a top tier level of support if needed. The ability to integrate with several different systems through native or other options within the software, also was a great benefit. However, the ability for the platform to provide backup protection across all of my workloads from on-premises to cloud solutions was the defining factor of the purchase and ongoing renewal of the product.
When looking at evaluation of other products in this space going forward, I would want to be sure I have a complete view of how various components of on-premises and cloud platforms can be backed up and managed within a single pane of glass. I don't want to have to use multiple tools to complete my work when there is no direct benefit from it.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
The implementation followed the traditional waterfall methodology of implementation. The phases were:

Requirements
Design
Implementation
Testing
Maintenance
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled
Change management is an ongoing process for the organization. We updated our processes within change management to now notate the use of the Veeam platform, while also going through the formal process of deploying Veeam by using change management. The process itself of Veeam implementation did not make any changes to our mature change management program.
  • No issues were encountered during implementation, significant or otherwise.
When deploying Veeam, be sure you have your environment right-sized. While it is not a big deal to increase capacity later, it will make a difference if you are trying to run Veeam on instances/VMs that are not appropriately sized on CPU and Memory requirements.
  • No Training
The product is very easy to learn the basics. I am a big advocate of any type of training if available, and Veeam provides great resources for those individuals who feel more comfortable learning at their own pace.
The Veeam Data Platform can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. The ability to do simple backups to complex backups involving tiering options within your storage object locations. The product provides a just right feel based on your own understanding of the product.
Veeam provides multiple resources on configuration of the platform using best practices. When deploying, you need to be responsible in following at least these recommendations as provided by Veeam:https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/2_Design_Structures/D_Veeam_Components/D_backup_repositories/
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
When we first implemented the Veeam platform, we opted for premium support. I don't think the need for premium support is there for my organization as we don't have issues justifying the spend. For us, the product runs without issues and doesn't have problems including after major platform upgrades. It is a solid product that I can't say enough words about.
No
I have not had to open a case with support over Veeam in sometime. The last time I engaged with any form of Veeam support was this previous year when I was renewing the product. I worked with my account manager, and she was able to help me very quickly on some questions I had about renewal.
Several years ago I had to open a case with Veeam over issues with backup jobs and a specific vendor device. The Veeam support crew was able to help me gather the information I needed to help me with the support case I had with the other vendor by pulling logs and other information for me.
  • The console is easy to use.
  • Creating backup jobs is a straightforward process.
  • The only aspect I have an issue with within the platform is when a backup job is renamed, the original name is still associated with the file path of the backup files.
Veeam Backup & Replication is easy to learn, easy to configure, and still has features that are as complex as you need them to be for specific jobs. The ability to have one platform to manage various backup types from on-premises virtual machines and physical servers, yet alone different types of cloud deployments, helps me manage my time I have dedicated for backups. The additional features of the platform from Veeam One for monitoring and reporting on my environments just additional benefits and time savings.
The solution is actively supporting multiple production load types, for both on-premises and cloud-based server environments. As we have deployed on more cloud-based platforms, it has been easy to integrate those workloads into Veeam.
I have not had any issues with the availability of the platform. The platform has been stable, and we update as needed for platform updates that are regularly provided by Veeam.
The platform runs very well. We maintain two servers for the deployment, one specific for Veeam backup and recovery, and the other for maintaining the Veeam One deployment. Our environment is a small deployment consisting of 13 servers and roughly 150 virtual machines, and our platform is sized appropriately for that deployment size. We don't have issues with report completion times or any other types of problems.
Veeam was very easy to work with during the sales process. I used CDW as my 3rd party VAR while purchasing Veeam, and the overall process was very simple to complete.
Veeam is very easy to contact post-sale. I have had questions I have directed to my sales representative for Veeam, and the response is always quick and to the point as needed.
Our purchase was originally for perpetual licensing over a 3 year contract, and since have migrated to a different license type. These negotiations occurred without issue and was a pleasant (as much as it can be) process.
I am very direct with what my requirements are and the budgetary spend I have. Being properly equipped with those two things, I have not had any issue when working with Veeam.
Yes
I have deployed several major platform upgrades within the Veeam platform. The upgrade process is a straight forward process. I have not had issues with deploying minor or major updates to the system.

We're a law practice with ever-expanding data sets to protect. Veeam Backup & Replication allows us to protect that data at a reasonable cost and complexity. It allows us to meet our RTO and RPO objectives and helps everyone sleep easier at night.
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Virtualized workloads
  • None of the above
  • None of the above
  • Protects our data with nightly incremental backups
  • Allows for quick restoral of data if needed
  • Can create new 'full backups' from data sets without having to perform a full backup
  • The interface is a bit clunky...I preferred it before they 'fisher priced' the interface
  • Support can be problematic, as it takes a while to get someone to respond to a ticket; that MAY be related to Covid
  • The cost has gone up considerably in recent years.
We're currently using it with physical servers, which doesn't seem to be the expected situation. It works, but all the documentation and the support people expect you to be running in a VM environment. We will be switching to VMWare shortly, but it's a bit annoying to have to keep correcting people and translating for our actual situation.

I've used other products that are better at protecting the data (faster backups, more recovery points), like the Datto Siris, but they're much more expensive. To protect the same size data set with Datto would require about $50,000 purchase and $5,000 monthly expenses.
We're protecting a single physical server with roughly 66 TB of data. That's what we expected to be protected, though the data set has grown (as projected)
  • It's greatly increased our recovery time for accidently deleted or damaged files.
  • It's greatly increased our recovery points.
I started working with this company recently. My predecessor was doing manual backups with robocopy jobs to NAS units. I was the trigger for changing.
We have not and have no interest in it currently. Our leadership is uncomfortable with privileged information leaving our premises, so he's generally opposed to the cloud.
We have not, as all data is on the single physical file server at present.

Both are full time IT Support
  • Recovery of accidently damaged or deleted files
  • Projecting growth by easily seeing how much data is changing
  • Ransomware protection
  • Sadly, we're pretty vanilla. Just using it to perform nightly backups and restore the occasional 'oops'
  • Again, we're happy with the basic functions
We're happy with the product and plan on continuing to use it. It does what we need it to.

I've used Veeam for 20 years. When I joined the organization late last year, I suggested it as a better alternative to the manual processes in place.
I actually didn't do much 'evaluation'. I put the eval version in place and started setting things up, then called to purchase.
  • Implemented in-house

Change management was minimal
The prior backup process was manual, and I wasn't given any documentation or training on it. Rather than trying to figure it out, we just deployed Veeam and setup three backup jobs (due to the size of our data set). We then started the jobs and hit the ground running.

We're running a single physical server, with two data volumes (35 TB and 25 TB) that are being protected.
  • The times for full backups. Each of our large data sets took a week or more.
The initial backups took FOREVER. We also can't do synthetic full, because they take a week or more.
  • No Training
I have used the product in the past, but not very recently. It wasn't horrible, but did require a lot of looking things up online for how to do things.
I actually think the product is starting to try to be too much for too many people. It's a great backup product, but I fear that with them trying to protect SaaS data too, they may loose focus on the servers, which is what I need them for. Luckily, i haven't seen that happen yet.
No, we just followed any online guidelines from Veeam.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
None. For us, it's largely a set and forget product. We get the daily notifications of the backups, and only get into the program itself if we have to do a restoral, or if there's been some issue or change that we need to make
No. We're a non-profit and couldn't justify the cost.
No
When I started with this organization and was starting the purchasing process, they had my predecessors predecessor on record with the company. She is deceased, so it was difficult to get the quote process working so we could purchase the product. The sales agent drug in support folks to get access to the account and get things changed over properly and we were able to get the quote.
Then, the actual reseller was sluggish to produce the quote and process the purchase... the sales agent again helped out getting things finalized.
Perhaps it's a remnant from Covid staffing issues, but it seems as though the entire support process takes longer now than it used to. It's not uncommon for a lower level support request to take more than a day before I receive the first human response. That said, I haven't had to use support often, so it's not been a major issue.
  • Sadly, none. The interface is very clunky and required a lot of looking things up.
  • Most things. The interface is very clunky, and needs to be redesigned. It required a lot of looking up reference material to figure out where something was. Luckily, that was mostly a setup issue.
The interface is counter-intuitive and clunky. Once things are setup, however, it's pretty decent.
It's available for SaaS products, single workstations, up to VM Clusters. It's very scalable.
We've had no application errors or unplanned outages, so we're quite happy with the product
It seems sluggish, but that could be a function of our equipment and data set. Restorals take about 15-20 minutes to process before we can choose the file and actually restore it.

Veeam has proven to be a fairly intuitive backup software that is much easier to use than some competing products. The software is user-friendly and is incredibly helpful in file recovery situations that require fast resolution. Our company replaced an outdated software with Veeam and are pleased with the results that we have seen even in just a few months we have been using their service.
  • Virtualized workloads

Veeam backup is well suited for small to mid-sized companies like the one I am a part of. The price point and the functionality of the software make the program well worth the investment and provide peace of mind when it comes to securing company data. Veeam could be an invaluable resource for securing data from ransomware attacks.
Veeam is currently backing up multiple virtual servers for our company. We anticipated that the software would be backing up all of these virtual environments much the same as the previous backup software had been doing. Veeam is lining right up with our level of expectation for use in backing up our company data files. It has met the mark for our expectations in this regard.
  • Higher cost than previous backup software.
  • More reliable than previous backup software.
The IT department for our company and the managed service provider that we contract, both had been working towards a new backup system to replace the outdated and troublesome backup system that had been in place for years and was slowly degrading. The push to move to Veeam was a decision based on the prevalence of ransomware attacks and our need for a newer, more versatile backup system.
We have not yet set up our cloud storage service as we are still in the process of transitioning our backups from our old system over to Veeam. The cloud storage and protection, however, are some of the main reasons that we decided to go with Veeam backup, to begin with.
We have not yet set up NAS/File-share backups with Veeam just yet. As previously stated, we are still in the process of transitioning our backup systems over to Veeam at this time. I feel confident that we will utilize this feature to ensure critical data is preserved on individual files.
1
The entire company server structure will be backed up using Veeam, but there will only be a single, primary user. The IT Department will be in charge of managing the data backup procedures and software and will run file recovery and restores as needed. Other employees will need to contact IT with a request.
1
There is one member of the in-house IT Department for our company, who will be in charge of maintaining the backup software and ensuring the integrity/success of the backups. Our in-house IT Specialist will remain the company point of contact and support for our backups for all company users.

We replaced our Quest Core Rapid Recovery backup software with Veeam. We decided to replace this software due to consistent issues with backups and poor customer support. We were also looking for backup software that would allow us the option to use cloud storage as a means of further protecting our data from ransomware.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
The single most important factor in our decision to purchase Veeam Backup & Replication was that it would allow us to store our backups through cloud services and would help to protect our data from ransomware attacks. As these ransomware attacks have become more common, our company became more concerned with the possibility of our data being compromised.
I do not believe that we would have changed our evaluation and selection process, but I do believe that we would have made the decision to move to Veeam sooner if we had to do it again.
  • Third-party professional services

Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled
Change management was limited in this implementation as only a handful of users in our company use the backup system.
  • Backup failure issues
In spite of the few issues that we had, the implementation was fairly smooth and we were provided with good support throughout the process by both Veeam support and our third-party MSP.
  • no training
Yes, the processes were very easy to learn with the help of the short, specific tutorial videos available on Veeam's website. They are a great resource and are incredibly helpful as opposed to clunky manuals that require scrolling through hundreds of pages to find the information you need.

We did opt for support through the initial purchase. We chose to add the support because it is imperative to have our backups fully functional at all times and to ensure that we can recover data with the help of professionals if we are in an emergency situation. The peace of mind alone is worth the additional cost.
Yes
Not so much a bug as an issue with how the software was running up against the old system that we already had in place. The issue was resolved with the assistance of Veeam support, who checked in regularly about the progress and success of our backup jobs. It took some investigation to determine the issue, but it was eventually resolved by a third-party MSP technician.
Veeam support was responsive to our request to determine the cause of backup failures. They worked directly with our IT resources on identifying the issue and what could be causing it. They were diligent in assessing the log information that we shared with them and made sure to check in regularly throughout the whole process.
They provided great support on the one issue that we have had thus far. I rated them at 8 for how quickly they responded to our request for support as well as for how responsive they were throughout the process. I was pleased with how they handled their communications with all of the people involved in finding a resolution.
  • File recovery
  • Automated backup schedules
  • Initial set up wasn't the easiest
  • Learning curve on any new software
Veeam is fairly simple in terms of how it is set up; its not an overly-complicated dashboard that can be intimidating to less technically-inclined users. Veeam also offers good instructional videos to help users work through how to do specific functions. I appreciate that they have specific video tutorials rather than having users scroll through a cumbersome manual.
In terms of scalability for our company, Veeam was able to cover our backup needs with ease. They have options for even more individualized backup if we were to need them; i.e. if a specific workstation needs its own independent backup. We have not used these resources yet, but I am confident they will be beneficial to our company in the near future.
Thus far we have not had any issues at all with accessing Veeam Backup software. The program has been consistently ready to go each time we have needed to use it.
Veeam does a good job with backing up our servers in a timely manner. We are still at the beginning of our Veeam use and are pleased with the speed at which we can access the system as well as the backups and restore points. Veeam is definitely superior to our previous backup system in terms of speed and accessibility.

We back up our production (primary infrastructure) hive via Veeam BR to a FreeNAS device. Some of these are virtual, done via vceneter tagging, the rest are physical, done via agents. We then copy the backup to another FreaNAS offsite.
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux

  • File Level Restoring
  • RPO based tag reading across vcenter
  • SQL truncation
  • Better interoperability with AWS tiers
  • Better design for the UI or description - currently too difficult to guess what does what
  • Can be very error prone even if a little scheduling conflict takes place
Appropriate:
Large production hives, where it's mostly VC based

Inappropriate:
Small to medium companies where servers need to be active a lot, leaving little in a backup window
Currently: 30+<br>Initially projected: 10+<br>More because our company grew
  • Scalable
  • Learning curve is smaller
  • Support is pretty great (though half the time)
Nothing. We just moved from Symantec to Veeam because it cost less.
Not yet. Cloud integration (AWS) is still pretty wonky at best.
Yes. We have added an array of very inexpensive NAS solutions, and they work as just as well as any premium-grade ones, thanks to Veeam. We managed to leverage this for both backup and backup copy.

Use it for a month or so, test out in a sandbox, push it far and see how that pans out.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
Test with one VM
Implement with initial VMs
Scale out over time
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
Watching training videos again and again. Thinking of scenarios where it might fail, testing it out the best we can.
  • Learning the new systems
It was a challenge we loved
  • no training
Absolutely. Self taught using manuals and videos means you are bridging the gap, not some statement made in a session recorded.
It is pretty scalable, but configuration is mired with technical brick walls
None. The design seems bad enough to warrant that change first.
No - there is no facility to customize the interface
No - the product does not support adding custom code
none, there is nothing available
Yes
we already do

They helped us configure a S3 offloading scale out repo.
Support is amazing when they get to it or you get the right people on it.
  • File level restore
  • Creating an ad hoc backup for existing VMs
  • S3 setup
  • setting up repositories not in house
  • managing backup copies
  • managing backups from older operating systems

Tough but fair. Has a lot of things, but not easy to get to. Not everyone's cup of tea
It is very scalable if you know the advanced features and how it works. For example, RPO tagging means I can just use vcenter to manage backups from my vm stack
It is pretty stable, even so than most other solutions
It performs surprisingly well, sometimes even better than the listed / expected ones
  • vmware vcenter
  • amazon s3
vcenter tag based backup
s3 for offload testing (not working right now)
  • Onedrive
  • Windows backup and restore
No.
  • File import/export
  • Single Signon
Nothing much there.
Not much to it, just read, watch videos, repeat.
Sales team was phenomenal
They stayed pretty helpful through and through.
We didn't try, we had a target price, they matched it.

We've been using Veeam Backup & Replication for several years in our organization, and we perform backups in all of our environments every night. It’s one of the simplest yet effective and reliable solutions in the market for the backup segment. You can check out the free Veeam agent, so you can get an idea of the full product.
  • Extremely reliable product.
  • Easy integration with most virtualization solutions.
  • High consistency data ratio.
  • Training may not be widely available.
  • It could be more user-friendly in certain configuration screens.
  • The promised response time could be improved.
We run backups every night with Veeam Backup & Replication, and I can say we almost never have had any issue with the solution, and in the rare event that we do, the resolution of the issue is pretty quick thanks to the great support team and information found through the community.

  • When needed, the restore times have been greatly reduced.
  • The backup processes are faster.
  • Reliability on the tool it's a key factor so users can focus on other tasks.
When you encounter yourself on a scenario when the restore is the only possible solution, you expect a fast, transparent, and successful restore from your backup solution. This is the case we lived last year in one of our production environments, and thanks to the solution we could perform an overnight restore being completely transparent to the end users.
We have successfully used the on demand sandbox testing environment for Veeam Backup and Replication with VMWare vSphere. This is a separate environment where you can start one or more Virtual machines. We mainly use it for testing of new versions, patches and upgrades, installation of new software and troubleshoot problem with virtual machines when something happen.
Even though Veeam Backup and Replication was one of the most expensive products evaluated by our company, the overall package of the solution was enough so we can decide for this solution. The price of the support goes up every year, but the support team is really fast and helpful when an issue is found.

In our organization Veeam Backup & Replication it is used mainly by our information technology employees, they are the ones that uses the software directly and perform the configurations on the product, but that doesn't mean they are the only ones that benefit with the great capabilities of the solution.

Practically everyone at our information technology department staff is capable of managing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution. They are mostly systems or computer engineers with a technical background on IT infrastructure, and as the Veeam Backup & Replication solution is very intuitive and user friendly, to have a lot of experience is not a mandatory requirement.
  • Virtual servers Backups.
  • VMWare vSphere Backup & Replication.
  • Eventually restores when needed.
  • We backup more than 300 virtual servers.
  • We have successfully used the on demand sandbox testing environment for Veeam Backup and Replication with VMWare vSphere.
  • We perform backup from storage snapshots.
  • We might backup all of our virtual servers.
  • We aim to store all our backups both local and on cloud.
  • We might install the latest patch for use it with Amazon S3 object storage.
We almost certainly will continue using Veeam Backup & Replication software as our main solution for this kind of jobs. The only way we could consider stop using it, is if the price of the support would increase at insane levels, or another software is capable of offer the same features for less, which as of today, doesn't seem possible.

When we were choosing between the several vendors we evaluated, one of the most deciding factors was the ease of use of the program, and all the capabilities the software is capable to offer. Even though the price of the support is high, is not always needed as it is very stable and reliable.
If we had to the selection process all over again, I think it will be exactly the same. As the time has gone by, and even though other softwares can certainly be very well ratedas well, we are pretty sure we made the right choice by selecting Veeam Backup & Replication as our main solution for this kind of processes

Change management was minimal
Before we perform the implementation of the Veeam Backup & Replication software, most of the backups were required to be performed manually by the members of our information technology team, with only a few minor exceptions, so the change was very well received inside of the organization and there was no resistance to it.
  • The learning curve was not very difficult.
  • The use of the sandbox of VMWare vSphere was a little challenging.
  • Pricey support when needed.
The implementation of Veeam Backup & Replication solution was successful in the company. If we had to do it all over again, I would recommend to rely on 3rd party services at the beginning of the project, so they can act as a guidance towards the rest of the implementation.
  • Self-taught
When implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution, initially we try to perform the implementation with our internal IT consultants only, but when we advance in the process we realize we need a little guidance, so I would recommend to get some help from your partner at the beginning of the implementation, so the rest of the process could be completed in an easier way.
When implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution you realize it has most of the common options needed for this type of solutions, and it offers all the configuration tools to get the job done fast and easy. The simple user interface makes it right for this type of product.
With any virtual machines that hosts Microsoft, remember to include all the dependencies when replicating virtual machines using Tintri ReplicateVM feature. This will ensure that the virtual machines that have Microsoft applications can be powered on and brought online successfully at the DR site, this will be very helpful later.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface

When we were implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution, we perform most of the implementation with our in-house team, but then we ran into a few questions that we do not know how to answer, so we requested some help from Veeam software support and it was very helpful for finishing the implementation without any extra troubles.
Even though the price of the support for Veeam Backup & Replication could be a little expensive, you really get what you are paying for. The support team is really well trained and mostly they will get to the root of the issue really fast and will always try their best to resolve your issue ASAP.
  • Virtual server backups.
  • good workflows.
  • easy to use
  • Missing rename function for backup proxy.
  • Errors could be a little more self explanatory.
  • GUI effective but simple.

Scalability can be addressed in many ways, but there is a consequence: Higher performance and smaller backup windows may put too much stress on production storage, and therefore, on its performance and Availability to production workloads. To reduce stress on production storage, version 9.5 introduces a new way of reading VM disks that is optimized for enterprise storage.
The Veeam Backup & Replication solution is up and running every time you need it as it was planned. In more than 3 years that we have been using the product every night, it might have failed or presented an error once or twice, so the availability percentage is almost at 100%.
To identify a bottleneck in the data path, Veeam Backup & Replication detects the component with the maximum workload, the component that works for the most time of the job. For example, you use a low-speed storage device as the backup repository. Even if VM data is retrieved from the SAN storage on the source side and transported over a high-speed link, VM data flow will still be impaired at the backup repository.

The Veeam Backup and Replication software provides full support for vCD including authentication, self-service backup and recovery and policy setting. These capabilities offer everything a provider needs to put data management in the hands of customers with the right level of access. It is easy to integrate the solution any supported software.
With the Veeam Backup and Replication solution, features like integration with existing storage vendors works like a charm. Also the product automatically checks for backup integrity by using Surebackup. In case of any rare error, simple messages are shown which will help anyone to find what caused the root issue.
The vendor we chose when implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution initially help us only with the licenses required for the program to execute correctly. They were very speedy and diligent and when we told them the date we were aiming for going live with the product they helped us reach it.
The vendor we chose when implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution initially did not help us with the implementation as we decided to do it with our internal IT consultants, but when we reach out for help they were very helpful and diligent and solve all of our concerns.
The vendor we chose when implementing the Veeam Backup & Replication solution helped us with the licenses required for the program to function legally and also recommended us to contract a multiyear support program, as they tend to get more expensive every year, with this option you can save some money.
